Fun Fact - They invented the split hot dog. Jimmie's is more of a seafood spot now, but they still serve hot dogs. I recently visited just to quickly try a hot dog. The restaurant is large and has a bit of a Seventies Motor Lodge feel. But the restaurant is right next to the Sound, and there is a terrific ocean level view out the glass windows in the back of the restaurant. There also is a large outdoor seating section that was not in use when I was there. I asked if they had any specialty dogs. They didn't. They had standard hot dog toppings, but I opted just for the relish because it sounded unique. They described it as the type of relish on Chicago Style dogs. It was in fact Alien Green and sweet. They have an original recipe standard length hot dog made for them. Good density. Pretty good flavor. Standard ungrilled bun. I didn't eat there, but one of the family members was kind enough to speak with me about the history of their hot dogs while I waited. I appreciated that because I'm a food blogger and it definitely helped with my content. 3.75 Stars

Because it was the Valentine's Day menu, it wasn't representative of their usual offerings. I missed the unique dishes they normally feature, but overall, it was still a pleasant evening. I had hoped to try their Arctic Char, but ended up with the salmon from the special menu. We started with an amuse-bouche of deviled eggs, which were fine. The ricotta appetizer was outstanding, with bright hints of lemon zest and balsamic, while the zucchini and carrots were less memorable. The salmon was enjoyable, though not my favorite dish, and I heard the steak was well-prepared. For dessert, the pistachio cake was tasty, though slightly dry, and was served with a pistachio and chocolate gelato. Overall, it was a decent experience, but quite pricey for the quality. I'm giving Zinc a 4-star rating, taking into account my past visits, which were quite good.
