Staff did NOT meet special instructions. In order to arrive @ 6am and be accommodated, I was told to book the day before. I did that - I PAID FOR AN ENTIRE DAY so I could check in early. HOWEVER - staff CANCELED by ENTIRE reservation and clocked me as a NO SHOW THEN - despite my simple request for a quiet room, b/c I was on a bereavement visit - they IGNORED IT I was given the NOSIEST room in the hotel - it had a horrible view of mechanical equipment that filled the whole alley, then it was also the glass recycling bins - and it's like a frat house every night! After 2 days of non operating key cards, Staff was a bit demeaning...offering a free coffee one day. The next day, for my troubles they offered a small box of treats - which I took, but returned after I was once again, locked out of the room b/c even lock battery went dead and I was locked out for 20 minutes! coffee and candy just doesn't cut it after that. I demanded a better room. On my way out the next day, I said, "I look forward to my room change this afternoon" and the clerk asked why - I told him to check with the mgmt. from the previous night. Thanks for being kind guys - but you wouldn't have to apologize, if the job was done right. My reservation cancelation, unquiet accommodations, late arrival, key card issues were only handled as pocket problems - and was not spread across management so everyone was aware. Communication is GOOD Temple Bar Hotel - I did my part - I checked and double checked with staff to make sure the extra late (or super early) check in was processed and I would be expected AND I paid for that accommodation - staff lack of communication between shift mgrs. could have had me on the street w/o a reservation that I made weeks in advance. Stayed here years ago and thought give it another try. First , I'd like say this is a solid top 3 rating. So consider that if you book. I'm sure I might come again but might try other places. The location on temple street is excellent and I really want to give kudos to the excellent staff service which was very helpful. Reasonable price as well transit through for flight back. So let's give the pro and con Pro Great staff Generally very clean Good size room And if want to be in the action good location Less than pro Noise as sever bars right by ( they do give you ear plugs) Room had some issues , broken toilet roll holder and we had to put the door stop back on Also some hair on bed , before anyone sat on it And for this room no window view , but some rooms have it so just ask first Overall, I want to love this place , but I do like it. My daughter wife and I checked in to the temple bar hotel. My daughter had a room with twin beds on the ground floor. It was spacious. The shower was big. It was a very nice room. My wife and I had a queen size bed on the third floor no elevators, only 55 steps and three landings to get up there And I'm an old guy. I will say the staff was super. They volunteered to take my luggage up, which they did, all three floors the room had a queen bed but no place to put luggage. It was so small. The wife had to crawl over the bed to get to her side no hangers no closets. We lived out of our suitcases. Yo shower, You had to step up maybe 6 to 8 inches to get into the shower with no bars to hold on, and try getting out, when you're wet and nothing to hold on to. I am 6'2" and not fat. The shower was so small you could not turn around, you could not bend over, there were no shelves to put your razor or shampoo on. It was pretty tight and pretty miserable, every time you took a shower you were hoping you didn't slip and fall going in or coming out of the shower. remember those 55 stairs, now you have to go down to go out to breakfast, You have to go up to get your things to go out during the day. You gotta go down to go out and do sightseeing. You have to go up to change and get ready for dinner gotta go down go to dinner and remember I'm 70. as we were checking out. I was doing my best to carry my luggage down and some gal who was cleaning rooms, took pity on me and carried my luggage down for me. Likewise, they carried my wife's luggage down as well so if you're gonna stay here, I would definitely get the two twin beds. The rooms are much larger and the shower is much larger. Also, I would look on the ground or first floor stay away from the queen size beds, and higher floors unless you like climbing and going downstairs but the staff is super. They were extremely helpful and I would definitely stay here again as long as I was on the first or ground floor because the location is unbeatable other than it was really loud until about one or 2 AM when the bar is starting to wind down. The hotel