Poor communication, unreliable, and unprofessional. My husband and I had raccoons in the attic at a rental property, and we spoke with the owner about the cleanup after they were removed. He was at first extremely helpful and knowledgeable. We scheduled with him the next day to come by and take measurements, then to start the actual project 3 days later. My husband arranged to meet him at the property for the measurements while the tenants were out of the house. The appointment was for 2:00. At 2:45, he had not shown up, had not contacted us, and calls were going straight to voicemail. I called him from my phone, and he answered right away (which confirmed our suspicion that he blocked my husband's number). I explained we had been waiting for him for 45 minutes, and he said that after running numbers he's just not going to be able to do it. I can totally understand having to turn down a project, but intentionally ignoring phone calls and standing up a scheduled appointment for 45+ minutes was extremely unprofessional. A simple call or text prior to the scheduled appointment time explaining that he wasn't going to be able to make it or complete the job would have been perfectly acceptable and understandable. After reading other reviews, this sounds like his typical behavior. read more

My complaint is not that he didn't honor the warranty it was about his level of customer service which is non-existent. He hires sub-contractors to do the work and he just collects the payments. I purchased the 1 year warranty to have critters removed from my attic. In the first few months there were no less than four technicians that came to my house. Poison has not worked, and after a full year and 7 or 8 visits I still have a rodent problem. I am considering legal action at this point to try and get my money back, since I now have to hire a company that can actually get the job done. Victor did an awesome job at our house. We had rats in the attic and they were getting in from the roof due to shoddy home builder workmanship. Victor and his son got on tall ladders and put screens on roof vents, put wire stops in all of the brick weep holes, trapped and caught several rats in the attic. We are completely rat free now. Victor is very thorough and he cares about getting rid of these creatures from your home, they are dangerous...can cause fires and spread disease. I would almost call him the rat whisperer because he tries to understand rodent behavior....in order to get rid of them, he tries to think like them. I called the major pest company we have a quarterly contract with, but they could not come out to give an estimate for a week. I call Texans 1 Rodent Removal at 10:00 and Kenneth was at my home by 12:30. He was very professional and knowledgeable. He quoted me a fair estimate. He put in a one way door for the squirrels to vacate the attic, and he sealed the access hole. We called Texans #1 Rodent Removal in July and signed a contract with a 1 year guarantee that rats would not re-enter. On the initial visit, Ken came out very quickly and assured us that if we still saw any traces of rodents, he would keep coming back to fix the problem. We did, and scheduled a 2nd visit which he missed due to (what he claimed) was a customer mix up. No big deal. When we called to reschedule, we mentioned the mix up to his office just to get a 100% confirmation on a date/time. He came, but was very upset/agitated about it and began cursing. Since that visit, we have seen some trace of rats and have tried calling to schedule yet another appointment since PER THE CONTRACT WE HAVE A 1 YEAR GUARANTEE, yet Ken has either stopped answering our calls/responding to our messages or we suspect, blocked our number. The contract still has 7 months left to be honored. In any case we still have a rodent problem, are a few hundred dollars out, and had to deal with his complete lack of professionalism. So I am going to start by saying I am probably their worst nightmare of a client. As a typical female the second I realized we had raccoons living in the walls/attic of my house, above my kids rooms...I googled & read everything I could, freaked out, and called a dozen places wanting someone to come RIGHT that second & haul them away. Yes at 11:30 pm. Much to my dismay that isn't how it works. I spoke with at least 10 companies the next day. Prices seem to be the very similar of the 2 that could come out that day & would quote me over the phone. So I hired this company as they could get there first! The two companies I narrowed it down to had very different methods & I was super unsure of who to go with but I wander proof these free loading rodents were gone!!!! So Victor arrived that morning. I was very concerned about how long those stupid coins would be living in my house! I hated that the process would take days but no service had same day removal haha. He set up a trap and each morning I checked. It seemed to take FOREVER!!!! I started to lose faith and bugged Victor daily!!!! He put up with my and my many texts/calls/questions & concerns and was always polite despite my often annoyed tone. He said it was the longest time to first catch he ever had....11 days....but on the 12th morning we had 2 juvenile coons. He kept going for 2 more weeks. The day after the first catch he added a second trap and we caught an adult. Unfortunately that was not to be the end...we were STILL hearing noises! Then a day or two passed & we caught a 3rd juvenile & he even came out on July 4th to take it away. We knew there was one more cause my husband had seen a glimpse of it when he went into the attic to check & it was hanging out by the cage with its trapped coon friend. So Victor kept going and didn't charge us more $ despite his contract being fulfilled. He caught one more juvenile around day 17 I think. After giving it a full week to be sure that was it, he said he would return to "sanitize/bomb" the attic space & close the hole. I was constantly worried and skeptical but he always handled himself professionally and he got the job done at a resonant cost. Expensive Trap - for $514.19 10 day trapping session. While my daughter was staying with her elderly grandparents in North Austin, she heard some noises that seemed to be coming from the attic. Texans #1 Rodent Removal was contacted because neither of my parents are very mobile and could not handle the steps to climb into the attic. The trap was baited and placed in attic. Nothing was heard and the noises went away after a couple of days. The $514.19 had been paid up front which was a mistake on our part, so there was no chance to get a partial refund. After 16 days, a neighbor climbed into the attic and removed the trap because we had not heard from the company. It was discovered that the trap door was not set and had been latched to the cage, there would be no way an animal could have been caught. The company called to come by and get their trap. I asked questions on what exactly the $514.19 included. They explained that the deal was for 10 days trapping service regardless of the # of animals caught. If the trap had caught something there would be enough racket for someone to hear and my parents would call and someone would come collect the animal and reset the trap if within 10 day. My parents had also understood that this amount would cover blocking any entrance areas that existed, but when I spoke with the company he said this was not covered. As I asked questions trying to understand what the agreement was he become very angry, said we could keep the trap and hung up. I would not recommend this company based on this experience. read more

