Service was fine. Nothing extraordinary, but decent. The food itself was mediocre. We have been for both lunch and breakfast. Breakfast was okay, pancakes were crumbly and bacon was severely undercooked. Today was our last and final visit. Our fries were burnt and old on two dishes, and fresh and hot on the other. The food was luke warm after sitting in the window for ten minutes waiting on the one batch of fries. The burger is hyped up on the menu stating it's part brisket but it does not meet expectations. It was bland and honestly not that great. I think the menu could use some improving and offer more variety. Overall, the customer service is fine. With an open kitchen you can see the way the kitchen staff works, and really it just seems like they need a boost of motivation. The food comes out okay, when it could come out great. Finally after three months of living in the DFW area we have found good food in a restaurant! We will for sure be back to work our way through the menu. I had a patty melt which was cooked to perfection on homemade bread even. French fries were fresh potatoes and even the side of sliced pickles were homemade here. Today was our first time to visit. It wasn't terrible, but I was disappointed. My son refused to eat the "Mac and cheese" one because it wasn't Mac and cheese it was penne in cheese sauce, I wish I had known what to expect bc I would have ordered something different. But when I tasted it the pasta wasn't even cooked enough. Not like al dente, it was almost hard. I had the cheesesteak, I usually get cheesesteaks any where I go that has them. It's one of my favorite things ever. This one was not very we executed. First problem was the bread was completely soggy. Like falling apart soggy and not from the cheese sauce. It had to have been sitting for a while and the fries weren't even warm. Then I realized it had red onions. Usually when some thing says onions I'll ask what kind (I'm allergic to red onions-I know it's weird but they make me very sick, white are fine) I should have asked but I've never seen anywhere have grilled onions (especially on a cheesesteak) and it be red onions not white/yellow. My husband was happy with his rajun Cajun sandwich. Then the check came and the cheesesteak was $5 more than the menu. I saw the notice on the wall in the entry way that said the fried steak was $5 extra, but didn't see anything about the cheesesteak. I DEFINITELY would not have gotten that sandwich for $16! I went to the bathroom and on the way back I saw a different sign than the lobby sign which had the cheesesteak written on it as well. I'm actually most mad about that. Because I read the sign in the lobby never saw another sign until we left that had the sandwich on it too. The door was being held open for us when we came in so I never saw the sign in that door. I waited tables for 15 years, if anything changed on ten menu and someone ordered it, I made sure to tell them. I'm not blaming the server, there should be stickers or something actually on the menu items stating a price change. We had mentioned it was our first time there so I think maybe he should have said something but again I don't blame him at all. Our sever and all the staff were very friendly and honestly that's why I didn't want to complain to them. I know none of this was their fault. I just wanted to let you know about everything because you can't fix it if you don't know. Also I don't know if you know but the creamers on the table say Keep refrigerated. Stopped by around 10:30 on a Saturday and only waited about 5 minutes to be seated. The menu was plentiful and the service was great. I had Eggs Benedict and subbed the ham for avocado. My husband had the special of the day "Steak Asada" and he ate every last bite. We shared a Texas shaped chocolate chip waffle and it was quite tasty! The coffee was solid and the FRESH squeezed orange juice was supreme! They have a machine that squeezes fresh juice. If I could give this restaurant 6 stars, I would! The staff was so nice with great recommendations. We ending up with the chicken fried steak dinner and pecan pie. The waitress also brought us a taste of their Thursday soup special - beer, beef and cheddar soup. I can't even explain the amazing flavor it had. My family and I had an exhausting day after multiple flights canceled. We sought a meal and I randomly picked this place from a road sign. It was nice and cozy. The friendly waitress kindly informed us to order fast because the kitchen was closing soon. (In our exhaustion we didn't notice the between lunch and dinner close.) Apologetically, we quickly ordered. They went above and beyond, not knowing what we had been through. Their patience, kindness, and compassion was refreshing. My daughter is a bit picky so she didn't eat her Mac & cheese. It was taken off our ticket without even asking. They sent us off with take out drinks and a friendly smile. I want to give five stars, but our server was having a bad day I guess. We are in town visiting our sister who is a Texas girl and we are from California and expected more southern hospitality. We discussed it in the car and thought maybe she needed better training. Everyone else in the place was super nice. But they could have team worked a little better. First time eating here. Busy Saturday morning rush (11:00 am) and there were 6 of us. 2 omelets, one burger, one salad, and one special (farmers chicken). Yes, we had to wait to be seated, yes, we had to wait for our food to cook, and every single one of us absolutely loved what we got. Our highlight was Diana (princess Diana) who was as great of a southern hostess as you will find. Sweet, helpful, made sure we had everything, and even noticed my mom getting a little chilly, so she turned the fans off without being asked. 3/6/20: I'm a breakfast guy. Been here several times. Each time was pleasant and the food was great! But not this time. Maybe it was my timing, I arrived around 1pm. Could be that they have a morning breakfast crew that knows breakfast better. If the place was busy, which it was not, it would make what I was served more understandable. I had the Build your omelette: sausage, cheddar cheese and hash browns. Omelette over cooked and oily. Side of hash browns undercooked and oily. Short stack. Large pancakes dense and heavy with an oily aftertaste. Coffee was good! I appreciate that they have real half & half. Place is clean. My waitress Kimberly was friendly and attentive. Did not have to wait for a table. Besides loving breakfast and always looking for that next great breakfast spot...I also love pie! What I loved about this place is they had great breakfast and awesome pie! Not a combo that I typically come across. Their banana cream pie is to die for. Warning: it is so rich that you will need coffee or milk to cut the delicious sweetness. Their coconut cream and chocolate cream pies are really good too! Overall, I will give this place another chance during breakfast hours and hope that this was just a fluke. If I had written this review after my first visit, I would have given this place 5 stars based on the quality breakfast and awesome pies but today's visit has left me disillusioned with their breakfast which is way I am only giving them 3 stars. We were working in the area and searched for a local spot to have lunch. After reading the website, we decided to eat at Texan Diner. Read the reviews on Yelp as well and thought it was a no brainer. Unfortunately when my water arrived there was a small piece of food on the rim of the glass which I pointed out and the server apologized and brought me a new water. When my food arrived I saw what appeared to be a tiny hair, I jokingly told the server that it must not be my day and showed him the hair. I thought it was an eyelash hair but it was actually quite longer as i pulled it out of the food. The server offered to bring me a new dish and that's what happened. When I ate my food it was average in my opinion a little too greasy for me. Not bad, but not great either. read more
