executive king room interior with desk
    Betsy B.

My daughters family of 3 and I stayed at the Temple Bar Hotel. It worked out very well for all of us. They had a family room that had a double, single and rollaway bed and it worked well for them. I had the "executive king" that had a bed, desk, table and chairs and worked out well for me. As requested, we had rooms next to each other and they provided a small refrigerator that I had also requested ahead of time. I was greeted upon arrival by the manager who was very welcoming. The location of the hotel is great. Its not far from many attractions such as Trinity College, Dublin Castle, Saint Stephens Green, the Grafton Street shops and transportation is readily available. The hotel has 2 restaurants, Toast for breakfast and Buskers for later meals and entertainment. We were there over Christmas and had our Christmas dinner at Buskers which was very nice. The staff were always willing to help with anything like directions, calling a cab, and information. We all felt really comfortable there. I would definitely stay there again in the future. While some have mentioned noise, we had asked for quiet rooms and had them. Mine overlooked the street but was away from the restaurant and noise. There is a Tesco Express across the street which was also convenient for food and necessities. It was really a great place to stay. They have a variety of rooms available to meet anyones needs.

I could not be more pleased. Everyone here is indeed very very nice. I've had such help from everyone at the desk- even before I came. Lovely lovely people. We're in something called the Snug- it's a bit of a bunkbed situation- we're just using the large bed below. Too bad we don't have a use for that upper bunk! But it's super quiet- my husband was a bit worried, especially after some of the reviews- and they do indeed give you ear plugs. But we've not needed them and we're sleeping with the windows open. There's a safe and a table and outlets for charging. I like their "linen" toiletries. They smell great. There's a discount for eating breakfast here if you book the night before. There's a bar here as well. There's a Tesco right across the street- full of drinks and salads and sandwiches- all your picnic needs, or your sweets or croissants. There is no fridge in our room- wish we had one- but it's quite nice just as it is. I love the mattress- just to my taste, and 4 pillows! Every hotel should have 4- but you know they don't. And Location Location Location. You can't beat the location. In the Temple Bar- near so many wonderful places- the Palace Bar, Klaw, the Boxty House- and easy walking from the Castle or St Patricks. Edit- still loving it here. STILL finding the staff ot be some of the most helpful people on the planet (thank you very much for all the help! I certainly needed it.) Tried the breakfast- and it's well worth it if you're hungry. 20 euro each- but if you book the night before it's only 15 (only! look at that :-) I know, 15 is a lot. But you get a huge breakfast- as much as you want. We were positively stuffed. There's juice and coffee or tea- then ham, sausage, scrambled egg, fried egg, tomatoes, mushrooms, all kinds of bread, potato wedges, fruits (watermelon, strawberries, blueberries), yogurt, jams, hot cereal cold cereal- and we were told, if we didn't see something out, to ask for it! Isn't that lovely. I was very pleased and as I said, totally stuffed. It was my breakfast and lunch.

    Clogged

Terrible hotel. Location is fine, if you don't mind the very loud nights of course, however: Most rooms don't have air conditioning (those with it are leaking water), the bathrooms are outdated with clogged sink, the WiFi is at best times very weak/slow but regularly shuts down completely for hours at a time. And worst is the staff that's obviously overwhelmed by the complaints, with one named Philip that's totally rude. The Manager Patrick Sullivan seems to be doing his best to navigate this sinking boat but this is a Titanic you shouldn't join!

    Earplugs..

This hotel is situated in the most busy and loud part of Dublin,Temple Bar. We knew this when we booked. The room was very plain. The bathtub has very high sides and it is difficult to get out without slipping. Location is good. Hotel supplies earplugs for your quiet slumber...lol.

Nice hotel. Centrally located in Dublin. Nice staff. Music in the bar next door can get a little noisy.

If you come prepared, they have a concierge and a genealogist on site to help you find your ancestors from Ireland. Many famous people and politicians have stayed in these walls as well. That said, this was a truly special time of year when they're getting ready for Christmas! They took such care and were meticulous with their decorations. It was delightful to come home to each evening. Experience: 1. They will tidy your room everyday 2. Turn down service begins around 6 pm (they will get your slipper, robe, bed, water and chocolate ready for nighttime) 3. Their small guest room includes a king size bed that is superbly fluffy. 4. The deluxe guest room has a deep tub for soaking Staff: The entire front desk staff is very helpful, welcoming and efficient. Marta was especially helpful and kind throughout my stay! As for the porters were just right with their assistance. I did always feel bad that I had not gotten any Euro on my trip, but I will mention Karl was fantastic! Always helpful and nice to talk with. Michele in the health center was informative and helped me find all of the rooms for their current gym as it's under renovation. Facilities: They have a 5 star spa on site that includes one of the best relaxation rooms I have experienced in the world. It's the view and seating that make it amazing. They give you a blanket, fruit, spa water -- all while looking over st. Stephen's park... bliss! (I went on a rainy day which added to the ambiance) The facial with Elemis product was my favorite. PRO TIP! if you're from the states and liked Elemis, there is now an Elemis outlet store at Kildare Village, which is a short train ride away. I made it there in 35 minutes. DINING: Again, 5 star experience and the restaurant is always packed. Chef makes superb food and I thoroughly enjoyed the room service of fish and chips. TONS of fish, perfectly battered and fried. If I could give the shelbourne a 10 out of 5 I would.