is very clean very well staffed the staff is wonderful and helpful. The twin beds are the way to go with plenty of room and big showers. I would stay away from the upper floors and the queen beds just my opinion. Other than the workout going up and down the stairs, we had a wonderful time at the Temple bar hotel. If our young daughter was writing this review, she would probably give it a five out of five. she loved her room. Cleanliness and staff were a 10/10. As a group of 4 girls the price was perfect and best part is being right in the center of everything in Dublin City center. We tried checking in early but couldn't but staff was super friendly and made it super simple to store our bags while we explored Dublin and also when checking out since I stayed an extra day in a different hotel closer to airport they were friendly enough to keep my bags while I explored Dublin for my last day till I was ready to leave to my next destination. My daughters family of 3 and I stayed at the Temple Bar Hotel. It worked out very well for all of us. They had a family room that had a double, single and rollaway bed and it worked well for them. I had the "executive king" that had a bed, desk, table and chairs and worked out well for me. As requested, we had rooms next to each other and they provided a small refrigerator that I had also requested ahead of time. I was greeted upon arrival by the manager who was very welcoming. The location of the hotel is great. Its not far from many attractions such as Trinity College, Dublin Castle, Saint Stephens Green, the Grafton Street shops and transportation is readily available. The hotel has 2 restaurants, Toast for breakfast and Buskers for later meals and entertainment. We were there over Christmas and had our Christmas dinner at Buskers which was very nice. The staff were always willing to help with anything like directions, calling a cab, and information. We all felt really comfortable there. I would definitely stay there again in the future. While some have mentioned noise, we had asked for quiet rooms and had them. Mine overlooked the street but was away from the restaurant and noise. There is a Tesco Express across the street which was also convenient for food and necessities. It was really a great place to stay. Fantastic staff! They have handled every possible need we could have, taking extra care and stopping in to make sure that we were covered. The manager is amazing and the attentive staff is exceptional. We received coupons for drinks and pool upon arrival. The music in the bar was as great, with everyone singing along. Our kids were happy. The location is in the center of the city, in all the fun. Just a minute walk from temple bar square, Trinity college, wax museum and the Dublin castle and Christ church. I think you have to give a couple of considerations when leaving a review here unlike some of the other reviews. Yes it can get loud at times but we had a room at the inner circle of the hotel and it was extremely quiet. I purposely booked in the busy part of town as I wanted to be able to walk. We were able to walk to Jameson, Guinness, the Book of Keller, St. Patrick's Cathedral and numerous other places. The staff is amazing here and friendly. Nicolas help us out upon check in as we had two different reservations for consecutive nights and made it to where we don't have to check out and switch rooms. The staff was exceptional when it came to assisting with our needs. If you want to be in the heart of the action this is a five star stay. Was here in October so it may be different without AC in the summer. If you want a quiet hotel 24/7 this simply isn't where to stay and a place in the countryside would be more suitable, read more

Worst hotel I stayed in on my 2 wk trip to Europe. Rooms are small and musty smelling. It's noisy outside until 2am that's why they give you ear plugs in the room but those don't even help. The TOAST restaurant buffet was a tourist trap. Don't eat there it's not worth it and the discount paper they say to give to get it. Well I was told you have to present that a day before. Hog wash. I could not be more pleased. Everyone here is indeed very very nice. I've had such help from everyone at the desk- even before I came. Lovely lovely people. We're in something called the Snug- it's a bit of a bunkbed situation- we're just using the large bed below. Too bad we don't have a use for that upper bunk! But it's super quiet- my husband was a bit worried, especially after some of the reviews- and they do indeed give you ear plugs. But we've not needed them and we're sleeping with the windows open. There's a safe and a table and outlets for charging. I like their "linen" toiletries. They smell great. There's a discount for eating breakfast here if you book the night before. There's a bar here as well. There's a Tesco right across the street- full of drinks and salads and sandwiches- all your picnic needs, or your sweets or croissants. There is no fridge in our room- wish we had one- but it's quite nice just as it is. I love the mattress- just to my taste, and 4 pillows! Every hotel should have 4- but you know they don't. And Location Location Location. You can't beat the location. In the Temple Bar- near so many wonderful places- the Palace Bar, Klaw, the Boxty House- and easy walking from the Castle or St Patricks. Terrible hotel. Location is fine, if you don't mind the very loud nights of course, however: Most rooms don't have air conditioning (those with it are leaking water), the bathrooms are outdated with clogged sink, the WiFi is at best times very weak/slow but regularly shuts down completely for hours at a time. And worst is the staff that's obviously overwhelmed by the complaints, with one named Philip that's totally rude. The Manager Patrick Sullivan seems to be doing his best to navigate this sinking boat but this is a Titanic you shouldn't join! read more

Do not stay at The Temple Bar Hotel. There is a bar attached to the hotel and the DJ and music blast into the rooms until 2:00 AM, then the drunk patrons scream and yell in the street until 3:00 AM. At 6:00 AM the loud street sweepers travel up and down the street cleaning up the garbage and puke. The hotel's solution was a set of cheap earplugs set out on the sink. My family and I flew overnight and we did not get any sleep for the first two nights of our vacation. Do yourself a favor and stay clear of the Temple Bar Hotel! read more

DO NOT BOOK YOUR STAY HERE UNLESS YOU WANT YOUR SAFETY TO BE IN JEOPARDY!!!! This is the MOST ATROCIOUS hotel experience I have ever had! I have stayed at hotels all around the world & this was the MOST HORRIFIC experience!!! My friend & I had booked a regular room for the night & what we received was a coffin-sized room. Imagine something smaller than a dog cage or prison cell....wait, a prison cell would have been better!! We would have left, but they refused to refund us our money as they made us pay up front upon arrival!! Then, while we were sleeping someone was trying to break into our room from 4:00-7:30am, not once, but four times throughout the middle of the night! Now mind you, we are two women alone!! The individual trying to break-in made ZERO effort of saying who they were, so this was not a maid or hotel staff member! We mentioned this to the staff in the lobby and they DID NOT seem concerned nor did they do anything to compensate us for our awful experience. So, I contested this charge with my bank. Then, to add insult to injury they contested it as well & I was stuck paying for this dump!! I would have used negative stars for this rating, but that option was not offered. The hotel itself is fine. Kinda plain jane, walls in room we're pretty bare and the shower/bath are very high of the floor making getting out of the slippery shower a challenge. The location is great if you want the excitement of Temple Bar, but beware it is loud with music and crowds going strong till around 2am. So if you want a quiet nights sleep look elsewhere. If you want to party later into the night and have a close by place to retire too, this might work for you. read more

It's August and Dublin had a slight heat wave and humidity. We were placed in a family-size room in the back and those rooms do not have Air Conditioning. We were offered a fan and the bathroom was old and had broken parts. If you need wifi forget this hotel's sub-par wifi; very spotty! We requested a room with AC and a view of the vibrant street but was told out that weekend and was promised by rude Philip (Italian with an attitude ) clearly he doesn't belong in the service industry. Under the slightest pressure such as a simple request or inquiry, he has an attitude. We request a refund for our 5-night stay which they denied placing the blame on Booking.com. We purchase a room for one night at the Hilton with AC and speedy wifi. They promise an immaculate room for us on Monday for the next three nights at the front of the street. We arrive and Patrick the manager does his best to give us a great room. As he leads us to the room one of his front desk clowns passes our room to another, guest! We unlock the room to a scream of a new occupant. We wait another hour for a room with AC to be clean and when we step in the AC is dripping the rig is soaked!! Patrick gives his apologies but is unable to repair it. We leave for the full day and arrive