The food is always fresh and delicious! They really know what they are doing in the kitchen. I have never had a bad meal here. I highly recommend this place read more

The spot resembles a local dive bar, with a bar full of regulars, and everyone chatting and having a great time. We stopped in on a Thursday evening, and there was even live music that night. We have heard great things about the wings, and that's what we were here for! We tried five or six flavors and they were all cooked perfectly. Little crisp on the outside but juicy on the inside. My only complaint is that I would've preferred the sauced wings, a little saucier, but I know for next time to just ask for extra sauce. One flavor was on the milder side and wasn't my favorite, but it's also something that my husband picked out and I would not have ordered so we will let that one pass. Lol We did not sit at the bar, but our server was the bartender, and she was very helpful both in giving us information about the history of the family owned restaurant, and about wing sauces and food choices and she even made my husband a martini with blue cheese stuffed olives, even though she said that is not on the menu and no one has asked that before. She was happy to put on a pair of gloves and stuff some olives for him. read more

Awesome place!!! Neighborhood bar with great vibe, great service and really awesome food. They do wing special on Wednesday nights and if you go during happy hour they have a wheel you can spin for 2$ and you can win % off your bill, free shot, bartenders choice etc.. Really cool!!! They have a soup flight that is served with a grilled cheese, so so good especially when one of the soups is a tomato bisque. Totally recommend, looking forward to going again soon. read more

My family and I have always enjoyed our meals at Jimmie's! Staff is great and always very friendly. And the prices are just right for a family of 4. read more

Great takeout! We've ordered here a few times and loved it. I got buffalo chicken salad (added steak too) which was nice leafy greens, fresh creamy Gorgonzola, a lot of red onions added a bite which I liked. Great quality Ingredients, chicken tastes homemade. Only complaint was one time it didn't taste like buffalo, it was sweet, probably just a mistake but it was still good! Philly Egg rolls are good! I like that the wrappers aren't thick, fresh and delicious. Side of Mac was good also. Pasta was a little al dente for my liking but I warmed it up read more

Went to Jimmies on Wednesday which is when they have their wing special. Wings were pretty good but the fries looked like they were heated up in the microwave. Not crispy at all. I am not one to complain or send my food back. Maybe it was just an of day. I would go back. read more

Three and a half stars - just a basic bar with food, at least with what we had today, though we did talk about going back for their wings as there's a big selection of flavors and appeared to be popular! We ordered a couple of cocktails, the salmon BLT which was good, the fish was cooked nicely but the bun was a basic hamburger bun, the breakfast burger was huge and cooked as ordered and the fries were seasoned and tasty. Our biggest issue was the Mac and cheese which was very basic - nothing special and actually had to be sent back to the kitchen as it was cold inside, so clearly wasn't cooked fresh. The bartender/server singlehandedly served the whole place at a busy lunch time! She was amazing and handled everything politely and professionally! As I said we'll be back for wings but this was sadly nothing special unless maybe it's your local bar! read more

Love this place! The food, the service, the vibe, the drink, reasonable prices, a staff and an owner that will go out of their way to accommodate and even support our community through donations, sponsorship, etc. Love this hard working, give back, group that always make eating here, and being here a special occasion. read more

I visited Jimmie's Place because I'm hitting all the best CT Wing Spots, and I heard Jimmie's is way up there. Unfortunately, I think they likely had an off day. First of all, the bar/restaurant is very cool and it's located across from the Seymour train stop. It seemed like a bunch of regulars were hanging out and they clearly like Jimmie's. Also, my server was very friendly and welcoming. Although Jimmie's had many good looking items on the menu, I was just there for the wings. I ordered 6 Cherry Teriyaki, 6 Buffalo Gorgonzola and 6 Garlic Lime Ranch. I had a good view of the kitchen. I had seen the owner interviewed before and my impression is that he's a hands on food guy. I did not see him in the restaurant that day. The people cooking in the kitchen seemed like they may have been less experienced than some shifts. So here's the good. The wings were obviously fresh and meaty. The outer texture was good. Some of the wings were a bit dry on the inside, but within normal ranges. The Buffalo Gorgonzola flavor was very good. Tasty Buffalo base. The Gorgonzola brought a cool vibe. Neither of the other wing flavors were appropriately sauced. Either they didn't add enough sauce to the bowl. And/Or they didn't adequately toss the wings. The wings had significant areas with no sauce. While I couldn't taste the Cherry Teriyaki flavor that well on the wings, I spooned up a bit of sauce. It was a tasty sauce at least. Just needed more of it. Although I ordered the Garlic Lime Ranch wings, I don't think that's what I received. I noticed when my server said each flavor when she delivered the wings, that she didn't say lime. I mentioned that to her and she said "No. it has lime." The sauce was hard to make out because the wings weren't well sauced, but there was no lime flavor. There were, however, multiple large pieces of basically raw garlic that nobody would want to eat. Either they weren't appropriately cut and cooked, or they were meant to add garlic flavor and should have been removed before serving. Either way, this flavor on this day, did not work. It's always difficult to score a review when I was really really looking forward to a visit and it didn't live up to my hopes. If I had no expectations before the meal, I probably would have scored this a 3.5 Star experience and rounded up to 4 Stars. So that's what I'll go with. But this definitely is not an enthusiastic 4 Star review. read more

