I liked the funny political theme decor you will see around the place and on their menu. Both parties are treated equal in their decor. Wasn't a fan of their service or food. Tried the LBJ Chili Cheese Texas Works Dog and it was okay. Looks great but surprising dry. Then tried their "famous" wings and it was average. The menu says they're large wings but it's the same size as something you can get at Wing Stop. Due to ordering food during shift change, there was confusion on if our party paid or not as no one bothered to ask. If you just want a trendy place to go to and have a beer to watch the big game then definitely try Angry Elephant. This is a unique establishment in the fact that it is actually 2 establishments with the same owner. The Roo Pub and Angry Elephant sit side by side. The Angry Elephant has a relaxing environment with low mood lighting and a very friendly staff. My wife and I ordered a couple of Old Fashioneds, featuring Elijah Craig whiskey. We went there to celebrate Old Fashioned week. The drink was very well made with a large ice cube in the center and 2 cherries. We also ordered some Parmesan fries from Roo, next door. Went last night to watch the RNC and Mike the manager was extremely rude to us. We asked for the sound and he refused to put on the sound. He made about 15-20 of us that were there to watch the RNC leave the premise. He was rude and disrespectful. Very poor management skills and should be fired immediately. We had talked about visiting this place for a while now. We went and met some friends to watch a football game. Great place to watch if you're a Texas A&M fan. A lot of folks there for that game. The food was only okay. Ordered the tenderloin wrap and only half of it had any steak. It was mostly lettuce. Also got the steak quesadilla. Again, mostly cheese very little steak. If you are looking for a casual sports bar, look elsewhere. I have been to Angry Elephant multiple times and the service has always been atrocious. If you are at a table, you will not get waited on, you will not get refills, and you will not get checked on. Each time I have been here, I have had to walk up to the bar to get any type of service. If the place was packed or the servers were overwhelmed, I would understand. Instead, the servers stand behind the bar with their phones out or can be found drinking shots with the bar-top customers. This is unprofessional. The food is mediocre and typical bar food. I actually would not say the food is "bad", except for the fact that it will always come cold and take 30 minutes from ordering to be delivered. I am not sure if this is the fault of the servers or kitchen. Regardless, I have been unimpressed by the appetizers, burgers, and salads, each of which cost about $15.00. The noise is unbearable. You will not be able to have a conversation with the person next to you without constantly saying "what?" to them. Angry Elephant is never packed and they are constantly blasting music that drowns out any attempt at conversation. Perhaps this is why I have seen more people in the patio area every time I have been there. Finally, I have read multiple reviews about Angry Elephant having a political theme and making fun of both parties. This is not true. They make fun of one party and one party only. I would not normally care, as my politics are not my identity. However, when here for a night with some friends, the waitress overheard us talking about politics and said "eww" to one of my friends who did not share the same political party as her. Later that night, the gentleman running trivia night made a joke at my friend's expense and reminded everyone in attendance to watch the Alex Jones show, Infowars. The waiter is the only person who knew about my friend's politics. If you are a single older male of a certain demographic, I am sure you will enjoy this place as the servers are treated like Hooter's girls. Came here on a vacation visit as I have family there, not even realizing it was a politically themed bar 'til I got there... and it was awesome! In the politically charged environments we are in now, it's fun to see something not taking politics so seriously (a part from the elephant being "angry" lol) and showing notable figures from both sides. The photos on the wall had some cool fairly rare photos of our past and present politicians. The bar has a great open feel and even a pool table. Only thing I didn't enjoy was the service. I sat down at the bar next to the register and the bar wasn't very busy. A guy behind the bar looked at me several times but always chose to help someone that just walked up even though I said "Hi" to him and proceeded to get my card out. It took 15 mins for a nice girl that was on the WAY other side of the bar to notice that I was looking for help, she even asked him if he helped me and he shrugged her off. Maybe he was having a bad day, but it was very unwelcoming. Once the nice girl came by, she kept an eye on me and she took care of me the rest of the night. Being both a Happy Hour and political aficionado, Angry Elephant has me covered. Happy hour is Monday through Friday from 1-7pm. They have a covered outside area where you can drink and smoke and the inside is quite large. They used to have live band karaoke but sadly found out they stopped a few months ago. They do have a cool band that plays on Tuesday nights starting at 9 (but really closer to 10). If you're hungry, the Elephant has pretty decent hot dogs including the infamous Trump Dog ("grab it by the wiener"). They actually have a decent chips and queso and buffalo wings here as well. A political themed bar peaked the interest of my friend and I so we decided to pop in on a Monday night to see exactly what that meant. Self described as, "a place where people can meet, socialize and talk politics" and, "liberal cocktails at conservative prices" this place definitely hit the political theme mark. Paintings of past presidents line the walls, along with their bountiful bottles of alcohol. No matter what political side you lean on, you'll be welcomed with open arms and a glass of your favorite. The staff were friendly and attentive. Being a San Diego native, I've met a lot of different people behind the bar, but the two individuals working that night, Deidra and David, have by far been the nicest. I felt like these were lifelong pals that I was catching up with. Very attentive, honest, and just downright fun. Big shout out to them for making my first San Antonio restaurant visit extra special. Lastly, the food! Ended up getting crocodile bites to start, and they were amazing! First time I've ever had crocodile and was pleasantly surprised. Had a Mac N Cheese burger after and that was also awesome! Overall, 10/10 for food. So my husband I and frequent this location almost daily and never really had a huge problem with service till Sunday 05/02. We dropped in for a beer and the two bar staff were on top of making sure my husband's cup never ran dry. However my cup remained empty most of the visit. My cup would sit empty while they were getting him another beer, even before the one he was drinking was finished. I paid the bill and we left. I wanted to tell the bar staff to be careful how you treat the women cause we pay tabs too and I usually tip at least 60%. read more

Issue #1: Hours posted on business door aren't accurate. Came by twice during business hours and found them closed. Finally popped by on an evening, they seem to open up around 5PM. I understand updating your hours online may take time, but at least post a sign on your door. I almost didn't come back to give them another chance. Issue #2: Unwelcoming atmosphere. Not sure why I attempted another visit, but when I finally made it in, this place is 90% bar with little to no emphasis on food, despite the fact that it's filled with tables. Bartender took a while to come over, seemed like the customers present were all regulars, and none were eating. Service was polite, but focused on chatting with regulars. Mixed feelings about the food. The Frito Pie dog was huge, and I like that it used cheese sauce rather than shredded cheese. Hot dog itself was thick and good quality, but did not look or taste fresh. House-made chips were soggy and tasteless, would like the option to substitute another side. If this business is going to stick around, they need to improve their service, food, and marketing. They're already in a poor location surrounded by mostly vacant storefronts, and there's another bar (Roos) with cheap food (and better service, and daytime hours) directly next door (and busier than they are) competing with their customer base. read more

Solid 3.5 stars but I never like to round down. The angry elephant is the sister bar to Roo Pub and both have their own distinct personality. One thing that is nice to know is there is no entry fee into the angry elephant since they don't show the major fights as their sister bar does. Not quite sure who was in charge of the music this past Saturday but damn was it on point. Drink prices were fair and it's great they serve food until the wee hours of closing time. The decor is very divey and they have plenty of political puns for you to chuckle at. This spot is great for large groups with the massive booths they have. You can play darts here and there are plenty of tv screens for you to catch a game. Certain I'll be back sooner than later. read more
