Doesn't listen to what you tell them. Wants to fit you into their way of doing things rather than listening and responding to your individual needs. I called the 800 number. They told me they would send somebody out to do an estimate. I told them that was not satisfactory. I had to drive 90 minutes to get down to the house and that I needed one and done, not give me an estimate and then meet a second time to solve the problem. They told me that they would have the local office call me between 5 and 7PM that night to address my needs. That never happened. The next morning I received a phone call and text from a tech telling me they were on their way to the property and would meet me there in 30 minutes. I messaged back and told them, No. I then told them what I had already told the 800 number. I described the situation and what I needed. Squirrels had gotten into the roof of the sunroom addition. I needed the squirrels removed and however they had gained access blocked so they could not re-enter. The tech immediately started telling me how they can't have anything to do with going up on a roof. They spent more time telling me what they couldn't do then telling me how they could help. This will be my 4th and final review for the service I received in Annapolis. I originally wrote about the 15,000 "exclusion" service I paid for last June. As noted in my previous emails, the team was supposed to clear out and seal my attic and the same with my crawl space. After the work was done and I reviewed both locations, I had some concerns but when I called my salesperson (Josh) and the customer service team, I received no response. At all. After months of posting poor Yelp reviews and a couple of half-hearted attempts to reach me but never calling me back when I returned the call, I finally received a call back. I think it was shortly after my third bad review, where I noted the report provided to me by Orkin (basically stating that the Terminix exclusion job was poorly done) that a Terminix Operations Manager named Darien finally called me to set up an appointment to review the work that had been done nearly a year ago. Turns out, the crew that performed the service last year did not replace all of the old insulation (which means any scent trail was still there) nor did they lift up any floorboards, which would've detected evidence of activity. Darien sent a crew out shortly thereafter to redo the entire job. My family said they heard the team complaining about the poor job done by the previous Terminix crew. The crew completed the job (I assume) on the second day. When I called Darien, who had been extremely pleasant, to see if the work was complete and for a report out, I received no response. Despite his voice mail stating that calls are returned in 48 hours, it has been more than two weeks of me calling and texting. I just don't understand this level of service. It's bad enough that a company with as much money as Terminix would make very little effort to do the job the customer paid for but to then ghost customers is insane. Darien was nothing but smiles when he came to the house (just like Josh the salesman). All he had to do was return my phone call and say, "Everything is complete. Here is what was done..." and then send me a written report of that work. Better yet, don't wait for me to track you down. Reach out to the customer immediately. Thank them for their business and then provide the information. I am thankful that Terminix did finally come out and do the job I paid for a year ago. But I am extremely disturbed at how callous this company is with their customer's money and with their own reputation. The truth is, Terminix only responded after I left multiple complaints on Yelp. This is my last Yelp complaint because I actually ran into someone in corporate who asked me to escalate my concerns to several people he named, which I will do today. If you live near Annapolis, MD, avoid purchasing Terminix's Exclusion service. Not sure if they're conning their customers or if they're just poorly run. Either way, I'm out of $15K and I'm still seeing rodents. read more

Terrible service, rushed appointments (One guy literally said "I'm trying to hurry out of here so I can go get in my pool"), and they have 0 rapport with their customers. We've had a problem with mice for the last 4 months and the techs did put bait boxes but i had to learn from my new company, Pest Czar, that the boxes were over packed and set incorrectly. After multiple complaints, we were given a number to "corporate" and would never hear back after our first call with them. The CS rep could never get in contact with a manager either. The technicians are full of it and do not do their jobs to satisfaction at all. They never asked any probing questions or took any extra steps at all. When they give a time frame for appointments, expect them to come an hour after the frame because they were never on time. Awful company. PLEASE LOOK INTO Pest Czar! If I could give no stars I would. I made an inspection appointment for birds in my kitchen exhaust. Appointment confirm via email sent to me called to verify appointment once they did not show in allotted timeframe. I was kindly told that an appointment for an inspection isn't a guarantee they will show. Since the customer service rep couldn't reach their tech. she couldn't tell me if he would be coming or not. Unbelievably poor poor poor service. We used them for one year; which is four service appointments. For two of them the service agent did not come out but we were charged. Twice we rescheduled our appointments but they came out on the wrong day. We moved and canceled service in DEC but apparently they weren't having it and came out in JAN and sprayed and charged us. So we called to get the refund and cancel again TODAY we get a call informing us we have a scheduled service for next Monday! I found what appeared to be rat holes under my porch and shed, ut there were no other signs of rats. I ad mice in th shed and had been using bait boxes. hey sent out a guy who was told that it was termite problem! He was an estimator and said I did not have rats because there was no rat feces and left. Waste of time. I hired someone else who said I definitely have rat holes. read more

