We stopped here on the day after the grand opening. Interior is quite lovely, booths are comfy and would work well for a group of 4 to 8 people. Wait service and runners were great - we got everything we needed quickly and efficiently. My one complaint in this area: restaurant wasn't full - maybe 75% capacity - but we had to wait for them to clear and table. When we got there, the table was *wet* and the place settings were haphazardly positioned. Minor issue, but it will stick out for a portion of the population as a sloppy item. Turns out they use iPad Minis for their menu - which was kind of neat. Theory doesn't always bear out though. Even though it was only day 2, the iPad we were handed was filthy. You could feel bumps of food as you scrolled on the screen. It grossed me out just a little bit. (What can I say?) Investing in some screen appropriate cleaning clothes might be a great idea. As for the application itself - it was easy enough to use. (Note: I'm going into a technology chat now and it probably has nothing to do with the restaurant, but hopefully they've give the feedback to their supplier... skip to the end of this paragraph if you don't care.) The menu consists of some text choices down the left hand side. If you are on the ball, you'll try scrolling on the left menu. There are more choices further down, but it's not at all obvious on the screen. The rest of the display is pictures of the food. When you click on a picture it takes you to a slightly larger version of the same picture (same resolution too). There's lots of white space - I'm *ass*u*me*-ing that text can go in there to describe the food item. This would be very helpful on things like the Capital Roll, where you really can't tell from low resolution picture what's in the roll. If that white space doesn't accommodate text, it should. One other thought - we were provided with one iPad for two people. Not sure what we would have gotten if there were 4 of us. Even with 2 people, sharing the iPad didn't work. Hubby hogged it, fascinated by the use of the technology. I sat there bored. Really need one per person, or at least ask if more than one device is needed. Quite possible at this point that the software ordering system can only handle one device per table, but as a future development opportunity, more than one per table would be great. I liked the food - as far as all you can eat goes, it was good and fast. They could work a bit on the little dish of wasabi and 2 (literally 2) slices of ginger. The wasabi had clearly been plated earlier in the evening and was showing signs of drying out. I'd like a bit more ginger please. Most interesting food item: The "pizza" items. Tried one - loved the rice base, found the sauce too sweet... Glad I tried it, but probably won't order again. One is enough for two people to try as it's large relative to typical sushi items. Did the fried bananas. Maybe I was just to full to appreciate them, but I didn't. A bit too greasy. Beyond those two minor comments (more of a personal taste comment than complaint) everything else we tried was delicious! (And by the end of it, remembered why I avoid buffets - way too full!) Would I return: Yes Would I recommend: If you are in the Bank / Alta Vista area and want food, this is a good option. Note: I want to emphasize we were there on day 2 of opening. All restaurants struggle with little issues for the first few months, so while I'm giving them a three overall, they have the potential to be more than that. UPDATE: FEB, 2016 There is, unfortunately, a general trend with AYCE sushi places where they can start out well and then the service and quality starts to slip. Sometimes they can recover, sometimes not. After a visit last week to Ten (probably my fifth visit in total), I was seriously unimpressed where things were at. Service was seriously questionable with the server actually arguing with us over a particular issue and throughout the evening we were brought food we didn't order. Service, however, is never a strong suit in AYCE sushi places to begin with so I can cut them a little slack there. Where I can't cut them any slack is in the quality of the sushi and food items going downhill. To be blunt, nearly everything we had was particularly bad (sushi and sashimi did not taste fresh and most of the other dishes were bland) even though it was a packed Friday night. All in all, our party of four were seriously disappointed. Enough to say that I don't know if I would go back as I wouldn't want to run the risk of getting such a bad experience again. This is disappointing as there really aren't that many good AYCE sushi places in Ottawa. Rating changed from 4 to 2 stars. ------------ All you can eat sushi places in Ottawa always seem a bit of a compromise. They are (hopefully) at least one step up from grocery store sushi (sorry grocery store sushi fans!) but never quite the level you would get at a good Japanese/sushi restaurant. But at the same time, they are often a fraction of what it would cost to