Takeout lunch from Honolulu, Hawaii... I guess I've never been here before because I thought that Teruya's Andagi just sells andagi (Okinawan donut). However, when I saw Jackie K.'s photos and reviews, I learned that bentos are available, too! The next obstacle for me was the parking. I dislike metered street parking. I had to just figure it out. Another aspect to consider was the hours of operation. Teruya's Andagi is closed on Sundays and Mondays. The remaining five days of the week are open from 10am to 2pm. When I approached the cozy shop, there was a line out the door! That's because customers don't go inside. Everyone stays outside. The workers are inside and there's a table blocking the entrance. On the table are samples of bentos with prices clearly marked. Service was very friendly! I told the cheerful woman that this was my first visit. She explained that this company used to be at Shirokiya! Wow... that was quite a while ago... over 8 years?... at Ala Moana Center! I took 3 bentos to my mom's house and shared with my sister and niece. My sister said her office had ordered from Teruya's in the past! My niece enjoyed the Shrimp Tempura roll. I liked everything... the Veggie Bento was colorful and tasty! The Garlic Chicken Roll Bento and andagi in the Veggie Bento were delicious! The prices were so reasonable! I will return!

11/6/25-So happy to pick up my Instagram prize of a $25 gift certificate from Teruya's Andagi and an adorable bento bag from The Soft Arts! Thank you Teruya's Andagi and The Soft Arts! Of course I immediately redeemed my GC for Teruya's delicious bentos! I picked up the large garlic chicken bento, two hand rolls ( shrimp and garlic chicken) bento, two shrimp hand rolls and a few andagi and sweet potato mochis! I shared the yummy food with family! When I went to pick up the prize, they were busy filling orders. That's a good sign for any food establishment! The little kitchen was in full speed with fresh Andagi being made and so much more. Support local. Enjoy great tasting bentos here! Do not miss out on trying the sweet potato mochi and Andagi! Street metered parking available. Credit card and cash transactions. Clean kitchen and friendly environment.

We got some bentos for an event preordered from Teruya's. There was a great variety of options to choose from. I ordered the vegetarian and my husband got the garlic chicken roll bento. The vegetarian bento was delightful in taste and looks. My husband wasn't a fan of the chicken because it was a bit hard like it sat out for a while. I bet it tastes much better fresh but that's the thing with bentos.

I had some business at the Lunalilo Post Office, and thought I'd stop by Teruya's Andagi, which was along my way home. Having been there before, I knew that it was strictly a takeout place. Just inside the door, there's a counter with two display cases: one with various bento, and the other with Sweet Potato Mochi and Andagi. As I was looking at the menu and displays, I was greeted by the lady behind the counter. She seemed pleasant and helpful. I've had their andagi and sweet potato mochi before and knew they were good, but I don't recall having their bento. The menu items were reasonably priced. I decided to try Teruya's Oyako Don and their Veggie Bento. She informed me that the oyako don is made to order and would take a few minutes, which was fine with me. I chose the veggie bento as a lighter option, possibly for my wife. It had a variety of vegetable dishes in addition to the rice. She offered me a choice between one with bitter melon or seaweed and showed me what each one looked like. I decided on the one with bitter melon. When I got home, I ate the oyako don while it was still warm. It was a little on the sweet side, but still tasty and satisfying, with tender pieces of chicken. I'm saving the veggie bento for later, in case my wife comes home hungry. https://bsky.app/profile/raymondkaya.bsky.social/post/3lfiswytgwc2c

This cute little hole in the wall spot has several varieties of bentos to choose from, as well as andagi and sweet potato mochi. Included on the menu as well are donburi bowls and rolls. They also offer plain white rice and fried chicken for those that don't want the sozai (side dishes) We ordered several few chicken rolls (kind of like a chicken musubi) and andagi. The chicken was tasty and cooked well and the andagi was yummy. When you walk up to the door, there is a table which has the bento selections and sweet potato mochi and andagi. The employee at the order table was very nice. There were other employees working inside and out order came out quickly. I would definitely return to buy a bento or two. This place is great for a quick bite, lunch, or even just a snack for yourself or to share.