It is in a convenient location nearby many tourist attractions, such as Temple Bar, Dublin's castle, St Patrick's Cathedral, etc. it was also a short walking distance to our car rental pick up at St Stephen's Green shopping centre. We booked this hotel for the first day of our trip. We arrived in the morning so our room wasn't ready for check in yet, but we were able to drop off our luggage in the lobby. This made it easy for us as we could continue exploring according to our plan (we took a 30 minute train ride over to Howth right after dropping our bags). Coming back to the hotel around 5pm, our room was ready and we were able to nap a bit before dinner. The superior room we booked was located in a renovated section of the hotel and had access to a shared outdoor patio right across from our hotel room. We didn't have time to use the patio but it was spacious and it seemed no one was using it whenever we passed by. Our hotel room was very clean, large (great for us as we had plenty of luggage) and we had two complementary water bottles in the room. We had breakfast the next morning and it was buffet style. There is a section if you want fresh made omelettes. Lots of variety I think but I stuck with the classic Irish breakfast items. So delicious and fresh! Check out process - we had a bit of a hiccup as I had given my credit card for authorization for breakfast charges when I checked in. The staff was asking for my credit card again which confused me as I had already paid. Despite the confusion, the service at Radisson was great and I would definitely recommend this hotel for fellow tourists!

Few hotels genuinely deserve every one of their five stars. The Merrion Hotel is one of them…read more We spent three unforgettable nights here in late July, and from the moment we arrived until our departure, every aspect of our stay was flawless. The hotel strikes the perfect balance between historic grandeur and contemporary luxury, delivering an experience that feels both elegant and genuinely welcoming. The staff were exceptional. Every interaction was warm, polished, and effortless, but Robert, the doorman, deserves special recognition. His professionalism, kindness, and sincere hospitality set the tone each time we entered or left the hotel. He embodies the remarkable standard of service that defines The Merrion. Breakfast each morning in the Garden Room was a highlight of our stay. Designed with a relaxed atmosphere that contrasts beautifully with the hotel's formal Georgian drawing rooms, it offers one of the finest breakfasts I've ever enjoyed. The buffet showcases exceptional Irish produce, including a wonderful selection of regional honeys, artisanal yogurts, and kefirs sourced from counties across Ireland. The freshly prepared Full Irish Breakfast was, without question, the best I've ever had--perfectly cooked and featuring outstanding local ingredients. The hotel's wellness facilities are equally impressive. The indoor swimming pool is one of the most beautiful hotel pools I've encountered, complemented by an excellent sauna, steam room, fitness center, and luxurious spa that provide a tranquil retreat after a day exploring Dublin. The Merrion's setting is spectacular. Occupying four meticulously restored Georgian townhouses alongside a contemporary Garden Wing, it combines architectural beauty with every modern comfort. Yet what truly distinguishes the property is its extraordinary art collection. Housing Ireland's largest private collection of 19th- and 20th-century Irish art, the hotel feels as much like a museum as it does a luxury hotel. Among my favorite pieces were Sean Scully's striking Vertical Stripes, Jack B. Yeats' magnificent The Hour of Sleep, Louis le Brocquy's haunting Woman in White, and works by Paul Henry, Roderic O'Conor, Mainie Jellett, and William Scott. In the courtyard garden, Rowan Gillespie's bronze sculpture of James Joyce provides a fitting tribute to one of Ireland's literary giants. Wandering the corridors and elegant reception rooms became an experience in itself. What impressed me most, however, was the service. The staff possess an extraordinary ability to anticipate guests' needs without ever being intrusive. Our room was impeccably maintained each day, with thoughtful evening turndown service, replenished water, perfectly arranged slippers, and countless small touches that elevated our stay. One moment particularly stood out. An elderly family member who uses a wheelchair came to visit us during our stay. The compassion, patience, and professionalism shown by every member of the staff made what could have been a challenging visit completely effortless. Their commitment to accessibility and genuine care was deeply appreciated and reflected the hotel's philosophy that true luxury lies in making every guest feel welcome. The Merrion is more than simply Dublin's premier luxury hotel--it is a destination in its own right. With world-class dining, outstanding wellness facilities, museum-quality art, impeccable accommodations, and service that consistently exceeds expectations, it represents Irish hospitality at its absolute finest. I would return without hesitation, and I cannot recommend it highly enough.
