Short Version: The staff is lazy, rude, dishonest, and disrespectful. Don't waste your time. Dealership intentionally dishonestly allows vehicles to remain on their website to drive contacts and foot traffic. It got us in the door but after the terrible treatment, we went straight to another dealership and spent 40K on the vehicle we wanted. There are plenty of other options available, avoid this one. Detailed Version: Visited this dealership to find a new Kia Stinger. This would be our third Kia dealership of the day and Tempe Kia's website, along with Kia's main website said they had over a dozen currently available. After spending some time on the lot without a visit from any sales personnel, we made our way to the front where one of the four stingers they actually had was on display near the front doors. A salesman came out to greet us and began to help us. When we asked about the stinger in front, he said it was sold and had been sold for several days... this seemed odd and was quite disappointing. Not sure of the reason for leaving a sold vehicle on display for several days and leading customers to believe it's available. Honestly seemed a little shady and deceptive. When we asked about the other Stingers available, the salesman said the website was wrong and that they regularly keep more inventory available online than what is truly available to drive contacts and foot traffic to the dealership. Again, incredibly disappointing, dishonest, shady and quite the let down for us. Nonetheless, there was a stinger that we liked and we chose to sit down to talk numbers and provide info about our trade. Another annoyance/red flag was the salesman flat out saying our trade was worthless and wouldn't help us on our deal... KBB lists our trade as being worth 5K-7K if sold privately, so we knew the vehicle wasn't worthless. Still, getting desperate to find a stinger, we did the usual back and forth with a salesman. During so, our salesman kept our keys held hostage at his sales managers desk preventing us from leaving and making us feel like we were held against our will. Again, frustrating in the least. After a half dozen trips to his sales manager and us insisting on leaving because we were frustrated beyond our wits at that point, we finally landed where we wanted to be. Not getting the best vibe and still unsure if we wanted to spend that amount of money, we said that we wanted to leave to think about it. At this point he brought his sales manager over to talk to us. Anyone who has bought a car knows sales managers have a reputation of being rude, pushy, intimidating and generally unpleasant. This was an understatement for this guy. He walked over yelling "We got where you wanted, whats the deal?!" to which we responded we just wanted to leave and think about it. At this point he literally turned away and waved us off without a word. Beyond rude. Not to mention their sales pit is in the open so shit talking carries quite easily. If you're looking for the stereotypical car buying experience, this is the place for you. Rude, apathetic sales personnel. Pushy, arrogant sales managers. As a concluding note, we left and called Camelback Kia to see if it would be alright to stop in at 8:45pm, cause it was late and 15 before closing... They said absolutely. We arrived to the vehicle we were interested in being pulled up and ready to look at, reached a deal within 20 minutes with our trade getting a reasonable number, and left with a 40k kia stinger that night. We were anxious to get back home to our kids so they said we could bring it back or do it ourselves by connecting the vehicle to WiFi. So, I bought a new Kia two weeks ago. Our salesman was Byron. He was great, very helpful, honest, and super friendly. He answered all our questions and when he didn't know the answer he put use in touch with William who offered to have us come down and explain more about our new car. Both gave us great customer service. The financial guy was Mani he was great as well, super friendly and helpful. The only problem or annoyance I have had is from the internet sales people. Tom continue to send text after my purchase was made. I did let him know I purchased a car from Tempe Kia, that he responded to with a "Really??", so I sent a picture that the salesman took the day I bought my car. Tom response "who's name was the purchase under?" I didn't respond. Then he ask if it was my husband's name. I didn't respond. I'm not sure why Tom would handle customer service this way. Tonight I received another text for Nick. I let him know I purchased a car on 6/6. No questions asked. Online sales need to get it together. Take a page out of Byron's book.... This time I had Paula for my advisor and she was nothing but awesome for my visit. I had to get my battery looked at and I ended up getting it replaced. Paula kept me updated on almost everything on the car, much appreciated! Most advisors just rush you and are pushy but she did not push me a lot or nag me about approving the battery. Thanks! I do not like visiting the dealership (as most people don't) because it obviously means money is to be spent...usually large portions but I don't worry about it much because the employees seem great and are friendly for the most part. I know my car will be taken care if good and I will be treated very friendly. And I work in a dealership so I know as soon as a customer leaves and what goes on but everybody is awesome here. Also Tony the shuttle driver was an awesome guy as he gave me a ride back to work and is a good conversationalist. read more

