I had dinner at Maht with my husband and my mom, and overall it was good. We started with their seafood pancake ($12.95). I got the Bulgogi Maht Bowl ($14.95), my husband got the Ginger Chicken Sizzling Plate ($16.95), and my mom got the Beef Bulgogi Sizzling Plate ($17.95). The banchan was pretty minimal, it consisted of only kimchi, and a dish with pickled cabbage, onions and cucumbers. The pickled veggies were good, I liked that the cabbage was very crunchy. The kimchi was not too spicy nor too pungent, so I appreciated that, lol. I would have liked a greater variety of banchan. The seafood pancake had lots of things in it compared to batter, which was great, as I don't like Korean pancakes that are mostly batter. It had shrimp and squid, as well as white onions and green onions. It wasn't too oily, which I liked. However, it wasn't all that flavourful either. I enjoyed my Bulgogi Maht Bowl. It was similar to a Bibimbap. I liked that the rice was purple rice, instead of the usual white rice. The bowl also contained cooked bean sprouts, cabbage, carrots, and white onions, and raw arugula, and of course beef bulgogi. I liked that the beef was lean, plentiful and in large pieces. The vegetables were good, but I would have liked some other toppings like zucchini and mushrooms, and maybe a fried egg ;) I found that the variety of toppings was a bit lacking and the bowl was not as flavourful. I was not given any hot sauce. I did manage to give it a bit of a spicy kick by mixing in some kimchi though ;) Anyway, I still enjoyed my meal. My mom's Beef Bulgogi Sizzling Plate had beef bulgogi, cabbage, onions, carrots and was topped with enoki mushrooms. It came with a bowl of purple rice. She enjoyed it. My husband's Ginger Chicken Sizzling Plate had cabbage, white onions, green onions, carrots, and was also topped with enoki mushrooms. It also came with purple rice. He liked his meal. I had a taste and it was good. It had a mild ginger flavour. I liked that the meat was lean and not all fatty nor gristley. We requested no sesame seeds in our food and that was not a problem at all. Service was competent and attentive. The restaurant looks clean. It is small though, only seats 16 people. They have been open about 2 months. The restaurant is where Wang's Noodle House used to be. The space has been nicely renovated. The restaurant is in Chinatown, so street parking only.

Little Korean restaurant that offers different Korean dishes other than Korean bbq. We were just visiting Ottawa from Calgary and invited a friend to dine with us here. The atmosphere was very family friendly and the service was great. The food cam rout quickly and the portion sizes are large. We truly enjoyed every dish - my favorite being the ddakjjim(chicken stew with noodles) and their pajeon(seafood pancake). Most of the dishes we ordered were spicy, which I enjoyed, but if you or your group would like a less spicy experience - just make sure to let the servers know. They are very accomodating and will make sure your not breathing fire after a couple of spoonfuls. Would definitely come back when we are in Ottawa and craving Korean food. And definitely recommend this restaurant to friends and family.

It was our first-time trying it because the original restaurant we wanted to go to on Somerset was closed, but we were definitely not let down. They open at 11:30 on the weekend and we were a bit early but the staff was super friendly and accommodating- letting us sit down, browse the menu and even place our order before they "officially" opened. Out of all the dine-in korean restaurants we've tried so far in Ottawa (which I know is quite limited and most aren't authentic- but that's not to say they aren't good): Alirang, Maht, Daldongnae, etc. This is definitely top tier AND we will be coming back. As a small business, they are generous with their refillable complimentary side dishes (which is so yum), the flavour HITS, and the service is so good and welcoming. They kept checking in with us, turned down the volume to the TV that we were sitting under, and kept refilling our tea. inside the restaurant is also quite spacious and has comfortable seating arrangements. But we were sitting next to the AC which can be quite breezy!

The restaurant is clean and tidy, which made the experience even more pleasant. Service was attentive, though with only a few tables it's hard to fully judge. Still, everything we needed was taken care of. The food was fresh, portions were generous, and prices felt fair. I especially appreciated that their pancake wasn't overly oily like you often find elsewhere. Dishes leaned on the milder side which made it easy to enjoy everything. The kimchi was a little salty, but the pickled radish was a nice balance. Big plus: they serve Asahi draft, which you don't see everywhere. One small miss was the sundubu being accidentally left off our order, but no big deal, just an excuse to come back and try it next time along with the Kalbi. Seating was comfortable, and I loved the individual wireless table lamps at each table which added a nice touch. Overall, a great first experience and I would definitely return to explore more of the menu.

The tteokbokki or rice cakes were good. The texture was perfectly chewy and the sauce was spicy and sweet. However, for the price, I found the portion to be a bit stingy. The bowl looks large but there isn't much in it, and considering rice cakes aren't that expensive I'm surprised they gave so little. The chicken drumsticks were tasty, but a tad dry. Not sure if it's because they slit it open at various places to let it cook faster. It didn't have the same type of coating as other Korean fried chicken I tried either. Overall, service is attentive and food is good. However, I think I have other places that I prefer for Korean fried chicken in Ottawa.

Ordered an Asahi Super Dry and an order of Beoseot Bulgogi. The beer was super cold, and the Bulgogi came sizzling hot (with a cup of rice and three side bowls) side bowls were toasted sesame flavoured bean sprouts, sweet sauce on turnip, and kimchi). The Bulgogi was not as flavourful as I've had at other establishments. But otherwise it enjoyed. Servers are not very personable. No greeting, just ask how many, seat me in a booth with menu and a slip of paper to write my choice on. 20 minutes later had to wave at them to comeback to take the slip. Btw, at the Merrivale location don't take the first booth, the door is inches behind your bench and everytime the door opens you are blasted with cold air. One other interesting thing to note. My bill didn't seem to be correct. I noticed it was a little higher than I expected, but I tipped 20% and left. I was only given the transaction record. The bulgogi on their menu is $15.95 (as per website), I am pretty sure the beer was $7.95. That totals $23.90. But my bill was $34.92 before tip. $41.90 after tip. So, something happened. But I guess it's my fault for not bringing it up while there.

The food was good, with enough quantity to eat and take home as leftovers. We were a party of nine taking the regular (not BBQ), so they put two tables together for us. Our only complaint about that was that the tables were not the same height. The amenities (restrooms) were not very pleasant, as the trash cans looked as if they have not been emptied in a month (they were overflowing), and there was toiled paper on the floor. In addition, the floor did not look very clean. The side dishes were also quite good! My mandu were slightly burnt/over fried but the delicious and unique filling paired with the good sauce provided made it fine. My only issue is that when I try and return, craving their hearty kimchi stew on a cold day, their hours don't match what's posted online or on the paper outside their restaurant? For example, there's a paper sign on the door that says they take a break from x-3pm , on a day I was reallly looking forward to the comforting stew and warm vibes. I check at 3pm and their OPEN sign is off, alright maybe they need a minute or 2, so I do some rounds and pass by it a few times with it still being closed, I go back home and come back around 4:30 which is well past their reopening time and it's still closed. I gave up cause I was starving and went elsewhere. If this could be updated or made more clear then this review would be much higher. I love the food and it's genuinely authentic Korean food but it's frustrating having plans to go for lunch or even an early dinner and having them squashed by an inconsistent hours schedule.