eat at a good sushi restaurant so, at least for me, I'm willing to put up with a bit less quality in order to get my sushi fix. Thankfully, I don't seem to have to compromise much by eating at Ten Sushi. FOOD - GREAT I'm a bit of a sashimi fan. It's the primary item I order and Ten Sushi didn't disappoint. They had all the staples plus some squid (no red tuna though) and the pieces were fresh and large. For the sushi, we found the sizes decent, without an abundance of rice (sushi with a lot of rice is a turn off for me), and everything tasted fresh and juicy. As such, the sashimi and sushi was a general hit though of course some items may suit some people more than others. For the non-sushi items, it was pretty much par for the course. Tempura was 'okay' being about as good as any AYCE place but not as good as a dedicated Japanese restaurant. The same goes for the other dishes we tried (sesame chicken, spare ribs, dumplings...). All in all, the food was at least as good or a bit better as any other AYCE sushi place I've tried (and I've tried a lot) so I'm happy in this regard. ORDERING - COULD USE IMPROVEMENT As seems to be the standard for AYCE sushi places, Ten Sushi also uses tablets for ordering. These seem to be a hit or miss affair for me and this time it was a bit of a miss. The software was slow and very buggy and when we were finally ready to order, the system just hanged and we had to wait for a server to fix it. SERVICE - GOOD AND QUICK Once our order went through though, food items started appearing very quickly. So quickly that it was apparent it wasn't made to order as the items must have already been prepared. This of course makes sense. As we moved away from the standard fair to some of the specialty rolls, service time took a little longer but it could also have just been busier at that time. All in all though service was good OTHER - SEATING On a Friday night, when we arrived around 6:30, there was a large amount of people waiting to be seated but the restaurant is actually larger than it looks. While we were told it would be about 20-30 minutes to be seated, we ended up only having to wait about 5-10 minutes. I have no idea if they take reservations. -- In conclusion, I have to say I liked my meal and I would definitely go back. I hope that they keep the same level of quality with the food as this is something that seems to suffer at a lot of other AYCE sushi places (good at the start and then within a year it nosedives to the point that you never go back) but only time will tell. Anyways, Ten Sushi is now part of my top two AYCE sushi places in Ottawa. read more

First time here tonight. Pretty impressed. Lots of parking. Indoor of the restaurant is very tastefully decorated. Lots and lots of places to sit. The building is quite large. You make your order on an iPad mini which I thought was pretty cool. Not sure about the hygiene issue with this but I tried not to think about it. Food was great. It was all fresh and well cooked. Fish was tasty and fresh. Service was good. Staff were all very friendly. The reason why I am giving it 4/5 stars is because we went in around 8:45. Last call is at 9:30. They close at 10:00. They literally cleaned all the tables around us and then were standing around our table waiting to clean it. It made us feel really awkward and we got up and left without finishing our dessert. The absolute worst of the worst experience I've ever had in my entire life. This is not authentic Japanese by ANY means, any creature with a pulse should be able to recognize this fact. The whole experience was just disgusting and I gagged with every bite. 1. The tables smelt disgusting. I'm assuming they use an old, unwashed rag to wash every table which is extremely unsanitary and the smell is so off-putting it made us lose our appetite. 2. They use the term "Tuna" interchangeably with "White Tuna" AKA butter fish. RED TUNA IS NOT BUTTER FISH. I ordered a spicy tuna roll (photo showed a picture of a spicy RED tuna roll), and they gave me some roll filled with salty crispies and white tuna. When I asked for the bill, the waitress was going to charge me for the leftover pieces of the roll. I explained the situation of how they tried to trick customers by using butter fish instead of red tuna, and she quickly retreated and let me off the hook. I'm cringing at the fact that they tried to fool me, and the fact that they tried to charge me for it too is outrageous. Be aware people! 