I've owned 4 Kia's and I do love these cars. I've been to some of the other Kia dealerships but this one is my fav for both service and purchasing new cars. Let's be real, car salesman have a job to do and they are clearly trying to make the most profit possible, but I felt the price was very reasonable for the car and features. I also truly appreciate not being pressured. They took their time, helped me figure out the features, answered all of the questions I knew to ask and worked with me to find a price range I was comfortable with. Joe Singleton, although new and this was somewhat evident, was patient, kind and worked to find answers if he didn't know them. Several others helped out (Brandon Bender and dude who figured out the smart lift feature for us). It took hours but this is normal and they made the experience pleasant. You do need to be careful with finance department - make sure you know the cost of all the add ons they are trying sell you (gap insurance, alarm systems, payment plans that have "membership fees"). I knew what I would be paying but didn't fully realize what was paying for, which I probably would have opted out of had I known the cost. This part put my out of my financial comfort zone. Make sure you find out all the costs and don't hesitate to slow them down. The service department is hands down the best one I've been to- they are super friendly, communicate with you constantly, and the lobby area is awesome. You can comfortably work (or just relax) while you wait and they are mindful of your time. They usually wash my car too which I absolutely love. read more

I was in the market to buy a new car. I was checking out the price of a car on a website and it said to enter my information to see prices from different dealers. Apparently that was a mistake because it sent an email to about 20 dealers. The next day I got a rude email from the internet sales manager Nick Davis. It said in the subject "Thanks for reading my emails" and inside "but never responding.....". I feel like this is not a good way to get business. After I sent an email letting him know I didn't see the message, but I found it rude the way he sent that first email he continued to send two other rude emails within 3 minutes of each other. Very disappointed with my interactions with this employee and they will not have my business. read more

Friendly people, but I don't feel I got a good deal, just "OK" on new vehicle purchase. 1) Slow to refund "vehicle service plan", not refunded after two weeks. 2) Inflated dealer adds; nitrogen tires, tinted windows on car w/factory tint. An additional $900. 3) Confusing pricing summaries, price summed in a way different from method used for advertised. 4) Low-balling trade-in, as my trade-in is now advertised for sale some 35% more than price they paid me, a whopping $4500. I'm an engineer, so I was able to use spreadsheet in their show room to understand and correct their confusing price offers. But I don't feel like a got a great deal. I was probably shorted 1,000 on trade-in and unavoidable paid $500 for dealer added crap. I negotiated my best, but I am just an amateur. Love my car, not my dealer. read more