If there's a bar spot I'd have to pick in the Valley it will always be Jimmies place. Everyone around knows that they have one of the best atmospheres around, food is always hot and made fresh. Even chatting with the Owners on occasion. They value everyone who walks through the door and enjoy meeting new people. Weekend nights always include a Jimmies stop! read more

Jimmie's Place is a neighborhood dive bar that opened in Seymour, Connecticut in 1957. It was founded by Jimmie Principi Sr. It became a popular local institution in the Naugatuck River Valley. In 1990, Jimmie's son Jimmie Jr. took over the bar and established the Friday night family dinner tradition. By 2014, ownership had passed to Tommy Caruso. Tommy sadly passed away in 2021 and his son Chris (only 23-years-old at the time) decided to take on the challenges of running the bar himself. With help from his mother and younger brothers, Chris gave the bar a much-needed face lift and transformed it from a local lunch bar to foodie destination bar that was now open seven days a week. The food menu consists of award-winning burgers, hearty sandwiches, wraps, tacos, salads, comfort food entrées, soups, and various appetizers. The one thing they are most well-known for is their award-winning wing selection with 60 flavors! I recently stopped at Jimmie's Place for dinner. I was in the area because I had a ticket to see a double feature at the nearby Strand Theater. I usually grab dinner at a local establishment whenever I go to the Strand. I hadn't tried Jimmie's yet and I heard that they had an excellent wing selection. The place had an old-school dive bar feel to yet, yet it had a modern twist. I pulled up a seat at the bar and looked over the menu. I decided to order nine of the "Hot Honey Garlic" and nine of the "Garlic Bacon Parmesan". The hot honey wings were sweet and garlicky with just the right amount of heat, while the bacon parmesan wings were cheesy with a hint of smokiness from the bacon. Both kinds were pretty meaty. I washed everything down with a can of Samuel Adams "Just the Haze" Non-Alcoholic IPA. I give Jimmie's wings two thumbs up! I'll have to stop again and try their tacos, which I hear are also excellent! read more

Food was great, though pricey. Service was average to above average. Very small, bar interior.

I've been driving by Jimmie's Place my whole life, and after 25 years of curiosity, decided to stop in! It gives dive bar vibes, but WOW is the food incredible! I was seriously not expecting the variety of wing flavors on the menu, and the creativity at that! We absolutely loved their sour cream and onion, dill pickle, and honey Cajun flavors, and our pretzels with homemade queso and Mac and cheese were fantastic! The food came out quickly, and our server was friendly and attentive. I'm so glad I finally stopped in and I plan on coming back the next time I'm craving good wings and comfort food! read more

I found this establishment through DoorDash and decided to place an order. I was in the mood for "bar bites", so I chose wings and nachos. I also added a soup; random but I was in the mood for soup that day. I was stuck between getting the honey garlic wings and the cherry teriyaki. I ultimately decided on the cherry teriyaki. They just seemed interesting. Teriyaki wings with maraschino cherry juice added in. The texture of the wings were very good, very tender and almost falling off the bone. I'm not sure what technique they use, possibly boiling them or smoking them first? But they were extremely tender. The nachos were also good. Not your typical tortilla chips. But they were light and crispy. They were also covered evenly with the toppings. Two types of cheese sauce & pico de Gallo. The French onion soup was pretty good. I haven't had it in years so I went with that. They packaged the cheese and croutons separately which I appreciated. This place is definitely worth trying if you're in or around Seymour or searching for some good wings on DoorDash. read more

It was just another day and no one wanted to cook. Looked to yelp and this gem Jimmies Place popped up with great reviews. Order in, food delivered and well did the food deliver. Wings, check. Onion rings, check. Buffalo/honey bbq wings , check. Fries, check( seasoned fries) Philly Cheese steak.... Check, check. Seasoned and grilled. No condiments needed as flavors were on point. Delicious alternative to not cooking. Next stop is to stop by and check 'em out in the flesh. Truly enjoyed my delivered meal , and looking forward to trying this goodness on site! read more