Finally after badgering the landlord to get the house treated for mice and roaches that were an existing issue when I moved in they chose Terminex. 3 months of "unlimited visits" which I exhausted as much as I could I still have roaches. We purchased our property last year and it came with a Terminix pest control service (and evidence of a mice infestation as well), which we opted to continue based on the previous owner's good opinion. So far Terminix seems to be fine for coming out to apply poison and set traps. However, one of the reps suggested that we consider the Wildlife & Pest Exclusion and Control service. The salesman/inspector came out and looked over the house, although he did not enter the attic. He then proceeded to sell me on this terrific exclusion service, where they would "examine your home thoroughly, finding every vulnerability and entry point from roof to crawlspace..... create a detailed plan to secure it.... our specially trained team will execute the plan, patching, sealing, and securing your exterior from foundation to chimney, including roof areas that are difficult to reach." I wanted the product, and paid up front for it. (Unfortunately, I didn't get that product.) My mistake. They sent a guy out the following week to install autovents in the crawl space, for an extra charge. Although he was two hours late, that service was acceptable. The following week, he was to come and do the rest of the exclusion service, i.e. roof and all. He came with an assistant and a ladder, but they didn't get on the roof because they said it was too steep. Later, when we had cold air swooshing down the chimney, we called a chimney company, and they did some sealing and caulking for us. We inquired about the gaps at the bottoms of the garage door seals. The Terminix tech told us we had enough poison to cover the property for 5 years, so it was not necessary. He did straighten the cover on one of the crawl space doors outside, and put a 2" by 2" block of wood to block a small tunnel. About a week later we saw that an animal had dug around the other side of the piece of wood. The other work that this tech did was to spray an ugly orange foam in some gaps around various holes and doorways. He used half a can of spray foam and the entire visit took them about 35 minutes. This is the sum total of work that has been done on this contract. We were disappointed. Later, when we discovered 3 more tunnels under the wraparound deck, and saw a number of small groundhogs at the edge of the woods, we did some research. Apparently we had a groundhog invasion. When I called the Supervisor, Tom Criscuoli, he told me "Ma'am, we're not going to come out and remove an animal from your yard". That was not my expectation. I called the Service Manager and requested service. She was able to schedule the same tech that had come out before, Brad R, and said he would bring a one-way trap, but the soonest he could come was a week later. She said they had recently been trained to deal with groundhogs. This indicated to me that the company was not really experienced in dealing with groundhogs. We researched groundhogs and discovered that they can do a great deal of damage to foundations and geothermal HVAC systems, which we have. This was alarming. We realized that this Terminix branch did not have the intention or even the capability of taking our problem seriously. This was consistent with the management's evasiveness when I first mentioned that I had expected something much more comprehensive for a Wildlife Exclusion Service. Very disappointing. Technician called us a half hour early to see if he could arrive early. He arrived on-time and thoroughly explained what he was going to do. He was quick and efficient in performing his job, and at the end, explained what we could do to prevent outside pests from entering our home. He asked if we had any further issues, and when told of a small gnat problem we were having, sprayed our drains which has taken care of the issue. VERY pleased with his service read more