First time to Tempe Kia, great customer service I went there to get a 3rd opinion of course I didn't tell them that! It was a steering wheel issue rattling when I go over any bumps in the road! I had googled symptom and it was coming back as motor coupling in steering wheel area, of course there was a recall on it! I called to make appointment to have it replaced first available wasn't until 30 days! First Kia dealership I went to was Mark Kia, that's where I bought the car from they quoted me $400 and some dollars to have drive shaft replaced! I declined for them to do it! My gut feeling was saying they were trying to rip me off! 2nd stop was Big O's tires had some things that were done, I figure since car will be lifted maybe they can take a look to see maybe they can get me in right direction of this noise! They told me it might be my steering column, but to get a better look at it take it to dealership there may be a recall notice! Made appointment with Tempe Kia online, omg all the available appointments fantastic I don't have to wait a whole month for an appointment. Got there at 7am I was out at 830am. And guess what? Went in on whim to check out an Optima. Spoke to Sergio. Nice enough guy, seemed helpful. Showed me a test model Optima that was selling for $18995. Basically worked out a general deal working off of approx. numbers. Told him I was definitely interested and I would be back as I needed to bring my wife in to see the car. When we came back 2 days later, Sergio was busy so he had us work with an older salesman named Jimmi. WORST sales person ever! Barely spoke to us. When he did he talked down to us appeared to have no interest in selling us a car. Took us on a test drive and basically scolded us about our car situation. He also belittled our trade in which was a car we bought brand new the year before. After the test we went in to try and get the deal done. No go. Told us the deal I had worked out with Sergio wouldn't fly. Said our trade was worth 12K when 2 days earlier Sergio said around 13K to 14K. Said that we'd need $2500 down to even sniff the payment we wanted even tho 2 days prior we more or less said it could be done with $500 down. This is when Sergio came back and tried to help. The went back to the sales manager with our deal. Came back 3 min later and said there's no way they'll do the deal as is. 2 hours wasted. Before walking out, Sergio said to call him back the next day because his used car mngr might be able to help on our trade. Nope. Called back the next day and spoke to the used car mngr, Brent. He said he'd make some calls and see if the could get more for our trade. Said he'd call back in a little while with information. 6 hours pass and no response. I call to follow up, Sergio is no where to be found and doesn't answer ANY of my calls to his cell. Finally get Brent on the phone and he says he hasn't checked yet. Drove 50 miles north to Earnhardt Kia the next day, got exactly the deal we wanted in the exact same car. Polite service, FAST transaction! I've gone to Tempe Dodge/Kia 3 times prior and have never bought a car from them. Learn my lesson without going in this place, HORRID DEALERSHIP! read more

Not totally happy with the experience. First when I went on-line to look at the car, I was asked to make an offer, and they never responded. The test drive went OK. and when we sat down to do the deal, they started playing games trying to gouge more money out of me. Typical game of OK, let me run it by my manager, and then after a short visit with his buddies, he came back with an insult after I had said I would do the deal for the price agreed upon. At that point I said I would have to think about it and call him the next day and he immediately said "well if I can get the extra money (to which I had already agreed) would I do the deal?" Since I had previously said yes and because, unlike them, I am a man of my word. I did the deal. Less than an ideal experience but better than it could have been. Still not totally sure I should not have walked away. I did get a response a couple of days after I first posted this review. They asked what could be done to make things right. Since I only got one key, I asked about a spare key. This is just a basic key, no electronics/fob, etc. Have not heard back from them. Apparently a 2 or 3 dollar key is too much to ask. It is really sad that they make all sort of noise about being customer focused but then treat the customers as if they all had a room temperature, or lower, IQ. read more

I would strongly advise against purchasing from this dealership. There are many other options to choose from in that area. Their service department is horrible, I had an appointment at 8am for an oil change and to get my brakes checked on my Kia Soul. They said they would call me at 10, but no phone call. I called and left a message and they still hadn't returned my call so I drove over there. Low and behold they hadn't even started on my vehicle, what a shocker. What's the point of scheduling appointments when you can't even come close to following them. I'm very concerned about the noise my brakes have been making and I'm worried it's a safety hazard. The noise was there before and after changing the pads and rotors btw so obviously it's a bigger problem like a manufacturer defect, another reason not to buy one of these cars among other issues I've had in the past. read more

