I didn't care at all about the few dollar difference. was more about the principle of the matter. called the restaurant and spoke to Tiffany, one of the managers, who just dismissed the whole issue. she didn't care about finding out who the waiter was and didn't care about making sure this doesn't happen to anyone else. A positive from staying in is that I'm cooking breakfast, lunch and dinner (waistline not so good). Last night I needed something different, a hearty meal, preferably beef, so for the first time I ordered a true meal to-go from Texas Roadhouse. I ordered two 11oz Choice Sirloin steaks and a 16oz one (all with sautéed mushrooms & onions), Buttered Corn, Steak Fries and bread was included. I prepared myself for the journey to pick it up (some nervousness), bringing sanitizer and rubber gloves. When I arrived they had many to-go parking spots spaced out nicely, signs saying to text a number when you arrived, and 3-4 very smiling & energetic staff (all with rubber gloves). One approached my car, staying 3-4 feet away and got my last name, announced it and 15-30 seconds later another brought the bag to my passenger window and placed it on the seat. They were interacting at a distance with guests, wishing people happy anniversary and positive small talk. We enjoyed our meal as if (at least for me being I experienced the moments) we were at the restaurant. What a extremely positive experience. Very disappointed with the service at Texas Roadhouse yesterday evening . The place was busy I get it, but for our food to take 40mins, come out and look like it had been sitting for said 40mins. For my meal to be dry as sandpaper and my father in laws to be wrong... for us to have to hunt down our waiter because he hadn't even come out at all after taking our orders to have him just comp mine and my father in laws meals and not even ask if we wanted anything else. Also to being rushed to pay the check. Absolutely worst experience ever there and really turned me off from wanting to go again... also we were never offered refills, only got 4 rolls when we were a party of 5... just overall horrible... read more

Placed a pickup order for 7pm. I arrived at 7pm to pick up the order. Seems reasonable, right? It's 8pm & I'm now leaving with my food. Sat in the parking lot for an hour waiting on my order. Absolutely horrendous & totally unacceptable. They didn't even offer anything to make the situation right nor did they give their customers a heads up how behind they were running. Oh what satisfaction one can derive from engaging in what's typically subversive behavior! A visit is like the GTA IV experience but instead of violence/murder, sex with hookers, blowing shit up, drugs and stealing we embrace those impulses of carnivorous gluttony we normally suppress, holler wildly, drink gargantuan margaritas, ignore caloric intake while inhaling copious amounts of warm rolls and cinnabutter. Don't ask me how I ended up here with a couple of my friends but it somehow happened. Despite knowing my certain... foodie-like perspective on restaurants and my sophisticated, much-against-chains palate, they still managed to drag me there. The sad part is that I was driving and could have pretty much told them to 'eff off but I decided to go. After all, even chains deserve a shot occasionally. After walking in, past the glass-line fridge that showcased some of their steaks and various meats, we were escorted to a table near the center of the restaurant. There was a bar to our left and a bunch of random decorations including a rattlesnake skin, an Armadillo holding a beer and a bunch of other Western-themed items. It felt very tacky and the restaurant felt dirty. It smelled of peanut shells and they were present everywhere. Not too thrilled already, we were brought menus, peanuts in a tiny bucket with another one to dispose of the shells and some rolls which came with some cinnamon butter. Then we proceeded to order what was way too much food and way too many calories for one human being to process. Personally, all I wanted, was some steak. I didn't really care of appetizers but my friends went ahead and got us a baby blossom onion which is very similar to the blooming onion served at Outback Steakhouses. This deep-fried monstrosity of a dish features well over a thousand calories and is just about as unhealthy as it gets. It's covered in a batter and tossed in some Cajun seasoning. Although it tastes decent, it's just not worth getting just for the fact that you'll need a triple bypass after eating it. We also got their combo appetizers that included some chicken tenders, jalapeno bites and some potato skins. Needless to say, it was a nutritionist's worth nightmare and wasn't all that great - it was very greasy and I kind of felt like crap after eating it. Then came our entrees, and