I was with a group of 7 for breakfast. We didn't have a reservation, however, they were able to accommodate us on a Monday at 8am with no issues. We had the option of ordering from the menu, however with the prices, it made more sense to order the buffet, so that you could get a variety you wanted, without having to order several dishes. Fruit is not included in most of the meals, which a big driver for us to get the buffet. If you have dietary restrictions, the buffet may be a good option for you as well. The omelet station could make eggs, without butter - which was helpful for a few in our party. I loved the fresh fruit and oatmeal options. I also enjoyed the scrambled eggs, potatoes and bacon. They had every type of American breakfast item you could imagine...baked goods, danishes muffins etc. Boxed cereals, eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, fruits, carnitas....seriously about 50+ different options. Not bad for under $40. Service was excellent. She even offered to give us beverages to go! HIGHLY recommend this restaurant, especially if you are staying at this hotel. read more

We had a lovely experience at Cibolo Moon thanks to our outstanding server. We were seated outside as soon as dinner was serving on their gorgeous patio per our request, we didn't have a reservation but for a Friday evening it was not busy yet at that time 5 PM. There was perfect weather but with a heater to accommodate us as the weather became chilly. We had a lovely view of the Christmas events and hill country skyline. They brought us complimentary biscuits, spicy jam and ice water. We skipped ordering appetizers and went straight to the food which came out reasonably fast and blew us away in regards to presentation and flavor. Portions were just right with a little extra to share and sample. Whethef you get salmon, pork, steak or pollo asado you will be impressed. Even the rice that came with my sister's pollo asado was divine. We celebrated my mom's birthday and our server made her special with a cheesecake. So lovely. Will come again. Note to my fellow reviewers: don't complain things are pricey and rate them poorly on that account. Stephanie!!! Thank you so much for taking care of our table and also to inform me about Killmonger! The food and atmosphere to dine in is perfect for this resort. Came in the evening and ordered the Filet and also the Salmon. The presentation of both orders was more than appealing and the first, second, third and so on to the last bite - cooked to perfection. The outside of the Filet was charred once cut, it was perfectly red - the way I love filets and how it should properly be prepped and done as the final product. The salmon - oh man oh man.. Brussel Sprouts were amazing/delicious and the salmon seared and crispy on the bottom and moist and tender once u take the first bite. 2nd Nite: came again, Natalie helped us out and her too was an amazing person to help us out and the food once again was the same as the night before - amazing. First time here and it was amazing! Within the resort this restaurant is serving tasty take on Mexican cuisine. The elote appetizer was so yummy! The queso and guacamole was delicious. I was a bit disappointed in Cibolo Moon at the Marriott resort. The atmosphere is good as it is set-up like a high end restaurant. We came in for lunch and it was pretty empty at 1 PM on a Monday. The prices are high like any restaurant you would see at a resort. All of the dishes were large and had plenty of food but the food itself was average to just above average. The chips and guacamole were good. The guacamole was fresh and had good flavor. We added a side of salsa for an additional $4. It was tasty and had a bit of a kick to it. For lunch I had the fried chicken sandwich which came with a chipotle mayo, pickles, and a citrus coleslaw. It was just ok. The breading on the chicken was plentiful and overpowered the sandwich. It could have used about half the breading. The citrus slaw was a nice touch but barely noticeable due to the breading. The fries were pretty good with a crisp exterior but a soft deliciousness to them. While nothing was bad, nothing was truly exceptional either and for the price you paid, I would have expected a bit more in the flavor department. read more

This is hard to write. I have always enjoyed Cibolo Moon. This visit, however, was average at best. The French toast was small and boring. The coffee was rich and bold! Then I also went for dinner one day. The burnet ends are NOT ends. Just brisket dipped in bbq sauce. The steak was flavorless .. literally had no seasonings. I asked for medium rare ... outside was almost burnt and the center was rare. The creme brulee was smooth with a deep vanilla flavor and glass sugar topping. Christmas Day meal that left a bad taste all around. We booked reservations for 6 over a month in advance and when arrived tried to seat us at a table for 4. Rather than move us to a larger table, they squeezed 2 more chairs into a space you could already hardly walk through. Service was slow, food was "meh". But the worst part of the experience was we shared the the reservation was not just for Christmas but a 55+ Anniversary which was on our reservation. After only 90min, which members of our party were still eating, we then asked by the manager to vacate the table as they had another service starting. Looking around a room with over 30 empty tables, felt was extremely rude, especially since we had just received the check and hadn't even paid yet. At $150 a person, really expected a whole lot better meal and overall dining experience. Will not be back and would look elsewhere if looking for a celebration restaurant location that wasn't so expensive and fell flat on it's face. read more

