The staff was courteous. The restaurant itself was clean and spacious with different areas to dine like the booths, a bar and a patio. Unfortunately that is where the "good" ends in my review. The main reason to go to a restaurant is to eat and the food was disappointing. From best to worst: The onion rings were average. As for the burger it was subpar. The fries were the worst part, they tasted like they sat out for a while, or maybe they had freezer burn. Such a disappointing experience. I never really go to islands. I always thought this place was overrated. Had to go hear for a work function to celebrate milestones. Was here on a Thursday, 5pmsh. Ordered some appetizers and drinks. The food and Drinks did not disappoint! Happy hour was definitely worth it. Prices were all half off from the happy hour menu drinks and special menu and appetizers. We kept ordering drinks and Food. Lol Overall had a good time. My pocket did not hurt. I left around 8pmsh and was feeling good. Great service and parking. Definitely worth it for happy hour. I am yet to try regular hours. read more

Here for a quick bite. Sat outside in the patio. Server was friendly but not attentive. Quiet inside and outside, so can't blame it on that. Got a bowl of the tortilla soup, skimpy on the chicken. Got the Islands Tropical flight and that was awesome, especially the Big Island Iced Tea and Shipwrecked-- delicious!! Hate to see it offered only as a summer item. First time at Islands and stopped in with my husband and daughter for a quick bite. The menu is pretty extensive--lots of options, which some might love, but I personally find a little overwhelming. Service was nice and the place seemed very busy but clean and in order. I went with the fried chicken salad, which was fresh and tasty, and also ordered the chicken tortilla soup. If you've read any of my previous reviews, you know I always try the soup if it's on the menu. This one was just okay--not one of my favorites. My husband had tacos that must have been great because he didn't save me a bite. My daughter had the chicken strips and fries, which she enjoyed. I have been coming here to this specific location for 20 years and this time I have noticed major differences than the islands usual. The spinach dip is maybe a quarter of the size with 15 chips. I would not order again. My favorite is the endless tortilla that has stayed consistent over the years. The chips and salsa has gotten worse from the usual. The tuna burger was okay but I would still recommended the Kiluaua or classic big wave. We sometimes stop by this location on our way home from LAX to kill time so traffic will die down a bit. It is in an upscale mall with several parking garages and outdoor lots. Nevertheless, parking can be challenging during dinner hours, holidays, and any peak times. The restaurant itself can get quite loud when busy. We have not had to wait to get a table, but we have seen a short line when we were leaving before. Sometimes the servers can take a while to initially get to your table, but once they arrive, they provide good and friendly service and check back on you. The food quality is comparable to about all the other locations. We like the burgers, fries, salads, and burger bowls. Other items have hit and miss quality. Plan to wait 10-20 min when not busy and 20-30 min when busy for your food. They have a happy hour with nice tasting cocktails. Check the website for current hours as they change. Tastes will vary but the margarita, daiquiri, deep blue sea, and shipwreck are good. The deserts are small but have a lot of calories. They are not bad, but you are either better off getting a cocktail or shake or smoothie or going elsewhere for desert. All and all this is a great place to go for a sit down dine-in burger experience. Just expect to pay more, wait longer, and leave a tip as compared to fast food. read more

The speed of service depends on how busy they are but either way, pretty fast. Big TVs with today's sporting event and some surfing ‍ and snow skiing videos . Fries are hit and miss. Bar service was great in my visit . I was constantly checked on and was greeted very warmly from the very beginning . The bartender was super quick to help me clear the table . I think we had telepathy she got me napkins right when I looked up at her at some point lol . I wanted an appetizer and a drink. If you like a nice fruity Margarita try the passion paradise margarita on the rocks the Tajin rim is a plus . So far so good . Normally I'm a fan of Islands Restaurant and always go to the one located in Redondo Beach and receive excellent service every time. Coming here to the Manhattan location today, that was not the case. I arrived for happy hour and went to the bar area, not packed and it was easy to find a seat. However, not one bartender or waitress approached me, but as soon as a regular customer arrived, they rushed right over to her. Not until I gave the bartender the eye did she asked if I want anything. I ended up only having a drink and leaving. I did stop to speak to Victor,the manager and he apologized for the service I received and did what he could to make it right. So I do appreciate that. read more