in my case, my 12 ozs of prime rib, served with horseradish on the side. I had green beans and a baked potato on the side and everything came out... bland. There wasn't much flavor in the prime rib and I had to add some salt to the sides to draw some of the flavor out. I ate about half of it before giving up on the entire meal. While it wasn't too expensive, the food just wasn't worth it. So what to make of this spot, which I'd like to say, is located in the middle of a parking lot - Well it's not all that great. It's a chain, which already means that I'm not a fan but it also served mediocre food in a tacky décor with a staff that can't hold their own. The service was very spotty and the waitress went as far as to sit next to us while taking our orders, which was both weird and somewhat unprofessional. I don't remember coming here and don't think that I'd ever go back, especially since there are more worthwhile, heart attack-inducing foods out there. I'd rather make it count! The Worst!!! Waited for salmon salad forever., over 25 minutes. Cobb salad style so should have bacon. It was a barely grilled salmon slipped on FREEZING cold salad tons of burnt croutons(?). Yeehaw indeed. A few words about butter. It is a wonderful, luxurious foodstuff in moderation. Buttered rolls with cinnamon butter BEFORE the deep fried appetizers and buttered steak is, shall we say, overkill. "You want your mashed potatoes loaded?" I was asked. "Uh, what does that entail?" 3 words - Cinnamon Honey Butter The ecstasy experienced by placing a combination of the bread and butter to your mouth surpasses just about every other pleasure of the flesh. The onion blossom can feed a family of 4 for a week, and the Alligator bites are the right combination of zesty and tasty I have never gotten my ribs/steak/burger cooked any other way than how I ordered it (which seems like quite the accomplishment in many places) and the vegetables or cooked very well as well. Being a private person when I dine out, this place is outlandishly awkward and crass with a Texas theme on the side. You wonder how Bush got this way! I had dinner at Texas Roadhouse with my family. I was there at 3:30 it was my son's 23 birthday. The Food was good but the service was lacking. I'm in the food business for over 40 years and I understand the industry in and out. I was there early because I don't to be rushed. But the problem was that the waitress just took our order and the next time I saw her before we even finished our meal she gave the check and said when ever you're ready to pay. I was shocked as hell I wanted to get a piece of cake for my son's birthday. But I was really upset and told my son that I will make it up for him. I paid my bill and I even left $25.00 tip on $90 check. It's just common sense to ask your customers if they want dessert. The place wasn't that busy for her to rush us out the restaurant. No need to order an appetizer cuz the bread and peanuts are enough. The bread is a soft glazed roll with cinnamon butter. It is a winner. Bone in ribeye with a loaded baked potato will leave you feeling good. The deliciousness will release endorphins and lift your spirits. Walking into the restaurant made me feel like eating out in Texas. The decorations were authentic and the interior was well designed. When we sat down, they gave me peanuts and warm bread. We had to ask for the peanuts and but they gave us the bread immediately. The peanut is an interesting idea, I am not too big on peanuts, but it definitely keeps you busy while waiting for the food. The bread they gave was amazing. Most places give you bread, but the bread here was the best I have had. Probably it is just sweet dough, that's in a lot of butter. It was warm, fresh, and tasted absolutely amazing. The service was decent, the manager happened to stop by to say hi and the waitress was prompt with everything we asked for. And I was definitely a pain in the ass. We didn't have to wait very long for the food, it was not exactly a busy time either. Just to note, that this is the 3rd time, and I didn't have to wait long all 3 times. This time, we ordered Fried Sirloin, and Fall of the bone rib, I didn't know what Fried Sirloin was, and it was a mistake, too much fried breading, but maybe others would like it better. As for the Fall of the bone rib, it was burnt. I am really cheap, and I still think the price is reasonable. Since I have been here 3 times, I would say that everything is pretty great, but the food each time give me the feeling of meh..... I love it, but you might not. I think the Texas Roadhouse appeals to the suburban child/ carnivore in me. I always get the smallest (6oz?) filet, always rare, and it's always perfect ("always"= 3 times). They also have this awesome bread- warm, fluffy, and oddly sweet, but very