For all of the hype and renaming, this place did not come anywhere near the reputation it carries. We went for dinner on a week night. I got there 1st, they greeted and seated me. The storyteller came by and being a clueless novice, I engaged him. It may have been THE Dale Wamsted. After he left and the server came by, I advised I was waiting on guests. He promptly disappeared for 30mins. When he came by I wrestled him to the table where he touted their flatbread with jam. I agreed and he left. The belle of the ball came by as my flatbread came sans jam, chatting up tables. She left to get the jam. The server zoomed by, saw no jam and also went to get jam. Both servings of jam came out, one was serendipitously taken back as my guests arrived and the storyteller lauded Texans manners. The flatbread was meh/med/unimpressive. The belle, storyteller etc except the server kept coming by while we were trying to eat, to speak like they were bored though there were other patrons. The main courses were equally unimpressive. We came on. Saturday night around 7 pm. We had made a reservation for 7:15, so we waited for a little bit for our table to be ready. The sax player then started playing the National Anthem. Everyone stood up and started singing! It was so touching.... I loved the fun ambience and live music playing in the background. Then we were seated at our table. The waitress, and several other people came and introduced themselves and talked to us and made us feel really welcome. Several people came through that were regulars and were getting hugged by the waitresses. They really make their customers feel at home. As for food, we ordered the calamari for appetizer. It came with sprinkled with an Asian sauce with some kick that I loved. We then decided to have the Prime Rib for two that came with two sides of your choice each. We ordered the same sides: whipped potatoes and roasted veggies. The waitress prepped our table, they put down our sides, then the prime rib arrived and it looked gorgeous! My husband really liked it. I thought it was a little tough though for medium. I'm used to it being very tender, like butter when slicing. But the seasoning on it was great! We then got coaxed into trying two desserts since this was our first time here. My husband wanted to try the strawberry cake and I had the strawberry ice cream with grand marnier. My mom ordered the most expensive steak. Her steak was $72. It was inedible. It was literally burned almost like beef jerky. She took the whole steak home to her dog because she didn't eat any of it and her dog wouldn't even eat it. These people should be ashamed. She should've been offered her money back. You have to be good if you bear the name Texas! And such as the case with Texas Steakhouse located at the Jupiter exit off of George Bush Tollway. I highly suggest reservations because the weight can be pretty substantial here. We had reservations and still waited an extra 25 minutes in order to be seated. But I can be forgiving since it is the holiday season and many families and businesses are going out to nice dinners together in order to celebrate. Once seated our experience was pretty good. Our waiter was fantastic and the supporting staff of the waiters is very efficient too. We started out our meal with the appetizers of calamari and bang bang shrimp. Why both were good in my opinion the Bang Bang Shrimp was slightly better than the calamari. But honestly both had the same taste with the same bang bang sauce so it really just becomes a preference between shrimp and calamari and I will take shrimp every time on that one. My main course was the Domenico steak. It is a prime rib eye. It was pretty good but did not really set itself apart from other good ribeyes at other top end steakhouses. For dessert I had the lemon cake which was absolutely delicious. It was for layers with a nice lemon sauce in between each of the layers. It was served with a few dollops of whipped cream which offset the lemon flavor very nicely. The one thing that I did find a little strange was when I made reservations. They asked me if we were celebrating anything special and I told them that my daughter had just gotten married the day before and that we were celebrating their nuptials. There was never a mention of congratulations from any of the staff. Usually when a place asks and you tell them what you are celebrating there is at least an acknowledgement from a few key members of the staff if not the hostess themselves. The owners daughter came to our table to welcome us. Looking to wash my hands, the restrooms are located by the kitchen and like the main building, they were spotless and well decorated. We started our meal with calamari which was served in a bowl. It was slightly