Avocado roll

I'm not sure that I will go back tbh, it was not worth it as a vegan :/ I do wish for more vegan options for sushi rolls, and the tempura items. Maybe have a separate vegan section as well so that they are not combined or made along with non vegan items :) The service was surprisingly quick, guessing their pre-made rolls?

This is my teriyaki salmon

The food was not good. I had sashimi, which was clearly frozen, and came out with a visible thick slime on it, and the salmon teriyaki was bland and overcooked and tye service was poor they hover like they want you to leave wich was very annoying and unprofessional.

a platter of sushi rolls

Haven't been here in a couple years due to previous not so great experience but bestie wanted to try this place out. Our server/host was very friendly and gave us instructions. He also showed us the amount of rolls in some sushi items so that we didn't try to over order since they charge per item for any unfinished food which was nice of him. The ipad to order was fun and user friendly. Their salmon sashimi was better quality than most that I've tried and the salmon taco (i think thats what it was called) was a new fave item for the both of us. The price was decent for an AYCE, non-weekend dinner- I think it was $32+tax pp and we definitely ate our money's worth.

I was a little hesitant to try this place due to the mixed reviews, but overall I thought it was ok. Service was excellent for an "all you can eat" place and food was acceptable. Although it's called a buffet, it's actually an "all you can eat (AYCE)." You don't actually serve yourself, you need to order your items, but you can order as much as you want. I went here with my parents for their lunch buffet on a Wednesday ($13.95 per person). We were pretty surprised that that place was quite full for a weekday lunch. Nonetheless the servers were very nice and pleasant. We got all the items that we ordered, and food was brought out in a timely manner. The servers refilled our waters when our glasses got empty. You place your orders on a iPad and your order gets sent directly to the kitchen. The server showed us how to place our orders, explained the portion sizes, and stated that if you order more than you can eat, any leftovers will be charged at the à la carte prices. I mentioned to the server that I can't eat sesame seeds and she said that she would tell the kitchen not to put sesame seeds on anything that is ordered from our table. All our items came without sesame seeds except for the sushi pizza (which was fine with me because my parents ordered it and I didn't want any anyway). Overall the food was ok. I've had better but I've also had worse. Maki rolls were decent for an all-you-can eat place. The rice to filling ratio was acceptable. Ingredients tasted fresh. Obviously the quality is less than sushi restaurants where you pay by the piece, but that is to be expected. Dim sum items were overall not bad. The har gow (shrimp dumplings) were full of shrimp, but I didn't really like the wrapping. The wrapping was too soft and doughy and it was not as chewy as at other places. The siu mai (pork meatballs wrapped in a wonton wrapper) was good. Not too salty and not too fatty tasting. Fried shrimp wonton were very tasty but there was way too much wonton wrapper for the amount of filling. The wrapper was crispy and puffed up really big, but it overwhelmed the amount of shrimp filling. The filling was good though, it was mainly shrimp with some spices. Not too much filler. Unfortunately the fried calamari were terrible. They were rock hard and dried out. They tasted like dehydrated calamari (if such a thing even exists). The batter was ok though. Shrimp tempura were good. The shrimp used were not that large, but they still tasted good, although there was probably too much tempura batter. They were not overly greasy though. General Tao Chicken was more sweet than spicy. Pieces are small with lots of batter. The Short Ribs were super fatty. We regretted ordering these. The Teriyaki Beef was tender and done medium well. The sauce was a little too sweet for my liking, but it was still good. Teriyaki Salmon was ok (same sweet sauce as the beef), but the salmon smelled a little too fishy for my tastes. The Beef Udon Soup was good. The broth was a little too salty for me, but overall good flavour. They don't give you a lot of beef though. There's mostly noodles and vegetables (broccoli, onions, cabbage, carrots and seaweed). The Spicy Korean Beef and Beef Bulgogi were both very similar with one being spicy and the other being non-spicy. The beef was soft and tender, but the dish was mostly vegetables (broccoli, red and green peppers, and onions). The Spicy Szechuan Chicken and Spicy Korean Chicken were also similar with slightly different spices. They too were mostly vegetables (broccoli, red and green peppers, and onions). Chicken Pad Thai while not authentic tasting was good. There was very little chicken though, it was mostly noodles and vegetables. We were way too full to have any dessert, unfortunately. The restaurant is very big and it's relatively new looking. The place was clean, including the washrooms. I did not notice any unusual smells like mentioned in a previous review. They have a parking lot with lots of free parking. Overall this place was decent, but I wasn't personally crazy about the food.