Even though they had no evidence of treatment I couldn't get a refund - they just kept passing me off or not calling at all. I should have read the reviews about this Terminix location. Had an appointment this past Thursday between 3 and 5 and inspector Treyson did not show nor did he call to advise why he wasn't here. Called office. Tyeshia couldn't get him nor his supervisor on the phone. Supervisor Mark finally called me back and said inspector James would be out next day. Of course he came at end of appointment window but was very professional. Said he'd have us on schedule for today, Saturday, between 12 and 2. At 2:15 I called James to find out what was going on. No answer so I left message. Called supervisor Mark. No answer and no recorder/voice mail. Called Hanover office and Tyeisha says she doesn't show us on schedule. I'm livid now. While on phone with office, James calls back and says technician Chris is really backed up today and that he would contact him and find out what time he can get here. Called Hanover, MD office back and ended up in Phoenix, AZ with Mia. Mia confirms we did show on schedule for 12-2, so what was Tyeisha looking at? On hold with Mia while she tries to contact technician. A couple minutes later I see Terminix truck coming up the road. An hour late!! Haha. Just got an automated survey call from Terminix. Too bad they don't ask the right questions in the survey. Do NOT use the Hanover Maryland office. Mia said supervisor would call me and it's now 3:24 pm with no call. I'll just tell him to read my review when he does call. I suggest you contact Orkin. Got an estimate from them first but they were substantially higher. Get your Terminix estimate first and then tell Orkin you have a quote but don't tell them the amount--they'll come in lower than they were going to quote you. That's what I did with Terminix. Should have called Orkin back and had them match the price. read more

I really wish I could give this company 0 (zero) stars! Do not use this company unless you like being lied to & paying for half-a$$ work. I chose Terminix because we encountered a mouse in our home a year ago (for the first time ever) & after calling several other pest control companies, Terminix was able to come to my home the fastest. I now wish I had paid attention to the online reviews & waited the additional day. The CSR was very pleasant & seemed genuinely caring as to our unwanted "houseguest" & I was very enthusiastic when I was told of all the glorious ways Terminix was going to help my home become & remain pest free. The representative informed me that the tech would 1) do a complete evaluation of our home, including looking into the walls to identify any current or potential issues, 2) remove any cobwebs &/or any droppings, 3) use only pet-safe products & would even 4) provide me with his company issued cell phone number as a way to contact them directly because "Terminix techs like to have that kind of relationship with their clients." I was sold. On the day of my initial treatment, June 2013, the tech arrived on time, despite the fact that he was obviously intoxicated. I explained our issue & showed him where we had found droppings. He threw a few bait boxes around on each level, glue traps (against my request) under the stove, a rat bait box outside (we live in the city), suggested we get some steel wool and started packing up to leave! I asked him about the other things I had been promised and he acted like he had no idea what I was speaking of. When I mentioned the cobweb/ dropping removal he scoffed & said he doesn't remove his own cobwebs. Going inside the walls - I was flat out lied to. I did persuade him to break open his roach & ant powder and he sprayed here and there. I assume it's pet safe once dry since my animals didn't get sick. When asked for his cell # as I was told I would be, he stammered for a moment, then said he had not been given one yet. Since that initial visit, I've had my service dates changed without my authorization & despite my calling/ going online to reschedule to the date/ time I had previously requested, the technician came to my home on the date that was rescheduled by Terminix, not myself or my husband. One of those service dates was done while we were out of town for the holidays. I had requested the new service date online & when a rep called to remind me of my service (the original date) she updated the computer to reflect the new date I had requested online. Someone still showed on the original date while we were away. No apologies from Terminix... Just a demand for money. The mouse reappeared in Feb 2014 so I called for a follow up. New tech came out, never introduced himself. I showed him where we had seen the mouse going into the side of the dishwasher, etc. He was so unprepared that HE DID NOT EVEN HAVE A FLASHLIGHT!!! He did check our existing bait boxes (which were all full), told me that he would not move the dishwasher, offered no additional traps, advice, etc & left. I ended up hiring a contractor ($100) to come out to move my dishwasher & plug the hole. When I looked at the service ticket online I noticed it says 1 unit of Cy-Kick aerosol was used but NO PRODUCTS WERE USED DURING HIS VISIT! Call made to Terminix requesting supervisor call me. No call received. I received an email during the 1st week of June 2014 advising me of my upcoming service date & time. I was unable to reschedule it on the website (it was a few days before the appt) so I called & requested my service only be done by a specific tech & after a certain day. I was told 1st, the tech is no longer employed there (lie #1) & 2nd, a mgr from my location would call me to schedule my request (lie #2). I received no call. June 11th I received an email advising me that my service had been rescheduled. I called & confirmed that even though no one called me back as promised, the requested tech was set to come out. I briefly explained some of my ongoing issues & how unsatisfied with regarding my relationship with Terminix I was becoming & the rep tried to reach a supervisor via cell phone to hopefully remedy some of my dissatisfaction with a 3-way call. (Apparently there is no longer a way to call the local office.) After holding for several minutes I was told that the supervisor was unable to speak with me but was given my number which I confirmed & that he will call me "soon." I have yet to hear from him. I guess he will return this message when he gets around to returning my messages left in March after "Mr. Prepared & Eager to Work" stopped by. read more

