Found my way at The Roo Pub on a Sunday night and wanted to check it out. Most customers were sitting at the bar and a few scattered among the many tables. The owner also owns the bar next door the Angry Elephant which shares the same kitchen. Started with one of the more tasty Wedge Salad I've ever had which was also loaded with so many bacon chunks that it was more of a side than a topping. The 8 breaded wings were split between the habanero and the sweet chili flavors. Enjoyed both and could see ordering the same while watching a game for the multiple TVs. Waitstaff was attentive, polite and friendly which does match the relaxed atmosphere. read more

I've been to this establishment many times because I live nearby and genuinely enjoy the food--especially the wings. The food quality and ambiance are the only reasons this place still has my business. Unfortunately, the service is consistently poor, with one major exception. Summer is outstanding. I've had her as my server twice, and both times she delivered exactly what hospitality is supposed to look like: attentive, friendly, professional, efficient, and genuinely pleasant to interact with. She is the only server here who consistently does her job well, and it is painfully obvious by comparison. If management cares at all about customer experience, retention, or fairness--she deserves a raise, a promotion, or at the very least to not be penalized by pooled tips alongside staff who are clearly disengaged. Every other service experience I've had here has ranged from inattentive to outright unacceptable. On one visit, a server began taking my order and then abandoned the interaction mid-order to socialize with coworkers and customers, leaving me sitting there ignored. This is not an isolated incident--this is a pattern. I work in the service industry myself, so I don't say this lightly: This is a training and management failure. The staff (with the exception of Summer) appear uninterested, unmotivated, and visibly unhappy to be there, and it shows in how guests are treated. When tips are pooled, that lack of effort doesn't just hurt customers--it unfairly hurts the one employee who is actually doing excellent work. This place has too good of a vibe and too strong of a food offering to be dragged down by consistently poor service. If it weren't within walking distance of my apartment, the food alone would not be enough to keep me coming back. To be very clear: I will continue to request Summer when possible and recommend her specifically. But if the service issues continue with other staff, I will continue to reflect that honestly in future reviews. Regular customers notice patterns--and so do prospective ones reading these reviews. Came here the other day for quick beer. I came here around lunchtime on a Tuesday. The parking lot had plenty of open spaces. You should not have any issues finding a spot to park. The bartender came and took my order soon after I sat down at the bar. I ordered a hopadillo and decided to close out. The place has a casual sports bar vibe. It had many TVs throughout that all had a game on. I didn't get to spend much time here as I only had time for one beer. I hope to come back when I have more time. read more

Never been until this last Saturday. Visited about 4 pm and it was a very manageable sized group. 2 large separate rooms with more casual dining feeling with tons of TVs on one side, pool, shuffleboard, darts, etc on the other side. We stayed close to home and went to @roopubsa for dinner. We made it to happy hour, which ends at 6pm on weekdays. The happy hour were only including the drinks. Hubby had the Coors light draft and I had a well drink (pineapple,orange, and vodka). We shared the Onion Rings and Texas Honey BBQ Wings. Dad had the Cheese Quesadilla. Hubby and I shared the Ripper Burger. We ordered the Chop Salad with the intent to share it but we were so full. We ended up taking food home. Not very impressed at all. Went to a watch a Spurs game there recently. Had a pretty bad overall experience. Came in and waited a bit for someone to seat or or let us know where to sit. No one even acknowledged us. OK, found a table and sat down. Tried flagging down a waitress but to no avail. It's been several minutes now and the place isn't even that busy. So I went to the bar to try to order. The two bartenders did their best to ignore me as I tried getting their attention. Finally I was able to get someone to take my order but it took forever to order and get my food. We almost walked out. Not going back. Can't imagine how bad it could be when busy. read more