back after dinner to the dripping sounds of the AC leaking at a fast pace now!! The wifi is dead!! My husband requests Philip access to VIP wifi and Philip explains the wifi is not working and it's a server problem that he is working on but can't give us VIP access! Really disappointed, from the small "deluxe" room with absolutely not one drawer to unpack your clothing, bathroom a disaster. The towel rack was literally 8 feet above the floor had to use a stick to grab down the towel. Even cleaning staff left fresh towels on the bed, clearly couldn't reach the rack. No counter space to put your toiletries on. The shower door, a half, had an unattached rubber bottom so water dripped all over the floor. The bar Buskers had decent food, but nightly entertainment was worse then family karaoke. Despite multiple emails to assure our 3 day extension was at the same rate as the first night, no response, the manager very pleasant when we checked in said he saw emails and would make it right, but passed us onto the business manager, who refused to honor our initial rate. Besides being extremely rude, he was totally unhelpful. I NEVER give bad reviews figure most businesses trying to do their best. On May 4, 2022 I entered into a contact with pinSight, HotelBeds and Temple Bar Inn. I paid for a safe hotel room for the nights of March 18 & 19, 2023. I held up my side of the contract with payment and appearance. Temple Bar Inn failed the contract. The room 204 was not fit for human occupancy. The room had a chemical smell. Temple Bar Inn knew this smell was there as they left the room windows wide open trying to air the stink out. There was also an air fresher smell to mask the chemical smell. Due to the loud noise emanating from the street, we closed the OPENED windows. It is than we were overcome with the chemical smell. We could not stay in that room for our health. Were we expected to sleep with the windows open to relieve the smell? Close the windows to lessen the noise? Temple Bar Inn NEVER offered a solution. Temple Bar Inn failed to hold their end of the contract. After further research of reviews I found Temple Bar Inn (the manager) knew of this issue and made rebuttals to the negative reviews. Just as this manager, Simona is doing with our situation. Simona stating the windows works fine is clearly ignorant. Simona stating it is noisy so use earplugs was blatantly ignorant. She'd thought paying guests should sleep in a chemical smelling room with the windows open, on a cold March night with her earplugs in. The issue was NEVER the working condition of the windows. The health board of Ireland should be informed of the chemical smell issue as I am not the only one to complain of it. I am sure the Irish tourist boards would help Temple Bar Inn address the issue. I expected the FULL refund of my payment credited back to my account immediately. Temple Bar Inn broke the terms of the contract. PinSight (HotelBeds - Expedia) holds responsibility for allowing booking of unsafe conditions at Temple Bar Inn. The manager Simona refused to refund my money!! read more

A lot of reviews commented on problems with noise.... I had no such bad luck! My room had a double bed; very comfortable as I like firm mattresses. Small couch and bottled "still" water. (Most of Europe offers gassed water first unless you ask for still or no gas.) The shower and bath were clean; a little small but that is Europe. The gym is around the corner from the hotel and is included in your stay. It is a real gym; not a tiny hotel gym. Ask the front desk for a pass and they will give you a towel and extra water bottles if you ask. The breakfast is about $17 euro for all you can eat. $15 if you book a breakfast the day before. There is a restaurant/bar attached to the Hotel. Great food. I had an "Irish beef stew" one night and "Irish salmon" with homemade potato soup the next. They pour a great pint of Guinness (yes there is a difference between how bars pour their Guinness) and have a variety of other draft beers! Make sure to see the Celtic dance show and live music!!! Absolutely amazing!!!! Show starts at 7pm, 1900hrs. The staff was very helpful and FRIENDLY! They pointed me in the right directions for all my wants!!! (Make sure you book at the Temple Bar HOTEL.... As I believe there is also an inn with the same name and is more like a European hostel.) The Temple Bar Hotel was a great option for our family with young adults (19-25) and older adults. We had a great time in the Temple Bar area for our weekend in Dublin, enjoying the lively pub and restaurant scene. (+2 stars) Hotel is exceptionally clean and outfitted for the price... offering coffee and tea in your room, fresh toiletries, etc... (+1 star) -2 stars for the weekend noise that is really unacceptable for 1:30am in a hotel. We were in a first floor room above the nightclub (ping pong club) and could barely drown out the pounding bass music from below. Yeah, the ear plugs and some serious jet lag helped me sleep but if not for the jet lag... I'd be awake until when it apparently closed at 4:00am. read more

