Going here was a major disappointment for the both of us. I could not imagine how food could get any worse than this. Maybe the prices were a warning sign as the AYCE buffet option was only $23.99 per person. I did not enjoy a single food item despite the large variety of dishes they had. I was excited when I saw the Pho bar but was met with disappointment when I tasted the broth that did not even come close to the real Pho I usually ate at restaurants. Most of the buffet items were cold and items that seemed crispy were stale. Some of the meats I tried were extremely chewy. They had roast beef but it was pretty dry. We were here with a sightseeing tour from Montreal. The lunch price was 14$ including a coffee. 16$ with an extra soft drink. The food was ok. I had a freshly made Thai soup which was zesty and refreshing. I didn't eat the seafood. They look like Ok. I expected there were crawfish but no, there wasn't. My friend had some mussels. The salad bar looks fresh. The dessert section offered many choices. I liked the apple stew. All the dish were not so attractive. The taste was overall OK. I went with a friend at the beginning of the pandemic and was very impressed with the health precautions they take. When you get to the hostess desk, you are directed to a hand washing/sanitization station before entering the dining room. Then you continue to wear your mask everywhere except at your table. When you line up for the buffet, there are marks to keep everyone socially distanced. At the buffet stations, staff serves the food from behind glass shields so that customers aren't breathing over and touching all the food. Okay, normally for me I'm not a big fan of going to buffets as I feel I don't get good value as my little ones don't eat much but I have to pay generally at least half for them to eat. And when they do eat they eat the dirt cheap items like pizza, fries, chicken fingers, etc... But at Buffet des Continents each kid eats for FREE with each paying adult! WTF??? Did I die and go to parent heaven! For my family of six I only pay for 3!! And to top it off weekend dinner prices are only $21 or so. Much cheaper then the $30 pp in the GTA. The only exception is on Sats where kids are half price...guess you'll never see me there on Sats! And you get some serious food here..things you don't see often, stone crabs, fried frog legs and escargot! They have different stations such as burritos, sushi, roast meats and even a Pho station! The selection was truly impressive. The only weak spot would be the dessert section but other then that truly impressive. Buffets des Continents is a franchise in Quebec that is very popular and expanding a lot. My cousin tried to go to the new one in Brossard and she said the line up went around the block. As per the name, this buffet's theme is food from different continents. Each item has a little blurb of info of what it is and what it comes from. They are many items from Asia, North America and Europe. One thing that stood out to me was the amount of Greek items they had. I don't remember all of the Greek items I tried or that they had but I remember the spanakopita and a Greek dessert called buzgota or something of that matter. I was astonished as to the depth of food choices there were. I've been to many buffets and this buffet definitely shocked me with the amount of different food they offered. The price is typical. This is probably one of the best buffets I've ever been to. I'm not usually a big buffet fan as I always find that while there are a lot of food choices in large quantities, the quality and flavours tend to lack. That's not quite the case with this buffet. We went on a Saturday night as a party of 4 and was seated immediately. The restaurant is massive, with two levels of seating and a large buffet area. The first most striking thing about this buffet is probably the sheer variety. Buffet of continents is an accurate description of what you'll get here. They definitely have the buffet classics, pizza, cocktail shrimp, chicken balls, but they also have a wide variety of other surprising dishes you wouldn't expect. I thoroughly enjoyed all the seafood they had. Crab claws, shrimp tempura, mussels and clams as well as a full carving station including smoked meat, turkey, roast beef and lamb chops really give you a sense of the value. There are also interesting cooking stations where the servers will cook something personalized to your liking, like a shawarma station, stir fry station, even a special soup station where you can make your own tom yum soup. All of this for around $23 is really a steal. This is a family restaurant, so it's probably not great as a first date option but if you have children, or picky eaters, this is a great spot. There is truly something for everyone and while it's not 5 star quality food, it's pretty good and I notice the food is constantly being refilled so it's generally very fresh. The restaurant is large and very fun and whimsical inside. The decoration captures the continental feel, having different areas with different themes. There's a tropical area, a European looking area, an Asian area, etc... very fun for kids, who also eat for free/for half price depending on the day. I noticed a lot of people celebrating birthdays here, I can see this as a fun casual family gathering place that would please just about anyone. Service is friendly, even to non-Francophones. The cliché, you get what you pay for DOES NOT APPLY at the restaurant. Their prices are outrageous and their food is the most VILE buffet I have tasted in my life. If I could give it a minus I would. I am NOT writing this review just to be a jerk. I am NOT embellishing