This little spot is SO good! Takeout only. I helped a friend pick up a very large order for a party (over 60 bentos) and they were each packed with care; an employee kindly helped cart it out to the car and moved them into the trunk, too! The order was freshly prepared and right on time for pick up. Not only was the service great, but the food was so delicious! I tried the large roll bento and the veggie bento. The roll bento came with a shrimp tempura hand roll, a fried chicken hand roll, a bit of sausage, two croquettes, and some veggies (eggplant and greenbeans). The veggie bento was massive and came with 9 different little items including andagi (fried dough, savory), lotus, eggplant, green beans, daikon/carrot, hijiki seaweed, rice, and squash. It was all so delicious.

My office picked up lunch from here one day, and I got the veggie bento. I loved the variety of vegetables and sides that were in here. It doesn't look like a lot of food, but it was pretty filling. All the ingredients were fresh and of high quality. I think it had eggplant, tofu patty, hijiki, kabocha, purple rice, nishime, green beans, andagi, and kimpira - I could be wrong because I don't know my Japanese food very well.

Oishii desu!! Great deal for ono bentos. Reminds me of Japan. Prices are very reasonable and they were so pleasant when greeting me. This will be my go to bento place from now on. Nom nom

Was driving by and heard about this little mom and pop shop that's on the same block as auntie pastos. They just have take out available where you can pick up a bento to go through their entrance. Basically the entire place is their prep kitchen. Got a few different bentos. Prices are very reasonable and the food is good. Parking can be a pain but if you're lucky you can get street parking right out front.

Even with a decent amount of seating, there is minimal space so they ask that you leave your strollers outside. When we called the first time saying our daughter was asleep they arranged everything in order to fit the stroller inside. The second visit, I had an even bigger stroller because it was a double stroller for my daughter and son. When I said my son was asleep they again, quickly tried to arrange space for the stroller until we realized he woke up. I truly appreciate them being so welcoming because I've come across many establishments that are not especially towards kids. As for the food, the first time the tonkatsu was a miss for me. I was comparing it to a popular spot on the island that books out months in advance that I tried just before my first visit here and it just seemed a lot more oily and not as tender. We were actually going to eat at the other business again but with two kids and walking non stop on our trip already, I was so happy we had an option closer to us. Both times, we were coming from Hilton Hawaiian Village. They have the cutest car bento boxes for the kids, and they let you choose the car color. My daughter loved the mini umbrella that came with her plate. My son was days before turning 1 year old so a lot of things ended up on the floor and even then, they were so kind about it. The best thing though for my husband and I AND my son, was the loco moco which we were told was limited and a new item for dinner since it was primarily only served as a lunch option? The flavor of the gravy alone was sooo good and rich. My son ended up eating my whole portion of rice and gravy with no crumbs left behind or on the floor lol. The other katsu items we ordered were nice and lightly coated and were not heavily oily at all. The only thing that I felt lacked was their curry especially in comparison to their gravy. I would definitely recommend coming here and I can't wait to come back. That was one of our favorite new dishes this trip and we come every year!

I got the pork loin with shrimp combo (the mixed portion instead of the large), and everything was perfectly crispy, flavorful, and satisfying without feeling too heavy. One of my favorite parts was grinding the sesame seeds myself in the little ceramic bowl with the wooden grinder, then mixing in the tonkatsu sauce. It made the whole meal feel interactive and intentional, and the sauce was SO good on the pork loin. I also ended up getting a refill of the cabbage because the sesame dressing they served with it was honestly addictive. I went around 8 PM to avoid the dinner rush and was pleasantly surprised I got a table pretty easily. Taking my time with the smaller mixed portion made the whole experience feel relaxed and enjoyable instead of rushed. Overall, really delicious food, great atmosphere, and one of my favorite meals I've had in Waikiki so far. Pictured are the before and after of my dish. Probably a better "go with friends place" than a date.

Getting a reservation is definitely the way to go, I've seen people wait in standby however seating is not guaranteed since they prioritize those who have a reservation. The service was amazing! They are constantly checking up on you to see if you need anything else. I like how they offer different kinds of miso soup. I personally had limitations due to my shellfish allergy, but it was amazing! The katsu we ordered was one of the biggest one that they offer.
