The interior quality is phenomenal, and I absolutely love the car. Dako was transparent, knowledgeable, organized, and extremely efficient. I told him my budget upfront, and there was no back-and-forth--he worked hard to get me exactly where I needed to be. The entire process was smooth, clear, quick, and completely transparent, with no hidden fees. He was attentive, detail-oriented, and very respectful of my time. The whole team at Gerald Hyundai was professional, welcoming, and never pushy. This is my fifth lease with Hyundai, and I couldn't be happier. The 2026 Santa Fe is a completely different vehicle--it drives beautifully, feels incredibly solid on the road, and gives me a lot of confidence. I highly recommend Dako if you're looking for a great, stress-free car-buying experience.

I'm curious what these other 5 star reviews experienced because this was a toss up with a root canal for how I'd rather spend my time. The sales manager got me in the door with offering me a good discount on MSRP, but he conveniently left out the mandatory and unadvertised "Gerald Protection Package" that's an absolute rip off: $1000 for nitrogen, wheel locks (which they don't actually include?), door edge guards (which are shrink wrap), and VIN etching (with 1 year theft protection "worth" 5k if it gets stolen). It's a dealer markup that's disguised as a useless add-on. Another review mentions this dealership specifically does not do the "skeezy VIN etching" trick, so maybe this is the special treatment they give higher-in-demand vehicles. They kept trying to reason that "all dealers do this" (they don't), and "we're already selling this at a loss" (they're not). The only reason I completed the sale was because they increased the trade-in value and reduced the unwanted "Protection Plan" to 699. I'd already driven an hour from Chicago and spent an hour and a half in the dealership already. No where on the website, window sticker, or in my communication on the phone did they mention this mandatory markup. They were very clear that it was my fault for not knowing about it though. Then when you get to financing it's another hour of extended warranty/prepaid maintenance sales pitches that just makes you want to run out screaming. It was a 4 hour process, and I walked into the dealership with the car already picked out. Oof. Edit: 2/1: Not even a day in and the door edge protectors are peeling off. How are these going to protect doors when they can't even protect themselves?! Edit 2/3: It keeps getting worse: the "VIN etching" they charged me for doesn't actually exist, no windows are etched. Probably worst of all now is what I found under the drivers seat: an unpackaged loose razor blade that I'm unbelievably lucky I found before my 3 year old did.

Instead of standing behind their work, I was told I'd have to pay $250 just for diagnostics, and that it would be three weeks before they could even inspect it. They refused to put it on a lift or do a basic check. I took the truck to Naperville Ram, and within minutes they identified the issue: River Front did not install the proper OEM clamps during the original repair. This was a basic installation mistake. River Front refused responsibility and tried to charge me again to fix their own error. If you care about quality work or accountability, take your vehicle elsewhere.
