Not recommended for birthdays. If you're unlucky and your birthday is on their rotten days, food won't be the only thing poorly served. From repetitive food spilling to casual mocking to straight up calling you a retard. My friend, a native mandarin speaker, on her birthday, bitterly translated the insults. Ten is my favourite all you can eat restaurant in Ottawa. I can agree with other commenters when they say the service isn't great, but I honestly don't mind. I'm not against the minimal contact with servers because they are quick and efficient. Also, if you do need to speak with a server- it may be difficult to find someone but once you do they are always kind and willing to help. read more

Every time I go it seems to be going down a star. We may have to find a new sushi joint. The service has gone down substantially, not even a smile or anything during our entire time there. We waited 15 mins to be able to get a hold of someone to refill our drinks as they kept walking by noticing our empty glasses. The food was ok, nothing to write home about. I'm really sad this is starting to go downhill as I loved it when we first started going. The parking situation is also horrendous, more then half the parking lot is gone with only about 5-6 spots in total... for a large restaurant that can hold about 100 people at max capacity. ------ Updating my review I'm docking it a star, the sushi rice was quite warm this time around. Still delicious food, but that did disappoint me a bit. Warm rice It takes away from the sushi. ---------- Came here for dinner, I was very happy with my meal. The food came out in a good amount of time, and was delicious. I loved the fact that the sushi rice wasn't warm. So many AYCE restos serve sushi with warm rice, so nasty. But we didn't come across that at all. Dinner is a bit steep in price, but it's the same for all AYCE during dinner service. I will try and keep to lunch service for more bang for my buck. I was here on a Saturday night at 6 PM sharp in mid-January. First impressions: - Big restaurant, has tables big enough to accomodate groups of up to 10-12 - Cool decor, pretty modern-ish - Clean restaurant Pro's: - HUGE selection, this is great for an AYCE in Ottawa as it is rare to have such a vast variety in a non-Vancouver/non-Toronto/non-Montreal city - The Eel here is freaking good, you HAVE to order the eel under the 'sushi' menu (Eel on top of rice) - iPad ordering (go digitalization!) - Shrimp Tempura is a solid 8/10, ORDER THIS! Con's: - Service was a little off, our dirty plates were piling up and we had no place to place them - Freshness of a few fishes was off, the Octopus and Squid was tasteless, especially the Tai (Red Snapper), which was not good at all In-between's: - Salmon was alright, felt a bit lacking on the oilyness and freshness, but then again, it probably was frozen, but disappointing since I was expecting a little bit more oilyness out of the salmon sashimi - Taste of food was just ok, not great not bad Would I come back? This place was terrible. The serving amount per order is not explicitly specified on the menu. More expensive items like sashimi are given very sparingly, while cheap, deep fried items are initially served as 1 or 2 pc per order, but with any subsequent order they would give you 4 or 5 pcs per order. If you cannot finish your food, you will be gifted with a surcharge for unfinished food. The management was rude and the food is mediocre. Don't go there unless you love ordering by tablet. The staff were really not knowledgeable. We had difficulty ordering and they were totally unable to offer good advice. We each wanted a beer and they brought us a plastic glass WITH ice and a straw - for a beer? We ended up walking out (we hadn't opened the beers) and will never go back as long as they use tablets instead of people for orders. The Sushi MAY be OK but we didn't try it. The food is good here. I've been coming to this restaurant for quite a few years. The service leaves a lot to be desired, however. Servers can often be seen on there phones. The other reason for my low score is that the restaurant is not wheelchair accessible. The front door has a button, but it doesn't work. read more

I regularly eat at this restaurant and have since it opened. Yesterday I had an experience that left me speechless. At the end of our meal, when it was time to pay, the server very quietly told our table not to tip. When we asked why he let us know the Manager keeps all the tips. When I told him that is wrong, he became extremely nervous and asked us to not say anything. No less than 30 seconds later, the manager is st our table aggressively speaking to our server in Cantonese/Mandarin. It was very clear the employee was scared and getting into some kind of trouble. I will never go to Ten Sushi again knowing the management keeps the hard earned tips of their employees. This is a clear violation of the Employment Standards ACT, and is disgusting as a practice. This place recently rebranded themselves from Sushi Kan 3 to Ten Sushi (there is another ten Sushi on bank street). It's pretty good - you order on a tablet which you get to keep throughout the duration of your visit, they aren't too heavy on the rice, and they have several kinds of sashimi available for dinner (which is the essentially the only thing I get at AYCE sushi). I ate lunch here today and it was amazing quality for a sushi buffet and grilled items. Food came fast and accurate.. service is where they lost a star. Our drinks were empty for 5 minutes, it was hard to flag a waitress/waiter down as they would wait by the back wall, uninterested to make sure things were alright. We tried the "help" button on the iPad and that didn't do anything either. You gotta be vocal to eat here! Food is worth it if you can handle mediocre service. read more

I came to the place with my friends. One of them had a birthday that day. I tried to be polite and tell the waiter for any birthday treat for her. Later that before we finished and walked out, we heard a lot of verbal harassment about us as costumer and one of them called us retard in mandarin. We know their language but we just casually walked out and feeling quite upset. The waiters also spilled on our table multiple time and showed attitude to us too. Please consider carefully next time you decide to walk on this place when you know you could be the next one to be verbally harassed. read more

I came here for the first time the other day. The rolls and tempura were delicious. However, I was not impressed with the soup. The seafood udon I ordered was not fresh and I found beef in it. Incredibly great food and service, I recommend this restaurant as a distraction to Sushi. I went yesterday with my family, I tell you I went to several Sushi restaurants. I prefer this one. One issue keeps repeating itself they bring my soup cold all the time no matter what I tell tnem. I think only a few employees speak English, the rest nudge yes and they do nothing. Seeing Employees turn over is very noticeable. Make sure to speak up and tell the staff if you do not like something. I reduced the number of stars to send management a strong message. read more

I have been to the Bank location many times and have always had great food. We decided to try the City Park Dr. location as we were in the area. The sushi was good as was the General Tao's Chicken. However, every thing was obviously prepared in advance and it showed. Our entire order of tempura veggies, shrimp and crab was so soggy and wet and cold. Gross. We had to send the Korean chicken back as the chicken was covered in tons and tons of fat. Our spring rolls were cold and soggy and we actually wrapped all 4 in a napkin and threw them out in the bathroom so we wouldn't be charged. Grilled veggies were very limp and luke warm. Obviously cooked in advance and just sitting in a tray trying to stay warm. Green onion wrapped in beef was so tough. Calamari was tough like eating a rubber band. However, our servers were excellent and very friendly. We won't be back to this location but instead will go back to the one on Bank street where the food is fresh and hot. read more