As a frequent business traveler, I see two types of hotels: "The Lame Chain" This is the super sterile, chain hotel with the same stuff no matter where you go. And, they typically nickel and dime you (aka paid wi-fi, $63 bottles of water, and $550/night parking). And then you have the... "Local Joint" This is where Temple Bar comes in. These hotels are hip, unique, and offer you a variety not found in the chains. So, against the advice of my entire office, I decided to stay right in the heart of Dublin's drinking and partying mecca. I requested a courtyard room (this makes ALL the difference - you will actually have silence). The hotel is clean, well laid out and has a pretty active sports pub. Free wi-fi was a nice touch too. The room was a decent size, and clean, and the towel warmer was a nice touch (need to get one for home now). The staff was super responsive to calls, and is always nice to chat them up. The location is PERFECT. There is a nice Tesco right across the way, and a car park as well. You can walk to just about anywhere (maybe not Galway, but you get the idea), and stumble back. We slept well and had no complaints. Close to many other attractions including Trinity College and Stephen's Green. Staff were friendly and informative. The sports bar next door was great! Food was good and better than your typical pub grub. We caught the free 7:30pm traditional Celtic show. Be advised that the dancers come on halfway thru the 2 hour show, and the show opens with musicians/singers. Bus stops right in front on O'Connelly to take you to the airport. Caught the hop on hop off bus a few blocks away to sight see. Thai food a few stores down if you get tired of pub food, grocery store literally in front of you, and along the river. Overall, great bang for your buck! We loved it. Clean, modern, convenient. Free wifi and although slow, there is an option to upgrade $$ if necessary. Free bottles of water everyday. Well, how much you like this hotel depends on what you're prioritizing. If location matters most and being within easy walking distance of most sights in dublin is what you want, then this hotel is great for its price point. I paid like sixty euro a night for tue, weds, thu night the week after st Patrick's. I couldn't have asked for a better location and the noise level was actually fine. As an actual hotel though, it was nothing special to somewhat poor. Beds were fine. Flat screen tv. Complimentary wireless which was a little finicky. But the bathroom was pretty poor (the sink was like the size of a bowl) there was this permanent coffee stain thing on the floor. Housekeeping did nothing besides make the bed and fold towels. The staff was wonderful! Anytime my friend and I had a question about where to eat or directions, the employees were happy to assist. The room was clean and basic. The TV did not work but I guess we weren't there to watch TV. ;-) It's walking distance to shopping, restaurants, and pubs, especially the Temple Bar pub! And there is a grocery store immediately across the street which is perfect for snacks, on-the-go sandwich when you are taking a tour. We had a bit of a budget and wanted to keep this rather be too worried about how nice the hotel was (as long as it was a complete dump!). We were so surprised at how nice this hotel was. Staff were really friendly and helpful, our room was large with huge bed, lovely decor with additional chairs, flat screen tv and free wifi. We were actually sad that we didn't have an additional day to enjoy the place! There is also option to upgrade for an additional €20 which we didn't bother with. This hotel was perfect for one night in Dublin. Location is great, right in the center of temple bar. Room was clean, modern, comfortable. Felt very safe and at home. Was offered hot chocolate at check in, nice touch. Would absolutely recommend a stay here for a night or two in Dublin. I've stayed here twice - June 2014 & now August 2018. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean and comfortable. The only thing you have to remember is that you're in the Temple Bar neighborhood (Americans think Bourbon Street). That basically means there is noise outside your room about 21 hours a day. How much noise? Enough for the hotel to provide complimentary earplugs. read more