We live on edge of a canyon back in the woods with coyotes, raccoons, and foxes. Next neighbor is across the canyon. We are truly in the woods. I initially called them back in May for a raccoon problem in the chimney and attic. Their technician Victor came out and was able to get rid of the raccoons and seal the the area they were using to get in. Yesterday they were back in the chimney. I called their service and Victor came out again to do an inspection found that I indeed had raccoons again. The initial contract I signed in May stated that tree limbs must be kept cut back from the house. One side of the house does have some limbs that have not been trimmed. This should have caused the caused the contract warranty to be void. But Victor said he would still take care of my raccoon problem at not additional cost to me. I am so grateful to Texans #1 Rodent Removal and will continue to call on them for any rodent issues that may arise again in the future. The post says they're open 24/7, but that's entirely not true. They will answer a phone until 10pm, but cannot send anyone out after normal hours. Well, when we called at 7pm, because the raccoon was actively IN the attic he couldn't send anyone out until the next day at noon. Let's be realistic here, we all know they leave the house during the day. So, when the technician comes out at noon, surprise, the raccoon isn't in the house. You can no longer hear baby crying for mom, and mom has left with baby. There are prints all over, yet this technician spent the first 20 minutes telling us it was squirrels. Really? We saw the raccoon, and if these prints are realistic, that's one huge 20lb squirrel. Let's not forget that this champ was entirely unable to physically search for the entrance into our attic. The man was barely able to maneuver the stairs into the attic, let alone limber enough to balance on the rafters around the duct work. He was unable to get on the roof and search. There have been a lot of issues over the last several weeks while dealing with my rat problem, including a rat accidentally sealed into my bathroom wall and squealing his little head off (that was a rough evening for me, and I imagine even worse for Bathroom Rat.) However, I highly recommend this company, especially Victor, which is who I've been dealing with. I see a complaint that this company doesn't honor their warranty, but I assure you that is not the case. Victor has come back out several times since being paid the balance of the original contract to cut out foam (to hopefully let Bathroom Rat out), to reseal, and to put down and then retrieve more bait tubes. There turned out to be a very large number of rats (mostly outside, thankfully) and I don't think anyone would've been able to get rid of all of them on the first try. I really liked Victor who works with this company. He was responsive, timely, and willing to work with our somewhat complicated schedule. He is very knowledgeable about rats and rat behavior and makes recommendations based on experience. He made a recommendation about sealing off the entire house but we decided to just do the lower story, so he made additional common sense recommendations like not letting trees touch our roof and placing bait stations around the house to supplement his interior work. I was a little nervous when approached about a maintenance plan for bait stations, but he was upfront about the fact that although we could probably do what he does at a slightly lower cost, he knows what to do, how to do it, and will stay on top of problem. I do not doubt if we tried to do it ourselves we would maintain them about as often as our a/c filters (not good!!!). I did not get that slick salesman feeling from Victor and he was sympathetic to financial constraints and provided back up options. read more

I got two quotes for rodent control. The first was by another company who said sealing would be simple since I only had a few access points. This company was going to trap rats for several weeks before sealing any access points. The thought of trapped rats lurking in my attic didn't sit well with me so I decided to get a second quote. When Victor from Texans #1 came out, I knew immediately they would be my choice. First, he walked me around my entire house and pointed out every single possible hole and crack that rats could make their way through. It was clearly not going to be a simple quick seal job like the first company represented. Then Victor explained his process for eradicating the space from rats, which luckily didn't involve trapping. Victor thoroughly explained how the entire process was going to work and set very clear expectations. His knowledge of rats was impressive and I immediately felt confident and comfortable choosing his company for the job. Each week, Victor came to my house at the time he said he would and gave me status updates to keep me informed along the way. This past weekend he completed the project by sealing all access points. Additionally, he fogged the entire attic with sanitizer, which isn't something most other companies offer to do included in the price.
