We took a spontaneous late lunch breakfast for a fun change of pace today at Huckleberry's. Very quiet at 1345 in the afternoon (yea), but our new food adventures were super yummy and attractive to the eye and smell. Service was outstanding also, as usual. I had a blast with the Bananas Foster French Toast platter (French Quarter New Orleans style). Everything was delicious and not too sweet. The French toast is a sourdough bread. I loved my first fried green tomatos. Such a unique flavor, mild and delicious. My wife LOVED her Tom's Scramble. Buttermilk biscuit with Huck's Country Gravy and yummy eggs and sausage. The food was horrible!! We ordered the MississippiSkillet. It was all just potato's, could not find the meat in the dish. They charged me $3 for huckleberry topping. The topping came out ice cold. You could tell that it was canned. The potato's in the skillet were not cooked all the way and the vegetables were not cooked either. I wish I had not paid $32 for a meal we did not eat. The waiter took the plate away noticing we had not ate and said nothing. I wish I had took pictures. The "beignets" were these dense balls of dough. Served on a plated of cold goo. Deciding between The Riverboat and The Cajun, I opted for the latter. The waitress informed me that the Creole sauce had a subtle tanginess. The tomatoes and sauce added a touch of zest to the eggs. Because the omelette itself did not satiate me, I still had an appetite for the rest of my order. The temperature of the potatoes was a pleasant surprise. Instead of being hot, they were warm, allowing me to enjoy them without burning my mouth. I ordered the sourdough without much thought. I intended to get it dry to pair it with the orange marmalade. The bright yellow color of the toast led me to believe it was soaked in butter. In reality, their butter is simply very yellow. An untouched Huckleberry muffin at a nearby table caught my eye, and I could not resist ordering one for myself. Although it was available as a side dish, it was definitely not a typical side. What a diamond in the rough! An absolute #hiddengem. For a franchise, someone in here really cares. The place was family friendly, and bustling with excitement. A large team of employees and no one ever stopped, sat down, or was caught lounging. Everyone was working, and working hard. The bloody mary was well balanced w Zing Zang, and the girls had Swamp Tea, which was a Huckleberry adult cocktail, which was incredible! The menu comes with a full presentation, if you ask for it, and we did. The muffin was the clear winner, it was like a very light pound cake, and out of this world! The 1/2lb chicken fried steak platter, with 3 eggs, was all the food you could ever want! I couldn't even finish it! The home style fries come well seasoned, but the hashbrowns are equally good, so there's no wrong decision here. The pancakes were light and fluffy, but they had nothing on what could be the best waffle in town. Great place for brunch. They have lunch all day. Seems to be a popular place. We came at 9:30 am on a Sunday. We had a party of 7. The booth was comfortable. My spot on the table was a bit dirty. The tables were roomy for the large plates they give you. It got busy by 10:30. We definitely want to try the beignets next time or stuffed French toast. This time we got the chicken fried steak and Cajun Benedict. I'd get the chicken fried steak again. The potatoes I could probably pass on next time. The Cajun Benedict wasn't bad. We visited this after attending a Veterans Memorial mid afternoon. The restaurant was very busy, however the staff were friendly and welcoming. Our server Noah was extremely helpful explaining specials and favorites. There were 6 of us in our group and everyone had breakfasts, except me. I chose a Chicken Salad which was the saddest salad I had ever seen. Unfortunately I think that's something that I should not have ordered, as I don't believe they known for, so I blame myself. Everyone else ordered breakfast plates and said they were delicious. Specifically the Bananas Foster French toast was amazing. It has nice decor and very clean family atmosphere. I love this place! Huckleberry's has such a warm and welcoming vibe the moment you walk in. The staff is always super friendly and really makes you feel like they're glad you came. And the monte cristo was good, but different. The batter is a French toast batter and I didn't care for it as much as the original kind of batter you can get at other restaurants. Huckleberry's reminded me of our trip to Zion where we had Huckleberry pie but there is quite a difference in the scenery here. It's a refurbished Dickies and they dressed the place up Cajun style plenty of room and friendly vibe abounds. Breakfast, brunch and lunch closes