I've always wanted to try this place as my husband has been a few times. I will say I'm not a fan. Aside from it being a meat heavy menu (even traditional Chinese restaurants will have various veggie dishes) it's very heavy on the oil. For me personally it was a little inedible as the tofu felt soaked in oil. The dish I got was also very heavy with Chinese five spice. Which I generally like but it was all I could taste. We came here for a date night, ordered drinks and an app. They came out quickly. With no less then about 2 minutes later our dishes arrive. Which speedy service can be awesome but it felt like we weren't able to enjoy our drinks or even our appetizers first. Definitely rushed, i understand it's a weekend and you have to flip tables but we were there less than an hour. So we ended up leaving and finishing our date night else where. First time here and will return! The food was really good--surprised that the taste/flavors/texture spot on and so beautifully prepared. The waitress was efficient and worked diligently .. a bit rushed, and was able to see the chef in action--he was calm and mindful in his movements (felt his zen) while preparing/cooking--nice balance! It's been a while since I updated the review, and since my previous visits. I was a regular here for about 10 years, but the chefs had changed, and so did the recipes. Had I updated my review then, it would've been down to probably 2 stars because it no longer worked for me and was a stark contrast from my previously-glowing review. Significant waitstaff turnover left people who were novice/junior, the food itself didn't really have the same flavor profile as it did in the first decade, so I didn't really care to go back; they could've been (and were) better. A friend of mine and I decided to give it a shot again. Apparently some of the former chefs have come back so the recipes have *almost* returned to their previous state, which was a relief. I constantly ask for 5 stars but the net seems to only be about 3 or so. They can spice up the green beans but seem to fail with the chicken. Which is quite peculiar to me. The prices have certainly increased as well, and unfortunately the portions have shrunk. The place is loud, not a lot of sound dampening so I try to sit in the bar/lounge area; even still there just isn't enough treatment so it gets increasingly louder and louder and it's hard to hold a conversation with someone directly across from me. It won't be on my regular rotation as much as it used to be but the food has returned to a much better state since. Might consider just getting this to go in the future even though it's a bit of a drive from home. read more

Super disappointed. We left. 5pm- not busy. Our waitress brought our drinks and we were sitting there with the menus closed hoping she would notice that we were ready to order (she was walking by a couple times). Another waiter was regularly checking on his tables. People were sat next to us and she got their drink orders and dropped off their drinks and she came back to us a few minutes after to finally take our order. We hadn't been to Terracotta Red in years but our group of 5 made a reservation for a Thursday night and we were seated quickly by a nice hostess. We started with the coconut shrimp, spring rolls and dumplings and couldn't have been happier. Each dish was delicious and there was enough to split among five people. I ordered the broccoli and beef and the beef was so tender, it just melted in my mouth; plenty of fresh delicious broccoli and the sauce was fantastic as well. Haven't dined in there, but I've tried their coconut soup, sweet sour pork, and fried rice. They were all yummy however the fried rice was very very oily. It was appetizing but by the time we got to the bottom of the to go container there a lot of oil. Seeing how much oil was pooled=huge yuck. Coconut soup needs more spice. Sweet and sour pork was different because it was chunky hearty meat that was more on the tough side. read more

Service is amazing but food was okay...I need to try other dishes. We ARE in Everett so this is no where near traditional Chinese, I'd say a fancy Panda Express. I was craving the typical Asian salt and pepper fried chicken wings and the pictures of their wings looked good, so we decided to order a few other dishes as well. First thing I need to get off my chest is that their chicken wings do not taste anything like the typical salt and pepper wings, so I was majorly disappointed. The wings weren't necessarily bad, but definitely didn't satisfy my cravings. We also ordered calamari, which I do not recommend getting if you're taking out because they got super soggy and we lived only about 5 minutes away. If we dined in, I think the calamari would've tasted amazing; fresh and crispy. The broccoli beef wasn't bad, probably the best dish that we ordered. Nothing special but I'd get it again since it was a safe dish. I want to try some other dishes from the menu and since this is one of a few Chinese restaurants around here, I hope their other dishes are better. read more

This is another hidden gem up here in Everett. I had the hot and sour soup, it was absolutely amazing, served piping hot and fresh. The only drawback is dishes are served "family style" so huge portions...which isn't a bad thing, unless you alone on travel. First time here today. Went for lunch with a friend. Hostess and waitress were nice and friendly and cheeful. The food was really good. I had the sweet basil beef with vegetables. Flavorful and lots of vegetables, which I love. Friend had his favorite, tangerine beef. I had a bite and it was wonderful. Crispy and flavorful. Both come with a choice of soup or salad and rice (white or brown). We had the salad and the miso-ginger vinaigrette is so good and light on the mixed greens and it's topped with fried yam chips. I'll be coming back as there were so many other items on the lunch menu that looked good as did the dinner menu and cocktail list. The only disappointment was Indonesion fritters - raw and doughy on first delivery, then once perfectly cooked, not all that interesting. Ok, this previous "Gem" has lost a few stars. I should have guessed by the lackluster turnout for a Tuesday night. I get that COVID was hard on restaurants. But if you are going to serve "Panda Express" at these prices, you should be ashamed. Very ashamed. The food was not horrible, well, except for my former favorite "Drunken Chicken" which was inedible. We also had Kalbi Short Ribs, Miso Tamarind Brussels Salad, Garlic Noodles and Emerald Fire Noodles. Passable, but all... a bit lackluster. Whoever the "Chef" was who was working yesterday, should be fired for passing dishes such as we received. The best thing we ate was the $5 garlic noodles. The $12 pear martini was amazing. The food here is fantastic and the restaurant itself is gorgeous. My girlfriend and I went here and we were smitten as soon as we walked through the front door. Their aesthetic is solid and their decor is equally unique as it is beautiful. The Indonesian corn fritters and the Chinese donuts were my favorite part of our meal. The food is so flavorful! We also got tea, which was served in pots and was kept hot throughout our whole meal. I thought we'd each be served a glass and we weren't able to finish both pots between us. We hosted a birthday party for 27 people at Terracotta Red. It was great! First of all, we had to reschedule at the last minute due to an unforeseen situation. Carrie was totally understanding and worked with us to accommodate our date change. When we finally did have the party, we couldn't have been more pleased. Carrie worked with us on the menu, and was very responsive to my requests and questions. Service was excellent. Fast attention to our drink orders, and very pleasant. Food was very good. We especially liked the potstickers, which were flavorful, packed with perfectly seasoned meat, and nicely grilled. The other food highlight was the spicy green beans. Tender crisp and great spicy sauce. The hot sauce they serve on the side is really good. Perfect balance of heat and flavor. Terracotta Red isn't bad but it's not the best from my experiences. The dishes we've gotten have been pretty hit and miss. The Walnut Prawns are absolutely amazing and my favorite! My husband likes the Mongolian Beef but we literally got half of the portion we got the last time we visited. The $20 price tag is outrageous for that small of a portion. The Drunken Chicken was so insanely dry but the sauce was good. The Garlic Noodles were ok but they weren't as garlicky as I was hoping. We've also gotten the Emerald Fire Noodles and Potstickers. The Potstickers were tasty and while the noodles were pretty good and a huge portion, I was hoping they'd be spicier considering fire is in the name. While they're definitely one of the better options for Chinese in Everett, I hope they work on consistency with portion size. I'll 100% go back for the Walnut Prawns :) read more
