Like others have mentioned, I could cut the Chicken Fried with a fork. Great crust, great taste, with great gravy. The Green Beans were perfect for green beans. And the Home Cut French Fries were as good as they come. On a downside that wasn't their fault... Getting out of the parking lot is a nightmare. If you have to go North, you're probably ok. Going South, East, or West is impossible... To turn and go East, you have 40 or 50 cars bumper to bumper waiting to make a left at the 287 freeway. Because of lane closure, going West forms one lane, to the left, still blocked by the same 40 or 50 cars bumper to bumper. To make my point better, the 40 or 50 cars waiting in line to go West, then South on 287, affects all three directions. East, West, and South. I was optimistic to make a right, then get on the access road going North. My plan was to exit soon, then make a U-turn. However, I was almost in Wichita Falls before I found a way to do this, and even then, I had to merge in traffic going 80 mph, from a stop sign crossing the medium... No acceleration lane at all... Worst breakfast and it was a one and done. I ordered the chicken fried steak with the gravy on the side. Came out to me with gravy all over it. Had absolutely no flavor at all in the breading and the meat was rather tough. My husband ordered the French toast which tasted just like bread and nothing like French toast is supposed to. Today we were actually on the way to IHOP in Saginaw, but decided to give Texan Diner a try since it's been a while. When we arrived right before noon it was popping with people! All the tables were occupied so much so that there were no menus available. Not a problem since we used Yelp to peruse anyway. I haven't had a Monte Cristo sandwich since Sweetipies Decatur closed, and theirs was a smidge too sweet for me. So why not try Texan Diner's? It's savory with the bacon, eggs and Swiss cheese all packed between deliciously made French toast, and topped with powdered sugar! It's served with jalapeno raspberry jam which gives it a little more sweet, not overly. It's a huge sandwich and my goodness I devoured it. My daughter enjoyed her Rajun Cajun sandwich which is what I almost ordered. And my husband said his meatloaf was delicious (what he ordered four years ago). I had to laugh...restaurant was described as fancy. While my sis was having her Nails done I decided to give this rest a try. I've seen it many times but the name and location didn't grab me. Ordered the meatloaf, prepared at the restaurant with gravy, Garlic mashed potatoes, Mac n cheese, green beans. I couldn't help but notice the dessert case and went for it. What arrived was scrumptious! Excellently prepared and tasty. The blue negative critique is the greens beans, potato's and Mac n cheese arrive "cold". The meatloaf and gravy was piping hot. Regardless the food was delicious. Meatloaf was wonderful, Wrapped in bacon and topped with breaded stringed onions. The gravy was homemade. It's billed as a shiner Brock brown gravy and it compliments the potatoes and meatloaf perfectly. Th green beans are freshly prepared and seasoned. Mashed potatoes had the right amount of garlic. Enjoyed them. The highlight was the Mac N cheese. It was cheesy. Yo could taste the cheddar. Superb! Finally, Triple coconut cream Pie with coffee. It turned my whole day around. This is a stand out bright spot for breakfast and lunch in Haslet, Texas! The food is always great! There is really nowhere you can get real southern grits I've found in Texas that even closely rival what you can find in Louisiana. I didn't like any of the food. It had a different taste, but not tasty to me. The food seemed customized. For example, the grits were mildly spicy with cheese added. To be fair, the waitress sort of informed me of how it's made. I was hungry and thought I'd give it a try. My pancakes were very unique, and I didn't like the texture. I only liked the pecans on them. I figured I'd try the diner out for the first time. My server was decent though. I will also mention about a waitress that was eating while working, and had bumped my chair without excusing herself. She was about middle-aged with dark hair, on the shorter side. She sort of had a serious or slightly mean expression. I won't be coming back. read more

Great food, however pay with cash or take a picture of your receipt. We went there a lot, however we noticed that we had a charge on our credit card that did not match with our records. Someone accidentally put our bill total as the tip, so instead of paying a little over $40 we were charged over $70. When we went to talk to the manager, Chrissie, Front Manager, she confirmed this happened and told us we needed to come back when that server was working and get the refund for the over-tip back directly from the server. We figured it was an honest mistake on the server's part, however did not feel the manager handled it appropriately. We have not been back. AMAZING! I will say we came here at 1:30 so lunch rush had passed, but even if we were here while it was super busy the food is worth it. My Texas cheesesteak was phenomenal, the bread flavor is perfect for this sandwich. My husband had the Stockyard omelet and said it was stuffed fuller than he's ever seen. My mom's Chicken Vera Cruz was delicious, her only complaint was the green beans being al-dente, she's a smushy green bean person. I won't be back. It's difficult to want to return to a restaurant in which you don't feel welcome. This is a breakfast and brunch place, which is no doubt popular on a Saturday such as this. The closing time was 3 PM. I walked in at 2:40. Any later, and I wouldn't have come in. But I was alone and I'm a fast eater. I was out by 2:59 and the staff still had work to do unrelated to me, so I'm confident I didn't keep them. This did not deter the lady at the bar top from being borderline rude. It was subtle. Reminding me of the time. Standing over me as to rush me while I looked at the menu. Pointing to the side items on the menu without a word. Filling my soda three times when it was 2/3 full to begin with. Passive aggressive "Enjoy your meal". Scowl on the face and annoyed attitude. Thanking the kitchen profusely for my plate right in front of me as to apologize to them for having to continue to work within working hours. I felt unwelcome and rushed. An addendum to my review of four months ago. They have rescinded the ridiculous egg charge, but have steadily decreased the size of the pancakes until they are now about 60% the size they used to be. Um what the heck! So good! I could not believe how every item was so good. We are foodies and couldn't believe this hidden gem to be out here verses more into the city. This review can't do justice, just go try yourself. Only thing I'd say wasn't an absolute knock out was the coffee. It's just very average compared to everything else. This is our second time here. Even though we made the mistake of coming in at noon on a Saturday. Wow this place was packed. That's always a good sign though. I think we waited for 5 minutes and our server came right up to us. So all the food around us looked great. I like to look around and see how people are enjoying food and what they're eating. All good signs for this place. Our server was awesome. Talked to us but not so much that it interrupted our time together. She had our coffee mug and water topped off all the time. Yes! We chose breakfast at lunch. Love places that give that option. I ordered a new omelette they came with meats and two cheeses. She recommended the home potatoes. My wife wanted French toast and eggs. Stopped in here for a quick breakfast on the way through. Food was mediocre at best, definitely over priced. $5 for a "large" orange juice in a kids size cup was kinda crazy. more like a 3.75 out of 5 stars. coming back from Decatur i wanted to grab breakfast and saw this place in the town of Haslet. It was just myself, and i was able to get a seat quickly and service was prompt and friendly. I ended up getting the monte cristo sandwich with a side of grits and i also ordered a side of biscuit and gravy. It was honestly so filling i only ate 25% of the sandwich and took the rest home. I really like how they provided jelly as it went really well with the monte cristo. This place is located in the back of a tiny shopping plaza and is not too far away from the 287 freeway. read more

Visited Texan Diner with some out of town visitors for breakfast a while back. The restaurant wasn't busy but it was still early. The had ample seating space and yet we were seated right next to another group in the back next to the kitchen so we had to hear a lot of the kitchen noises during the meal. The food was delicious. Specifically I ordered the breakfast Chicken Fried Steak and it was cooked nice and the gravy was delicious. I didn't vibe with the restaurant so it was okay but I'm not running back anytime soon. They offer a nice variety of homemade pies, breads, and jams for sale. read more
