We are local and are here for dinner more than twice a month. Food is great, service is excellent and the staff is always friendly. It's a relax vibe and food is made when you order. If you're looking for a fancy Mexican restaurant chain, keep driving, remember you're at the lake. These are real people, locally owned place and hard workers, be nice. We've never had bad service or food, we will be back read more

My husband and I typically go out for dinner every Friday night for Mexican food; however, we had the worst experience ever eating out here. The poor, lovely waitress was juggling a number of tables (about 11 people) ALL by herself, answering the phone, and trying her best to manage. There were NO napkins for us (even in the bathroom- I checked- and half a cup of salsa for a huge basket of chips. For a Friday night in Canyon Lake, I am astonished that the owners of this restaurant have no one helping one waitress!!! We are so disappointed that we will no longer be eating out here again. Shame on them because we have been regular customers. read more

I am a door dasher that picks up from here sometimes. I had an order to pick up, and the lady server that was in there is rude. Apparently she doesn't like when there are orders for DoorDash. I overheard her tell a customer that she doesn't make a penny off any DoorDash orders. At least it's making the restaurant money. read more

Good food, give it a try. Don't know why this was in my drafts but love trying new places.

hit n miss. crystal is the best . i try to only go when she is serving as she makes sure your happy.

This place has become an absolute joke of a restaurant. We used to come here quite often, now we only order tacos on Sunday because the other good Mexican restaurants are closed. I'm not sure if they're just this ignorant or they just don't give a f$&k. First, whoever works Sundays, the shorter older lady with glasses, leaves the phone off the hook in her pocket for 10 minutes at a time so if you're trying to order ahead good luck. It's not because they're that busy. You're going to get a busy tone for 10-15 minutes straight until she realizes. Today it was 17 minutes. THIS IS A REGULAR OCCURRENCE for at least two years now. We ordered 8 tacos and not a single taco was made correctly. Even after Laura repeated the order correctly on the phone somehow that did not translate to the computer. This is a family owned restaurant run by people who don't actually want to run a restaurant. My only hope is this place goes under completely so another descent restaurant can take its place but it's unlikely since the entire family lives in the backyard. Avoid this "restaurant" at all costs or risk wasting 50.00 for a bag of hot garbage food. We're having to make our own eggs to add to our tacos because some idiot wrapped 5 tacos with bacon only. Who tf orders 5 bacon only tacos? That's it, bacon and tortilla. Absolutely ridiculous. read more

Came here for dinner on a Friday evening, most of the tables were open so I wouldn't worry about being seated regardless of the time you're coming. They do seem to get a fair amount of takeout business, which we think contributed to our somewhat long wait time given how empty the restaurant was I went for the sizzling fajita taco plate, which was essentially a taco plate with rice beans and guacamole, with tripitas as my protein. The tripitas were out of this world and basically the sole reason for my 5 star review. Already my go to meat for street style tacos, this is head and shoulders the best version of it I've ever had. Their pieces are much chunkier than I've generally seen ordering tripas, which are usually small and crispy. This was like going from bacon bits to thick cut bacon If I were local to the area I'd absolutely come back and try their other meats, they noted lengua was their specialty somewhere on the menu so the optimist in me thinks they're just nailed street style meat across the board Overall, highly recommend coming here for a meal if you're in the canyon lake area. I wouldn't necessarily come here in a rush as it seems from other reviews they are on the slower side given their level of dine in business read more

Ordered the beef fajitas and they were tough and not edible. Had to ask for additional sides for the large fajitas order that I placed. Will not eat there again. read more

Great tacos, very reasonable prices! My family and I love going here when we are staying up at the lake.

I come from HTX to visit the hill country every year and this was our first time in Canyon Lake, this was the first restaurant we ate at this time! Clean and neat dining room, great homely (although a bit outdated) atmosphere with good music! The service was so polite and friendly, the food was great! Would definitely recommend! read more

Service was good even though we were 1 of 2 tables for an early dinner. I ordered the Chile beef relleno. A suggestion, melted cheese on top of the relleno is not authentic, but a warm homemade salsa instead. The relleno itself from what I tasted was flavorful. The rice was ok, not too flavorful. The frijoles charro were very tasteful! My husband ordered the beef enchiladas & chicken tostada. Flavorful. His wine margarita was just ok. Flour tortillas tasty. Chips & salsa good. read more

Great mexican food and good prices! Try the chiles rellenos!!! delicious!! Good ambiance and courteous service

Las Barcas is a great choice if you're in and around the Canyon Lake area and craving some yummy Mexican food. My parents live nearby, so this is definitely a staple for us when visiting them. The wait staff is always attentive and friendly. Lots of repeat customers, which is a really good sign in my opinion. I just recently did a to-go order and ordered a ton of breakfast tacos. I was pleasantly surprised that they had labeled all of the tacos for me, which made it really easy for me. Overall, I highly recommend this pace if you are in the area! read more

OK, so I was not going to write a review, but Yelp bugged me and I have a minute so here you go. I'm from California, so am used to very good hole in the wall Mexican food. Sadly, this place ain't it. Starting with the salsa and chips. The salsa tasted -- off. Like it was on the edge of going bad. Had a couple of chips worth and stopped. Chips were decent. Also had chicken nachos. They had guac, sour cream, salsa fresca, and shredded chicken. Really liked them! I had carne asada, wife had fish tacos. Fish tacos had HUGE fish in them! But, again tasted off, like the grille was dirty or used to cook all sorts of things, not only fish. So, not really a great place. read more

Queso is awesome but atmosphere seems dark and waitstaff do not seem happy. Plus they have a golden opportunity to showcase sports, soccer but they don't even seem to know what the World Cup is?? read more

Food was outstanding and the service was fantastic. This is a hidden gym south of Canyon Lake.

