I love Tender Greens, and this location is solid! I usually get the Tuna Nicoise Salad, Chicken Cobb Salad or Steak Plate. Their food is always fresh and tasty. The veggies are crispy. The green beans are never overcooked, which is always a good sign that they know how to cook. It's very spacious inside, and there is plenty of outdoor seating too. I've never been to Tender Greens, and since I love a good salad, I figured from their name that they had more than a handful of salads. Not the case. I guess I'm crazy. The workers were friendly and on the ball. There were just too few of them. I asked for a few basic considerations, like for my crumb covered table to be wiped down and a glass of water without ice. That never happened. My sandwich was tasty, but didn't have any sides, not even a pickle spear. And when I went to get coffee after finishing my meal -- they don't even sell coffee there! The main reason I will never purchase there again is because they don't take cash payments. I don't patronize establishments that don't take cash. Sadly, Tender Greens has that "corporate food" air. Came in quickly a few months ago before picking my mom up from the airport. I had some sort of harvest chicken salad. It surprised me because it was a bit of a warm salad; not just the chicken was warm, there was also grilled squash and zucchini. It also contained goat cheese. The vinaigrette served with the salad was light but delicious. The salads come with a piece of bread, which I appreciated. The girl at the front was helpful at recommending something to me. Although it was later in the evening, past typical dinner hours, there were quite a few people in there. Still, service was pretty quick. My hubby got a chicken soup. I tasted it, it was rather bland , kind of tasted like a campbells soup from a can. True this may be a healthy version of such dishes but it needs to be tasty too. I came here at noon on a Friday and it was practically empty. That should have been my first red flag. I normally love Tender Greens but this location was terrible. I ordered a fried chicken plate with mashed potatoes and a salad and a mint lemonade. It took forever for my food to come out despite no one else being there. The lemonade tasted like cleaning chemicals. The chicken was barely fried and it was SOUR. The mashed potatoes were cold. The garlic bread was cold and soggy. I'm so glad to have the opportunity to update my review from 2018. The negatives I mentioned then have been completely reversed!! First off, I still love the food, have been here several times over the past few months and if anything, the food is even better. Customer service is 6-Stars and I especially want to call out Jasmine who is the sweetest person while taking your order right on thru checking on your meal. Her infectious smile and positive attitude are the kind of thing that can brighten your day, make you smile and uplifts the dining experience. The restaurant, including the restroom, is spotless and has plenty of seating. The shared parking lot is medium sized and can get busy but there is a parking structure next door. The food always comes out hot, fresh and quick, something that can be key during a busy lunch hour. Bottom line: Consistently great food & customer service! read more

We had also come during our lunch break, but were able to get a table for 2 in their outside area. I got the salmon salad and my fiancé the fried chicken plate with veggies and mashed potatoes. I loved my salad. The salmon was good, decent size, and the flavors were on point. It has a ginger dressing and some pickled veggies, yum! The fried chicken plate was also tasty! I come to Tender Greens almost every day for lunch since I work nearby, and I genuinely enjoy it every time. The food is consistently great, and the customer service is always friendly and welcoming--it's a place I actually look forward to visiting during my workday. That said, there's one ongoing issue that really needs attention: the air conditioning. Even when it's cool outside, if the AC isn't working properly inside, the restaurant feels uncomfortably hot--like an oven. It not only affects customers trying to enjoy their meal, but you can clearly see the employees sweating and struggling while working, which is tough to watch. Everything else about this location is solid, but fixing the air conditioning should be a priority. It would make a huge difference for both customers and the hardworking staff. read more

food was cold. not a great experience. when I went inside to complain about the food being cold, especially chicken being cold is not great, the manager at the front counter seemed un empathetic and ask what do you want a refund? I told him the refund was not the solution. Apologizing and being empathetic is what I was looking for or even course to correct the mistake. I had to ask for a box and he totally disregarded me as I went to collect my items from the table, I came back to the counter and asked someone for a box, which happened to be the store manager, Marcus. I told him that the food came out cold. He did not seem to care as he disregarded me and started speaking with a Uber Driver pick up this is why places are going out of business. Lack of care for their customers and I understand myself being a manager things go wrong, but it's the way you solve them that really matters. read more

