Great little Speakeasy. Over 40 wines to choose from. Warm and inviting. The former library is a great choice for a quiet evening of cocktails, wine and small plates. Check it out!

Of course, the Finger Lakes are KNOWN for wine so we're just thinking we're making reservations for a wine bar (with "speakeasy" vibes). Which that would've been totally cool with us. After continuous back and forth, changing our reservations 50 million times, adding and taking people out, we finally made it to Vinifera on a Friday night and were super apologetic since we had to make yet another change. The staff was absolutely incredible and accommodating, they made sure our party of 10 would be in the same room/table. The only "downfall" was that we'd have to share the room with another small party. Which was absolutely not a problem and we ended up being BFF'S with them by the end of the night. We met the owner Jim - the most incredible human - and he took us down to the speakeasy (which passes right through a super secretive door in the back of the main room upstairs). Side note - the main room upstairs is a vibe on it's own btw and we would've been absolutely fine and happy there. It's an actual wine store and you can purchase all kind of local wines. Be sure to ask and get all the recommendations you want. Not only did we get to enjoy an incredible time but we got a super cool VIP experience and learned the story and so much history about this place, the concept, the origin and what sparked the idea of creating it. That itself, was a treat. On to the actual speakeasy experience. When you go downstairs (through that fun super cool super secretive door) - you're instantly transported to another era, another time. It's dark, it's velvety, chandeliers, spiderwebs (the aesthetic kind, idk if there were actually any but it fit the vibe in my head), Leonardo Da Vinci, Mona Lisa, candles, curtains. There are two super cool rooms, one to the right (which is where our large party sat at) and one to the left - totally recommended for smaller groups, it's cozy, it's chill, you can interact and share with other guests too. Just by this, I'm wowed. As if this wasn't enough, the drinks were absolutely incredible. I ended up ordering some kind of a smoked drink and they happily substituted the regular old fashioned for mezcal. What a dream. Everyone was happy with their drink orders, some ordered some off the menu things and they happily made them - even though they technically only serve what's on the menu. Wine flights are also available if you're in the wine vibe. Bottom line: we loved this place SO much, we came back 2 night's later for our last night. We sat in the other room and absolutely loved and enjoyed it. I had a lavender drink and it was delish. This place is a GEM and you should absolutely check it out and support it if you're in the area. If you're not, well now you have a place I know you'll love to go to!

This looks like a bookstore from outside. I love the vibe when you walk in. It actually feels like a speakeasy. You have to open a secret door when you walk inside the lighting the decor is all phenomenal. We did have to have a reservation as the place is completely booked on a Friday night, even the bar was too capacity. We were seated right away as we had reservations, the nice part about the reservations as well as you could text them to get those reservations. We had dinner prior to our reservations, so we didn't get a chance to try the food although the menu that was in a folded binder was lit when it opened a very cool little feature. The drink menu could've been a little bit more extensive for their specialty drinks, however, they had what seemed like hundreds of liquor options for you to make your own or to choose something on the rocks. Our server Nate was excellent, he suggested and recommended different drinks for us, he also brought over a little cheesecake because it was Amanda's birthday this week. Just an outstanding location vibe service experience. All of that. We would highly recommend it and if we're back in Binghamton, we would definitely go. If I lived in Binghamton. This is the place I would bring all of my guests to. Would we go back, absolutely, so much so that we are hoping or would love to see this in our hometown

Reviewing the hotel and the Stonecutter's restaurant. Hotel:…read morePositives: close proximity to Geneva, especially if you are seeing a show at the Smith Opera House. Beautiful grounds if the weather is good. On Seneca Lake....gorgeous. Wine spigot in the hotel hallway ( limited to one glass per person). We received a coupon for the wine tasting with 10% off of alcohol purchases in the store. The Continental breakfast had a nice assortment of drinks and cold items. Negatives: one word comes to mind...dated. Our room was small with a very limited lake view. The windows haven't been cleaned in a very long time. The television is tiny, like a computer monitor. The spring rod to the curtains kept springing off every time I tried to open or close the drape. The shower is tiny and you can barely turn around. There are few outlets, the only ones I was able to access that worked were in the bathroom ( only one of the double outlet was functional). The carpet in our room appeared to be about thirty years old and worn. This room, called the clay room was advertised on the website to have a queen bed and a refurbished bathroom. The bathroom has not been touched in years and the queen bed turned out to be a full-size bed. Stonecutters: wonderful waitress, who kept our beverages filled and was attentive. My broccoli cheddar soup had negligible cheddar or broccoli. My salad with grilled shrimp was okay. My husband's Cuban sandwich arrived on a stale roll and he thought the fries (weirdly shaped) were reheated. His chili arrived lukewarm. Not a good experience overall. Despite this, the staff are lovely, upbeat and helpful.

Delicious pasta! Better than Thompson and Bleecker and perhaps my favorite restaurant in Ithaca!…read more We tried the eggplant roll appetizer which was warm and very cheesy. The anchovy salad was also good (I prefer the white anchovies which they used). The salad was also quite generous with the cheese. I enjoyed dipping the warm bread in the leftover eggplant cheese/sauce. For mains we tried the chicken, black spaghetti, and the pappardelle. I love mushrooms, so the pappardelle was my favorite. A rather simple buttery sauce which allowed the flavor of the mushrooms to really come through. Delicious! I don't usually like to re-order the same dish when returning to restaurants, but this was so good when I come back I will definitely be getting this again! Black spaghetti and chicken were also good- no complaints here. For dessert we tried the panna cotta which was a tiny bit on the runny side though I am just being picky. It was very tasty and not too sweet. The tiramisu was also good (on the boozier side). The desserts were rather small but the mains were all quite hefty portion sizes. Reservations were rather inconvenient to snag though definitely not too hard. Overall, I really enjoyed Gola Osteria and will have to return to try more of their pastas!