3. Parking. Given the absolute crap quality of the food and service of this restaurant, why it's still so busy is beyond me. It took 20 minutes to find a spot, and another 30-35 minutes in line. MY MIND EXPLODES. WHY IS THIS PLACE SO BUSY. There are probably better AYCE places in Ottawa, right? No? Well, shit. 4. The sushi. The slices of fish were skimpy and paper thin. The fish didn't even come close to covering the massive rice balls that they try to feed customers in a desperate attempt to get them full whilst staying in business. It was laughable and disgusting. Sushi rice was HOT (so it basically cooked the thin slice of raw fish on top) and falling apart. In conclusion.... growing up, my parents always told me to stay away from cigarettes and I did. Updated to reflect my most recent experience: I won't be going back (at least for a while), as the food quality was pretty bad. I was disappointed with the amount of rice vinegar on all the sushi (It was overpowering), the shrimp tempura had an odd taste, and some of the salmon cuts were quite awful to be honest. I'm disappointed that things have gone downhill, as this restaurant had good quality standards when it first opened. I wanted to start off with that I have been to Sushi Ten 8 times. I have really enjoyed the food and the service up to today's visit. I have left a standard 5$ tip on a 14$ bill because the service is excellent. Today, I left 4 pieces of sushi on my plate. The manager came up to my table with the bill and said she was going to charge me for the 4 extra pieces. She then proceeded to tell me if I eat one more I won't have to pay extra. I told her she was welcome to bill me for the extra 4 pieces of sushi and I was not going to return to this establishment. She relented on charging me extra and finally asked me why I did not eat the last 4 pieces. I told her I just don't like the pieces with the tail left on them. Needless to say, I would recommend caution when eating here. I have eaten at numerous all you can eat sushi restaurants here in Ottawa and I have never been approached by a manager and told to finish the last few pieces or they will charge me for the roll. I for one will not be returning to this restaurant with the amount of choice we have in Ottawa. read more

I'm happy there's finally an AYCE sushi in this area, the closest ones are both 168 sushi (Merivale and St-Laurent) and they aren't that great so... Ten Sushi is in a great location, albeit the parking lot is definitely too small. The service is good, I've been here twice and even with a group of 8-10, we didn't have to wait more than 10 minutes to be seated on a Saturday night around 7pm. The waiter was often close by to take plates away and refill water glasses. I'm not a fan of the new trend with iPad ordering, it seems items get lost in the orders. When we tried to order 30 pieces of salmon sashimi, we only received 20 pieces, twice. Maybe they have a maximum per order? It wasn't clear. The food was great though, no complains here. The chicken balls ACTUALLY taste like real chicken, unlike all the other places where it feels like you're just eating fat and fried batter. All the sushi I had was delicious, the orders came in at a decent rate. They also have dim sum and even oysters of a decent size! I would return because it was good service, the food was good and the price is decent. The location is also best for me since I live in the area. Terrible service, mediocre food. We didn't do the buffet, ordered a la carte. We got all our food and never got steamed rice. Asked a server for 1 steamed rice instead of the original 2 we ordered. She came back and asked if we got it and I said no, but forget it we don't need it now because we were done all our food. Our steamed rice came shortly after. Charged for 2 steamed rice. Had a hard time flagging down servers. Put my arm in the air for nearly a minute, and still had to get up to talk to someone. This is my go-to sushi restaurant for delivery. I have ordered from Ten Sushi 7 times so far, and each time it has been delicious! I always order the Black Snow roll (salmon, avocado, rice paper), Green dragon and one of the maki sets, along with miso soup, Tempura vegetables and 12 pieces of salmon sashimi. I've visited a few sushi buffets around Ottawa, but Ten Sushi is my favorite. It helps that its nice and new.. aka CLEAN. The staff are busy but always on top of making sure you are seated and fed. The Ipad menus are pretty cool and easy to use. This place also got the mom-from-the-country stamp of approval. After our favourite sushi joint closed, we decided to try this new place. It was wonderful. There is plenty of seating, including booths. The menu is displayed on iPads which is pretty handy. You send the order to the kitchen directly. The wait staff is friendly and speaks French. The food was fast in coming and delicious at that. I would give this restaurant three stars, as I went in with high expectations and came out sorely disappointed. The dynamite roll we ordered had undercooked shrimp, the staff were delayed in responding to our orders (compared to a similar AYCE at another sushi restaurant, figured I'd throw in a frame of reference), they use lettuce in a few of their rolls as a filler (such as the black snow roll, it's usually my favourite roll but the lettuce ruined it), and to top it all off the bill was extremely pricey compared to other AYCE in Ottawa. ($85 for 3 people). If they used less filler in their rolls, and if the staff didn't have to be hunted down to provide tea/ginger, then it would be a 4-star restaurant. read more

