I took my car in for repair and understood the $180.00 per hour diagnostic fee. After having my car for a couple of days they said they needed two more hours time to diagnose the issue. I authorized the additional two hours and had no request for more time. When I got the bill they had charged me for five and a half more hours at $180.00 without authorization! Speaks with a tone that is just not customer friendly. Basically, just puts people off, I think. If you have more than 1 car to use then this place is good for you. We dropped it off and were advised that they needed 2 days to get to our car. 9 days later, I was begging Jeff in the office to please start work on our car. There must be a better way to manage acceptance of cars and work load. The red Rolls Royce has been there for over a month and it takes up a bay. A 1950's red Cadillac was in the far right bay. A truck was being worked on by a mechanic in the middle bay. There are lots of cars at this facility waiting to be served. Steve is the nicest man. I think he owns the place. Their diagnostic work is excellent. Be prepared to pay for every part change item as you go through the diagnostic process. AES has agreed to resolve my issue and me a refund. I don't know if the issues I have were a misunderstanding or something else. The original review is below. The trailer plug on my van stopped working. I took the vehicle in and they did a $180 diagnostic, over the phone they said the repair would be $1700 repair. My response was, I want a report or something in writing stating what was wrong and I was going to pick up the vehicle and take it to the dealer. When I picked up the van, I again asked for the report/ or writing details of what was wrong. In writing, they said they "suspected damage to the trailer wiring harness or the trailer connector" I asked if they tested the trailer connections at the plug, and they said they could not because the trailer module will not provide power unless it's plugged into a trailer and they don't have the correct tool. ( they wanted me to bring the trailer to them) I tested the trailer plug with a meter when I got it back home ( the trailer connector was loose) The two individuals I spoke with were Jeff and Terry the technician. I would never bring my vehicle back here, I would not recommend or trust this business. ( Just so you know, I used to work on cars, and I have always hated working on my own, I could have fixed this originally but I really just wanted to find a place to be honest with me and treat me fairly... that's not this place) read more

Do NOT GO HERE ThEY ARE LIARS and SCAMMERS. Took my car here to get diagnosed the price went from $180, to $700, to $806 just to DIAGNOSIS. The reason because "they have to take my seats up" to see the water damage and see what all was burned out electrical. Get a call after having my cancer for nearly 2 weeks. It's gonna cost $4000 to fix. I said well what's wrong with it JEFF said needs some modules. I said which ones I'll order them myself and pay you guys the labor to cut the price. "Ohhh we don't take outside parts and we also have to " re wire ur car beacuse it's a 2012 and they don't make the harness anymore". I guess he thought because I'm a female I'm an airhead lol. My dad's a mechanic and my grandfather is the inventor of interchangeable car parts so when it comes to cars u can't play with me. I get my car back and I have custom seat covers that I INSTALLed and tied them under the seats with a hair tie. Well what's wrong do u know the seats and covers are EXACTLY like I left them. They never removed anything but my trunk spare tire cover. THEY ARE LIARS and SCAMMERS. Took my 4Runner to the shop to try and get some electrical gremlins out of the way. The symptoms were erratic so it took them about 4-5 days to diagnose. I was able to have my car back by the end of the week. Another issue popped up as I was driving home (not sure if it was related to the initial repair or not) but they took care of it the following Monday without issue. Labor rates are a little higher than a general mechanics shop, but lower than a dealership, since they specialize on electrical issues only. My repair definitely wasn't cheap, but unfortunately with electrical issues, the time it takes to remove everything and re-install takes time so the labor often eclipses the cost of the parts. Overall, a pretty good (albeit wallet emptying) experience. Note: the parking is definitely tight here. A game of tetris it is. It's only been a day since I got my 4Runner back, so we'll see if anything explodes in the near future. So far so good! read more