My boyfriend and I love this place! We always luck out and get a big booth. It is very comfortable. The service is crazy fast. Once you order your food in the iPad, you can expect to get your first dished within 2-3 minutes (and that is on a Saturday night). Any sushi with avocado is awesome. I'm telling you, their avocados are so fresh and creamy. Their udon soups & tempura dishes are amazing too! I will say, we tend to avoid ordering their meat dishes because they give you a massive portion. I wish they didn't give so much (because you have to finish it, or you pay for the leftovers) and I'd rather not fill up on one dish. Also, their drinking water tastes like room temperature tap water...no ice. We usually stick to their sushi and soups. Great quality!

Food was ok... we did get everything we ordered. The rolls were not tight and most would break apart upon handling. The service was not good.... very unattentive and not friendly. Restaurant is in a plaza and has private parking. Big place with modern decor.

I really enjoy the sushi at this restaurant. I think I have found my new regular AYCE spot. It is similar to many All-You-Can-Eat locations: order on an iPad, food comes sporadically, refills seem to be by request only, but the food is tasty. In particular, the rolls are really yummy. The cooked food is also quite decent as well. The service is a mixture of prompt and lacking. When the food is ready, is comes out quite quickly after ordering, but trying to get the attention of the staff to request more ginger or a water top up, is challenging to say the least. The most notable irritant about this location is the door chime. It's a motion sensor, so if someone is standing close to the front door, the bells goes off over and over again, and it's loud! Overall, I will go back - partially because it's the better of the AYCE choices I have tried in Ottawa so far, but also because I legitimately enjoyed the food and it was a reasonable price as thee things go. Relatively decent location on Bank street too. If the waiters were slightly more attentive, I would be really pleased with the restaurant.

Never going back there again. Pros: the restaurant's cleaniness was decent. Cons: Limited selection for lunch, none of the fish were fresh, they were stingy on their fish in the rolls we ordered for a la cart, and the service was really unpleasant.

Assorted sushi.

The quality of AYCE sushi places are usually never on par with a la cart places. This restaurant is no exception. That being said, for an AYCE place... The good: - beef enoki mushroom rolls - salmon belly The bad: - beef cubes- dry, flavorless - soft shell crab barely any crab with a crab stick? - duck roll- dry and gamey tasting The funny: - fish tacos- diced raw fish smothered in mayo on a pringle chip? lol. Nonetheless it could have had potential if the fish didn't soggy the chip. The extra star is for their iPad ordering system. It's neat, but wouldn't be the reason I'd return. ---- Update: So I have been back. This place was promising at first, but for me its sadly fizzled. Instead of enhancing the dinning experience, their novel iPad ordering system has enabled the staff to distance itself from its patrons. The experience was transactional and felt cold and hard like the uncooked rice they used in their sushi.

Sweet and sour soup

For an All You Can Eat, Sushi Ten is a solid four stars. This restaurant follows the trend of iPad ordering. The menu is fairly straightforward and there were problems with missing orders. Service was fast and surprisingly quick. There are always waiters walking by who you can flag down. They are also very quick to pick up empty plates. Food wise, the sashimi was pretty fresh tasting. There were no semi frozen fish served here. The miso soup wasn't too salty like at some other places. The sweet and sour soup is too sweet. The edamame beans were nice and firm and not mushy. The maki rolls were pretty tasty too. Of all the rolls, the Futomaki roll wasn't great. The grilled and fried appetizers came out piping hot - the enoki beef rolls and bacon-wrapped asparagus. The restaurant is clean, including the bathrooms. All in all, a welcome addition to the Ottawa AYCE seen.

Yum!!