tasty. Unfortunately, after two of my three visits to this joint, the friend with whom I was dining felt ill. I was really impressed by this place. I haven't been to a Texas Roadhouse since my days in Cincinnati. My sister and I were over by Costco and decide to give it a try. We were quoted 20 minutes for a table for two at 6pm on a Sunday but it only took about 10. Plus there are barrels and barrels of peanuts all over the place to keep your hands and mouth busy while you wait. You can even watch other steaks being made. We were seated in a cozy booth for 2 and had a view of the whole restaurant. It is a little dark and a little loud and you better not go in there if you are allergic to peanuts. My sister is on a very strict diet and can only have a little meat cooked with no fat or sugar and a vegetable prepared the same way. When she told the waitress how she wanted her food the waitress said she was sure she could make that happen but would check with the chef. She then came back with an explanation of exactly what the chef would do to make sure my sis was ok with it. Her food came out exactly like she wanted. If you have ever been here you know about the rolls and the cinnamon butter and the only thing to say about those is please do try them. They are fantastic. I haven't had any of the apps inyears, but for dinner I ordered the strip with a plain sweet potato and steamed veggies. My steak was juicy, flavorful and cooked perfectly. I expected it to be tougher than it was, honestly. The onions and musrooms that I got on top were delicious as well. If I wasn't n Weight Watchers I would have had the marshmallows on my potato, but that is a different story.... The food is good, but remember this is aplace that stands on chairs to sing happy birthday and does line dancing in the middle of dinner service, so beware. read more

Remember Office Space. Jennifer Anniston's character got in trouble for not having enough "flair" I think she worked at Texas Roadhouse. First off, when you are trekking through the plaza with Costco, Home Depot and Target, you get hungry. This place has a huge customer trap on top of it. I.E big smoke pipe on top that wafts the smell of their food. it smells damn good. You walk in and there are peanut shells everywhere and an overly perky big hair frosted lip stick chick plops a big silver bucket of peanut on your table. They ask for your drink order while smacking their gum. These servers take their job seriously. The problem is they all look alike and there are 1000's of them. Just grab any of them. I can't figure out what the different color shirts represent ..maybe some hierarchy between server, hostess and manager. Who knows. So I have been here a few times and ...hey...it is chain food. What do you want. Nothing gross about this place. Nothing great. It seriously is a place close by to satisfy your hunger. Ribs, burgers, sandwiches, pasta....typical. I can not for the life of me see people setting out to eat here, but they are always packed. Only two negatives on top of the average place that it is. First, the whole crew of servers broke out in a line dance several times throughout lunch/dinner. I couldn't figure out if it was a birthday or if someone got a big tip. They all stopped what they are doing...ran over to one spot and broke out in dance. It was bad. The dancing was very bad. Folks were scared. Babies were crying. Kids were throwing peanuts. It was road house mayhem. Second, the music is so loud you can barely hear anyone around you. It does block out the crying babies....but don't expect an intimate romantic setting. If you want a lot of meat and the opportunity to revel in being an American (because where else could a restaurant like this exist?) go to the Roadhouse- but go early, becuase it gets seriously packed. I showed up one rainy Saturday at 7pm and the wait was 90 minutes...just to put your name in. I recommend the steak with melted cheese (an old family tradition I've never seen anywhere else) and the mashed sweet potatoes - which the waitress offered to serve with either regular butter, honey cinnamon butter, or whipped cream and caramel. Came here the other night with a friend. It was my first time here, but he's been numerous times before and raves about it. I ordered the country fried steak with chili and mashed potatoes, and he ordered the country fried chicken with apple sauce and baked sweet potato. Prices were pretty decent. The food was really mediocre at best, but maybe it was just what I ordered. I could barely put a dent into my food and still felt like I'd eaten 200% of my daily allowance of sodium and fat. The fried skin of my steak was thicker than the steak itself. Is that normal? Also, we swapped pieces of our entrees to try, and I could barely tell the difference between the two. I guess when meat