Ok I'll start with what I did like, the chips and salsa which were fresh and tasted home made. I ordered Puffy Tacos and I basically got a fried tortilla that was crunchy on the outside but still doughy in the middle. Not what I've ever been served as a Puffy Taco. I got one Chicken and one Beef. Beef had no flavor but chicken was juicy and flavorful. Rice was over salted. Refried beans were great. Since I was seated in a room off the main dining area my server didn't come to check to see if I needed anything. I had to flag him down after they finally seated other patrons in the small room. We were in town visiting my father in law and decided to stop in for a late dinner. The staff goes above and beyond to ensure you have everything you need. Our server answered about a dozen questions about the menu and checked on us frequently throughout our visit. The food was AMAZING and portion sizes were huge. The chips and salsa were nothing special but everything else was fresh, homemade and delicious. They even have homemade corn & flour tortillas which is something you wont find at most Mexican restaurants where we live. We definitely look forward to our next visit. read more

We eat at Garcia's every time we visit Seguin, which is about twice per year. I think it deserves four stars for the service, delicious tortilla chips and salsa (free and refillable) and the food. The atmosphere is pretty typical for a Texas Mexican food restaurant. This time we ordered Garcia's Mexican dinner (the carne guisada was very good) and the two crunchy beef taco dinner. The tacos were so full with ground beef that they were hard to eat without breaking. The refried beans are always tasty. Add a Modelo Especial and you have a winning combination! read more

Great service by a nice young man. Food not so great. We ordered the cheese enchiladas and asked to go easy on cheese. I got double cheese. Entire plate covered in cheese, I did not see the enchiladas. Really gross. I scraped off cheese and nice young server said he wrote easy cheese and asked if I wanted them to remake. I never return food, so I just nibbled at them. The chicken fajitas were not fresh. No flavor and very few veggies such as onions and bell peppers. We specifically asked for bell pepper because they only come with onions. Very small portion for the price. Tortillas were nice and hot but no flavor. Overall, I was not a fan of this Mexican restaurant. With so many Mexican restaurants around, quality needs to come first. I do not recommend. Garcia's is a restaurant that I used to visit often in Seguin. Quality food at a very reasonable price. In fact at some point we were going too much and just got worn out. My favorite aspect about this Garcia's is that they have a special of the week. It is usually one of their popular plates at a slightly reduced price. I have never been disappointed with the plate of the week and at some point I would order the plate of the week without even looking at the menu. Today I wanted some breakfast and didn't feel like cooking so I decided to visit Garcia's ( after about a two year hiatus). I ordered the Migas Nortenas plate and I was glad to see that the quality and flavor was still there. The service was great and the plate came out very fast. I wanted to take a minute to recognize Sandra Vasquez, manager at Garcias Mexican food in Seguin, Texas. Sandra went above and beyond to assist me. I live in Houston and was on my way and planned to stop and get their dinner but due to a traffic wreck on I-10 I was running 1 1/2 hours late way passed the normal time they eat. So my planI was going to order their diner and pay for it and have my nephew pick it up and deliver to his grandparents. Well they don't take Credit Card payments over the phone due to past problems, understandable. I explained the issue and she offered to pay for their meals. I really appreciated it but told her I couldn't accept that. I told her if she could fill the order so my nephew could pick it up I was about an hour and a half away and would stop and pay for it and thanked her for her offer to pay. She said that would be no problem at all and anytime I needed help like that she was willing to help. I made sure to thank her personally when I stopped and paid for the meals for my parents. When I tried to tip her she refused and said give it to the waiters so I did. Not only is Garcias food great it is due to Sandra's generosity and great service that will keep me coming back to Garcia's in Seguin, Texas. I hope her supervisor or manager sees this and recognizes her for her hard work, she definitely deserves it. read more

This is the second garlic location we have visited. Cute to see the same picture in the restaurant from the owners . Food was good ! Service was good. Although taking our order was a little longer we were still checked on my a young lady walking by asking everyone if they were okay. We did have our drinks and chips and salsa. Very sad to write this review because I was told this place was good. Well the flour tortillas were rubbery the salsa if that's what you wanna call it was just purée tomatoes with some hot sauce. I ordered migas which were ok. I didn't know they came with so much cheese but lucky I like cheese or I would've returned my plate. Well honey just because I'm from Texas doesn't mean I like TexMex food and that's exactly what this is. Not my preference and sorry to say not my taste. The plate presentation of food was nice but the gorditas were far from what I'm use to but the meat was genuine fajita which was a plus. Something tasted odd about the beans, maybe they were past their due date. I actually really did like the flavoring of the rice. The food kind of tasted old not the greatest customer service people seem pretty rude when you ask them for extra stuff

My husband and I went last night for dinner. They were very crowded and we were worried it would take forever to eat. We were seated in 5 minutes. Our waitress came to take our order within 3 minutes. We ordered different things and my husband special ordered part of his. She didn't write anything down. She went to the table that was seated right behind us and took their order. I told my husband if she remembers all that without making a mistake I will be shocked. Well she got it all right both tables. Everyone in the restaurant worked to make sure we had tea refills and extra napkins anytime we needed them. We didn't even have to ask. I was very impressed with the quality of the service. We left 30% tip. The food was great too. I had sour cream enchiladas and hubby had Garcia deluxe with a little of everything. It was so good. But what I love the most about that place is the amazing chips. They need to bag and sell those. Best I have ever had. Salsa is very good too. read more

I really enjoy Garcia's. The one on Hwy 46/I-10 is the location I prefer. Mainly because it's closer to me. Finding the Puffy Tacos on their menu was a real treat. You really should try them. Taco salad was a very large serving. My concern is that the beef was lukewarm as well as the lettuce, and now 18 hours later I'm battling nausea and a few stomach twinges. I'm focusing this review on their "Garcia's Chile con Queso" which is mixed with sausage and pico de gallo. This is a dish that is commonly available in Mexican Restaurants in South Texas, but Garcia's is up there in the top 5% of those I have tried. It's not a queso fundido like those south of the border, but it is excellent, and it comes with some way above average chips (totopos to you aficionados.) They are open for inside dining, but I recommend taking some home even if you dine there. read more

The ordering for Our table included a large variety of items everything from breakfast tacos to enchiladas, we all got a taste of everybody's food and the general consensus was that the food lacked in boldness,Flavor and seasoning with the exception of the Barbacoa which was excellent And the salsa was amazing. One thing I would like to point out that in my opinion is a big no-no when it comes to Mexican cuisine. while the tortillas appear to be homemade i'm almost certain they are not, they had that weird store-bought flavor and this weird peeling of the outside layer of the tortilla that also indicates store-bought. this actually took them down to two stars but The salsa And great service by their waitresses brought them back up to a solid three. I stumbled upon this gem by random. It was my first time in the San Antonio area, and i wanted some legit Tex Mex. I have only been here once, but the food was amazing.
