Staff were always coming to the table to clear which was nice. Food came pretty quickly. Staff... Brisk. Not friendly per se but professional. You just order from the tablet, pics included. Green tea comes complimentary but you have to ask for it. I really loved the tempura scallops and still think about them all the time, minus the mayo. So yummy. Parking wasn't a problem either. Fri afternoon, not too busy but you can tell the place is popular. My picky sushi friend lives far from here and comes here all the time. It's her fave so, that says a lot. Left stuffed. Some decent options for vegans such as Avocado, Avocado Cucumber, Sweet Potato, Tofu rolls and hand rolls. Edamame was very less seasoned Some Spicy Korean Tofu and Fried Rice were also enjoyed. But ordering them to make sure they don't contain eggs or other items was a challenge. The server spoke very little English and that made it difficult. Haven't been here in a couple years due to previous not so great experience but bestie wanted to try this place out. Our server/host was very friendly and gave us instructions. He also showed us the amount of rolls in some sushi items so that we didn't try to over order since they charge per item for any unfinished food which was nice of him. I was a little hesitant to try this place due to the mixed reviews, but overall I thought it was ok. Service was excellent for an "all you can eat" place and food was acceptable. Although it's called a buffet, it's actually an "all you can eat (AYCE)." You don't actually serve yourself, you need to order your items, but you can order as much as you want. I went here with my parents for their lunch buffet on a Wednesday ($13.95 per person). We were pretty surprised that that place was quite full for a weekday lunch. Nonetheless the servers were very nice and pleasant. We got all the items that we ordered, and food was brought out in a timely manner. The servers refilled our waters when our glasses got empty. You place your orders on a iPad and your order gets sent directly to the kitchen. The server showed us how to place our orders, explained the portion sizes, and stated that if you order more than you can eat, any leftovers will be charged at the à la carte prices. I mentioned to the server that I can't eat sesame seeds and she said that she would tell the kitchen not to put sesame seeds on anything that is ordered from our table. All our items came without sesame seeds except for the sushi pizza (which was fine with me because my parents ordered it and I didn't want any anyway). Overall the food was ok. I've had better but I've also had worse. Maki rolls were decent for an all-you-can eat place. The rice to filling ratio was acceptable. Ingredients tasted fresh. Obviously the quality is less than sushi restaurants where you pay by the piece, but that is to be expected. Dim sum items were overall not bad. The har gow (shrimp dumplings) were full of shrimp, but I didn't really like the wrapping. The wrapping was too soft and doughy and it was not as chewy as at other places. The siu mai (pork meatballs wrapped in a wonton wrapper) was good. Not too salty and not too fatty tasting. Fried shrimp wonton were very tasty but there was way too much wonton wrapper for the amount of filling. The wrapper was crispy and puffed up really big, but it overwhelmed the amount of shrimp filling. The filling was good though, it was mainly shrimp with some spices. Not too much filler. Unfortunately the fried calamari were terrible. They were rock hard and dried out. They tasted like dehydrated calamari (if such a thing even exists). The batter was ok though. Shrimp tempura were good. The shrimp used were not that large, but they still tasted good, although there was probably too much tempura batter. They were not overly greasy though. General Tao Chicken was more sweet than spicy. Pieces are small with lots of batter. The Short Ribs were super fatty. We regretted ordering these. The Teriyaki Beef was tender and done medium well. The sauce was a little too sweet for my liking, but it was still good. Teriyaki Salmon was ok (same sweet sauce as the beef), but the salmon smelled a little too fishy for my tastes. The Beef Udon Soup was good. The broth was a little too salty for me, but overall good flavour. They don't give you a lot of beef though. There's mostly noodles and vegetables (broccoli, onions, cabbage, carrots and seaweed). The Spicy Korean Beef and Beef Bulgogi were both very similar with one being spicy and the other being non-spicy. The beef was soft and tender, but the dish was mostly vegetables (broccoli, red and green peppers, and onions). The Spicy Szechuan Chicken and Spicy Korean Chicken were also similar with slightly different spices. They too were mostly vegetables (broccoli, red and green peppers, and onions). Chicken Pad Thai while not authentic tasting was good. There was very little chicken though, it was mostly noodles and vegetables. We were way too full to have any dessert, unfortunately. The restaurant is very big and it's relatively new looking. The place was clean, including the washrooms. I did not notice any unusual smells like mentioned in a previous review. They have a parking lot with lots of free parking. Overall this place was decent, but I wasn't personally crazy about the food. read more

