I love sushi and was looking for a really good place since moving to Texas. My husband doesn't eat sushi so we needed a place with good options for him. We went almost as soon as they opened on a Sunday so it wasn't crowded. The servers were all very friendly and welcoming. Our server explained the menu, inquired about what we liked and made recommendations. My husband found several things he liked and wanted to try. The rice was good, however I wasn't told there was a $6 upcharge for fried rice when given the option of white, brown, or fried, which felt a bit steep. The chicken gyoza tasted more frozen than fresh and weren't fully seared. We ate them mostly because of the price and the fact that we were hungry, but I've definitely had better. I have now been twice for their happy hour. You can't beat it! First of all you can park in the Union garage and they will validate your parking so no need to mess with street parking. Secondly, it is so cute inside! Overall a vibe in there plus they have outdoor covered seating if that's your vibe. We first tried the chili garlic edamame, Japanese nachos, and vc rock shrimp tempura appetizers. While all three were good, the edamame and shrimp stood out the most. The seasoning on the edamame was delicious - it's up there with the best edamame I've had. The sashimi was solid, but we didn't order too much due to the price. We also tried the black & yellow and black dragon rolls, and between the two I preferred the black dragon as the flavors went together really well. The service was about average. Our friend is vegetarian and he was given something with meat, which our waitress switched out after he noticed but is just something to be cautious of. Ummmmm, this is a Sushi restaurant, and we all know there is no rice attached to Sashimi. Maybe it's just me. The word Sushi does actually mean Sour Rice. Maybe that's literal here. Maybe every dish has rice? 2. The General Ten Chicken was just okay, and the other guests' entrees & sushi was acceptable. The level of quality in the dishes on the menu do not match the decor, staffing or pricing. I can get decent Sushi from a grocery store. We noshed on Japanese nachos and chicken gyoza, The drinks and apps were all tasty and the bartender Noah took great care of us! The restaurant is absolutely beautiful and we had fun taking Insta pics! It was a warm December evening, so we decided to sit on the patio to continue our experience. The patio is equally as lovely as the interior of the restaurant! Tina was our server and she was excellent at making sure we had everything we needed even though the patio filled up fast and she was juggling a number of tables. We shared the Spicy Domo, Ten-Tation and Lion King rolls. The Lion King was our favorite and the Ten-Tation was our least favorite.
