My friend and I decided to start our evening with the happy hour at Picks. The inside had a fun atmosphere with photo opportunities/ decorations all around. When we first arrived, we sat at the bar and looked at the menu. I decided to order the frozen drink of the day but they said it hadn't frozen correctly so it wasn't available. I then decided to order a Margarita. The bartender was very friendly and was happy to answer questions when I asked what certain drinks were. My friend and I then ordered the tacos and BLT to share. The tacos were so small and not filling at all (barely a snack) so I wouldn't recommend them. As for the BLT, they were out of lettuce and didn't have pickles to add so it ended up being just a bacon and tomatoes sandwich. It wasn't bad but definitely wasn't something I'd order again. After we finished the margs, we switched to the Como La Flor drink which was beautiful and unique. I would order this again taste wise. I will say, the drinks all seemed very light on alcohol compared to the pours at some other local bars. I would visit again for the fun ambiance but would not go outside of their happy hour.

They have a stage where a live band plays and plenty of seating both inside and out. We sat outside since it was a nice night. We arrived during happy hour so drinks were reasonably priced. I order a pitcher of Michelob Ultra, a drink with some banana in it and a como la flor drink. It came out to 47 dollars. Everything was really good. We also order chips and queso, fries, and a BLT with fries. The food was on point. That was two drinks came out to 39. It did start to get pricy later on in the evening. My friend bought a round of como la flor drinks (3) that came out to 36 dollars. I would suggest coming during happy hour since it is a little cheaper. Overall, I would rate the service pretty great. Atmosphere is perfect and music was amazing. I would definitely recommend and come back with friends. I did feel like I got what I paid for so not complaining just simply saying that it can be pricey, so just be aware. Can't wait to come back. I'm interested in karaoke to see what that's like.
This is the perfect Sunday Funday place!!!! The vibe, live music, decor and staff are all FIVE STARS!!! The Happy Hour is the best around and $18 Margarita Pitchers is such an amazing price! Cute photo ops all over the bar and the outside patio is perfect for a fall sunny day. Small intimate areas to catch up with the girls or to catch the game outside on one of the many TV's! I have not been to the Drag Show on Sunday yet but I've heard that it was such a fun time so it is definitely on my list of things to do! I've been Friday evening for HH right after work hours and at around 8/9pmish the vibe definitely started to change as the live music moved out and the DJ started playing and people were definitely dressed to impress. Cute drinks that all seem handcrafted! I will definitely be returning here!
I came here with friends over the weekend, and the place surprisingly was more than I expected. The place was really fancy looking and everything was clean. They had a small stage where a band was playing music live. You can go look at their site to see what events they do over the month, so if you like karaoke, you can go on a day they do that. I liked that they had an outside patio you can sit at to enjoy the atmosphere and good weather. The bartenders/waiters were very attentive and served us very quickly. Everyone we talked with was great. The fries and chips/queso were good; nice snacks to enjoy your drinks with. The BLT my friend ordered was good portion size, and she liked it very much. We came during happy hour so we were able to buy cocktails/drinks at a good price. I think my favorite drink was the como la flor. It had such a pretty color with a flower on top too. The beer here was also good and can get a pitcher of beer to share with friends. However, after happy hour was over, the cocktails do get pricey and recommend to look up the times they do happy hour if you want a good price on drinks. Besides that, everything else was great. I would definitely come back to this place in the future.
Quick bite and drink before the kitchen closed. I was starving so I didn't grab a picture of the tacos that I stuffed in my face. The drink list was short and sweet to not be overwhelming and definitely photogenic. It was also karaoke night and the only place I've ever seen have a real band on stage to play along to the songs you choose! They were great musicians and worth the trip back to see again.
Let's get the yelp logistics out of the way. Food is ok. Just bar food but decent. Service believe it or not is impeccable if you are at a table. Ambiance if you love to dance is spot on! Now guys. Don't ignore Eric in the bathroom. This man is full of wisdom. My son and I refer to him as Yoda. We are both going through girlfriend issues. And this man spoke in to both of us! Tip him!
This place is great! The aesthetics are really cool and great pricing during happy hour. My coworker and I came for drinks right when they were opening at 4pm on a Monday, so I got some photos of the place empty. It's all night Happy Hour on Monday and they had some live music playing! The drinks were tasty and cheap for HH. I enjoyed the dragon daiquiri (I think it had a different name, but close enough). My coworker liked the traditional marg on the rocks. The elotes was tasty too, but a pretty small portion. Definitely just for one, and not enough to share. The chips and queso was big enough to share. I enjoy the place and everyone working there was really nice. It might be my new favorite spot in town for casual drinks in the afternoon. I really want to go back for the drag brunches! I've gone to Paramour and hated how overpriced their menu was. So I'm excited that Picks provides the performers and much more reasonable pricing for food and drinks. You'll be seeing more of me soon!
Hey - Guinness on tap poured correctly, great sign!The bar crowd skews younger but there are a few over forty patrons. The bartenders are sharp and know how handle large crowds and get to your order quickly. There was a good grunge band, remember grunge? and in between the DJ played standard EDM with a few danceable songs.
I had been wanting to go here for a while and then my friends took me. What a welcoming place and LGBTQA friendly. The drink choices were amazing and the bartender was so nice. The vibe was relaxed, fun, and felt like you can just escape and enjoy good food, drinks, friends, and music. Want to try their drag brunch next.
Really depends when you decide to visit this facility. We planned and looked forward to attending the Drag Brunch! Which by far was not a drag! If you like a good show, (by far this is one of the best) suggest you make reservations in advance. Yes, I have seen plenty of shows even at the Paradise in South Beach. Yes, Picks sells out & reservations come with a fee. The bar is casual, open doors, so there is fresh air. Music is loud, and after a few drinks you start to pop too! I will say the service is here probably one of the best! Rebecca goes above and beyond to ensure you have everything you need. Alayna Marquez, girl, you are amazing! I could watch her emcee anything! Alayna is fun, witty & sexy! Food meh. Probably better off eating else where. I get it the bar has to make money. However the food was less than mediocre. However if you focus on the entertainment and the service, not a bad deal! San Antonio come out and support your local entertainers. Bring your tip money, for staff and entertainment! Now on to the details. Drinks were good, a wide variety of opinions. Drinks overall were decent.
Good food and good drinks, try the "I put a spell on you" and Margarita and the street tacos. It is a mixed crowd young and mature. I will definitely go back and check out their bands.
Funny story... We came here thinking we were going to see a friend's band. (Shout out to HoneyBunny) But we were a day late. No worries... new bar, new experience, so let's see what this place is all about. Excellent vibe here! Cool art work, chill VIP spaces, and a Sunday happy hour menu that even my cheap self was willing to dive into, even if my band wasn't here like I thought. Food was on point. But the fun surprise was the on tap Old Fashion. Yup. On tap. I had to try that. It was really good! And they had the right cherries so that's a pro win. Glad we stopped and we'll make it back I'm sure!
We had a great time at Picks Bar! Came for the Barbie themed Drag Brunch for like a date day. My husband and I had never been to anything like this before. We're middle aged mom and pop types and we felt nothing but welcomed. It was a great atmosphere. Very clean, very organized, very well done and themed. The food was great too! We loved the whole experience. I would recommend for those nervous about going to their first drag Brunch, give it a try. We're glad we did and would love to go again.