breaded with a sweet and spicy sauce. I had the rib eye and wife the pecan chicken. Please note both meals come with 2 sides unlike other similar steakhouse that you need to pay for the sides. Since a rib eye was on the way, I needed asparagus so a side was ordered. While we waited for our meal our glasses were filled with water and we waited for the magician to come to our table but I guess next time. The food arrived with complimentary bread. Wife said the meal was ok yet chicken was dry. The steak was 100 perfectly cooked at Medium temperature. The asparagus were flavored in butter and spice. We ended our meal with bread pudding which was the perfect period at the end of the sentence. Look this was an A+ experience yet you pay for this kind of dinner. We reserved a private room so when I checked in, I was immediately led upstairs and was pleasantly surprised by the large group of business professionals very well into their Happy Hour drinks on the second level. We started with an appetizer sampler which were individual servings of 2 Bang Bang Shrimp, 1 crabcake, and 1 devil's tongue (beef tenderloin on toast). Can you say yummy with me?? Loved them all. Bang Bang shrimp was flavorful and had a nice kick, crabcake was delish, and beef tenderloin was very tender. I had the 8 oz filet with burnt corn and lyonnaise potatoes as my sides. My steak was cooked perfectly but in my honest opinion, could have used more flavor. I liked my sides but weren't too impressed. When it was time for dessert and you ask about their selection, allow yourself a good 5 minutes for your server to list and describe every option.. because yes, they have that many.. perhaps too many! I chose the strawberry romanoff which was just mediocre. If you come for any reason, come for the experience this restaurant will give you. Before our food arrived, a professional magician came into our room and gave us our own magic show. We were soooo amazed! It was certainly enjoyable and entertaining. The entire wait staff was also courteous and not to mention fun! What topped it off is Dale, the owner, came to our room, greeted us and spoke to us for some time. I suspect many of the employees are fantastic but Danny is the best service we have gassy in the United States. The best was the AU Prime rooftop in Prague. Our glasses never went empty at Texas. I recommend coming at 4 to 5 bc it got busy but the for was good. Danny has a bright future. We are from New Orleans and love live music. The traveling sax and guitar was spectacular. There really weren't any glaring negatives but room for improvement considering the price point. Upon entering, my expectations dropped a little. The hostess/foyer area/waitstaff attire wasn't what I was hoping for or expecting. It felt like a hotel restaurant. A couple of TV's, a sort of strobe light and waiters passing by in country themed uniforms. All of the staff was polite but just not as polished as your accustomed to at a nice steakhouse. We ordered an onion ring appetizer, wedge salad, I had the filet w/ green beans and mashed potatoes and hubs had the ribs w/ cole slaw. The wine list was skimpy but I enjoyed a Malbec and Pinot Noir. I was pleasantly surprised by the entree because the $10 wedge salad was just as the waiter described, 'nothing special, just like any other wedge.' The onion rings were good. They were seasoned well and lightly fried but expecting them to be overflowing off the plate for $8. Instead we received 9. It was probably a good thing that the couple we were supposed to dine with canceled. I'm sure it would have come down to rock, paper, scissors for a 3rd onion ring. My steak was good quality, cooked exactly as ordered and the sides were above average. The ribs were decent. I wouldn't order them over the steak but wouldn't turn one down if one was offered either. Booked a reservation for dining room seating on Open Table for 7:00. When we arrived at 6:55, the entry was packed with people waiting for tables. Checked in and were told we would be seated right away. At 7:12 we were brought to a booth in the bar and told we had to sit on the same side of the booth to social distance. No other booths were doing this. The booth next was just vacated and we asked to sit there. They told us we couldn't because other people were going to sit there. We asked if we could just sit across from each other and they said no. There were no other seating options so we told them that it was fine and we'd take our business somewhere else. I understand we are in a global pandemic and Covid is a threat. However, one employee is wearing a sequin mask with holes in it and they pack all the waiting guests into the entry completely ignoring social distancing. Every single spot at the bar was full and