TLDR: a sudden increase in patrons due to social media probably gave me a different experience than if I had visited before last weekend or visited during the week. I might try them again another time and see if I have a different experience. I saw that they had a $17 buffet on Tik Tok so I decided to check it out with a friend. A lot went wrong that was out of the restaurants control- they had no idea that someone posted them and were not prepared for the sudden influx of people. We waited and waited and waited to be seated and then had to wait again for the buffet line ( over an hour and a half before we were eating). They had two servers for the entire restaurant and those women were hustling. The restaurant has a tin roof and with all the people going in and out and the hot grill at the back, I felt like we were eating outside. Everyone was sweating. It.was.so.hot. When we reached the plates for the buffet line , they were all greasy as if they hadn't been washed properly. The food wasn't bad, but the best things by far were the pancakes and French toast made to order . I also liked the cheddar sausage and biscuit. The people are nice, the food is decent and worth the price , but the long lines, the heat, and the greasy plates didn't allow me to really enjoy my meal. read more

On the weekends they do a buffet, and there can be quite a wait. It's one of the few local businesses in the area, surrounded by chains popping up along 287. Sometimes the staff have human emotional reactions to customers taking out their impatience on them, such as sighing or feeling overwhelmed I'm sure. One of the benefits of being human is giving them the benefit of the doubt while they're doing the best they can! Beacon Cafe has my fav pancakes by far in DFW. They're perfectly fluffy every time. The cafe, like many other local options, encourages cash payments (though still takes card, for the record). Not unheard of considering how much credit card fees can affect a small business. There's always ihop or Waffle House if that aspect is so bothersome! read more

This was a buffet style breakfast but they also have a menu for those that are looking for something particular. The staff was super friendly. My coffee never got cold or low. The fruit was fresh and full of flavor. The egg/omelet station was faster than I expected. The pancakes were great. The French toast was a surprise because it's like 2 inches thick lol. Checked out Beacon Cafe. Was initially annoyed bc someone posted about it but it isn't in FW proper...so had to drive a half hour. Soooo worth it. Everything we tried was next level....cold brew with cold foam (I had 2)...pancake trio (blueberry w/ lemon curd butter + pineapple upside down + cinnamon roll)...migas. So many items are housemade. Found this place on a search for brunch and it was a win! On Saturday and Sunday they have this INCREDIBLE BUFFET for only 16.99. I had the Breakfast Avocado with bacon and it was so refreshing and delicious. My fiancé had the buffet which included an omelet, pancakes and French toast that he was raving about. One of my favorite places to eat breakfast! The menu items are overall great, with generous portions. But if I was to suggest anything, is to come in on a weekend and have the buffet. They serve French toast, specialty pancakes (cinnamon swirl, pineapple upside down, blueberry, strawberry, and their most recent- blueberry lemon curd *absolutely delicious*) Scrambled eggs or omelettes freshly made to order, bacon, sausage. Watermelon juice or pineapple juice Bread pudding Biscuits and gravy Chicken enchilada And some spicy foods for those who like a kick in the mouth. Fresh fruit with really sweet and ripe berries, grapes, and others The environment encompasses a retro feel with large restrooms and good music playing. This place is a 10/10 highly recommend! The pancakes are made to order and are so good! Crispy edges and you can get a variety, like strawberry, pineapple, cinnamon swirl or others! We have now tried this place three times. The first time we went, our waitress did not even tell us about the buffet breakfast. She told us after we ate and paid for our meal. I ordered the classic breakfast. 2 eggs, bacon, toast and potatoes. I ordered the eggs over easy. They came out and they were rock hard. The service was standard. Nothing special or memorable. Hubby said the corn beef was good. Gma said her breakfast was cold. The second time my husband and Gina went by themselves. They ordered the buffet. They said that the biscuits were hard, but other than that everything else was decent. Fresh omelet station was the best thing about it. We decided to give it another try this morning. It is so close to our house and would be great! Unfortunately i think this was the last time. Our waitress was great when she took our order. Annnnnnd that was the last time we saw her. My husband had coffee and before we even got our food it was empty and never refilled. A runner dropped off our food and we didn't see anyone until it was time for our check. I ordered a burger this time. It would have been decent, but they put the deconstructed burger on the plate for me to make myself, which is fine. However, it did not have may on it, so i waited 15 minutes for someone to come, when no one did i went and asked someone near the Buffett area. Now my burger was cold. And they put the top bun on a lake of liquid so it was completely soggy. Honestly for a $20 burger, it was a waste of money. Our waitress was amazing and no complaints about her service. They advertise being #24 in almost 1200 restaurants in Fort Worth, but after eating there today, either all standards are lower now or The Beacon has really dropped the ball. We have eaten at the Beacon for many years, starting at the original location on the airfield and the food has always been wonderful until today. I ordered my usual French toast breakfast. The whole reason I love it is because they use almond flavoring in the batter. Today, the bread was more stale and harder to chew than usual, the whipped butter was a cheap margarine, and the French toast tasted eggy, with no almond flavor. The meal comes with eggs and sausage or bacon. I chose bacon and scrambled eggs with cheese. The bacon was very old and cold and tough like it was left over from early morning cooking and the eggs were cold, strong tasting and there was no cheese in them. Even the syrup was a poor quality. What happened to the great food and quality ingredients?! I asked the waitress if there was a substitute chef today or if there were new owners. She said no. I told her about the food. She told me she paid for my meal. I certainly hope not. I left her a nice tip, but if she comp'd my meal, the cafe should've absorbed the cost and not the waitress. In the end, my daughter said she wished I would've cooked it for her at home instead. She had the same meal and was disappointed also. I'd like to say I'd go back and try again, but this might be the last time for me. Breakfast entrees are $14.99 each and it's a little costly to gamble on whether it will be good or not on the day you go. Update: I'm changing this from 2 stars to 1 star based on the sarcastic and rude response of the owner/manager. I stand by everything I mentioned in the review. I was never given an opportunity to have my breakfast remade or I would've accepted that. I didn't wait to leave to make a review. I actually spoke to someone while I was there before I ever decided to leave a review. I never even mentioned pralines. In fact my review is on point with no exaggeration. The bacon was really like beef jerky it was so tough and cold, but I didn't want to sound too harsh. Everything else was as bad as I stated above. If quality ingredients were used to make this meal, something happened to where it wasn't quality when it was served to the table. That's not on me to figure out, that's on you. I would never post something that is untrue. Everything tastes great, breakfast and lunch! Service is fast and friendly. LOVE the Hash and Eggs + Pineapple Upside Down Pancakes!!! Sweet Tea with a Lemon and I'm good to go for a few weeks... then I crave it all over again lol. We use to visit when they were located on small airport runway because our Kids loved that.