I am updating my review because I went back here again with coworkers for lunch and it was a completely different experience than last time. The food was still good but our food took forever to come out so sometimes we ordered a second one convinced we hadn't ordered it and in the end they brought food like 45 minutes after we had ordered it. They have also changed it so the all you can eat no longer includes sodas, it only included water or tea to drink. It took them forever to clear off our table and we waited 20 minutes for the ice cream we ordered before finally just getting up and leaving because we couldn't wait any longer. I am a visitor to Ottaw and went to this restaurant with my two children and 2 friends that live in Ottawa. Just reading the reviews, it looks like our experience was pretty average for them. We had no wait to sit, or to order, but the waitress had a lot of difficulty understanding what we wanted. My kids and I ordered pop, it was literally two minutes of her trying to explain that the pop comes in a can. I was to blame for not understanding, but it seemed an odd thing to make a stand on. My son does not eat sushi, so we order steak and chicken skewers usually for him. His steak was fine, if a little tough, but his chicken was literally a frozen chicken burger, over cooked and tough. He didn't finish it (which became a problem later) Like so many others on here, they brought the wrong food to our table. We told them we didn't order it, and it took two waitresses getting very confused to finally be able to return the one dish. We just ended up keeping the other one, but didn't eat it (again, this is an issue later). At no time were we offered a second round of drinks and only two people at a table of five were given water. Not a huge deal, so we didn't make a fuss, but in the grand scheme of things, it was just another nail in the coffin. The food was fine if a little slow in coming. My daughter is a huge calimari fan and ordered some. It came with an odd ginger sauce directly on it. She does NOT like ginger. The serving was literally three pieces of calamari, very small, so she tried it and couldn't finish it. By the time we were done, there were a couple of plates with small portions of food left. I would be the first to admit if we had left large amount, but we absolutely did not. And one of the dishes wasn't even ours. As she was finally clearing plates away, the waitress advised that she would be charging us for the left over food. My friend argued that it was next to nothing, but the language barrier was so frustrating that he finally gave up. When the bill came, they advised at that time that they don't take debit, only cash or credit card. It was just the topper to a really poor experience. This is a pretty decent place all around. I came here for dinner a while ago with a medium-sized group and had the all-you-can-eat menu for dinner. It runs about 25 bucks per person, so keep that in mind in terms of how much one wants to eat and how much one wants to spend. Also, like many all you can eat menus, if you leave significant amounts of food left over, you have to pay an a la carte price for the leftovers, so order as you go rather than making a monster order and forcing yourself to overeat and suffer later on. We had a few small plates delivered to us which we had not ordered, so we had to locate a person and send it back lest we had to pay for it later on. The decor is nice enough and the seating was pretty comfortable. The bathrooms were decorated well, but were NOT clean-- in fact, they were in a deplorable, unsanitary state when I went in and I had to go stall to stall to find something even remotely suitable. They need to be more vigilant about maintaining their restrooms when there are so many people coming in and out. It's a large establishment and was fairly crowded when we arrived, but it didn't cause any slow down of our food coming in. I liked the ability to order everything wirelessly through tablets, which bypassed the annoyance of trying to get servers attention, especially in such a large place. I mostly ate sushi rolls, miso soup, and a few tempura items such as the scallops and shrimp. All was delicious. I sampled someone else's tofu stir fry and didn't like their tofu texture at all. It definitely could have been better. I finished off with some of their ice cream, which was ok, but not particularly striking as I've had green tea and red bean flavored desserts before which I found more flavorful. My friends ate a lot more of the Chinese fried fare, which they declared to be good, though most of them suffered from horrible heartburn the next day. Be wary in any place when you overeat-- if it's fried or oily, you may pay for it in the evening! The service was friendly and prompt. Payment is in cash, but they have an in-house ATM to help you with that issue as well. So, if you can manage to control yourself and not destroy your intestinal system when you go there, I do recommend this place if you want something with a very large variety of foods (the menu is extremely extensive) or feel like having small samples of a variety of Asian-style cuisines. read more

