I come here all the time since it's a close and convenient spot from my place. It's a family owned restaurant where you order and pay first at the counter and then help yourself to water/tea/utensils and sit down at a table. They will call you or bring your food out once ready. I can't say the pork bone soup is as good as the ones in Toronto but it's pretty decent and convenient for me. I've also tried the seafood pancake and spicy rice cakes and both were yummy. I noticed they have jam pong (spicy seafood noodles) and I would love to try that next!! When I go for dinner on week nights, I feel like it has been consistently busy-ish but not so busy that we can't get a table. You can also grab take out here. I absolutely love this place. It is one of the few places in the city that still has a really family restaurant vibe, and that everything is made by your parents. The prices for all the food is a bit more higher priced, but they have nice big portions. Would definitely suggest the Dolsot Bibimbop if you like having meat and a nice crisp fried egg! I haven't dined in (because of covid) but they have decent take out and delivery options. This is probably my favorite korean restaurant on Bank St! You order at the front and pay for your food before finding a table. The water and tea is also self-service, as are the side dishes of sweet potato, kimchi and bean sprouts (just bring the empty plate to the front counter). Had the spicy pork bone stew (which had dumplings, noodles, cabbage and tofu inside as well) that was meant to be shared between 2-3 and couldn't even finish it all! Visiting Ottawa and was craving for Korean and had high expectations for a four star place. I guess it's only from under 5 reviews. Located near some restaurants, gas station, and connected to a grocery store which I think is owned by same owner? We couldn't find the entrance and realized it's the same entrance as the grocery store, interesting. There is around 10 tables or so and another sectioned off ish room with built in Korean BBQ tables. When we were there, 2-4 tables/parties were there for dinner. We planned on going to a few places back to back for dinner and got the bibimbap in stone bowl 11.95 and the chicken hot pot ddak galbi 38.95 which was the new item that was the most expensive on hot pot, says that it serves 2-3. Pot is large but not too deep, look can be deceiving sometimes! Ha it came with 2 rice. The 3 sides were good, something I always look for trying at all Korean places! One of our friend never had Korean before and was amazed at this hot pot idea. What is funny is that they brought it out the propane burner and the everything in the pot was cold! We waited for 10 minutes but it was didn't even reach boiling temperature! We were hungry and just staring at the thing for it to cook! I wish it was cooked and then brought out or at least with the soup and chicken being cooked! It was all in the pot in raw form, raw chicken, vegetables etc. as much as we wanted to eat it, patience is not our friend when we are hungry! Since it's chicken, it took a while to cook too. Dolsot Café is just a little hole in the wall with sticky tables but it's so worth it! It's right next door to the Arum Market and shares the same entrance. Whenever I'm craving Korean, this Dolsot Café is where I go. It is consistent, quick and tasty. I almost always take the yukgaejang or the sangseunjang. Everything always come with the sticky rice and a small plate of three banchan (Korean side dishes, most often pickles). The banchans are the one criticism I would have about this place. Although they make the city's best kimchi, they don't give out nearly enough of it and neither do they give enough of their other two banchans. They also don't switch them around often enough. You always get kimchi and then almost always caramelized potatoes and kongnamul muchim, but sometimes you get oi muchim. I wish they would served kaktugi. read more

I got off from the ottawa terminal and was super hungry. So i came across this korean restaurant located right next to the gas station. I ordered a soon-dou-bu jigae with seafood for $12.95, but was disappointed by the little amount of seafood there was compared to tofu. It tasted ok. Great little Korean care. Reasonably priced and still very much open! We ordered the giant hot bowl of dduk-bak-ki which was filled to the brim with rice cakes, ramen, dumplings, kimchi and more! I would have liked to see more than 2 dumplings but for the price it was good. Super tasty and even though the restaurant was full the wait wasn't too long. Food 4/5 - So far, majority of the time, the food was enjoyable! Everything is served hot, spicy and GOOD. The food presentation is beautiful and appetizing. I think they do a good job at it. Although, I find the menu a bit lacking. But it's just