I've been here twice now. The first time with friends and the second with family. Overall, it was a fun experience to try new food, but not something we'd likely go back for. In my opinion, not worth price for pork dishes. The feeling was mutual with friends and family.
However, I have to comment on our second experience here as it was probably one of the worse dining experience we've had in a long time.
We were a group of 9. They did mention that for large groups, they add a mandatory 15% tip, which is fair. We told them we were celebrating a birthday. We felt as though we were barely checked on throughout the meal. They piled our dishes and utensils in the middle, not even giving us enough for everyone. They didn't clear the empties, when we could have used the extra table space.
At the end of the meal, my mom lit the candle on our cake, we sang, other dining customers joined in. One of the servers then told us we weren't allowed outside foods and if he had saw the cake earlier, would have asked us to leave. I guess he must have felt bad because my 3 and 5 year olds were very disappointed they couldn't have their birthday cake. So he provided us with a few plates (not enough for everyone) and refused to give us any utensils. So we were cutting the cake with the end of a chopstick and wiping down whatever spoon or forks we had laying around on the table. They could have just told us they'd charge a cake fee for extra dishes, which we have experienced at other restaurants and it would have been fine. We always tip appropriately to reflect the extra dishes/work with having an extra cake. The response and attitude we got back from one particular server ruined the entire experience.
When the bill came (we had spent close to $200), instead of including the 15% tip like they said they would, they stood over my mom's shoulder and told her which button she had to press at a minimum, almost hinting that she should be tipping more. It was just an overall awful experience over a silly birthday cake. If you're going to institute a mandatory tip for large groups, which is absolutely fair to do, make sure the service and attitudes of your servers reflect this. read more
