We have used Ted's for 20 years and they are simply old school, honest, and do good work. All my family uses Ted's (8 cars in all) and are always pleased with the service. He doesn't recommend service you don't need. We drive our cars a LONG time and prefer to "repair" rather than "replace" so Ted's is a godsend. Ted's Automotive is old school business and customer service. Recently had my SUV in for a noisy front wheel. After checking, brakes were good but had a couple of minor issues that didn't require parts. Ted's mechanic took care of everything and Ted did not charge me for time or labor. I insisted that I pay, and he refused. I've been taking our vehicles to him for several years and will continue doing so. I would recommend anyone in the area to go to Ted's for your repairs. Had a great experience with Ted's Automotive. As a female, I'm always leery of mechanics because they see someone like me and see dollar signs. I know zero about cars and I must have that written all over my face. I was referred to this shop by three friends of mine, all female, and each attested to great service and reasonable prices. You may meet the owner Ted or his son Gary when you go there. Ted will tell you about how his shop was there in the 60's and there was nothing around him but dirt. Obviously he loves his work as a mechanic, and is extremely good at it. In the past he has helped me right over the phone, telling me what to try before bringing it in an paying anything. When you go in the shop, you'll see a lot of stuffed animals and hunting and fishing magazines. You'll also see some signs to abolish the IRS! They really make you feel comfortable and trusting in there work. And you should, because they do good work at a fair price. I had my brakes done, and also they replaced my rotors. I've had nothing but excellent experiences with Ted's. I bring my 2000 Mazda 626 over there with harder to diagnose problems. I had my car aligned there after I had another shop put some new struts on it. Ted was using a special piece of metal that he had welded-up that helped him keep the steering on-point while doing the alignment. He was showing me the before and after alignment measurements on his iPhone and explaining to what degree it was off the mark on various measurements. On one occasion I brought the car in with a faint but audible metallic rattle emitting from in front of the driver. Two shops down by where I work had said that they couldn't hear it. The guy at Ted's admitted he could hear it though it seemed like he kinda didn't want to because he had no clue what it was. They called later and said it was a coupling ring where the exhaust flex-pipe connects to the engine and that it seemed to be designed to keep the flex pipe from fraying. He said you could replace the whole flex-pipe, but that that was probably over-kill, and that the the easiest solution was for them to cut that loose ring off with a torch. They did that. Haven't had a problem since and haven't had to listen to that rattle and wonder if there was a problem under the hood about to blow up. read more

When people tell me they have auto problems -- I always refer them to Ted's. Car repairs are never cheap but these guys are always less expensive than the dealership and you get the same high quality level of work, parts and service. Ted and Gary took care of my Tahoe for 10 years and kept it running long past its life. The only reason I haven' been to them recently is my new Yukon hasn't needed a bit of service except oil changes and tires. The only negative (if there is one) is you don't really wait there for a repair to get done -- you have to drop off your vehicle and come back in a day or two depending on what kind of work is being done. I NEVER give 5 stars, but Ted's has earned it. Totally trustworthy. I've had bad experiences at Pep Boys, Midas, Just Brakes, overpriced dealerships and even the oil change places (which now try to sell unnecessary repairs). I will NOT go anyplace else but Ted's now. SERIOUSLY. One of the other comments says his prices are "not cheap" (which I guess is why that guy gave 4 stars). I don't see it that way. They fix what really needs to be fixed, and the prices are what they are (but way better than dealership's prices!). I KNOW they've saved me a TON of money. I also saw several comments from females who trust Ted's. That's good. But there are plenty of guys too who don't know that much about cars anymore because they are more complex today (the cars, not the guys). read more

Ted's business card says "Honesty-Something Rare" and he isn't kidding. I stopped by today and met Ted's son Gary. I told him I'd read great reviews for his business on Yelp and AList. I was only wanting some answers at this point about possible brake repairs on my Ford Edge. I wasn't sure if I needed repairs or not. Gary explained the cost if I were to need a complete brake repair. I agreed I would bring my vehicle back shortly after 1 pm for the evaluation. Gary called me about 2:30 and told me my brakes were in good shape and no repairs were needed. I was shocked, at this because in my opinion most shops would have done the complete brake overhaul, and I would have never known I didn't need one. I asked what I owed for the "brake check" and Gary replied "nothing, we do free brake checks all the time." Still amazed at all of this, when I picked up my vehicle I again asked if I owed anything. the answer was the same "no we do free brake checks all the time." This is 2016 folks, and this is old school way of doing business. I will go to Ted's if and when I think or know I might need repairs done. So Pissed!!! I took my 2004 Volvo S80 to Gary. I told him I had just bought the car and there was a popping noise. He told me the car needed new struts. $1300.00 I asked him to check and make sure if the car had ever been wrecked or had other damage. He said no. I paid for new struts, rear shocks, and front end alignment. I left and it still popped. He said I may need a ball joint, but I explained to him the ball joint had just been replaced by the dealer. I have moved to California and have been chasing this pop since day 1. After replacing damn near the WHOLE front end suspension, come to find out, the POP was from the strut mount that was bent from when it was installed originally. Thanks Gary and Ted's Auto, you helped cost me over $5K in unneeded repairs. If you have work done with these guys. Inspect the work. Ask to see your old parts, and find out if there are core charges that they get refunds on. They charge 300% mark upon the parts. Do you DD before trusting these guys! read more