2018 Subaru WRX code u0100 loss com to ecm/PCM. I had the car at two different Subaru dealerships one said at first the battery then told me it had fault to ground and didn't even give me a quote. I then took it to another dealership they said they would get on it the next day. It sat there for four days and they haven't even touched it. I asked what's the deal the service writer said I am getting my best guy on it. They then sente a email to trade the car in. The next day I showed up with the trailer he then told me again he was getting his best mechanic on it which he developed a gear and sold it to Subaru his exact words I knew then Iade the right choice to pull the car from them. I then took it AES and they didn't bs around with me and fixed my car within 1day this very stressful for my wife due to her mother passing away on cruise ship off the coast of Ireland. I called Auto Electric Systems for an estimate to replace a battery cable and described the exact issue my car was having. Brian told me that he couldn't give a quote over the phone and to bring my car in. I should have left after driving up and noticing a hoarding of probably 50 or more cars, which made it difficult to even drive up to the business. I had already had a quote by the Subaru dealership for less than $350. AES wanted to charge damn near $900! For a car battery and cable? Including a non-refundable "diagnostic fee" of $127 that was NEVER discussed prior to trusting AES with my vehicle. The parts for this repair, including a premium car battery, are at most $300. Where they get off attempting to charge $600 for labor and diagnostic on an 18-year-old vehicle is beyond me. I left feeling that AES had other priorities and did not want to do the work. It cost me $127 to learn this business inflates their prices and doesn't disclose the amount they charge to give a quote. I am beyond disappointed! read more

I was quoted 1500$ to replace the computer board, because it was "supposedly" shorting out. I wanted to get a second opinion, since 1500$ is alot! Turns out it was just my key fab and it was 150$ to replace.... They will try to take advantage of you...especially women BEWARE! My Silverado wouldn't start, a nearby mechanic replaced the fuel pump. The very next day, my truck would run for about 10 minutes and stall, (no codes). I took my Cutlass in for a wiring job and a tune up. Everybody I spoke to was extremely friendly and helpful. They were able to rewire my entire electrical system (which it badly needed), and the tune up really woke the car up. We had a terrible experience with these guys. The amount of time that it took them to diagnose the problem incorrectly and then the amount of extra time "waiting on parts" was ridiculous. The first time I picked the truck up it still wasn't fixed due to a "bad replacement part". The second time, another part was needed. The third time it seemed to be working but the quality if the work was less than stellar. The process drug on for months. I would wait for a week without hearing back from them and would finally get a "it will be ready in two days" which it never was. They mangled multiple pieces of trim inside my car and I ended up having to put some of the interior back together myself. I am not sure how complicated the problem really was as nothing they did gave me any confidence that they knew what was really going on or how to fix it. The problem has re-occurred after only 3 months and there is no way that I am taking my truck back to these guys for another shot at it. read more

I drive a 1995 Toyota 4runner that has 600,000+ miles. My shift ended at work so I got in my truck to head home but my truck wouldn't start. I was stranded in the parking lot so I called Auto Electric Systems to see if they could help as they're located near my workplace. Even though I didn't have an appointment and they were minutes from closing AES came to the rescue and called a towing company and got my truck towed to their shop. I was referred to this shop by my Firestone. After calling and speaking with the manager "Junior", I got a preconceived notion that the place was shady to begin with but I trusted my Firestone and took my car anyways. The place had zero parking places upon arrival and was told by a hefty man with glasses to just leave it where ever I could fit it and offered no help as he walked back towards the building not even looking back when he spoke. After finally getting out of there, I waited for their call. Junior was the person who called back and gave me a shockingly large estimate...mind you, one of my turn signal bulbs was not working. The estimate went well over $1200 and again, I felt like something wasn't right here. So I returned to the shop and paid their diagnostic fee and left with my car. I have a friend who once worked for Ford and so he offered to look at it so I took it to his shop. He admitted he wasn't an "electrical specialist" but it I figured it couldn't hurt anything. One hour after the vehicle was dropped off at my friends shop, he calls me back and explains that the problem was the wrong bulb was installed into the socket and that's why it wasn't flashing. This made since because four days before, I replaced my brake light bulb myself and obviously just put the wrong bulb in! I generally don't get online and leave reviews about places wether good or bad but I was so amazed at how these people were literally trying to steal that much money from me because of a WRONG BULB! I called the Firestone back and told them about the issue I had with AES and hopefully nobody else becomes a helpless victim by these thieves. I advise everyone else who reads this to not take their vehicle here as well! read more

Interestingly enough, they didn't find an issue with my car's electrical system. But, they talked with me about monitoring it moving forward and what to watch for, and in addition they made suggestions to ensure my family's usage isn't inadvertently draining the battery (been going through them too quickly). They also gave great advice on a portable multi-use battery I could get for emergencies etc....and that made me feel much better about road trips.