Great spot! It's LGBTQ+ friendly and welcomes all. Attended their drag brunch and it was a lot of fun which the entertainment was funny and great to watch. They do have a brunch menu, slim options but still nice that they offer some snacks. Every day there is something going on from live bands to karaoke. I'll be back for sure read more

Picks seems like a great place to go with a group of people during the evening or weekend. It wasn't the best time to go for a weekday happy hour. Wanting to try Picks, I stopped a few weeks ago because I was trying to avoid the insane amount of traffic on both 1604 and the feeder. They have happy hour drink specials. I got a wine which wasn't good. Thinking back, I should have gotten a mixed drink since this is more of a bar vs wine place. I also was reviewing the menus and was informed the kitchen wasn't open. Bummer. I love some good bar food and I was hungry. I'll give them another shot some other time and hopefully get to try some bar food. read more
This is an Instagram-able bar. It had swings and something fascinating in the women's bathroom. We paid a hefty cover ($35 each) for the first time in 20 years to hear a band we've never heard of. Started with a DJ who played a great mix. Then the band came on and it got crowded - we were the only ones who didn't know the band. Lol. Eventually we wondered to the back patio. The bar faces inside and outside. So. Many. Drinks. Never been so thankful for Uber. Had a great time here dancing. Fast service. read more

Very different vibe than I am used to but was so much fun! We went on Karaoke night there were some great singers, a couple of drunk ones too . The food was actually really good. I had the asada tacos 10/10. There's a lot happening but overall it's nice place to have tacos and drinks. read more

We rolled in around 9PM on Saturday night - no cover and the place was hoppin'. Parking was still ok at the other end of the strip center, but a large section was cordoned off in front of Pick's. I'm told (but have not confirmed) valet parking is free in this area if you tell them you are going to Pick's. We got there before the live band went on stage and hugged a corner of the bar because all of the tables were reserved (you have to pay to reserve them, otherwise you don't sit). No worries for us though - we were there for the music, the band, the dancing! By the time we left around midnight, the place was packed - although the dance floor looks small, there was still enough room for me to move around and show off my mad break dancing skillz (yes, with a "Z"). We went to Picks last night to see Grupo Metal in a "Pop-Up" show. The place is really fun! They have Indoor and outdoor seating along with a full and creative bar menu as well as food. The atmosphere was so positive- this is something we both noticed right away. The staff were all so HAPPY!! We even told one of the employees that and she said it was a great place to work and that the owners of Picks were great to the employees. Well- it showed and we felt it! Of course the band was amazing and we will be back for other event. I highly recommend this venue for many reasons, but most of all, if you are out to have fun, doesn't it make sense that the staff is having fun as well?! read more

Tried this place out for happy hour on a Thursday night. With $1 margarita, michelob and sagria, it's a miracle this place didn't have more patrons. On top of cheap drinks, they also have snacks for happy hour. Chips and queso and tacos is every San Antonian's dream. Ok, maybe it's just my dream. The live 80s cover band that day was awesome. I noticed they have a good list of cover bands playing there this month. I'm not sure how busy it gets at night, but they have a small VIP area for those wanting to celebrate in their own space. Extremely disappointing! Came once saw, experienced it and won't be back. Cool concept reason we went due to social media hype on the Taquitos . Apparently they don't serve full menu till after 4 on a Sunday not advertised anywhere. Bar area clean, but empty maybe two tables. One waitress not very attentive. Food you must order separately decent flavor on the tacos. One salsa per taco order! Not a good idea. We were a party of 4 needed extra space to accommodate our food order and drinks apparently the owner does not allow to move tables. We were stopped when we needed extra table space. Big big buzz kill. Had to put our chips and salsa on a chair were people sit. Not very accommodating the message from a dude at the bar was rude per the owner on moving a table. Will think twice to give this place a chance. read more