It was our first-time trying it because the original restaurant we wanted to go to on Somerset was closed, but we were definitely not let down. They open at 11:30 on the weekend and we were a bit early but the staff was super friendly and accommodating- letting us sit down, browse the menu and even place our order before they "officially" opened. Out of all the dine-in korean restaurants we've tried so far in Ottawa (which I know is quite limited and most aren't authentic- but that's not to say they aren't good): Alirang, Maht, Daldongnae, etc. This is definitely top tier AND we will be coming back. As a small business, they are generous with their refillable complimentary side dishes (which is so yum), the flavour HITS, and the service is so good and welcoming. They kept checking in with us, turned down the volume to the TV that we were sitting under, and kept refilling our tea. inside the restaurant is also quite spacious and has comfortable seating arrangements. The restaurant is clean and tidy, which made the experience even more pleasant. Service was attentive, though with only a few tables it's hard to fully judge. Still, everything we needed was taken care of. The food was fresh, portions were generous, and prices felt fair. I especially appreciated that their pancake wasn't overly oily like you often find elsewhere. Dishes leaned on the milder side which made it easy to enjoy everything. The kimchi was a little salty, but the pickled radish was a nice balance. Big plus: they serve Asahi draft, which you don't see everywhere. One small miss was the sundubu being accidentally left off our order, but no big deal, just an excuse to come back and try it next time along with the Kalbi. Seating was comfortable, and I loved the individual wireless table lamps at each table which added a nice touch. Overall, a great first experience and I would definitely return to explore more of the menu.

The tteokbokki or rice cakes were good. The texture was perfectly chewy and the sauce was spicy and sweet. However, for the price, I found the portion to be a bit stingy. The bowl looks large but there isn't much in it, and considering rice cakes aren't that expensive I'm surprised they gave so little. The chicken drumsticks were tasty, but a tad dry. Not sure if it's because they slit it open at various places to let it cook faster. It didn't have the same type of coating as other Korean fried chicken I tried either. Overall, service is attentive and food is good. However, I think I have other places that I prefer for Korean fried chicken in Ottawa.

Ordered an Asahi Super Dry and an order of Beoseot Bulgogi. The beer was super cold, and the Bulgogi came sizzling hot (with a cup of rice and three side bowls) side bowls were toasted sesame flavoured bean sprouts, sweet sauce on turnip, and kimchi). The Bulgogi was not as flavourful as I've had at other establishments. But otherwise it enjoyed. Servers are not very personable. No greeting, just ask how many, seat me in a booth with menu and a slip of paper to write my choice on. 20 minutes later had to wave at them to comeback to take the slip. Btw, at the Merrivale location don't take the first booth, the door is inches behind your bench and everytime the door opens you are blasted with cold air. One other interesting thing to note. My bill didn't seem to be correct. I noticed it was a little higher than I expected, but I tipped 20% and left. I was only given the transaction record. The bulgogi on their menu is $15.95 (as per website), I am pretty sure the beer was $7.95. That totals $23.90. But my bill was $34.92 before tip. $41.90 after tip. So, something happened. But I guess it's my fault for not bringing it up while there.

The food was good, with enough quantity to eat and take home as leftovers. We were a party of nine taking the regular (not BBQ), so they put two tables together for us. Our only complaint about that was that the tables were not the same height. The amenities (restrooms) were not very pleasant, as the trash cans looked as if they have not been emptied in a month (they were overflowing), and there was toiled paper on the floor. The side dishes were also quite good! My mandu were slightly burnt/over fried but the delicious and unique filling paired with the good sauce provided made it fine. My only issue is that when I try and return, craving their hearty kimchi stew on a cold day, their hours don't match what's posted online or on the paper outside their restaurant? For example, there's a paper sign on the door that says they take a break from x-3pm , on a day I was reallly looking forward to the comforting stew and warm vibes. I check at 3pm and their OPEN sign is off, alright maybe they need a minute or 2, so I do some rounds and pass by it a few times with it still being closed, I go back home and come back around 4:30 which is well past their reopening time and it's still closed. I gave up cause I was starving and went elsewhere. If this could be updated or made more clear then this review would be much higher. I love the food and it's genuinely authentic Korean food but it's frustrating having plans to go for lunch or even an early dinner and having them squashed by an inconsistent hours schedule.