My biggest recommendation: schedule Saturday service; and technicians are very variable: ask for a refund at the first sign your technician might be flaky. Two stars for awful service but willingness to refund my money. I made 4 appointments with Terminix: the first two were for the initial treatment and the latter two for followup. The first day, 12-5 pm time slot, the technician came, "knocked" (but didn't ring the doorbell), left a message on the door and left. I was home and didn't hear anything -- when I called the phone line, the customer service rep was nice, and when she got in touch with the manager & technician they promised he had knocked really hard. I rescheduled: The second appointment was for a Saturday: Newton was prompt, professional, and did a great job. He explained that he does a lot of the region on weekends (instead of the usual tech). I saw a few bugs still around and so made a followup appointment (for a Thursday, the usual tech) a few weeks later. When I called the morning of to verify the appointment, it had been moved to Friday without informing me! The customer service rep was very helpful and moved it back to Thursday (at 5). Late that afternoon, the technician called me to apologize, he had a meeting and wouldn't be making the appointment, which shouldn't have been able to be scheduled anyway. At this point, I was willing to give the company and the tech the benefit of the doubt, the excuses were plausible. I rescheduled the followup for the next week, Thursday 5-7pm. Confirmed the appointment the morning of. No show. No note, and no excuse. I called at 630, 645, 650, and after 7 to see if the appointment was still on (it was), if the technician could be reached (he couldn't). At 6.50 they tried to call the service manager (not available). The customer service reps were doing a great job, very polite, and making a valiant effort. One or two was clearly somewhat dismayed at the no-show and inability to reach anyone at the office. At 7:10 I decided he wasn't going to show. The rep told me messages had been left for the service manager, and I should hear from him in 24hrs (didn't happen). I called today (2 business days, 4 calendar days) later. The manager was polite, apologetic, offered a discount, and was willing to refund my money when asked (+1 star). He was out of town, hence the lack of phone call - the message got lost apparently. All in all, great to work with on the phone, decent manager, great Saturday technician, not so great regular technician in my area. read more

So originally we thought we had more than one mice turns out it was only 2 around but we had called terminex, what they ended up doing was setting up traps, yes thats it traps, we could have just bought them and done ourselves (the snap ones) said they would "locate" where they were possibly coming in, couldn't find of course. Ok then I called again a few months later because of an ant problem. All they did was spray some chemical they did not inspect to see if there was infestation or anything just sprayed. with a few home remedies you can fix that problem. Not much is covered with the service of $239 initial charge for 3 months and then $139 quarterly. Know that when you call to cancel it is immediately cancel. We basically gave them $139 as a cancelling fee because you still have to pay for the next quarter but you will not get serviced. Horrible company. read more