is deep fried and slathered in sodium and fatty gravy, you can't really taste the meat itself anymore. Mashed potatoes were decent but could've been warmer. Chili was a little too salty for me. I guess I was sort of asking for it, but I felt like I was stepping into a stereotypical restaurant that supports the American obesity epidemic. I'd give them 5 stars for the service though (but I chose to only rate based on the food). Our waitress (her name is TARA. just an FYI if you're the manager) was great. I could tell that she was busy, since it was a Friday night, but she was always attentive, nice, and quick with her service. Yes I did just give this place a 5/5 review. Meat lovers rejoice! The food here is incredibly good. I ordered the Beef Tips with 2 sides: mashed potatoes w/ everything (cheese, bacon, and sour cream) and the cup of chili. The chili was the perfect portion and had a nice kick to it. The mashed potatoes were so creamy and whipped. The best part of this is that it was really cheap and I had leftovers for 2 days!! If I could, I'd eat here everyday. read more

Our waitress was Tara B. and she was awesome sauce. She was so attentive. Our drinks were refilled just before it hit the bottom before we even had to ask. There's been very few times I've experienced that in my life and I'm in my 40s. She was super friendly and very attentive. The sweet bread and butter is to die for. The ceaser salad had the perfect amount of dressing, not too much and not too little. My steak was perfect and tender. Oh, and I got the entire meal free because it's Veteran's Day and I'm a Veteran. Thank you Texas Roadhouse for giving back so generously to those who served. You don't have to do that and I appreciate it very much and will be in again. I will not be as harsh as the prior poster, but this is a chain restaurant and as such, its just okay. Its nothing special and it sure is not a diamond in the ruff. The only thing it has going for it, is that you can throw peanut shells on the floor *laugh*.... Although the staff was very friendly and accommodating, the food however was not. I was sorely disappointed since the TX Roadhouse in Texas (yes, they do have these in Texas and the one in Austin is supposedly owned by Willie Nelson) does have some pretty good food. We started off with rolls and cinnamon butter. Simply divine! The disappointment came with the main entree. First, we were told that they did not have any more rare or medium rare prime ribs so then we ordered the medium. Then about 30 minutes later when one of our tables had their food arrive, our server tells us that there is only one medium prime rib left. So I relinquished my thoughts of a tasty meat and took to the menu for some other options. I finally decide on a pork chop which came out overcooked and missing my side of mashed potatoes. I'm slightly embarrassed to admit that I love this place, but I do. So I must. Yes, it's a chain restaurant and yes, it's decor is slightly tacky and generic. But let's get to the good stuff: The minute you are seated, you are given a basket of the warmest, softest mot delicious rolls you've ever had. But wait - it gets better. The rolls are already buttered, but you are also given a sweet glaze butter that seriously makes these things taste like donuts. The steaks actually are very good! I'm from the Midwest where steaks are just always good, but I've had difficulty finding good steaks in New England. These are tender, cooked well and flavorful. There's also a great selection of sides to choose from. So, yes - going here is like going to an Applebee's or TGIF's, but whatever. The missus and I order the fried onion thingy that everyone knows, she has the steak kebabs and I have the 16oz prime rib (the only thing I order at a steak house), both rare. Sides = chili and rice for her, corn and mashed for myself. Food comes out soon after. Utensils come later when I had to get up and go to the kitchen to get it myself (strike 2). Good - prime rib is really rare (I like it really bloody). Bad - it has no flavor. Ugly - my sides are as cold as my super rare meat. Come on, I know it's a $20 steak but still, how can prime rib be so flavorless? Did they even season the roast before roasting it? The onion thing is too heavy on the batter, but not disgusting. The little lady's rice and kebabs are cold as well, gross. Waitress is now hounding us, rounding over to our table every 2 minutes or so to see how we're doing. I eat at superhuman speeds and as soon as I finish, out goes my plate. Give the waitress 2 more minutes, she asks if my girlfriend needs a box for the food. She has eaten maybe 5% of her dish (strike 3). Really? Anyway, my girlfriend doesn't really like the food, so we take the offer. Waitress comes back with the box and asks if we want dessert. Before I could