no one was being asked to social distance. I've never been asked to sit on the same side of a booth with my wife. It's a not that I'm against it, but I'm hard of hearing and like to see my wife when I talk to her in a noisy environment (it helps me to see her lips). The fact that a completely empty booth with empty booths on either side was available made it puzzling why they were trying to tell us how we had to sit in a booth. I'd love to tell you that that food was great or the server was fantastic but the hosts pretty much chased us off with a non-sensical seating arrangement. Probably won't come back but they obviously have enough business and don't care. At least it felt like it. P.S. We went next door to the Silver Fox and they were very accommodating. Texas put a smile on my face because it gave me cruise ship vacation vibes. I came on a Saturday night and was immediately greeted by the fireplace and some wonderful live saxophone music (The same musician later switched to blues guitar which was nearly equally entertaining). As I walked upstairs to my table, I noticed the kitschy decor and wall treatments. Our table ordered a few steaks and a couple burgers. They all came out cooked to the temperature we specified which ranged from medium-rare for me to medium-well for one of my friends. A very enjoyable dining experience for a special occasion or date night. The hostess and servers were all gracious, courteous, and professional. The owner made his rounds to ensure everyone was having a pleasant experience. We had to wait about 20 minutes for our 7:30pm Friday night reservation, which we could have supplemented with a drink from the large bar. Wines and cocktails a plenty. I did have the Cowboy Old Fashioned later which was smooth and yummy. However, while waited an older gentleman was entertaining the guests alternating between his electric guitar and saxophone. He began playing the Star Spangled Banner and literally everyone in the restaurant (guests and staff) stopped, stood and faced the giant flag on the wall, placed their hands over their hearts and began singing the National Anthem. #GodBlessTexas Dinner was excellent. We started with the Fruit & Cheese plate which featured perfectly crispy toasty bread and fresh cheese and fruit. The homemade raspberry jam was outstanding. Next was burnt corn and crab bisque - delicious - accompanied by fresh baked bread and homemade butter. #MmmButter Our entrees were the Delmonico Steaks - tender and cooked to perfection (medium and medium rare). Sides were roasted vegetables, lyonnaise potatoes, burnt corn and whipped potatoes - top notch all. We saved room for dessert - chocolate cake with pecans - accompanied by a robust coffee. Not Texas style bread of any type. The fried corn is an attempted rendition of a great hobo recipe from Shreveport, but they don't know how to cook it, so it tastes terrible.. The NY strip was ok. the mashed potatoes are loaded with "trash", so nasty! If you served these potaoes in France they would kick you out of the country! Wife and I were craving Lobster Thermidor for dinner and this was the only place with good ratings and within a 10 mile radius that had it, so we made the drive. The parking lot was full, understandable for a Saturday night, but we were lucky and got a spot close to the front door. The hostess who welcomed us was friendly, as most of the other staff we encountered. Everyone working here was dressed in Texas themed outfits. The restaurant decor was interesting. Fresh cut flowers in vases placed near every booth, painted walls, and antique looking light fixtures and booths. There was no wait and we were seated in a corner booth overlooking the front door with a view of the rest of the dining area and the wine rack . The only issue with our booth location was the cold air draft every time the front door was opened, but this was not a deal breaker. The restaurant was full with mostly senior citizens at the time we visited and a little loud with people chatting. Country music played in the background to go with the Texas theme. An older gentleman whom I presume is the owner walked around and greeted all the diners. He stopped by our booth to welcome us and ensured we were comfortable. Our waiter Mark was attentive and quick to take our orders. He just forgot the bread, but another waiter quickly brought it to us. We ordered the House Pinot wine and the Texas long island ice tea for drinks. Crab and corn soup for appetizer, and the lobster thermidor for the entree. The wine was good, the Texas long island ice tea was sweet, but was weak on alcohol. The crab and corn soup was tasty. This was our 2nd visit to Texas and it is just one of the best places to go on a date night with my husband of 30 years.