I have had the opportunity to see the company from stem to stern. Their "Technicians" are unprofessional and under trained. When they come out to treat.....its basically when they feel like it and will probably be late. The termite technicians do not care, And their "Inspections" is to walk around and check wooden stakes. 99% of the time the Tech is just doing a "Lap" around the house and going back to their truck and telling the company you're "Termite Free". If you discover damages after Treatment, The Warranties are always at the discretion of the Service Manager, So if they claim that Termite damage is "Older or Previous Damage" which there is really no way to test new vs old damage then they can deny any major claims they want to. The Attic insulation jobs are not even close to being done by INDUSTRY Standards. They have kids in the attic doing whatever they want without a supervisor. So if your lucky you'll only get half what you're paying for and not a foot through the ceiling! Their crawlspace mold/Fungus and encapsulation jobs are Flat Out Criminal! Completely Horrible, My Customers were calling me daily how they got scammed after they had their family or another contractor look at their work after completion. One or two customers calling with complaints is one thing, but 75% of your customers calling you and telling you they got ripped off starts not to be coincidence. Your Neighbors Got Burned, So don't let it happen to you. Best Advice I can give, price is not everything & Get other opinions. read more

I just received my annual renewal notice and I am done with Terminix. When I purchased the home, I inherited the Terminix termite protection plan (Liquid Defend System) contract and decided to stick with them (for 7 years now. Each year the annual renewal would increase. First it was $10-15 per year, then $25-40, but the latest one jumped up almost $50. I contacted them to inquire about the 22% price hike and if they could honor the prior year amount, but I was told their costs have increased so they cannot lower the renewal. This is a basic coverage plan that includes an annual inspection of orange stakes around the exterior of the house and scanning a couple of barcodes in the house, assuming they scheduled an appointment when I was home. Frequently, they schedule someone to come out and never let me know so person just shows up, inspects the stakes outside, and leaves a note on the door to call back if I want to make a new appointment for them to come back and check the interior. I understand periodic price increases, but this is a basic insurance plan. There is an annual inspection of the premises, but there are no treatments unless they find evidence of termites (which they fortunately have never found here). Bottom line, don't sign up with them unless you are willing to pay $30-50 more each year to renew your contract. I will be calling other companies this week to get estimates to switch. read more

He explained what he was doing and why, every step of the way. I had a lot of questions and he was more than happy to educate me. Not impressed at all with the service from Terminx. First, the person who does the inspection after the inspection is done and you sign the contract can no longer be contacted. Second, when the person comes to service the home, in our case needed rodent traps very few are put down. After being told there was an infestation after three months only one mouse caught in the trap. It seems that few traps were even placed. Finally you are stuck in a contract that actually results in very little service and they are quick to want to offer you more contracts. Stay away from Terminx, it is a true rip off. Save yourself some money go to Home Depot or Lowe's buy a bunch of traps and place them yourself inside and out. At least then you will know where they are and no if you actually are accomplishing anything. If you don't want to waste your money don't be suckered into an awful contract with this company. The service for your money is pitiful! Don't do it. read more

The first time, I was not home and he did not leave a slip. I made them come again. The second time, today in fact, the technician claimed to be at my house AT THE SAME TIME I was on the phone with terminex customer service trying to figure out if they were coming or not. They said there were here, rang the bell several times and left a slip. NOT!! All lies.... Don't bother calling customer service to complain... the most they can do is contact the branch and request a follow-up call to you in 1 to 2 business days. I, too, have a wasp infestation inside the house. I called Terminix yesterday (through the toll free number) and was happy to get an appointment for this afternoon at 3:00. When the technician was not here by 3:30, I called back. The CSR from yesterday did not inform me of a 2 hour window. I waited until a little after 6:00 to report the technician had not shown up or called. I was told by the CSR that the appointment had been given to another technician and the previous technician might not have "refreshed his system", therefore he might not have known he had an appointment. (Didn't make sense to me) What about a phone call??? The CSR offered to reschedule, but I declined. I will be calling another company. Hopefully, we won't get stung in the meantime. read more