I have given this dealership multiple chances to rectify the current complaint I have. I received an email from the Dealership manager the same day I submitted my formal complaint in writing (after several complaints via phone) and was told "we will be calling you shortly" but don't worry that was 3 days ago. I wanted to give the manager a chance to "correct this situation" like his email ensured before adding this review to Yelp. But I truly would like to warn other customers before they purchase a vehicle from this dealership. I would give them a zero star rating if it was possible. I purchased a vehicle on June 6, 2015 and could not be more disappointed. This was the farthest thing from an honest deal. The vehicle I was interested in purchasing had just arrived to the lot and not been officially listed for sale. However, it also had a stain on the driver seat and chips in the windshield. I very adamantly stated I wouldn't buy the vehicle in this state and was reassured the vehicle would be taken care of. My salesperson, Doug, even admitted "we wouldn't put this vehicle on the lot in this condition. We will take care of everything". He assured me they would repair the windshield appropriately and the chips would not be visible, "the glass guys decide what to do, but don't worry we will take care of it". The words said by my salesperson, Doug, did not match what was written on my "we owe" form. I was assured someone from the Service Department would call me within 7 business days. No one ever reached out to contact me regarding the repairs that were promised to be done during the purchase of the vehicle. I should have known then they had no intention of keeping their word and replacing the windshield as verbally promised. Despite all this, I made sure to reach out to the service department myself, and set up an appointment. At the time of service the chip was "glued" and still visible. When vocalizing my complaint, the Service Department employee, Crystal, stated the discrepancy in repair would have to be discussed with a sales manager. The following Tuesday to discuss I called a sales manager to discuss the issue but unfortunately I was unable to obtain his name because he was clearly annoyed by me and making no effort to effectively communicate. While he argued with me informing me several times I was wrong he finally appeased me with the answer that he would "look into this and call me back before th end of the business day". 48 hours went by and I finally called back myself and spoke with someone who I thought was ethical and would take care of this issue. Again, I was wrong. Later that day I received a phone call from Doug who insisted I was not telling the truth and that he never said, "they would take care of the windshield". I had a witness with me for each time I visited the dealership and each phone call. This dealership is not honest or ethical and when called out on their dishonesty their reaction is to blame the customer. I'm disappointed in not only the dealership, but myself for thinking this dealership had ethical salespeople where their words are supported by their actions. Like Melanie if I could give this dealership less than one star I would. In our case everything went well until we went to pick up our new car. We were told the car would be inside waiting for us, when we got there it was outside, no big deal. Our substitute salesman offered to pull it inside to go over it, we declined thinking it would take just a couple minutes outside and we would be on our way. To cut to the chase, the salesman didn't wait to move another vehicle in the way and drove our new car off the curb and messed up the front fascia. The salesman and Manager tried to brush it off as no big deal. When they offered to patch and paint the fascia and not replace it, we got our money back and shredded the deal and they didn't even care. I had my car for ONE WEEK and it stalled out in an intersection. I was so irritated and drove it right back in and the response was Oh the computer chip needs to be updated ....Little did I know that this was the beginning of all my problems with them. I have had my car stall out numerous times, I have had my radio and back-up camera freeze up as well and also the downhill assist mode came on when I was driving on a flat highway! What kind of POS cars do you sell? I mean seriously...my trade in had less problems. I am currently going after them as a lemon law case and they had the nerve to offer me a pathetic amount for my troubles! I want you to take back this crap car and let me have my money back so I can go elsewhere...until then I will continue to fight! They said $318. So we left without the car. I cannot believe they were willing to lose a sell over $18!!! Ohh I almost forgot Tempe Kia was advertising a $25 gift card with every test drive. I did not get anything even though I told them. I called 2 weeks later and asked if we were going to receive a gift card. I went for an oil change and the guy told me That I had a slow leak in my tire and it was "unrepairable" so I had to buy a whole new tire. I declined and took my car over to discount tire and they took one look at it and said we can fix this no problem and we can do it for free. I informed " GIBI" of the unfortunate situation. He had " Big G" handle the paperwork and he was kind and efficient. This process is never easy with a special needs child. He sent me all the figures by email that we agreed on to save time. We walked in, no bait and switch, no up sale, just took care of of my daughter, was patient with my Granddaughter and did everything to correct the situation my daughter was in. I've had my kia serviced at other kia places and have less than satisfactory experiences. I'm so glad I came to the Tempe location. Paula was amazing right away, very upbeat and happy and greeted me with excitement. I came in for basic things and they found a bunch of recalls and also noted my car was still under warranty which covered repairs to many of my concerns. They explained everything along the way and moved quickly to get the stuff done in a short amount of time before they closed. I was considering purchasing a different vehicle but based on the great experience I had today I will 100 percent be looking into replacing my current kia with a new kia. 10/10, 5 stars. read more

