I really wanted to love Rome & Range, especially after seeing such a creative take on elevated Southern dishes (I'm from southern Louisiana). The menu is exciting and the concept is definitely there--but unfortunately, my dining experience didn't quite live up to it. I ordered the pecan-crusted trout, which had a nice texture but lacked flavor and seasoning. The dirty rice was also underwhelming, with very little depth or seasoning, and the calamari was a bit rubbery. Overall, the food just didn't hit the mark for me. Service was also a bit inconsistent. During dinner, I found myself having to get up to grab my own salt and pepper, as well as my own place setting, which took away from the experience. That said, I did have a much better interaction the day before when my wife and I stopped by for a glass of champagne at the bar--the bartender was lovely and welcoming. On a positive note, the location is beautiful--right along the River Walk, which makes for a great ambiance and setting. I'd consider giving it another try, but hoping for more consistency in both food and service next time. read more

Off from work early on a Friday afternoon, I decide to meet some friends at Roam & Range for a happy hour drink. R&R is part of a hotel and since the weather was really nice, we decide to sit on the outdoor patio facing the river walk. They have a happy hour menu that runs from 3-6 pm and includes beer, wine and liquor specials and 8 small plate food options. I start off with a margarita on the rocks. When it comes out, the drink is good but could've used a bit more lime in the mix but not bad. For food, I go with the fried shrimp and catfish nuggets. When they come out, the plates are larger than expected and both come with fries. This could easily be shared with two or three people. Everything was friend to perfection, crispy on the outside, moist on the inside and seasoned well. The plates were wiped clean. I ordered a house pinot noir and it was a good. I didn't catch the brand name but would order it again. Overall, this was a great first experience at Roam & Range and will look forward to coming back to try more of the menu. Roam and Range surprised me in the best way. It's a New Orleans-inspired restaurant attached to the Autograph Marriott, and I tried it while staying at the hotel for a work conference. I'll be honest -- I don't usually gravitate toward New Orleans-style food -- but this ended up being a great choice. The vibe is really nice: modern, cool décor and a great view overlooking the quieter part of the River Walk, which made it feel relaxing and elevated without being stuffy. The menu has a lot of great-sounding options, but I wasn't feeling super adventurous, so I ordered the Naked Salmon with a side of broccoli. It completely exceeded my expectations -- both were perfectly cooked, fresh, and flavorful. Simple, clean, and done really well. If you're staying at the hotel (or nearby) and want something convenient but still high quality, this place is definitely worth checking out. read more

This was the place a friend chose for her birthday lunch and it did not disappoint. It seems to have the same menu as Bourbon Street and is in one of their former locations. I had the blackened catfish with shrimp and dirty rice and everything was really good. Our waiter was very attentive and the restaurant was not crowded at all on the weekday that we went. The portions are very generous so we both took home lots of food. The facility has been completely redone from its Bourbon Street Days and looks fabulous with a very laid-back atmosphere. read more

Service: friendly hostess, we went during the week for lunch. It wasn't busy so we didn't have to wait to be seated. Food: Delicious. I ended up getting the tenderloin with mash potatoes and my husband got the Greek Salad. The meat for mine was so tender and flavorful. Nice portion of food. Inside the Sol Cypress Hotel, this seems like a solid option for dinner and happy hour. I stopped in for happy hour, which is one of the better options for the area. The drinks are relatively cheap and the HH food menu is all $10 and the portions are large. I had the artichoke dip and the catfish with fries. All tasted good. I sat at the bar and the bartender was fast, friendly and accurate with the orders. The restaurant, along with the rest of the lobby area seems to be recently remodeled. From start to finish everything was amazing. To start off I had their brown sugar old fashioned that was definitely different, strong with a hint of sweetness. For dinner I had the chicken piccata which is a classic in my opinion and I hardly come across in newer restaurants. Very well done and flavorful. Service was excellent across the board, I found no discrepancies there. Last the ambiance has a bit of a John Wick vibe with the stone, wood aesthetics and last the fireplace to relax with your drink was just perfect. Heavy on the blue cheese, but some people like that. Gumbo was packed with seafood. Really tastey. Would loved some heat in it though. This place is easily overlooked and way underrated. It's become one of my favorite restaurants downtown. It branded as a "seafood" restaurant, but they have so much more. Its Cajun, meets Texas, with a little bit of French. I've had the shrimp and grits, pecan crusted trout, blackened salmon, the burger and more. Everything I've had is cooked perfectly and even the sauces dishes are great because they typically sever the sauce on the side. Don't turn your nose up because it's located at a hotel. This is high level dining that happens to reside at a hotel. As a bonus, the atmosphere is nice too. We are here several times over the house of a couple weeks. I'd definitely recommend if you are on the river walk or in the hotel. The restaurant is trendy with charm decorated in a unique style that is inviting. This is an amazing restaurant attached to great hotel. The food was excellent and fresh. The prices are a little high for the area but only by about 5-10% making it great value for those staying at the hotel. This can be compensated for but a 10% lunch discount. The kind of folks who don't just bring your food but bring you a little bit of home with it, friendly in the way that feels real, not rehearsed. I didn't rush a single thing. We typically do not eat in hotel restaurants because the menu and food can be mediocre and overpriced. After reading reviews for Roam & Range, we decided to try it. We thought it was excellent. First there is a large and diverse menu, something for every taste. Their wine list is very good. My husband had the Catfish and I had the duck breast. Both were delicious and well priced. Service was professional and attentive. Great place to come even for dessert and coffee because they have a large selection but we didn't partake. But, alas, it does look like a hotel restaurant. This could be improved by dimming the lighting in the evening and changing the music. But all in all a fabulous experience. read more

Walk-in, no wait, seated promptly. Had the Roam & Range oysters & a cup of gumbo and it was a great start!! Cocktails were definitely on point. Shrimp Brochette and Seafood étouffée were our main course and were absolutely delicious. Shrimp was fresh, seasoned and cooked to perfection.