They tasted as if they hadn't changed the taste of the grease. You can't definitely taste old grease. It had a bad aftertaste. The salsa also didn't taste good. It just tasted like tomato paste. With my feet dangling from the booth, I would smash my Tiki Tenders (chicken tenders) and my brother would demolish his Sandcastle (grilled cheese). We would split a basket of endless fries that, to this day, are my favorite fries on the planet... TO THIS DAY. That "Islands Secret Seasoning" for the fries is the real life Krabby Patty. Our most recent trip was the most special yet. I was back in from NYC and it was my grandparents, my mom, my brother and I, and his 3 month old baby posted in a stroller. 4 generations in this thang. Beautiful if you really sit and think about it. I've graduated from the tiki tenders to a Big Wave ($15.59), which is essentially just a hamburger. HUGE portion though. It also comes with a big side of their infamous fries, which in 2024 is a rarity. Even though it hurts my soul they got rid of the endless fries, I can't really be mad. WORST experience at islands today. First of all I have never heard of not heating up tortillas while serving fish tacos! (the waiter Chris stated they don't heat up the tortillas) So that means I'm eating raw tortillas!!!! please explain? EVERYTHING WAS ORDERED AT THE SAME TIME 1. We were meeting up with relatives flying in from the East Coast who we hadn't seen since 2019. Their flight was unknowingly delayed. My son and I waited at the restaurant in a nice large booth (for 6-8) just around corner from the front street entrance. The server ... was GREAT!!! He kept checking on us while we waited and was so pleasant . Sadly, I didn't get his name. He had a brown beard and was a tiny bit husky. Brownish hair. He was outstanding and professional. We live near this location and dine here often. About halfway through our meal this evening a customer came into the restaurant with a large curly haired dog and sat down at a booth. A few minutes later his owner walked with the dog through the restaurant and went into the bathroom and then returned to the booth. There is sign on the door saying that dogs are allowed on the patio. The website says this as well. I asked our server what the dog policy is. She said that dogs can come into the restaurant as long as they stay under the table. I asked her if they ever check to see if the dogs are service dogs. She said "no." Later I called and talked with the manager - Victor. He told me that service dogs are allowed in the restaurant but they must stay under the booth. He also said that service dogs must have a vest of some sort indicating that they are a service dog. This particular dog had nothing indicating it was a service dog. When I got there, there were lots of seats still, even though the game had just started. They had all the games on TV. There was only two servers at the bar, but they actually kept up with everyone's orders. We went here during a weekday before standard dinner time, and the food and service was horrible. We ended up being forced to sit here for 2+ hours for just two drinks each, chips & salsa, and two burgers. I don't have our waitress's name, she was a young girl with blonde hair and a ribbon in her hair. During our 2 hour trip here, she only checked on us 4 times. We sat at the table with dirty dishes that she would visibly look at, but refused to take it. We would go long periods of time with no drinks. We were served burnt, bland burgers that we didn't eat. We asked for the check multiple times and then I had to hunt her down in the restaurant to get her to process payment. Our waitress seemed to have no issues helping and checking in on the other tables, so I am not sure what her issue was... As I was driving, I figured I could call in an order as I was about five minutes away and it would be ready by the time I pulled up. Called at 9:05 on the dot. Asked to place a to go order. The host said "we don't accept orders after 9pm". My response was "But you close at 10pm?" She says "Yes, that's correct." I've been going to Islands for years, and this location is my favorite. It's conveniently close to home, and the service is consistently friendly and efficient. Their menu has changed since I've been here I ordered the nacho plate to share and we got the big wave which is just a regular burger with tomatoes, lettuce, onions pickles, mustard, and cheese.