If you really want a Jeep go to another dealership in the valley. They ripped my front passenger seat while I was signing my lease papers (it's been over a month and they just called me to schedule an appointment to fix my seat). In addition to other car issues I never expected to have with a brand new car, I have had to sign the contract papers twice and still have to complete a loan interview with their finance agency. What!?!? I Everyone from sales to customer service avoids my calls, voicemails and emails since day one. I believe in giving second chances but not in 5th or 6th chances. Updade. They fixed my seat (horribly), but when I went to pick up the SUV it took them 30 minutes to tell me my vehicle was in an accident. They complete crashed the back of my SUV!! Told me they couldn't give me a new one and fixed it. Now, my engine light has turned on. Buying a Jeep from this dealership has been the worst purchase ever. Interesting story about Tempe Kia. On Saturday, October 28 at approximately 9 AM, I called Tempe Kia and ask to speak with someone in the fleet department. I received a voice message and left a message for a gentleman ( I won't mention his name) to call me back. I indicated to him that we had just sold our car and was looking to purchase a Kia today. I never received a call back. I called Tempe Kia again about two hours later and no one ever answered the phone at all. So my wife and I got in my truck and went to Horne Kia in Gilbert and purchased a Kia Sportage LE. Two days later, I thought the general sales manager might be interested to hear that they lost a sale because 1) they didn't return a phone call and 2) they didn't answer the phone at all.I left a voice message for the general sales manager. 30 hours later she hasn't returned my call either. I guess Tempe Kia is really not interested in selling cars and serving their customers! I would highly recommend Horne Kia. They were phenomenal in every way during our car purchase. read more

They are doing a dirty business from a director to managers. I was negotiating via email. The sales director (Mike Breyfogle) lured me with a dirty bait (cheap OTD price) then I wasted 3 hrs before realizing that it is a shit. They just told me it is just a simple mistake. Even Mike did not showed up and did not apolozied to me. I felt I was in a group of scam. Be careful. One of their mechanism is to make customers wait on the seat for more than 20 min. They are killing time somewhere. Don't wait. Just ask any person around you to call the manager. I have met a relatively honest manager in the Rodeo Kia. Yesterday, I have got a good deal with their general manager. But, when i contacted again, a manager was not sure about that. If they change mind, I am going to the Carmax. I met with Tim, Ricardo and Chuck yesterday. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to finalize a lease (through no fault of their own). Chuck, the manager I believe, was an incredibly fair man who was willing to work with us to get to a price that would work. Tim and Ricardo, the salesmen, were fantastic. They were very helpful and knowledgeable and did everything they could to make our experience as smooth as possible. We had had a bad experience earlier at another dealership in the valley and these guys totally turned our experience around. So I've only ever worked with the service department and part / tech personnel: based on that, they are absolutely outstanding. Never have had an issue with any warranty work, or regular services, anything with out car. They always take care of the issues, communicate the whole process, ask for permission before just charging away at repairs. They also are very clear when I drop the car off the timeline minimum for repairs and always ensure I get dropped back off with their shuttle or a Lyft in a super timely manner. Stay away from this joke of a dealership!!! My daughters father bought a 2015 Kia Soul with 9000 miles on it on 6/27/16. He drove it off the lot at 10:00 p.m. At 4:30 p.m. 6/28/16 (less than 24 hours following the purchase) the car died in the middle of the road. He immediately contacted the dealership who referred him to the Kia hotline to coordinate towing the car to their service center. They informed him that he has to be with the vehicle. They initially gave him a wait time of 3 hours - so roughly 7:30. He was getting recorded messages from Kia regarding the tow trucks arrival time but the dealership didn't give the towing company all of the information needed so they didn't schedule it. Confused? Yeah so are we. Well the dealership gave the towing company incomplete information the first time then gave the wrong phone number when they attempted a second communication. Bottom line - tow truck NEVER SHOWED UP following multiple requests and communications!!?? Waited with the car (that he was told to stay with) until 11:30 pm and they never came to tow it to the service center. So it's now sitting in a parking lot. The dealership also informed him that since the service center was closed a loaner car or rental would not be available for him to drive so he's missing work tomorrow. Now let's remember the service center was open when he made the initial call. The fact that this dealership allowed a new customer to be stranded in the dangerous Phx heat in the middle of the day in a broken down car they sold less than 24 hours prior to the breakdown is disturbing at best. It borders on inhumane. People were stopping to give water and finally enough people stopped to help him push the car to a nearby parking lot where it sits now. It was 113 degrees. Amazing. Thanks for nothing Kia Tempe. Go down the road to Toyota or Honda if you wanna a good car and decent customer service. These guys are a joke. read more

