I took my Land Cruiser in before Thanksgiving because my headlights were flickering and going out. Robert called me and told me that my radiator was leaking and needed to be replaced. He replaced it and said that he will need to rewire my headlights bc everything was wet from the leak. He told me all this could be done in a day, so I dropped my car off at 8am. Around 4 I called to check in and he said they were just now getting around to looking at my headlights..... He kept my car for a few days and finally when I went to get it my right headlight was fixed but my left one was not. I texted Robert that it was still flickering and without even needing to look at it he said he will order a part and let me know when it gets in after Thanksgiving. I believe he said the part was a relay, but not sure bc he doesn't write any itemized receipts for customers. He also charged me an extra $100 for new light bulbs without my consent. I took my car back last week for them to install the part and paid $245 for it. it didn't fix it... it's like they didn't even try bc if they did they would have turned on my headlights and seen it was flickering... honestly my fault for not checking at the shop. A nice man from my apartment building works on European cars and offered to look at it. He figured out the problem in 10min. Ordered me a part and fixed it in my parking garage lol All that to say, I'm very disappointed in this shop. read more

Had high hopes for this place based on previous reviews but all THREE times I have been here Robert Knapp has failed to pay attention to details. Doesn't matter if you email him, text him, tell him face-to-face, or write down an itemized list of what you need for services. He won't pay attention and you'll end up being overcharged for services you didn't ask for. I was charged twice for "fixes" I didn't ask for or need. No apology, no accountability. And the last time I was there we spoke on the phone and confirmed things to be done and the guy just literally chose not to do them? Wtf? Clown wanted me to come in to charge me more money with zero context or accountability on why he didn't pay attention, didn't read the itemized list, lied to my face saying he understood what I needed let alone an apology because what's customer service when you've been doing low bar business for "30 years." It's 2025... for some weird reason Robert isn't capable of texting or leaving a voicemail with details on what issues are so you have to speak to him to get any clue of what's going on with your vehicle and as I said, ALL THREE TIMES he either charged me for something I didn't need or completely ignored my specific requests. Don't know wtf that's about. He seems to be more focused on telling sh¡tty jokes that may have been funny in his prime, or too worried understanding non-binary and trans people to pay attention to details and has his rotating mechanics perform the work that's actually requested. From my experience the 2 mechanics in the back are doing as they are told... which if you haven't gathered by now, there's some issue with communication from email to text to verbal specification to an itemized list. Anyway, like I said... had high hopes. But unfortunately this spot is surrounded by competitors that actually pay attention to detail and don't charge you for things you don't ask for without communicating. Communication, fail. Attention to detail, fail. Ps... no one cares about your opinions on pronouns. Get a hobby? Practice listening to your customers. Put some actual effort into paying attention to detail. Also, next time your mechanic has an issue with you not paying him properly be professional and have that discussion in private and don't force customers to sit there and watch you treat your staff like trash, pal. Had a great experience here. Dropped off my truck at 1pm because it wasn't turning on despite getting a new battery installed somewhere else. Thought it might be a deeper issue. They looked it over and turned out it was a simple fix which they did and charged me accordingly and very reasonably. Had the truck back same day. I stopped at a nearby 7-11 to air up my tires. Of course the air pump didn't work. When i started the car to leave. the gear shift wouldn't shift gears, and the car was stuck in Reverse. I was stranded. Rode my bicycle to nearby Knapp. The proprietor Robert diagnosed the problem from my description and said it was a simple fix. He gave me the number of a tow company. Three hours later the tow truck arrived and we discovered the battery was dead. The tow operator was very helpful and managed to get my car to Knapp within an hour. (They deserve a 5 star rating for service, but there was a dispute with Knapp about the price and the tow charge wound up costing double what he understood it would be. ) We dropped the car off at Knapp after hours, along with the fob in the dropbox. By noon the next day, the car was repaired and the charge was very reasonable. Knapp had even aired up the tires. read more

This shop is wonderful!! I got towed to the Pep Boys next door because that was the only place open at the time I needed assistance. They quoted me a ridiculous amount and the next morning I called around and got a quote from Knapp at a significantly better price for the repairs I needed. And he could get me in and out that day! They helped jump my car that was left at Pep Boys and bring it over to their shop. All of the workers were so kind and helpful. I absolutely recommend this shop! I went to Knapp when my passenger front window got stuck rolled down, they were able to get me in the same morning I called, took a look, gave me a quote I told me they could fix it within the same day. The owner was there during my visit and he was such a friendly guy, I never felt like I was going to get screwed by paying too much or anything like I'm afraid of at most car places. I would HIGHLY recommend going here for any car needs. They got me in and out the same day and gave me a discount off of the original price he quoted me, I will be returning for any future car issues I have. Also, as a woman coming back alone to pick my car up, when I arrived, the owner and several of the other male workers were standing outside waiting for me patiently because they noticed a man walking around the nearby area that appeared to be very out of it/on drugs and wanted to be out there when I arrive incase the man tried to approach me. This is a very trustworthy and knowledgeable mechanic. Rob and his guys have gone way out of their way numerous times to help me. I first met him when I was in a pinch with a leaky brake line right before leaving for a trip and he had me in and out in just a couple of hours without any notice. Now that I am having problems with my emissions he has helped me to save as much money as possible including lots of free advice. I had a broken hood latch when I went in there one day to have my codes read and one of his guys fixed it for me without my even mentioning it. They're just really great people in there. Do not trust them. Today is March 25, 2020. I put my car and SUV in their shop over a month ago. They made promises they could not keep on turn around time and still did not fix my SUV when I drove it off their lot. My other car needed the engine replaced so I had to pay half deposit up front. After a month, they still did not have the engine and my high profile car still sits in their parking lot unprotected from theft. Because of this and the way they handled my SUV, I fired this shop. I have tried to get my deposit refunded for a week and the owner Robert Knapp only replies with excuses or no reply at all. Unbelievably good service! I went in to have my brakes done and found out my brake line was busted. And right next to it, my fuel line was leaking and rusted. Pep Boys said it'd be 1200 just for the fuel line (F that) so I was expecting something ridiculous. Roger said he knew a guy that could make the lines and had it done that day. I picked it up in the morning working just fine and it cost me a fraction of what it would have elsewhere. Really good people, great work, and all around just a great experience.