finish my sentence, she is gone and back with the check. Technically, if you're keeping count, the waitress has already struck out, but here's another strike. I was so unhappy with the service (and I'm really easily satisfied) that for the first time in my life, I didn't tip 22-25%. I gave a very average 15%, which was still quite generous. Came here couple months ago and got perfect steak but today... Ordered medium rare and came out medium well so I requested to cook again but came out rare rare that I couldn't even cut with my steak knife and the manager told me I ordered medium rare and was too cooked for me so they cooked it to be rare without even asking. Going to start off by saying the food is almost always good and probably worth 4 stars. The service (rather, the server) is what drops this down to 2. Arrived at 5:40. Plenty of time for the Early Dine Special. 10 items for 7.99 if you ORDER (Please note the operative word) before 6PM. You can be seated before 6 but if you order your entree at 6:02, SORRY CHARLIE. You LOSE! (Nice huh?) We were seated immediately by a pleasant young lady. Warm yummmmmmy bread and cinnamon butter. (Heavenly). I'm clock watching for the waitress. I am determined to be part of the early dine club tonight! Waitress arrives (I'll refrain from her name) and right off, she's got ATTITUDE. No greeting. Just- Can I get you a drink? I advised her we knew all of what we were going to order and could I place it all now. ::eye roll:: Sure...... Iced Tea, mini onion blossom... (I'M ADVISED- NO MINI BLOSSOM ANYMORE!!) OK- Regular blossom (which feeds like 5 people!) Off of the early dine menu, we'd like.... WAIT. SHE HAS TO CHECK THE OFFICIAL TRH CLOCK TO ENSURE WE ARE NOT TOYING WITH THE EARLY DINE GODS! Lucky us! It was only 5:50!! Pulled Pork Dinner- sweet potato/corn. Excellent. Corn did not initially make an appearance until I asked for it. (She tried to tell me I had ordered a salad. Rifled through her order pad...Ummm-NO. Just bring my corn) Chicken Critters- mashed potatos/corn. Hubby said all was excellent except she forgot the dipping sauce. Had to ask for it, get the eye roll and then the sauce. She came by one more time to see if we wanted dessert. (Nope- way too full) I asked for 3 to go containers which she promptly brought. The bill was brought to us very timely as well. Total cost with tip.... 31.00 Food was very good. Service sucks. It's hard to support a place that has apathetic staff. On a very ironic note..... Do you usually like hip places, supporting local businesses, eating organic, and trying new ethnic foods, but every once in a while you get SO SICK of it and just want to escape? Well when you are in that mood, this is the perfect place to go. Imagine every place in Inman Square. Now imagine the complete opposite. That's pretty much Texas Roadhouse. Big with a huge parking lot, free peanuts and amazing bread, super-loud country music with occasional dancing by the servers, very friendly non-pretentious service, and huge portions of delicious comfort food (even most of the salads have egg and bacon plus the yummiest homemade dressings you can imagine). In conclusion, this place is RIDICULOUS!! I love it so much! PS in the same plaza, if you feel like indulging your consumerist side, you'll find Bath and Body Works and a gigantic gorgeous Ulta plus some other chain stores. read more

Where else can you get free peanuts? Seriously, I want to know. I love peanuts and getting them literally by the bucket-full is awesome. I also love bread, so heck yeah to that too! And getting a pulled pork dinner for $9 with a giant sweet potato and giant salad included is fantastic. But I hardly eat any of the meal because I've stuffed myself on peanut sandwich rolls! mmm And you can grab a bag a peanuts to go! read more

Oh Roadhouse, you get such a bad rap for being a chain, and corporate. Foodie snobs hate on you. But not me...I love you.. yeah, L-bomb, I said it. Give me your chicken, give me your giant oversized margaritas, and even try to tell me a tuesday is a friday, I'll still love you. Sure you're coporate, sure you're family oriented, sure you don't have anything super special, and your chefs are all trained by watching VHS tapes. You still deliver a darn fine meal. Texas-Butter House Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING is cooked in butter here. I have been here 4-5 times and for the longest time couldn't figure out what made everything so damn delicious. I was fortunate enough to be seated next to the kitchen recently though and saw the secret to their witchcraft. BUUUUUUUTTTTTTTTEEEERRRRR! I'm fairly certain I saw a chef pour a ladle of butter over our steaks, and ribs (both damn tastey by the way) To add insult to your arteries try their cinnamon butter on your already butter basted bread.