Great food. Friendly staff. Coming from Del Rio, this is the most authentic Mexican food in the area! read more

Wow! I had 3 different Las Barcas Enchiladas today. We are HUGE fans of their breakfast tacos and excellent service, So we wanted to try more of their menu. We got 1 ground beef, cheese, white onions and chili con queso. This was my favorite!! Perfection! We got the chicken Enchiladas with Poblano sauce..my husband's fav!! Delicious! And the cheese and onion enchilada with chili con queso and white onions on top! It really is hard to pick the best. Our son loved that one the best. The only thing that rivals their food is their customer service! shout out to Crystal and Daniel! They care a great deal about customer satisfaction. Over and above service. Highly recommend This place! read more

takes too long to get food oh, and to honor your hardworking employees, why don't you pay them more rather than asking your customers to do so? with that said, food is pretty good and wmployees friendly read more

Never disappoints, tasty and something for everyone!! We always have leftovers which is fun.

Queso compuesto was good salsa has a lot of chili powder but still good. My wife and I both ordered chicken enchiladas, I ended up getting beef by accident but it was still pretty good. Rice wasn't fully cooked but the beans were cooked well and had good flavor. Overall we enjoyed the food and would come back if in the area. read more

Our waitress, Tracy, was great! We'd been there about a year ago and she remembered my grandson's exact order. The food was delicious, best barbacoa I've had in years, but the service from Tracy made it the best. We'llmgo back more often!!!! read more

Once again the extremely poor service trumps the decent Texmex Mexican. The chicken tortilla soup and chicken fajitas are as good as anywhere. The servers are as bad if not worse than anywhere. It took three different servers to even remember the drink order long enough to bring it. Two servers to eventually acknowledge we were sitting there for ten-fifteen minutes. Tried three times for lemon for the drinks throughout the dinner to no success. After a miracle happened and the chips arrived, no red sauce, napkins or silverware. An order was taken about twenty minutes in. Soup and fajitas. Fajaitas show up with no tortillas. No soup. Another ten minutes and silverware arrives. More wait for the soup and three tortillas which did show up as the fajitas cooled off. Shorted one tortilla but beggars can't be choosey. Finally we beg for a check. Paying by credit is an extra dollar. Servers have no clue, no manager in sight. read more

Literally downloaded the app to leave this review. Service sucks. Zero communication between wait staff after being seated. The bathrooms were too funky for my 8 yr old daughter she turned around and walked out. Took 15 mins to get drinks. Hygiene is gag worthy. I moved here a year ago and tried it out and was very disappointed. Skip to last week thought 'hey I'll give em another chance' so I ordered to go for the family and they left a veggie mess on all three of my kids PLAIN cheeseburgers, I ordered chicken quesadillas and I'm not sure WTH I got but it made me gag. Spent $75 on trash. 0/10 for me. read more

This place is such a gem. The salsa was too spicy for my wimpy taste, and my husband was the only one who could eat it. However, everything else was so delicious. The charro beans tasted very authentic. I highly recommend ordering the Bistek Ensebollado. It's very delicious. They were a little bit understaffed, but Liz our server was hustling to get everyone taken care of. The overall atmosphere has a hometown feel, and sports were playing on the tv. If you are in the area, eat local and give this place a try. read more

The Canyon Lake area may surprise you, the food has a very good flavor, not over seasoned, not over cooked, very good services and the attention was phenomenal, I will return soon to improvise with the menu. Food and service were great! Corn tortillas were homemade and delicious. Will definitely come again!

Carne asada tacos were good. Salsa is spicy as hell. These are some good people working their asses off through a pandemic and doing the best they can. They were woefully short staffed, but made the best of it. Homemade tortillas and the queso was solid, too. read more

Foods ok but service is a struggle. We stopped in for a quick bite. I had the chicken taco salad, hubby had the cheese enchiladas and it filled the void. The foods ok enough that I would go back but the service is slow and sporadic. While we were there a table of 6 left as they could not get service. read more

I've only tried the Carne Guisada Taco and it was DELICIOUS! And my kids seemed to love they're chicken Enchiladas. So thumbs up all around!

Don't bother. You can hardly place an order for sub par food. I recommend that you go somewhere else.

Very good. Waitress attentive. Food fast and hot. Everything was delicious. I got the taco salad, my hubs got the taco, tamale, and enchilada plate. We literally cleaned the plates. Place was super clean..smelled like disinfectant. Will be back. Don't let other reviews scare ya...this is a nice lil casual place to fill up on great food. read more