Food: I expected more "Australian" food since it's an Aussie Pub. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case and the only thing "Aussie" is the crocodile bites. Wings are the way to go! If you're looking for the absolute worst customer service experience, look no further than Roo's Pub. I visited for the first time with a group of five, and if it were possible to give a rating below zero, I absolutely would. We came in during happy hour .When you'd expect service to be attentive , but there was only one server, and she repeatedly ignored us. We had to wave her down just to get acknowledged, and when she finally came over, it was with a rude attitude. I'm guessing because we were customer trying to get service? I don't know. Then came the shift change, and unbelievably, the service got even worse. As the place emptied out, we remained and wanted to order more. No one checked on us. Once again, we had to get up and ask for assistance. The new server also showed up with an even nastier attitude and even walked away before we were done talking to her. It was baffling . Basic customer service and common sense were completely absent. You'd think that serving one of the few remaining tables would motivate someone to be even slightly courteous, you know to make more money for a bigger tip... Thankfully, the manager stepped in and took most of our food order himself. We attempted to tip him, and he respectfully declined, trying to redirect use to the horrible server. It has been a long time since I have been here, and I missed this place. Heidi was our waitress and she was very nice, polite, and helpful. My sis and I had the "Cheese quesadilla" and "Philly Cheesesteak Fries". The Pico was delish, I asked for extra since my sis and I finished the cup with 3 bites. Spot number two on our bar hopping girls night out. After having a drink at the Angry Elephant, we made our way to the Roo Pub. I typically like going here for food. It's a great place to watch a game with plenty of TVs and activities in the back room. In general, this is my least favorite of the bars on this strip. The crowd is definitely younger, the drinks are primarily rail level, and I have my own tits, so I don't care to have someone else's in my face. Obviously, they know their clientele well. All of the bartenders are females in skimpy outfits. If that's not your scene, save yourself the trouble and go to the bar on the left or the right side of the Roo Pub. This sports bar was right next door and a quieter place to have a beer. True to it's name, there were lots of cute pictures of kangaroos on the wall. They had a good selection of draft beer. What a great local bar/pub. Everyone is super friendly Staff knows all the regulars. Casual atmosphere for watching Sunday night football. There are 2 bars inside. Outdoor patio with seating for smokers or just to step away from the hustle and bustle. Food is really good for pub food and there is a large variety. I loved the chili shrimp. It gets really busy and had to wait a while to order drinks and food. You definitely should stop by for a drink when you get the chance. read more

My wife and I went to watch a couple of football games here on Sunday afternoon and was very disappointed in most aspects of the day. There are signs outside that state 21 and over only, yet there were about 10 or so kids (ages 5? through15?) sitting at tables with their parents. The kids were well behaved and quiet - that is not the issue - the issue is that rules are clearly posted yet not enforced. What other rules do they choose to enforce? A table near us was doing shots and we observed four of the waitstaff doing shots with the customers. In my opinion, this is not a good look for the staff. The large video screens are AMAZING - the brightness and clarity were very good for projection TV's. The audio was horrible - the clarity and crispness of the spoken word was not acceptable - it was hard to understand the game announcers. We had the Chili Cheese Fries and they were good, but not great. I would definitely order them again. We also had the Fried Cheese Sticks and they were not good at all - the marinara was cold and runny (more like salsa) and the cheese sticks were straight out of the frozen bag, flash fried and then served. As much as I loved the game atmosphere and comradery, we probably won't be back. read more

Drinks were very good and simple appetizers were enjoyable. The ambiance...less than enjoyable. Extremely loud music for a medium size pub, although it was very diverse. A few changes could make this into a really good Dash eliminating or moving the game and music machines to a different area to help create I better seated experience. G'day! Came here to learn about Australia, and get my fill of stubbies and meat pie. This place is located in a strip mall by the Angry Elephant. It's a good sized bar, with a game room/extra bar in the back. There's plenty of televisions, and everything on the wall is Aussie themed! They've got heaps of pictures of roos, Patty Mills, Ayers Rock, the Sydney Bridge, and all the scenic Aussie spots. Their menu is heavily slanted towards the Aussie side. I wasn't disappointed in the selection. I ended up having a go at the sausage rolls. When they arrived, it looked like they have been previously frozen, and warmed over in the microwave oven. The pastry was all soggy, and it wasn't up to my Sydney standards. The service was completely aloof. I went when it wasn't very busy, for an early dinner. It took quite a while to flag down a server. We only got to see her when our food was delivered, and our drinks went empty throughout the meal. We also had to run down our own silverware, napkins, condiments, etc. We were completely forgotten throughout the meal. This place does get heaps of praise for the decor- it looks authentic, even if there are Foster's signs everywhere. read more

We moved to San Antonio recently and tried Roo on a whim one night. Even though it's a pub, they do have tables and a full menu. The service was decent and the food was amazing, particularly their burger. Tonight, my husband wanted to go back for the burger. When we walked in around 5:20, the girls behind the bar looked at u, but didn't say anything. We sat ourselves at one of the tables. The girls behind the bar were very preoccupied with the customers there and never left to check on people at tables. We sat there for almost 20 minutes waiting for someone to even acknowledge that we were there which never happened. There was a party of 3 already sitting at a table when we got there and in the time we sat at our table, they never received any attention either. If a bar is going to have a restaurant side, there should be restaurant service. We will likely not be back. read more