Definitely my favorite dining spot on the JW property. A great mix of style, service, food and local eating. If you had one place to try, this would be it. I had the double advantage of being there on a business meal and that is highly recommended. It's San Antonio. Start with a classic margarita on the rocks. Their version is perfect. Also had a southwest salad with it which I highly recommend as I totally enjoyed the cilantro lime vinaigrette. With the fixed menu options I went with the seared scallops. While small, they were very well cooked. That's tough to do and they pulled it off. Finished off with the oreo cheesecake. I'm not a cheesecake fan, but if you are you should try it. It was the only option on the fixed menu, but I can't pass it up on a biz trip. read more

Spent the Memorial Day weekend here at the JW Marriott to celebrate our belated 60th birthdays and couldn't be happier that we chose this restaurant to start our dinning venture. It's a casual relaxing way to finish the week. Happy and friendly staff made the experience worth while. The burnt tip brisket and cauliflower appetizer got the taste buds started on what was an excellent night of flavors and taste. Born and raised in Texas and right down the street from here, when beef is served up, you better believe we are going all in. The 16oz Dino Ribs were a chef special tonight and now one my favorite cuts of meat. The flavor and texture left me in awe of what I just put down. Meat so tender it fell off the bone at the mere thought of cutting into it. Mix in the mash potatoes and carrots as the sides and it was a delicious combination not to be missed. Couldn't leave without finishing the night with would undoubtedly be the best Key Lime Pie I ever had. Prepared fresh from the bakery here and it was something special and wouldn't be easily forgotten. The chef and crews at Cibolo Moon are shining bright and deserve this high praise. read more

So, even though the website & 4 of 5 Marriott employees told me no dinner service on Saturdays, it definitely was happening. I called before arriving to my hotel stay, I called from my room, I also asked at the restaurant in person! I was told either they were not open for dinner service, that I could not get a same-day reservation, or that I need 10 in my party to make the reservation. Well, I did have 10 in my party and finally ended up with the reservation. Was so happy because the buffet was outstanding! Pretty sure they have a new chef in charge and a couple of new managers in charge of the dining room. Also had brunch the next morning and it was also fabulous! The only thing I can say negatively about the brunch is that the omelette station is very popular but the people making the omelettes cannot hear what is being ordered and even if they do hear, the person accepting the order does not relay the message to the other cook helping them out right next to them. So even though this was the hardest reservation to get like harder than Carbone in Vegas, I did notice the positive changes in the food and in the management in the dining room. Nice restaurant inside the JW Marriott Hill Country with plenty of seating. For breakfast, they offer a buffet for $33/person that includes pastries, eggs, fruit, cereal, made-to-order omelets, sausage, biscuits with gravy, bacon, yogurt, etc. We went at 11am which is when they switch for lunch during the week (on weekends it's at noon). We ordered the shrimp salad (they split it for us) and the chicken tacos. Both were delicious. I would order both again, especially the salad which was excellent. The lunch menu is a bit limited, but there were enough healthy and hearty options that it seems there's something for everyone (salads, burgers, pasta, chips and guac, tacos, etc.) Service was excellent as well. Our water glasses never went dry and the server was friendly and attentive. Another plus, you can make a reservation on Opentable so if you're a points collector on the app, you'll get your points here. There are lots of big tables so it's good for big groups and it does have a private room if you're having a party. The restaurant isn't particularly intimate or romantic, but it's upscale and overlooks the golf course. I would definitely go back. read more