the least bit. Now I know why they make you pay upon arrival because NOBODY in their right mind would even feed this garbage to their dog. To make matters worse, my 88 year old mother and son in law were BOTH SICK from the roasted chicken. Our party of 15, these 2 were the only ones that ate chicken. The last slap in the face was me ending up in the emergency room at the Ottawa Hospital due to SEVERE allergic reactions. I specifically asked if there was ANY type of seafood or fish in the Chinese portion of the puke they call a buffet. They ASSURED ME THERE WAS NONE. It turns out the Chinese macaroni noodles use oyster sauce. The manager/owners NEVER EVEN ONCE replied to me or returned my calls. I was there on father's day because it happens to be my bday as well and going there was the worst choice ever. I was there a few years ago and I enjoyed it but this time around the experience was awful. 1st - They were beyond short staffed and unprepared for the huge amount of customers that came to eat. 2nd - The place was packed so people where pushing and shoving to get to the food and once you were lucky enough to get to the food it was either empty bins or cold stuff. 3rd - Sitting on the second floor and by the staircase did not help the situation at all. 4th - After all this I finally was able to eat and found out that the food what actually not that great. Tons of variety but unfortunately very little attention is placed upon the quality of each item. Some things are delicious, well cooked and at proper temperature. Other things are just honestly disgusting, overcooked and cold. For example they have Spinach Spanakopita, it's is just phyllo dough and spinach, totally inedible yet it's always in the buffet. I helped myself to a cheese lasagna that had just been placed in the buffet, it was hot but total mush and tasteless. Some things are great like the sushi that is made right there, the Pho soup that they make just for you, the salad bar has some great salads, pizza when you get it fresh out of the oven. Although you have lots of options with over 30-50 different dishes, you can tell that its probably mostly frozen processed food and all premade sauces, because pretty much all of the dishes are bland! Went for brunch on a Sunday around 1pm. As usual the line up was long but goes ever so quickly! We were seated in a mere 2 minutes despite how busy it was. They seated is upstairs which I don't mind. The waitress we had was amazing. She was very tentative on taking our plates away and refilling our coffee so that it was always free - oh and coffee is free with your brunch! 16.50$ on Sunday's. This was a fun buffet! Really large selection of food, there is no way you can sample everything in one visit. Large salad bar plus Chinese, Western, Italian dishes as well as Sushi and various Seafood. Lots of deserts as well. They have a whole section of large roasted meat with servers cutting off pieces for you. We had some great lamb and chicken. Can't complain about the variety and trays got refilled pretty quickly. Not every dish was good, and some stuff we didn't want to touch but on the whole we felt the food was good, especially for a large buffet. The fun part really is taking a little of everything to try stuff you wouldn't normally eat or eat in one place! I tried deep fried frogs legs for the first time! Basically deep fried rubber that tastes like chicken! We went on a Saturday evening, got there by 6pm and the place was packed with a lineup out the door! They had staff guiding cars to the remaining parking spots. You have to cut to the front of the line and put your name in with the staff seating people and tell them how big your party is before you get seated. We were a group of six and were seated pretty quickly considering how busy the place was. Staff looked pretty stressed. I suggest you get there by 5pm on Saturdays. It was getting quiet by 8pm with empty tables and no lineups at the door. Be prepared for screaming kids running everywhere. I suggest you ask for the main floor seating, as this is closer to the food and you don't climb stairs with full plates. Right now they are doing a "Mexican Festival" and had a live Mariachi Band playing and moving around the the dinning area. Also a Mexican food section as part of the buffet. Drinks are extra cost on top of dinner. They really make their money on the drinks. Waiter service comes to your table for drink orders. My sister had a Cesar both her and my father thought was gross, so try at your own risk. I think the price for dinner is not bad for the variety and quality. Nice looking restaurant and great service. However, it wasn't what we expected from their advertising. The heat in there tonight was way to hot, unable to enjoy the atmosphere. The food wasn't all that good same type where you'll find at any buffet. We're not planing to return there. For us, it wasn't worth the trip. Our family made a special trip last Saturday and same with us, was totally discounted. Actually was sick that same night. I had some shrimps and muscles bad ideal. And we won't be returning. Side note, it was crazy hot inside that restaurant. They know their sitting capacity so why it the ac not supplying. Probably why the food went bad. Our server Jose was nice despite her battling the heat inside the restaurant. I felt really bad for her. It's not at all what they advertise. Felt very disappointed. To be honest every time i come back here my experience gets worse and worse. Today it was so atrocious that i couldn't even go back more than once. I found hair in the ice cream containers and even worse the dishes are dirty like explain to me how the dishes just came out of the