I am so disappointed. I have a friend I was eating lunch with and has dietary restrictions (high cholesterol) so red meat is not a safe option to eat. However, we ordered salmon and a side of baby greens but was given steak and spring mix! She was unable to eat her entree and wasted $18. The facility was so busy and we were not greeted by the staff and it was lunch rush hour, but that still is no excuse for a completely wrong order especially for someone with dietary restrictions. I don't know why I keep coming back here. Possibly because I think the food or service is going to improve? I placed my in-app order at 12:34pm, with a pickup time of 12:58pm thinking that would give me enough time to pick up my food and race back to the office for a conference call. No such luck. I asked 3 servers to check on my order during my 10 minute wait (10 minutes past the promised 12:58 pickup time) then one of them finally discovered my Thai steak bowl sitting on the end of the counter. Food was being bagged and shoved down the counter without names being called. Of course it was cold by the time I received my order, and too late to do anything about it. I also ordered "paper supplies". The fork & knife were in the bag with NO napkins. I eat here quite often and have tried various dishes, which are overall pretty tasty and healthy compared to regular restaurant meals. I just had dinner and was surprised to see a seasonal plate of Grilled Seabass, which was absolutely delicious! My goodness! The seabass was cooked perfectly and fresh, the panzanella was lemony goodness, the olive oil labneh accompanied the plate surprisingly well and the (roasted I think) mushrooms, fingerling potatoes and turnips rounded out the dish nicely. The grilled seasbass plate is the best menu item I have eaten at Tender Greens by far! I sincerely hope it becomes a permanent fixture on the menu. I had to ask the manager how long the plate was expected to be on the menu, so I could come back several times before it (hopefully never) disappears. I feel sad just thinking about it. I almost always order the mint lemonade, which is very good and not very sweet, which I appreciate, but the hibiscus tea is also good. The manager Jason, is a gem. So friendly, attentive, helpful to answer questions and address concerns. He always provides excellent customer service and with a smile on his face the entire time! If only all employees were this great, what a difference our dining experiences would be elsewhere. The man deserves a raise. Seriously. The restaurant has spacious seating inside with great lighting so you can see your dinner companions (and food) and it has a nice outdoor patio for those sunny CA days. Overall a great option for those looking for healthier fare that is still tasty. Come here and absolutely try that Grilled Seabass! Most of Tender Greens locations are alike. Some are better than others. I particularly like the way the dishes are prepared at the Marina Del Rey location for example. One of their senior chefs it's just amazing. I can't say the same about this El Segundo branch unfortunately but it's decent. Definitely good food. One of the top reasons to visit this location is their patio though. Especially with dogs, this is the place to be. Culver City, for example and most other West LA Tender green location patios are almost non-existent or placed on sidewalks. Marina del Rey is super nice but quite dirty and being on the second floor , it's almost always windy. Tasty food, comfortable setting, good looking patio, a ton of heaters outside. What else do you need to enjoy a nice meal outside? Anyway, I am a fan! read more

My coworkers and I stopped by Tender Greens for a lunch after a work meeting in our office down the street. While I've been to Tender Greens before but this was my first visit to this location. I don't eat at Tender Green often but I generally have a feeling for what they serve, or so I thought. At the other Tender Greens I've been to, you are actually able to see food being prepared behind glass panels while ordering. At this location, you couldn't see much as it seems the main kitchen was around the corner or behind a wall. I'm not sure if this is more normal now but it wasn't what I was expecting to see... but regardless I order my food expecting it to taste as good as other locations I've been to. Coincidentally, all 3 of us each ordered salads and different salads. I got the Tuna Nicoise and my coworkers got the Harvest Chicken and the Grilled Chicken Cobb. The tuna on my salad was horribly foreign-looking to me. While the outside was cooked, it had a plastic like texture while the inside had a chewy texture that felt wrong. Normally I expect raw fish to be somewhat soft and forgiving but not chewy. The rest of the salad was ok though some bits of potato also tasted undercooked/crunchy. My coworker with the Harvest Chicken said his food tasted ok but the one with the Cobb had huge chunks of rock hard meat (which we assumed was bacon) one could chip a tooth on. Overall, none of us were blown away by flavors and/or freshness--which were things I had associated with Tender Greens until this visit. Service wise, the staff was friendly although also kind of pushy. When we arrived, it was a bit before the lunch rush and there was no one behind us at the time; however the staff seemed annoyed we didn't immediately and quickly place our orders (even though we asked for a minute to browse the menu). While I prefer to sit inside, my coworkers insisted we sit outside. The patio is actually very nice except its pergola-like covering did little to block the blinding sun. Last, as we walked over from our office for lunch, we were able to avoid parking which, in this plaza, may be extremely hit or miss and can be very chaotic at times. I sometimes will pick different restaurants just to avoid parking in this plaza. So in terms of service and settings, it's a nice location but the food quality was just so-so and I expect more from Tender Greens. read more

Oh well not a big deal, but still a little annoying because I had to hunt down replacement utensils. I ordered the chicken which came with sushi rice and pickled vegetables on top of some sort of salad. The sauce for the chicken was smokey, a little spicy and really good. I also got a cup of the chicken soup. I have to say, I was impressed that the food travelled so well and was still hot and tasty.