Sitting in the midrange of the restaurant offerings at the JW Marriott - it is more casual and less expensive than the steakhouse but a step up from eating at the sports bar. It has ample seating to cover large parties if you have them. Dropped in for dinner here and the restaurant was not quite half full (probably because most of the guests were at holiday parties else where on the property). The staff was very courteous and pleasant, but the service was a tad on the slow side (so factor that in). You will likely also see a lot of kids about (but I got the sense they grouped the families towards the front of house that night). I did a simple dinner of a ribeye steak, baked potato and some seasonal grilled veggies (zucchini, squash, carrots etc) and had some biscuits. The baker was pretty good and the steak was cooked to order (although the steak had a spiced butter that I had them put in the side - it was ok but really not needed). Not only does JW now charge $35/day to park and Cibolo Moon can only validate and remove $7 off parking, Cibolo Moon, closes too early on Saturdays. If you're at the Hill country Marriott, this is a convenient place to grab a bite. There's a nice, scenic view near the windows and the kitchen is open to see. The strawberry jalapeno margarita was delicious and perfect with queso and chips. I ordered the snapper as they recommended and was not impressed. The snapper itself was salty and the sauce did not mesh with the fish. Brussel sprouts were delicious, but did not come together with the snapper. It was like tasting small, separate dishes. Celebrated my daughters 18th birthday at Cibolo Moon on a Wednesday evening in February. This was sort of a last minute reservation but very enjoyable evening. Everyone enjoyed their meals but there wasn't anything in particular that stood out. Except perhaps the fresh churros served with chocolate sauce and whipped cream. They were incredibly fresh and tasty. Our server, Mark, was very attentive and everyone on staff acknowledged her birthday. Stayed at hotel for spring break and this restaurant was in the same area we stayed at; so it was super convenient. During our stay, there were two buffets offered daily, breakfast & dinner. Lunch is offered but À la cart style. It gets plenty busy during the buffet services but the staff worked so hard to make sure our needs were met. I ate here w my two boys and aunt twice a day and skipped lunch since the buffet was plenty to keep us full. The selection of food is amazing; something for anyone on any diet, fresh hot made to order omelets, the biggest selection of breads and desserts...I can go on forever but I'll let the pictures do the talking. The dinner buffet has a kids area with chicken wings, nuggets etc and they have a kids price special. Kids can also eat in the adults area. Here are my thoughts: Check in: I waited about 6 minutes until the host came to greet me after I was greeted she immediately sat me at a table i requested for out side. Waiter: very nice young man not very talkative seem a little shy but I could tell he cared about the customers. Appetizer: I order burnt ends brisket came with corn tortillas! The taste was pleasant the tortillas got cold fast though but that happens when they are served just on a handheld platter. The brisket had a good flavor to it. Main course: I got a wedge Salad now it was amazing! Had tomatoes, cucumbers, bacon, blue cheese crumble and purple onions. Normally comes with ranch dressing but I requested blue cheese. Desserts - 5.5/10 Most of the desserts were not that good however there were 2 that I enjoyed for their flavor and appealing appearance. There was one particular dessert that was not good. The s'mores dessert was very hard, as if it had been baked to the texture of a rock. Also the marshmallow topping on top of this dessert looked and tasted burnt. This did not change throughout the batch. Adult/Reg buffet - 4.5/10 Service at the buffet was good however the food was mediocre. The brisket was not seasoned and even though it said 13 hours smoked it did not have the smoky flavor, the turkey was ok, the creamed corn was a favorite, the sauce was good and it did make the food better which to me and my table was a plus, the ribs had flavor but they were missing spices and that nice smoky flavor. Lastly the mashed potatoes were not the best to me because the cheese in them just didn't taste right and the texture after you finished it was not the best(this is however my personal opinion so take it with a grain of salt). We ordered a mac & cheese kid's meal, ice cream sundae, mahi tacos, and the chicken tortilla soup. We waited an exorbitant amount of time-close to 40 minutes. During this time nothing was brought out, and our children were visibly hungry. A manager came over and apologized as well as the waitress, still nothing. Why not bring something for the kids? Bread? Chips? We ended up getting our food. It all tasted good but I will say it was overpriced. The mahi taco dinner did not come with any sides, which for the money was not an exceptional meal. The ice cream sundae also came out and had no whipped cream. We needed to flag down the wait staff and ask for the whip cream which was supposed to be on top. Overall, this was not a great dining experience. They did remove the children's meal and ice cream. It was still $40 for a bowl of soup and two tacos-amid a haphazard dining experience. . read more

Last year we went to the JWs 18 Oaks for my daughters birthday and it was a terrible experience with awful service but as the property is so pretty at this time of year we decided to try again at Cibolo Moon and so glad we did. The whole property is beautifully decorated and we were able to get seated immediately despite arriving early than our reservation. The service was simply impeccable- Teddy was excellent and on top of the entire evening and waited until our daughter was off at the buffet to check what kind of dessert be could bring for her birthday which was a nice touch - and in an even bigger surprise - he turned up with two: Amazing chocolate cake and cheesecake on the house so we made sure we made sure he was tipped well as his service was great! My husband had the scallops which he loved , a relative had the shrimp and grits which are always great and I tried the vegetarian menu with tofu tacos which were great . Had such a fun night and a great birthday for my daughter - excellent experience all around. read more

One was pre Covid and once during Covid. Today the executive chef served me on the buffet randomly and it was all a great, hot food and overall great tasting experience.