I had a year long contract an they only visited my house twice ( one of those times was because I called them ). They "claim they visited a second time but could not provide me with the what services were performed. I had a re-infestation only to have them send another sales person instead of reading the initial contract. They have yet to return my phone call after several email and calls. Scheduled for the inspection on Monday between 8 am and Noon, no shows. Rescheduled same day at 1 pm and 5 pm, no shows again. Rescheduled Tuesday 3 pm to 5 pm. Finally they showed up. Scheduled Friday 8 am to 10 am for the treatment. We prepared the place, packed up everything. Received the call at 9:15 am saying they want to reschedule for Monday afternoon because the only person who can do the treatment had his son to the ER last night and is not available. I learned that the person who supposed to come is the manager. They do not have someone to replace and they can't have another Terminix place to send because each terminix place is separated from another. Also there is no accountability and you have no one to complain, the headquarter doesn't have the complaint dept... in other words, you are stuck with unreliable one who can't keep its commitment. Why didn't he call us last night or at 8 am... but no... and why can't he do the Saturday... well, no.... In the end, I cancelled the contract and requested the refund. I called PestNow and explained the situation I am in, they can come today and do the treatment.... With this experience, I will never to use Terminix ever because of lack of accountability all the way from the local to the headquarter. read more

I have a wasp infestation that has broken through INSIDE THE HOUSE. Called Terminix Wed morning, they said they'd be out Thurs afternoon. Appt window comes and goes: no show, no call. I call them and they say, oh we're overbooked and moved your appt to next Tuesday. I press them, because this is unacceptable THERE ARE WASPS INSIDE MY HOUSE. They say ok, service branch should be able to get you in Friday or Saturday, someone will call you before 6pm with the time. No one calls. I call them (and wait 10 minutes for a representative): nope, Tuesday is the best they can do. I understand they are busy, but 1) scheduling is not that difficult, 2) um, how about emergencies?, and 3) no call no show? Really? They could have told me that 2 days ago, instead of stringing me along. read more

I like the fact that they explain the procedure for whatever services you need and give you options. For the most part they have called when they are on the way and on time. However, yesterday I had two separate technicians coming to perform different aspects of the same service. One called and was on time. They were both scheduled for the 10-12 time slot. The second called around 11:30 and said he'd be 1/2 hour late. He didn't show up till 1pm! That means he was between 1-3 hours late. He also didn't call the day before but the other tech did. When I called at 12:30 to find out where he was they said he'd be there in 1/2 an hour. He should have called back and at the fist sign he was going to be significantly late and offered to reschedule and/or tell me the actual time he could be there by. I also asked for a credit for his lateness. The offered me $25 which I accepted but I felt they should have offered before I requested it. Just know you can ask for this in the future, I also asked that it be applied to the work they were doing yesterday, not a future time, because you never know when you'd use it or you might forget. Otherwise, they did a great job, they explained it all and were very clean or the job site and personally. They were all well-spoken and knowledgeable about their particular jobs. read more

We have been long time Terminix customers for our home and our rental properties. We depend on our competent service technician to take care of our needs and have never been disappointed. He is always here when promised, keeps us updated on what he is doing and always checks to ask if we need any other services while he is at our home. We especially like that Terminix always sends the same service technician to us and we trust him in our home. When we contact customer service for additional services, outside our regular visits, Terminix sends our technician out promptly. Services were never performed as described by the Sales Representative when I signed up. I left explicit instructions with the "call center" on how my house was to be treated. Visit after Visit, the instructions were not followed (conveniently I was not there) although that doesn't stop the bill from showing up. Additionally, I asked to speak with the rep (or manager) that was responsible for my account and was told it was against company policy to give out contact information for the local branch.
