My husband and I stopped by this Mexican restaurant expecting a welcoming experience, but that was not the case. We seated ourselves and waited for about five minutes without any acknowledgment from the staff. During that time, a white couple walked in and was immediately greeted and waited on before us. Only after they were acknowledged did a waiter finally come to our table. The experience left us feeling ignored and uncomfortable. Regardless of intent, this kind of service is unacceptable. We always stop here for breakfast while visiting Seguin, TX. The salsa was hotter than usual today, so I had to choose either my hot coffee or the salsa or my tongue would have burned up! You pay for chips and salsa for breakfast. I am not sure about lunch. Service wasn't as quick as usual. There were numerous wait staff standing around chatting before one came our way. After that, service was decent. The restaurant has a casual TexMex vibe. My husband loves the chicken fajita with egg tacos. I mix it up each time. On this visit, I got the Migas plate. Saturday morning breakfast review: Nice people, clean building/tables. Service was good and had no issues with wait time. I expected more from the food. Based on all of the good reviews I was looking forward to some really good Tex-Mex breakfast and was disappointed. Eggs were over cooked, French toast didn't have good mix, one piece was coated in cinnamon the other 2 had none, potatoes had no seasoning on them, and the barbacoa was greasy, fatty, and had bland. The best thing about my breakfast was the homemade salsa which I smothered over everything. It would have been fine that the eggs, beans, and potatoes weren't seasoned if the barbacoa had a stand-alone flavor but it was all just very bland. Probably won't try again. Can here since we had a few people recommend for Mexican food. Honestly we weren't impressed, if you're looking for traditional Mexican food; this is the place. I had asked for Chilaquiles, they weren't what I was expecting. My dish looked more like an omelette. I know this dish may be different since it's "Tex-Mex" but I lived in Mexico for 3 years and this doesn't come to it. The service wasn't terrible but definitely slow. My husband had asked for ketchup and it never made it to our table. You can see the waiters were running around and I'm sure they were busy. We tried our best to be patience. Wow, this Seguin restaurant is so noisy ! How can you enjoy the ambiance when you cannot hear yourself or waitress speak. The waitress should have been pro active and gone to each person and take our orders instead of us yelling across the table of four. The eggs on the Huevos Rancheros did not come like requested. The plate had to be returned and probably microwaved . Breakfast tacos were good except for the one with beans and sausage. Where was the sausage ? I wanted to order oatmeal , I asked for a bit of milk on the side a small creamer size. Waitress said they charge for a cup of milk and that the oatmeal already had milk in it. We were taking toll road headed to San Antonio and decided to stop in Sequin to stretch our legs and have Sunday brunch. Su Casa Cafe listed top breakfast place on google so decided to check it out. It was packed but service was very efficient and tables cleaned quickly. We were seated within 10 minutes or less. I ordered huevos rancheros and my friend ordered chicken fajitas. Traditional TexMex restaurant so fresh chips and salsa delivered immediately. Chips tasted freshly made and this was the best salsa we had ever had. I always order my rancheros sauce on the side as not all rancheros sauce are good. The best I ever had was a cafe in Rockport and this rancheros sauce was even better. Eggs cooked perfectly. Flour tortillas are fresh made on site and delicious. Best TexMex breakfast I've had ever! The most outstanding things about the meal were all the delicious salsas. My friend thought the chicken fajita meat was perfectly seasoned. We will definitely eat here again if passing this way. Service was very efficient. Oh I do wish i could get use to taking pictures to post. But I can tell you when it arrived it was as appealing to look at as it was Great tasting. To begin with the chips were thin and crispy and the Salsa hat just enough heat to be GREAT. We had the Ground Beef Nacho Plater. It had melted cheese lettuce and tomatoes and a large mound of Guacamole. We planned to share it but i couldn't resist ordering the Tortilla Soup. My soup came in a large bowl with nice large slices of Guacamole full of chicken, cheese and chips. It wasn't too salty but I didn't need to add any either. I fill up quickly so brought sone home. However my husband managed to clear the Nacho platter clean. lol. I did eat a few and had to agree they were great. We ask Maria which foods she might suggest for our next visit. She suggested we try the Enchiladas. Either one she said both were favorites. They must be doing something right because the place was busy but we received our order quickly and I really can't say enough about how good the food and service was. We have family coming in this next weekend . My Sister and her husband and one grand Daughter. I can Guarantee she will want to eat Mexican food and I know just were we will be taking them. Go by and give them a try Tell Maria if your lucky enough to get her as your server that we sent you. Did i mention the price is Great also. I love the food and salsa here, and usually the service is good. I live West of Houston and try to stop in each time I pass through Seguin, which is several times per year. This review is not about that, though does factor into why I gave Su Casa a "2" instead of a "1" after my last attempted visit. The restaurant hours state that they are open until 3 PM. Although I was hungry, as it was well past lunch, I held off eating because I knew that I would be there well before closing. I arrived at 2:40 PM and was told that they were closed to anyone other than To Go Orders. The restaurant was at least 1/3 full of diners. If I had slid in there as they were locking the doors, I would have understood. The service and food preparation are normally prompt, and I am typically in and out within 30-40 minutes. Needless to say, I was disappointed. If Su Casa closes to table service before 3 PM, then they should be clear about that in their posted hours. As it turns out, it may have been Su Casa's loss rather than mine. As a result, I consulted Yelp and discovered The Palms, a Seguin Mexican food restaurant a few blocks West on Kingsbury. Update: 10-2015, just had an excellent egg and pan sausage taco, and it was one of the best I've ever had. The tortilla was perfectly cooked (hot, soft, and lardy). The pan sausage was so juicy and flavorful. I also got a barbacoa which I found to be lean though a little greasy good. I chose a corn tortilla because they say that's how you're supposed to eat them, however this corn tortilla was gummy because it wasn't cooked all the way through. I will choose flour tortillas for everything next time because they were excellent. Because the corn tortilla wasn't done, and I want to try a lunch entree soon then, I may consider upping them to 5 stars. Old review This is one of the older taquerias in Seguin. Tried two of their breakfast tacos, a barbacoa and a potato and egg. The barbacoa was real fatty and left a fat film on your pallet, and the potato and egg wasn't that flavorful, with the eggs being a little diluted and the potatoes dry. The tortillas were good but seemed a little steamed. There are definitely some great taco joints in Seguin; I wouldn't put this place near the top of my list. This place was terrible. First of all, it took 45 mins to get our food, which was breakfast tacos, tortilla soup, and mini tacos. When it got to the table, it was pretty disgusting. The "scrambled" eggs were literally chopped up fried eggs. Why? Idk what is going on with their chorizo but it was seriously the worst I've ever had. It tasted like rotting meat, not exaggerating. Everything was cold even though the tacos were served in foil, which seemed questionable to me. I feel sorry for the people of Seguin if they think this is good Mexican food. While I was on hold, I could here all of the conversations. She was taking orders of folks that walked in while I was on the phone, had personal conversations that were wasting time, but the main problem was her attitude. When I told her I had been waiting over 17 minutes she barked back that she knew how long i had been waiting because she has a timer on the phone- did I want to place an order on not, she was very busy. Our family of 8 went for breakfast on our way back to Houston. They have a beautiful gazebo where we were able to eat and have our toy dog which was a plus since we were on the road heading home! The attention from the staff was very warm and nice. We ordered El Senor plate,omelets, pancakes, menudo, chicken tortilla soup and everything was delicious! The portion are very generous and they hand make flour and corn tortillas which were also amazing. Everyone cleaned their plate and we shared 2 desserts but the sopapillas were the best! They kept our coffee, soft drinks and salsas refilled at all times.
