The shop was cute, but they were fitting a lot into a little space too. I ordered a black iced coffee. I asked what they used and they just told me it was a medium roast. I assume that means they're using a blend of some sort since you would tend to highlight a high end Single Origin coffee if somebody asked. In any event, service was friendly and efficient. The iced coffee was above average. Smooth. Drinkable. No aftertaste. But it didn't really have any of the flavors of a high end coffee used for iced coffee. Four Stars

The Bean Coffee Roasters is located off of Route 10 in a small plaza with a few other businesses. There's plenty of parking in the lot. The restaurant itself is pretty small, with only a few tables to eat at. Most of the people ahead of me in line were ordering their drinks/food to-go. I had seen a Raspberry White Chocolate Latte posted on their Instagram page as a special for Valentine's Day, and asked the girl behind the counter if she could make it for me. She happily checked to make sure they still had all the correct ingredients, and luckily they did! As someone who is not a huge coffee fan, I thought it tasted delicious! They also use coffee cubes in all of their iced coffee drinks, which I thought was pretty cool (no more watered down coffee!) In addition to coffee and tea, they also had a variety of smoothies on their menu, which all sounded good, in addition to breakfast sandwiches and some baked goods. Brown Stone had the same vibe and feel as soon as we went In. I loved seeing the locals and the staff immediately greeted us and attended to us, bringing some coffee. Breakfast items are relatively simple, nothing fancy here, nor were we looking for it. I just wanted a good meal. I ordered the avocado and ham omelette special and my wife the egg and Belgian waffle. Breakfast came out quick, hot, and good! I was pleasantly surprised, and should not have been so judgy. It seems to be a Bethany tradition to do this. You know what I'm talkin' 'bout, folks. As far as their pizza goes, from an old New Haven guy, it's decent. It's really not "abeets" but I'm pleased to have this place in town nonetheless. They do a good job, and it's way easier than driving 1/2 hour each way and bringing home cold pizza. What I'm here to highlight though is the rest of their menu. The antipasto and salads are very good. The calzones are obscenely huge. I haven't been through everything on the menu, but there is a lot more to choose from than you might expect. Give it a try. It'll probably be good. And if you like Foxon Park soda, they have the best selection around. Even the elusive Iron Brew and Gassosa.