Major bait and switch artists. Never get service there. They add 5 things you need to do and charge twice what other places do. They smile at you and act nicely, then stab you in the back as soon as they can. Claimed they knew nothing about a seat belt recall years ago so they wouldn't have to fix it. Also, my cruise control went out at 59,997 miles. They said it was under warranty and to bring it down. I live 12 miles away. Got there and they told me warranty was no good as I was over 60,000. Cheapo dirtbags! I literally had to threaten them with posting a 1 page ad in the Arizona Republic explaining exactly how they treated me. The best they would do is pay for the cruise control unit and I had to cover the installation. I even went through the national Kia offices and they refused to intervene. Not only avoiding this place like the plague, I will never ever buy a Kia again. read more

I would never ever recommend Tempe Kia to anyone. At the beginning it was fine. Although our sales person continued to take cell phone calls, text and smoke the entire time. We were looking for a more economic car, better gas mileage etc. We had both of our cars paid off and thought it wouldn't hurt to upgrade. after driving for a grand total of 3 minutes, I was back on the lot and he asked what I thought. Over all I liked the car but had questions because I didn't get too much time in the vehicle. I checked with our sales person to make sure we had cruise control he assured us we did, and we have it in writing signed by the person who did the final inspection of the vehicle, and they said that signed document didn't mean anything because I had a paper with the specs. Needless to say I found out the very next day (after purchasing the vehicle) there was no cruise control. I called them and told them this is not okay, they should work with me and figure this out. They turned into rude awful people. They say they are a family owned local business that wants returning and happy customers. Well if that is the owners goal then they need to fire everyone and start over. I have never been treated so rudely. They offered us a year of oil changes. (Thanks but two oil changes at $15 a pop doesn't cover being lied to.) He then said he would give us $300, I again said I need you to do more. I drive 15 hours a week $300 is not going to fix my daily hassle of not having a feature that was supposed to be on the product you sold me. They refused to take calls at the dealership and would only return my calls from their cell phone, convenient they aren't recorded, and then they told me the GM wont offer me more than $200. really? So, apparently now, taking care of their customers is becoming less and less important. To make matters worse I am a full time student and getting student loans (as a nanny that isn't easy) and they sent my loan app into a half dozen or more banks and credit unions, this is after getting financed through them, and now my credit score looks awful. They then had the gall to tell me it wasn't easy to finance me and I would probably not get financed anywhere else... but I can return the car if I want. Awesome, right? I am so enraged with these people. The rude behavior and lack of honesty was repulsive and so unprofessional.I highly recommend going anywhere else but there. I did call KIA and filed a formal complaint against the dealership. read more