My boyfriend and I love this place! We always luck out and get a big booth. It is very comfortable. The service is crazy fast. Once you order your food in the iPad, you can expect to get your first dished within 2-3 minutes (and that is on a Saturday night). Any sushi with avocado is awesome. I'm telling you, their avocados are so fresh and creamy. Their udon soups & tempura dishes are amazing too! I will say, we tend to avoid ordering their meat dishes because they give you a massive portion. I wish they didn't give so much (because you have to finish it, or you pay for the leftovers) and I'd rather not fill up on one dish. I really enjoy the sushi at this restaurant. I think I have found my new regular AYCE spot. It is similar to many All-You-Can-Eat locations: order on an iPad, food comes sporadically, refills seem to be by request only, but the food is tasty. In particular, the rolls are really yummy. The cooked food is also quite decent as well. The service is a mixture of prompt and lacking. When the food is ready, is comes out quite quickly after ordering, but trying to get the attention of the staff to request more ginger or a water top up, is challenging to say the least. The most notable irritant about this location is the door chime. It's a motion sensor, so if someone is standing close to the front door, the bells goes off over and over again, and it's loud! Overall, I will go back - partially because it's the better of the AYCE choices I have tried in Ottawa so far, but also because I legitimately enjoyed the food and it was a reasonable price as thee things go. For an All You Can Eat, Sushi Ten is a solid four stars. This restaurant follows the trend of iPad ordering. The menu is fairly straightforward and there were problems with missing orders. Service was fast and surprisingly quick. There are always waiters walking by who you can flag down. They are also very quick to pick up empty plates. Food wise, the sashimi was pretty fresh tasting. There were no semi frozen fish served here. The miso soup wasn't too salty like at some other places. The sweet and sour soup is too sweet. The edamame beans were nice and firm and not mushy. The maki rolls were pretty tasty too. Of all the rolls, the Futomaki roll wasn't great. The grilled and fried appetizers came out piping hot - the enoki beef rolls and bacon-wrapped asparagus. We only had one incident where we tried to pay with a USA Visa card (which happens to also be a debit). However anyone who travels back and forth knows USA debit doesn't work in Canada. But they wouldn't take my USA visa. So we just paid with a Canadian card. It bothered me that she wouldn't swipe it and see it's just a regular credit card. Wow. Just wow. The last time I was here about a month ago, we week on a weekday for lunch. And that was an amazing experience... I went today again, this time on a weekend, for the lunch ayce. What a huge mistake. The service was terrible! We had to wait about 15 mins for a seat, then once we got seated, it took another 10 minutes or so after we ordered to start getting food. The biggest disappointment was the miso soup - which had absolutely nothing in it! It was pure soup... And the fried milk - wow, they give me 2 tiny balls of it. One of it didn't even have milk inside it! Such a disappointment. The waiter was also giving us attitude when we asked where the food was, since they did forget some things. We ate so much, I basically had to roll out the door. Alright so, I'll break it down a bit because there is a lot of information about to come your way. Ready? Okay! Decor: The venue is a bit dated, it could certainly use a fresh coat of paint, as there are spots where there are literal patches missing. I do love the chandeliers though, they're very sparkly and give it a little something extra. Service: It's kind of cool. You get a tablet-type electronic menu, where you select your items and then order it electronically. There are pictures, too, which really helps. Once you order, it doesn't take long for your food to come. They're prompt, I'll give them that! I will say, however, that our servers seemed less than enthused to be there. Almost downright unhappy. Luckily, they were at our table dropping off food, and gone again so quickly that there is minimal interaction. Food: Lots of selection, which is great for an All You Can Eat spot. Seriously, they have so many choices. Don't eat before coming here and don't expect to eat after. I was pretty satisfied with about 90% of our orders. The lemon chicken (deep fried and breaded) that I had was kind of dry, but otherwise, I can't complain too much. My personal favourites were the red bean ice cream and sesame balls for dessert. Yummy! Overall I enjoyed it. It is comparable to many AYCE sushi spots in Ottawa. Be forewarned- it is a very busy location and parking can be tricky to find, so try to go on off nights or lunch when things aren't so hectic. If you go on a weekend, you can expect to wait for a seat as well (we went around 1:30 on a Saturday and waited about 25 minutes) I would go again, and I think it's worth trying at least once! read more

I will say the hot and sour soup was not that flavourful or warm, and this is where they missed out on the 5 stars in my opinion. They had many different categories, so if someone doesn't like sushi they will be able to enjoy noodles or rice or other meat dishes. The ice cream and deep fried milk were both pleasantly delicious and not something I expected to like as much as I did. I was so disappointed in the experience I had here tonight. My friend was having his birthday party and invited me, and so in spite of my many severe food allergies I decided to spend some time with them. So I phoned ahead, and the staff were not very helpful to begin with. They lacked any sense of compassion, but eventually reluctantly agreed that I could sit in the restaurant with my friends *this time*. It was disheartening, but I planned ahead and ate beforehand. Then I arrived at the