Food is very bland. Chips and salsa . Salsa is more like tomato puree. Not a hint of seasoning. Chips were cold. Chicken tacos were bland and very little chicken. Refried beans appear from a can. Rice has the texture of instant rice with a hint of cumin. Corn tortillas on the side were totally store bought. This is definitely not the restaurant I knew for so many years. Came on a random Tuesday for lunch. Parking lot was packed so we thought it had to be good. Not disappointed whatsoever ever! Chips were crispy, salsa mild picoso, plates were hot when delivered. I had the puffy taco plate: street size tacos jam packed with meat. Meat was well seasoned, shells were still ever-so-slightly chewy, rice & boracho beans were seasoned & flavorful. Enchilada and chalupa plate were just as spectacular. Best part: waitress was fantastic! Seguin has a legit Mexican restaurant to satisfy everyone's palate. read more

I had my movie premiere party and the food and service was excellent for about 50 people. I recommend El Ranchito for your private party.

They never have puffy tacos although it is on the menu. The waitress will take our order & come back later saying they are out of them. Also, they don't add cheese on their tacos & taco salads. read more

Great service and food at the new location. Yes, they have a liquor license now. On Thursdays, they often offer $4 margaritas and $8 enchilada plate (#12). Seriously, why go to NB, deal with traffic, get charged for parking, and have to wait 30+ minutes for a table. read more

Food is way overpriced for what you get. No cheese on the taco. Poor quality food. I've eaten way better for the same money. Don't waste your time and money. Drive a little further and go to Guadalajara in new Braunfels or Reyna's in Seguin. The servers and staff are great and provided great customer service! read more

Service was excellent. Ambiance is nice. The food was plentiful though didn't live up to my memory of the "old" El Ranchito location. The exception was the Chicken Embueltos. A favorite of mine that is still remains on point. The salsa tasted the same, though their salsa was a disappointment when I frequented El Ranchito in the 1990s. It tastes like crushed tomatoes and onions. No heat whatsoever. They still do not offer a spicy salsa option. I need the heat! I will go back for the Chicken Embueltos. And if my memory is correct, they used to offer a delicious King Ranch Casserole on a certain day of the week. Maybe Friday? If they still do that, I would give it a try. read more

I ordered a crispy beef taco and this was ok. The lettuce was chopped too big and the taco looked sloppy. The chalupa was a bean and cheese with their chalupa sauce and avocado. The refried beans did not taste fresh and about a tablespoon of avocado. I couldn't taste the sauce. The presentation was not there and the chalupa was not flavorful and this is because I added meat to it. The price is too high for a taco and the chalupa. I've visited 4 separate times now, I love their beef fajita nachos the first time I went but every time since the nachos are made differently. The first time I had them they were topped with bean, fajita, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and guacamole with jalapeno in the middle. Next time I ordered there was only lettuce in the middle and they added onions, then today there wasn't any lettuce and again onions. Additionally service was dreadfully slow and inattentive, we had to ask two times for almost any need, even though several tables had cleared out. And because I went with family total of 7 (4 adults, 3kids) we were charged an automatic 20% gratuity which typically is stated on the menu or a sign upon entering the establishment (maybe I missed it, idk) and I understand the need, but springing it on the customer without notice when they are checking out with the server at the table isn't a good way to do business, I also felt the server knew quality of service was lacking (the only downside to automatic gratuity). Service and food consistency seem to vary. If these things improved this would definitely be a 5 star experience. read more

I stopped in again today and decided to eat at El Ranchitio. I was pleasantly surprised to see they have a full bar now. TV's are up at the bar, very nice. Now they offer the opportunity to rent a part of the restaurant for parties. It seems everything is streamlined with the employees, including the back of the kitchen. The food was great before but has improved greatly. This small business operated by local owners has really bloomed and is continuing to be staple for this small town with 100 years of heritage. I would recommend eating here anytime. Everyone is friendly and the restaurant is extremely clean. If you don't stop for food stop in the bar for a drink and good company. Wish to welcome El Ranchito back into our community. From the moment we entered through the doors of your restaurant we were welcomed like family to have a seat at your table. Our server Matt R. was attentive, courteous, respectful, professional. He represented El Ranchito very well. My daughter & I enjoyed the same dish #9 Puffy Taco dinner. In addition, we ordered the #22 enchiladas with tamales. WOW! As we all know, we eat with our eyes first, smell second and third is taste. When you are served, the plate and food is both temperature hot as it should be (most places don't get this correct). The food on the plate was so beautifully laid on the platter, everything fresh and seasoned perfectly. If you've wanted to eat food like your grandmother would make for you - look no further El Ranchito is the place to go, to gather, enjoy the atmosphere, and make new memories. For not only their staff makes you feel at home the food speaks for itself in presentation, its aroma, and the spices that give it the lovely taste.