My friends and I went to Jimmies Place on a Friday night. When we first walked in, it seemed unassuming and a little dark but we sat down and buckled in for the ride. We didn't order any appetizers, but I ordered the Philly steak and cheese grinder with fries and it was excellent! The bread was fresh and had a lot of flavor. My friend ordered the steak tips which she said were tender and flavored deliciously. My other friend ordered the nachos and she said they were great as well. Our waitress was nice and prompt, we did not wait long at all for our meals or drinks. Jimmies place is surprisingly amazing and I would definitely recommend it!! read more

I couldn't have been happier with Jimmies Place catering for a party this weekend. Chris was super helpful, all of the food was incredible and he delivered and set up! Highly recommend for a party, and of course I've never been disappointed in the restaurant either. Thanks Chris read more

Cute spot first off. It's located on such a nice strip of stores and thrifts and bars. The interior is also nice and cozy and they had their AC on which was nice. We were seated immediately and our waitress was very attentive to us and answered all of our questions. She was very kind. We got a bunch of wings. All the flavors were great but the lemon pepper one was hands down the best! They were so juicy and melted in your mouth and fell right off the bone. Fries were good too and the drinks were creative and delicious. read more

Pretty solid spot. We just started going here for tacos and wings. Staff is excellent, food is decent.

only order from here when you have time to wait because they're super slow. I haven't been here for a few months, and as I'm sitting here, I'm reminded of why. if you're not sitting at the bar, expect it to take even longer. The serves always seem to be selective on who they serve. This place gets a 2/10 from me. read more

First time here, came here with some friends. Heard great things about this place and it was true! Little hole in the wall bar, which I am a huge fan of. We ordered the Philly cheese steak rolls which were bomb. Also got wings and loaded cheese fries. The portions are great! Everything was delicious, can't wait to come back and try other items. The service was amazing. Sam is one of the best servers I've had. She is very attentive and kind. Went up to the window to compliment the chef's and he took the time to chat for a moment even tho he was extremely busy, which was nice. We will 100 percent be returning! read more

Out of my way, but I'll occasionally stop by when one of my friends is playing there, or there's another event with friends (they had a small business Sunday last year, for example). It's got a divey vibe to it, but they've been working hard to try to shake that image. They've opened up their kitchen, and while I haven't eaten there yet, it's on my agenda the next time I go there specifically to hang out, and not as a stop before something else. WHile they have the standard bar food (especially late night), they also have a good number of regular entrees if you're looking for a full dinner. The bartenders are friendly, and make you feel like one of the crowd, even if it's your first time. There's lots of entertainment available (check their FB page), and they host 'open mike' nights frequently, so if you get the urge to start playing again, this is a great place to start (there are some top-notch musicians who show up to jam). Parking is plentiful on-street, and depending on when you go, you're right near the 'shopping district' in Seymour (mostly little antique shops) and worth checking them out. Always a fun time when I go there. I suggest you try them out. read more

The wings were very disappointing flavor wise. We ordered the cherry teriyaki wings and the brown sugar cinnamon dry rub wings. Not much flavor at all for either. Also there were no cherries on our wings like how I've seen on ones other people ordered from them so that was also disappointing. I got the Nashville hot chicken sandwich. It was extra disappointing. First off it looked like they smooshed it down because my bun was squished down already and it had nothing on it other than a little drizzle of hot honey. Nothing Nashville style about it, wasn't even spicy. Super disappointed because the reviews were good. Also my husband got the French onion soup burger and asked for it medium rare and it definitely came out well done. They weren't even that busy for a Saturday night. read more

This is one of our regular go to places. We have always been hooked up with some of the best food and drinks here. The owner comes out to say hi any chance he gets. We always get the wings and always try different flavors but an order of the hot honey garlic is always included. Their blue cheese is amazing! My favorite dinner is the steak and cheese. Came in last night 1/15 and what a shit show. The bartender was so rude and all over the place. Vaping behind the bar. Dirty tables everywhere. Food took forever. Drinks took forever. I think the bartenders name was Lindsay and she was by far the worst bartender I have ever experienced at Jimmies. Rude is an understatement. She looked a hot mess. She can not handle it on her own. Overserved these young girls who were puking in the bathroom. I was tempted to call the police because these girls were so overly intoxicated. Definitely won't be coming in on a Monday again.