restaurant, and even brought my own water so as not to inconvenience the staff. Meanwhile in spite of my precautions the staff seemed to go out of their way to make me feel super uncomfortable, and the waiter was really quite rude about it all. It didn't help that another guest was also not eating, because she can't eat medically eat a huge portion and they wouldn't consider letting her order a la carte or with the kids menu. I understand that it's important for restaurants to make money. But in this case I offered money to be able to eat my own food... and the other guest offered to buy a kid's buffet to eat 5 pieces of sushi. In any case we weren't causing a problem and we didn't touch any of the food. YET... the staff still made a scene and made sure we knew that "this time... my manager will allow it... but next time...". Guess what? There will never be a next time. I will actively encourage friends, family, and colleagues who want to go out for sushi to avoid this restaurant. When I start researching safe places to eat in the future... this will definitely not be on the list. The staff lack kindness, tact, understanding and grace. They have some unique menu items such as fried milk. My favourite AYCE sushi is still Fusion House because they have sushi AND dimsum! Ten Sushi is my personal favorite AYCE sushi place in Ottawa. From my experience it has the most consistency among the AYCE places I've tried. The service is cold, but otherwise fast and efficient. The food is great, though the sushi itself is what you'd expect from an AYCE place (not the highest quality and cheaper fish being sold as their more expensive lookalikes). As with most AYCE places, I feel like it's more worth it to go for lunch over dinner though, as I don't think the expanded menu is worth that much more, and it's not like you're eating a greater quantity of food. read more

Been here twice & definitely not good for vegetarians. Reserved judgment the first time when one of my rolls came out covered in roe from a spill, because I hadn't specified that I was vegetarian so I just didn't eat it, explained to them so I wouldn't have to pay for it, and that was fine. The second time, I let them know that I would like my order kept separate from the roe or other fish and I got a pink sheet to order from, but my rolls still came out with a smattering of roe from cross contamination. This was our third or fourth time coming here. Service was amateur. Lots of people but nobody really knew what they were doing when the smallest issue came up. We ordered avocado salad for example and there was zero dressing. So when we asked if the salad was supposed to come without it, we had no less than 6 servers trying to help lol. Went here for the first time last night. We got here at 5pm to a very empty restaurant, but with in 1/2 hour the place was packed. It is a really good ayce. The iPad ordering system is super easy, the food can out really quickly. I did notice some of the rolls fell apart easily but still everything tasted great! We stopped here on the day after the grand opening. Interior is quite lovely, booths are comfy and would work well for a group of 4 to 8 people. Wait service and runners were great - we got everything we needed quickly and efficiently. My one complaint in this area: restaurant wasn't full - maybe 75% capacity - but we had to wait for them to clear and table. When we got there, the table was *wet* and the place settings were haphazardly positioned. Minor issue, but it will stick out for a portion of the population as a sloppy item. Turns out they use iPad Minis for their menu - which was kind of neat. Theory doesn't always bear out though. Even though it was only day 2, the iPad we were handed was filthy. You could feel bumps of food as you scrolled on the screen. It grossed me out just a little bit. (What can I say?) Investing in some screen appropriate cleaning clothes might be a great idea. As for the application itself - it was easy enough to use. (Note: I'm going into a technology chat now and it probably has nothing to do with the restaurant, but hopefully they've give the feedback to their supplier... skip to the end of this paragraph if you don't care.) The menu consists of some text choices down the left hand side. If you are on the ball, you'll try scrolling on the left menu. There are more choices further down, but it's not at all obvious on the screen. The rest of the display is pictures of the food. When you click on a picture it takes you to a slightly larger version of the same picture (same resolution too). There's lots of white space - I'm *ass*u*me*-ing that text can go in there to describe the food item. This would be very helpful on things like the Capital Roll, where you really can't tell from low resolution picture what's in the roll. If that white space doesn't accommodate text, it should. One other thought - we were provided with one iPad for two people. Not sure what we would have gotten if there were 4 of us. Even with 2 people, sharing the iPad didn't work. Hubby hogged it, fascinated by the use of the technology. I sat there bored. Really need one per person, or at least ask if more than one device is needed. Quite possible at this point that the software ordering system can only handle one device per table, but as a future development opportunity, more than one per table would be great. I liked the food - as far as all you can eat goes, it was good and fast. They could work a bit on the little dish of wasabi and 2 (literally 2) slices of ginger. The wasabi had clearly been plated earlier in the evening and was showing signs of drying out. I'd like a bit more ginger please. Most