kitchen and they are already dirty. It doesn't make sense. If negative ratings were possible i would -5 cause it was past bad. It was horrendously bad. The only good thing is the drinks they are properly made and delicious. I've been to Le Buffet for celebrations so perhaps that makes me partial to the place. Birthday celebrations, graduation celebrations,you name it. But I have to admit I've enjoyed the food every time. Great sea food selection. Decent desserts too. Salads for those of you who know what's good for you. Carb fests for the rest of us. :) And seculent meats to accompany whatever main you choose. All you can eat of course. And a very large dining space, great for large parties and kids who can't sit still. Gotta say I like this place a lot, just wish there was a location in Ottawa. Also I can't say it's really that wordly (bit of travelling will make you realize this hardly constitutes multi-continental dining) but it brings you a bit of this and a bit of that. I like coming here frankly. There is no other restaurant that can equate the ridiculously large selection and they always have some cool think like a guy making sushi or tacos, crab legs etc. Anytime, any day I like it. Sunday brunch and Friday seafood are my favorite though. Atmosphere rocks too BTW. Why 3 stars you ask? Only one reason, the food taste is mediocre for many foreign dishes. (I don't know if there's also a bias in me for the lack of Lebanese food lol). Their foreign dishes are very meh and sometimes feel bland. I really don't know what it is that makes it that way though. Maybe quality is sacrificed for selection. Its really sometimes so bad that I had to take off two stars rather than one. Don't be surprised however if a lot of the food is bland tasting, or not too spicy (like most buffets). So that is a disappointing aspect. You can also get a glass of wine for about $4 or $5 which isn't too bad in itself! The servers do their jobs, and I don't really have much to complain about this place! If you are into "buffets" then this is a good option, or also for families with many preferences as there is pretty much every major cuisine available. I can say that the Mexican and Japanese parts are to be avoided. The salar bar is also quite basic, but the chinese, italian, french/quebec and comfort food can be pretty tasty. On a weekend you have to go early cause there is always line ups up to 30 minutes (some people say even longer). As for the food, the selection here is pretty solid. There are lots of vegetables and meats that were fresh. Nothing seemed old or "recycled". Vegetarians here need not go hungry. CLEANINESS: The entire building seemed pretty clean; I could see staff sweeping and wiping even during the busy hours. Plates and utensils were in good shape too. DESSERTS: The wine-soaked pears were absolutely delectable and I was impressed to see that there were even a few class Quebecois desserts that I'd never had before. I went to this place at least 15 times, and I love it. Have a very wide variety of food from all over the world and a magnificent place (especially the second floor). In all my visits I only got 1 rude waiter, the rest were very friendly and professional. I have never experienced shortage of food, chefs usually refill the dishes way before they're empty. I especially like their deserts, it's might be the reason why I go there so often. Reservations are available but usually unnecessary. Overall, Excellent. Definitely would recommend. Well, the best thing I can say is it's edible. Even by buffet standards, most of the dishes are mediocre. The variety is impressive, but everything is quite bland, often overcooked and dry. The foreign dishes in particular, well I don't think these cooks have ever boarded a plane, because the flavour profile is squarely Canadian. The decor is extremely tacky, and there is a big staircase in the middle of the dining area. Who ever thought it would be a good idea to have hundreds of people walking up stairs with heaping plates... I often use "Gatineau" as a pejorative term (from before the amalgamation), and this place is 110% Gatineau. Cheap, tacky, bland, kids running around everywhere. I wouldn't feed this food to my dog. I'm not even sure where to start. This place used to be amazing years ago. I felt horrible for wasting food but it was just not edible! The sauce for the chicken balls tasted like cough sirup. The Roast Beef was just not cooked. It was raw. I had to ask the cook to grill it (he even gave me a weird look because of it). First time here for lunch only. I hear the dinner is better. Big place lots of seating including an upstairs. Lots of free parking. Food wise I've had better. The scrambled eggs were hard and tasted fake. The Chinese food was nothing close to the real deal. I found the dessert selections lacking and there was really no fresh fruit to pick from. I love me my buffets! This place has a great selection! I have been quite a few times now and it is wonderful! The outside look of the place looks very modern and big! However you don't realize how big until you enter the doors right when you walk in it seems like a palace ! It is just has a gorgeous interior ! I honestly do feel like I'm visiting the different continents ! The food selection is vast! From seafood to crepes to chicken dinner to Chinese ! Etc.... The quality of the food isn't perfect ! It is delicious however if you want the real authentic dish you'll have to visit its respective continent lol! The service was very nice and organized! They get a lot of people so it is important to be just that! Busy being said keep in mind it is a loud restaurant but what buffet doesn't have a crowd right?