me who can't choose much from their menu. Service 5/5 - I have no complaints so far! They're very patient and assisting towards to us. They always check up on us whatever may need. Location 4/5 - It's accessible. We're able to find parking spaces nearby. Probably because we usually go there on weekdays. I write this with a heavy heart because I do not want to detract from anyone's business or ability to make a living but I would be doing a disservice if I did not share the most uncomfortable and unappetizing experience to date. The server was not focused and quite scattered and the word sorry was said so often that I began to believe it was the only word she knew. Took her about 10 minutes to take our orders after dropping off menus. Rushed us to decide and was so fast to get away that she did not take our drink order. I counted 5 tables and 2 servers and I did this job for 14 years so no, I am not a bitch to servers. I finally flagged her down to ask for drinks and she took our orders. I asked for a Coke Zero and got Diet Coke but whatever. The bbq arrived about 25 minutes after the order was taken and it was missing miso soup which doesn't come with it anymore, though nothing was stated in the menu. Our bbq burnt out twice, no sides (that came 10 minutes later) and there were only three choices, the sweet potato, kimchi and seaweed salad. It was so bad I recommend driving to Toronto and pick any Korean joint and skip this place. Horrible food and service. The best thing about this place was the poor guy who worked in the kitchen who was forced to ring us through at the cash. Great sense of humour and had a personality. Never again and I will be telling everyone I know not to waste your time and money. Horrible...I have never shut down at a restaurant because I was so shocked and disappointed at the whole experience. I will say this, there was another table of Korean speaking women where I noticed were making our server nervous, maybe that had something to do with her unfocused behaviour and lack of warmth. In the city along with some friends for a short rotation. Since Thursday is the day that all the museums offer free entry in the evenings, we decided to make a plan to visit them. We ended up seeing the Nature Museum, which was interesting, and then were very hungry after. This place is conveniently located close to the museum. Nice atmosphere inside, the staff is super nice. They have a nice menu with soups, hot pots for sharing and entrees. We got a combination of the bulgogi mushroom hot pot as well as spicy chicken entrée. I love this place. It's one of the two Korean restaurants in Ottawa worth eating at - other one is Alirang. My favourite dish is the gamjatang and my wife's the kimchi soup. It's a family run business, all cooked from scratch, with the best kimchi in town to nibble on while you eat. If you want to sample authentic Korean food at an extremely decent price, then this is the pace for you. read more

It's a quaint little place that is very nicely decorated. It was very busy from the moment we walked in to when we walked out. The staff was very friendly, and tried their best to serve everyone to the best of their ability. However, we had to wait quite a while for our appetizer to arrive, and then the main course. I suspect that they were understaffed, but it greatly affected the waiting time of their service. The food looked and tasted really good once it arrived, but not for its price - especially compared to other Korean restaurants in Ottawa. We also only got one set of side dishes, whereas other Korean restaurants would serve us one set per person, or would make the side dishes considerably larger in portions. I got the Bulgogi entrée, and my friends got the Bbimbap and the Kal Bi along with Gim-Bap for appetizers. Waited a very long time at the door to be seated and the guy at the counter wouldn't even look up. After waiting for five min we were finally told to seat ourselves so we did. Then another table comes after us and he goes to take their order first. We flag him and he doesn't bother coming even though he saw us. So I went to the counter to order and the woman at the counter was like sorry this is takeout only. After finally ordering and the food came, the server never came to our table once to check on us. I don't even know how to flag them down at this point because they either ignore you or just don't look up. Terrible service. Also the food was very sub par. The tang soo yok we got was like half the size of other places, but it still costed the market price of ~16$ and it wasn't even crispy at all...I understand it gets soggy with the sauce a bit but this is not even a hint of crispy. They may as well not fry it lol. Overall, food court quality food and service for the price of restaurants. I wouldn't bother going back. read more