at 3pm. Really glad we stopped our server Noah did an excellent job making sure we had everything and helped explain any questions we had. Wife went with the fish with sweet potatoe fries and I had the Dixieland Steak Sandwich with fries. The portions were hearty and we enjoyed every bite while sipping on Southern Peace Tea and a Iced Carmel Macchiato.We really enjoyed this place and it's in our area of frequent travels so we'll definitely be returning looking forward to giving the breakfast a go. We couldn't wait to try this much talked about new restaurant out. Since we live down the road we saw it was always packed the first month and decided to wait a couple months. Our day came and we went to late breakfast/brunch on a weekday. There was still a few minute wait for the four of us to get a table. They definitely get a for the decor inside. You almost feel like you're sitting in an airboat in the swamps of Louisiana. What's funny is the company started in California though. So the service is really good! Our waiter was friendly, fairly prompt and helpful. Many choices on the menu and we split between lunch and breakfast. I ordered the Louisiana omelette and it was good. Not great. The potatoes didn't have along flavor to them. Under seasoned for sure. My wife picked the Cajun omelette. Hers was also good but under seasoned potatoes. She also got a huckleberry muffin - which we were all very excited to taste. Big letdown....it was very dry. Not great when we didn't even finish it. Another chose the Bubba burger which comes with a sunny side egg on top. She said it was ok. The last person said their eggs Benedict was good. Overall, more hype than great quality food. For the price I probably wouldn't come back and wait in line.....when there are a lot of other good breakfast choices close. read more

Dined it at the restaurant for lunch on it's opening day. Despite the hustle and bustle, our party was fortunate to get a seat relatively quick. Service was excellent and everyone at the location was very friendly. Staff seemed to be very aware of customer's needs with refills, clearing the table, and answering questions. Seems they were well trained to prepared to handle the needs of the restaurant and it's patrons on their opening without any issue. Garlic Toast/Bread - It seems so simple. The toast is just a slice of sourdough bread, but the spread and the way it's toasted make this very simple item incredibly appealing. Chili Soup - This soup was hearty and had a reasonable amount of seasoning without being too strong. Made for the general public and is an easy go-to side or meal when paired with their garlic bread. Gumbo - The gumbo here is a bit more mild than what some from the south would usually serve, but I can understand it appealing to the greater majority of people. It's not an overbearing flavor, but it's good. It doesn't taste as overly seasoned and has an almost creamier flavor to it. It had good chunks of sausage, okra, and chicken. Fried Green Tomatoes - The FGT here is good. Breading was crispy and the tomatoes were thick cut and meaty. The sauce that comes with it was delicious. Louisiana Catfish, Bayou Style - The catfish wasn't some small filet. It chunkier than what you'd expect from some of the other chain southern restaurants in the area. Fish was well seasoned, but not overly done. Fish was not dry in any way and had plenty of flavor. The bayou style topping of tomatoes and mushrooms was a fantastic accompaniment. Food came on a warm skillet, not overly hot, but definitely not cold. Entree also came with their amazing sourdough garlic toast and your choice of soup or salad. Overall, this restaurant is a solid addition to Keller. I actually prefer the items here over any similar-to items you can get at establishments like Pappadeaux. The service was quick and friendly, food was good and at a reasonable price point for the quantity/quality. I'll definitely need to return to try the breakfast menu. read more

We were visiting my family in the mid-cities area and saw that there was a Huckleberry's and had to take them! We had tried the Huckleberry's in the Sacramento area and thoroughly enjoyed it and I'm happy to say this one was just as good! My family had been out to eat quite a few times on this trip and we all agreed that Huckleberry's was the best food hands down! We got the huckleberry lemonade and strawberry lemonade -- both delicious. We got the shrimp po boy, breakfast burrito, stuffed French toast, Mississippi skillet, and crab cake Benedict's and we were all very pleased with our choices! Had the chicken tenders or I should call them chicken fingers. A rather small portion. The four pieces were no bigger than my fingers. Unfortunately they were blah, dry and a bit chewy. Not good.