A waitress walked by and signaled us to take a seat, (she did walk us to our table) but where is the hostess? Tables, seats, booths all brand new, modern with dark black and brown tones, very chic. An oversized chandelier hung in the back close to the chief's area, the bar to the opposite side looked modern and clean. Overall, the Japanese mask art and cheery blossom window stained glass was appealing to the eye. We were handed iPads (as menus) and left with ZERO explanation. Good thing we are both computer savvy. Elderly or other folks may not appreciate being left with technology that is not always easy to navigate through. Mind you the pictures of the food on the iPad was fun to look through. It's ALL YOU CAN EAT which is good and you select the quantity of each item. Once you choose your items you have the option of selecting MY ORDER and you can look at a list of what you ordered. Service was slow. Once we did get our food. Four Waitresses' came to our table with food we did not order. I that point I noticed the tables had no number and we did not have a fixed waitress. The quality and quantity of food of: Sushi, Soup, Stir Fry, Deep Fried Veggies, Spring Rolls was very good in standard. The plate presentation was Sharpe and Upscale, enjoyed the way they cut cucumber like little flowers. FOOD TASTE: Flavorful, Fresh, Authentic FOOD CON: Some of the Sushi rolls were not tight; they were loose and fell when you took them BEST DISH: Udon Noodles with mixed Vegetables [extremely flavorful] IS GOOD SUSHI? Ate at Ten Sushi on a Saturday night with my daughter and her boyfriend. we arrived early around 6 and the restaurant was extremely busy. Asked to have seat in a row of chairs by the cash and seated shortly thereafter. Once you were away from the hustle bustle of the entrance and in a booth it was certainly more calming as they are high back booths. You would not want to be seated in the area just by the entrance , round tables seating approx 8 guests each. We chose the all you can eat option, $23, including soft drinks. I also had a large hot sake, $9 and draft beer was $7. The choice of items was large and very good. Ordering is completed via vour tables iPad and orders arrived very quickly. We were there almost 2 hours and had a wonderful meal. I would certainly return or recommend this restaurant :) read more

Service here isn't good nor is the attitude of the employees. Food is nothing special and they will charge you for any measly amount of food that you don't eat even if it's undercooked or flavorless. Service is typical of any all-you-can-eat sushi place. Servers don't always speak fluent English, but that's compensated by the iPad ordering service. Sushi is average for AYCE and the items were missing from our order, as per the norm for these places. I have to give ONE star based on the service alone. The food was fine, will get to that later... We got there at 2:30pm and their menu says lunch till 3:30. We were seated at 3 and at 3:30 the server says we can not order more food as it is dinner service then. We tried to explain that we just got here and had only placed one order and usually, even if I come at 315pm they let me eat and order till 4pm or 430 even. But this time, the server comes back and takes our ipad and also takes the ipads of everyone and they are trying to get everyone to pay and leave by 3:30. I managed to get in one more order around 325 and figured I would just get a bunch of items without sauces and take them with me. -the tempura items and dumplings travel well Now onto the food. They changed the vegetable dumplings-now they have corn and peas in them and almost none. The whole thing is dough. Tempura is good, but they forgot the sauces for that. Sushi-had to ask many times for ginger, they completely forgot. The shrimp for the tempura still has the veins in it "shrimp guts", same for the shrimp wontons. My green tea icecream was a bit freezer-burned and had ice crystals in it. I still like the food here, but my last visit was not impressed with the service. -also if you want no raw onions, no mayo or no sauce on something they do not know how to do that here and I would say go somewhere else for sushi. read more

Pro tip: If you're hungry at lunch, opt for the dinner buffet instead which allows you to get their fresh and nicely thick sashimi. The place is great for all you can eat and even better than many a la carte sushi places. Price is not bad at around 33 dollars a person after tip and tax for dinner. They hand out iPad minis to order on and while the system can be a bit slow the food came at a reasonable speed. read more

Went there with my family of 4. The food was great for the price, service was pretty good and quick. The only downside is, the food does not feel fresh. However, i would highly recommend it. read more