interesting food item: The "pizza" items. Tried one - loved the rice base, found the sauce too sweet... Glad I tried it, but probably won't order again. One is enough for two people to try as it's large relative to typical sushi items. Did the fried bananas. Maybe I was just to full to appreciate them, but I didn't. A bit too greasy. Beyond those two minor comments (more of a personal taste comment than complaint) everything else we tried was delicious! (And by the end of it, remembered why I avoid buffets - way too full!) Would I return: Yes Would I recommend: If you are in the Bank / Alta Vista area and want food, this is a good option. Note: I want to emphasize we were there on day 2 of opening. All restaurants struggle with little issues for the first few months, so while I'm giving them a three overall, they have the potential to be more than that. UPDATE: FEB, 2016 There is, unfortunately, a general trend with AYCE sushi places where they can start out well and then the service and quality starts to slip. Sometimes they can recover, sometimes not. After a visit last week to Ten (probably my fifth visit in total), I was seriously unimpressed where things were at. Service was seriously questionable with the server actually arguing with us over a particular issue and throughout the evening we were brought food we didn't order. Service, however, is never a strong suit in AYCE sushi places to begin with so I can cut them a little slack there. Where I can't cut them any slack is in the quality of the sushi and food items going downhill. To be blunt, nearly everything we had was particularly bad (sushi and sashimi did not taste fresh and most of the other dishes were bland) even though it was a packed Friday night. All in all, our party of four were seriously disappointed. Enough to say that I don't know if I would go back as I wouldn't want to run the risk of getting such a bad experience again. This is disappointing as there really aren't that many good AYCE sushi places in Ottawa. Rating changed from 4 to 2 stars. ------------ All you can eat sushi places in Ottawa always seem a bit of a compromise. They are (hopefully) at least one step up from grocery store sushi (sorry grocery store sushi fans!) but never quite the level you would get at a good Japanese/sushi restaurant. But at the same time, they are often a fraction of what it would cost to eat at a good sushi restaurant so, at least for me, I'm willing to put up with a bit less quality in order to get my sushi fix. Thankfully, I don't seem to have to compromise much by eating at Ten Sushi. FOOD - GREAT I'm a bit of a sashimi fan. It's the primary item I order and Ten Sushi didn't disappoint. They had all the staples plus some squid (no red tuna though) and the pieces were fresh and large. For the sushi, we found the sizes decent, without an abundance of rice (sushi with a lot of rice is a turn off for me), and everything tasted fresh and juicy. As such, the sashimi and sushi was a general hit though of course some items may suit some people more than others. For the non-sushi items, it was pretty much par for the course. Tempura was 'okay' being about as good as any AYCE place but not as good as a dedicated Japanese restaurant. The same goes for the other dishes we tried (sesame chicken, spare ribs, dumplings...). All in all, the food was at least as good or a bit better as any other AYCE sushi place I've tried (and I've tried a lot) so I'm happy in this regard. ORDERING - COULD USE IMPROVEMENT As seems to be the standard for AYCE sushi places, Ten Sushi also uses tablets for ordering. These seem to be a hit or miss affair for me and this time it was a bit of a miss. The software was slow and very buggy and when we were finally ready to order, the system just hanged and we had to wait for a server to fix it. SERVICE - GOOD AND QUICK Once our order went through though, food items started appearing very quickly. So quickly that it was apparent it wasn't made to order as the items must have already been prepared. This of course makes sense. As we moved away from the standard fair to some of the specialty rolls, service time took a little longer but it could also have just been busier at that time. All in all though service was good OTHER - SEATING On a Friday night, when we arrived around 6:30, there was a large amount of people waiting to be seated but the restaurant is actually larger than it looks. While we were told it would be about 20-30 minutes to be seated, we ended up only having to wait about 5-10 minutes. I have no idea if they take reservations. -- In conclusion, I have to say I liked my meal and I would definitely go back. I hope that they keep the same level of quality with the food as this is something that seems to suffer at a lot of other AYCE sushi places (good at the start and then within a year it nosedives to the point that you never go back) but only time will tell. First time here tonight. Pretty impressed. Lots of parking. Indoor of the restaurant is very tastefully decorated. Lots and lots of places to sit. The building is quite large. You make your order on an iPad mini which I thought was pretty cool. Not sure about the hygiene issue with this but I tried not to think about it. Food was great. It was all fresh and well cooked. Fish was tasty and fresh. Service was good. Staff were all very friendly. The reason why I am giving it 4/5 stars is because we went in around 8:45. Last call is at 9:30. They close at 10:00. They literally cleaned all the tables around us and then were standing around our table waiting to clean it. It made us feel really awkward and we got up and left without finishing our dessert.
