Nice flavor with authentic broth. 'Love the duck soup. Good place to go if you have a group of 4-5.

Other side of menu with a variety of selection for meat and veggies

This was my first time eating hotpot ever! I always saw it on Merivale but never tried it until now. I'm so glad I went. The place is organized well with tables and booths for separate pots and group pots. It was quite empty due to the current situation going on in the world. Luckily our service was very quick and the waitress answered all our questions. I went with my siblings and we all got one large pot with 3 soup bases (see pictures). We ordered all the meat we could and some veggies. There's a sauce station where you can make your own concoctions or follow Liuyishou's recommendations (ingredients given on paper). The food came quite quickly and we were given a boiling time sheet (so you know how long to the food). Everything tasted absolutely amazing and I'm definitely going back!! I recommend going in a group because it can get pricey however you get what you pay for. Great quality! Our total came to around $128. Not bad for 4 adults. It's not AYCE by the way! Just go there and try anything that interests you. See my pictures for what I ordered. Try the Chinese doughnuts (bread) too (forgot to take a picture). Overall fantastic experience :)

One word: expensive! The bill for 3 people was almost $70, so it would be better to come here with more friends so you can get more variety! Everything is definitely very fresh however. First off, you can choose your size of pot, as well as if you want spicy/non-spicy (you can have both)! Tip: the non-spicy broth is delicious to drink after you are done as a soup...all the flavours of the veggies and meat really complement the broth! Then you pay $2.50 per person to have access to the sauce station, as well as unlimited appetizers near the sauce station (wood fungus, cabbage...and fruits)! Then on your sheet you can pick the meats/veggies you want. I would recommend half sizes (which you can get with almost everything except the platters) for more variety! The place was very modern and comfortable. It was packed, so service can be slow. I had to ask for iced water twice (for the spicy broth)! They give you tea, and you can ask for them to bring the tea pot for your table's use. I only tried the lamb, which was tender and fresh, as well as a few veggies. When you leave, you don't stink like hotpot unlike Mongolian hot pot! I imagine it would be lovely in winter when it's freezing, but they had ample A/C on in the hot weather.

A well known hotpot from China, the Ottawa location is their 885th location.

It's a great cozy place, for a chinese fondu (Hot pot), they offer real fresh meat and veggies. You can choose single or split soup base, perfect for a group of friends where some like spicy and some prefer simple flavour. The service is okay, I'd expect a little more from a large franchise restaurant. Be sure to try their hand battered shrimp patty, boil it to make shrimp ball. Super tasty and super fresh!

Half wild mushroom soup base, half traditional spicy soup base (mild but pretty spicy). Same price as choosing 1 soup base.

Protip = Not AYCE. Better value if you come with more people! Now onto the actual review... AMBIANCE = The interior is much nicer than what you'd typically expect in a restaurant in these strip malls. I think all tables have comfy benches - half the store is big hot pot (everyone share one pot) and the other half is for individual pots. Nice lighting, good ventilation considering it's a hotpot place. FOOD = SO MANY CHOICES. Broths were great. I liked the mushroom one. If you can't do spicy, the spicy broths may kill you lol. I can generally handle spicy and I almost died...but then maybe that's because I tried to eat the vermicelli that disintegrated at the bottom and ended up chewing on the deathly spicy herbs/pepper bits...so....don't do that. Note for the future: their vermicelli cooks really fast so don't let go of it from your chopsticks, just dip! (Some other kinds take forever to cook but this is not the case here.) All the items we ordered were fresh and clean. I recommend the wintermelons! SERVICE = Generally great. They spend time with you explaining how to order, answer all your questions, and are pretty prompt when you flag them down when you need stuff. (This is a Chinese style restaurant so if you need something you have to call them, otherwise they won't come check on you.) When they get busy it's hard to get their attention though. PRICE = It adds up pretty quickly if you're just 2-3 people. For the 2 of us it came to like...$45-50 after taxes and tip. If I go next time, I'll be sure to bring more people.

very nice customer service. Music can be a bit loud sometimes. Big portions of side foods. Really nice spice area where people can get their own spices. Free wifi

Really authentic Sichuan hot pot. Great service and great food. Highly recommend! The cold jelly dessert is a must try.

Great service and exceptional quality. This a A la carte hot pot franchise from China. You definitely get what you pay for. The meat and vegetables are fresh. The service is top notch. The employees look after you making sure your table is cleared and not overcrowded. The traditional spicy secret soup base is a definite must have as is their special pork rib soup base. Their sauce bar is diverse. I would recommend a reservation as the restaurant has only about 20 tables and seats about 80-100.

Went there last year. Good service and excellent choices and quality, but it is quite expensive as it is not all u can eat.

Review Highlights - Liuyishou Hotpot

Went pretty simple with a spicy broth and the pork bone broth and it was great with the veggies and meat we also got.
