Solid choice in Milford for good food, friendly staff and all around good experience. The one thing is they are consistent. My friends and I frequent here on occasional Tuesdays for trivia night (starts by 7pm) and all of our food choices have never disappointed. I often get something different each time but you can't go wrong with salads, sandwiches, burgers or entrees. They have a seasonal special menu which includes drink/app and entree choices for the season: very creative/festive. Parking can be a bit difficult but street parking nearby is available and usually the adjacent town/recreation building is unoccupied and I have parked there with no issues. read more

I'm a regular. There are many great things about this place. I just have to comment on a recent change. For years, I've been ordering the Pad Thai Noodle Bowl. It's very good, although the add-on protein has always been a bit of a stingy portion. But the recipe changed and whatever gave it a crunchy texture was removed (was it peanuts? Bean sprouts?). It used to be a little spicy too, and had some peanut sauce. I believe that the type of noodles changed too. Anyway, tonight it was mushy, texture-less, and bland. What happened?? Family was looking for a good place to eat after holiday shopping near Milford and Orange and this came up as a popular destination that we had not yet tried. It's a cozy nautical-themed sports bar/American food fare that was brightly decorated for Christmas, Everyone at the table enjoyed their california chicken sandwiches, and burgers. Even the quirky chicken and eggplant sandwich that dared to mix ricotta with pesto and vodka sauce all together worked out quite well. However, I did not enjoy my fish and chips as it had a sweet taste profile that grew more off-putting as I ate it. It lessened with the tartar sauce but that's not a sauce I enjoy having either. So I'm glad everyone had a good time and good food, but I personally did not get a plate that I wanted to eat much of. Maybe next time I'll get something that matches the experience of the rest. A great place to meet friends for a casual dining experience. There are tables and booths inside and outdoor seating for the nicer weather. Apparently, Bonfire is owned by the same folks as Founders House and Bridge House. I ordered the Mac and Cheese and added lobster to it (Friday Lenten meal). They do give large portions of lobster if you opt to add it on. (One piece still had the cartilage on it, which was a bit frustrating.) My friend eats gluten free and there were a few options on the menu. The service checked in pretty often. There's not much parking available in their lot, and if you're not a Milford resident you can't park in the lot next door or on certain side streets, so be advised to get there early to find a space on a side street or in Bonfire's lot if you're not from Milford. Bonfire Grille is a grill and bar that opened in Milford, Connecticut in May 2018. It was founded by restaurateur partners Robert Cyr and Frank Basile. Cyr (who has had a long time passion for hospitality and libations) had previously been a general manager of a California Pizza Kitchen while Basile is a graduate of Johnson and Wales. In 2016, the duo were offered a partnership at the Milford-based gastropub Bridge House. Following the success of that partnership, Cyr and Basile decided to open Bonfire Grille in the Woodmont section of Milford. In May 2020, Cyr and Basile opened Founders House Pub & Patio in downtown Milford. My wife and I recently had lunch at Bonfire Grille. We were meeting her uncle who lives in the area. My wife had visited Bonfire Grille a couple of times before and had raved about it. The interior was very clean and we loved the nautical themed decor. We all started off with an appetizer of "Frickles" (juicy and crunchy pickles, battered and fried to perfection, served with chipotle aioli and ranch dressing) which were very good! For our entrees, we all decided to get various chicken sandwiches. I had the "Crispy Bang Bang Chicken Sandwich" (crispy chicken tossed in a zesty sriracha mayo topped with sliced pickles and shaved cabbage slaw), my wife had the "Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich" (smothered in Nashville hot sauce, pickles, hot honey aioli and topped with mango relish on a brioche bun), and her uncle had the "California Chicken Sandwich" (grilled chicken breast topped with Monterey Jack cheese, applewood smoked bacon, chunky avocado, lettuce, tomato and chipotle aioli). Another lobster roll but these were not like the others. So moist and sweet with a little butta to make it better with 'mo' butta on the side to slater if so inclined. I was so inclined. Twin lobster tails, dynamite salty fries, and a generous "side" salad for $35. A great price considering I've paid that for one roll that wasn't as good. The bun was slightly toasted and held up to the warm buttered lobster. The salmon burger had an asian twist with a ginger miso mayo. My husband really like it. Served with the same taste fry basket. The restaurant has two outdoor dining areas. A patio outside street level that has a good privacy wood fence. The is an indoor/outdoor bar where patrons can sit. The rooftop dining has several tables under a canopy with views of the Sound. The interior has a nautical theme. The special drink of the day unknown to me was made with Truly. a Pineapple Mango frozen cocktail. I didn't realize it was a hard Selzer because I wouldn't have ordered it. Those hard Selzer, beers, are "headache in a can." It was super sweet as well. The Ranch was very good, I don't know if it was homemade but either way it was very good. Enough space to feel good and enough going on around you to entertain you. Food was great. I had the short rib chill as an app. The bonfire burger which was delicious. My wife had the California chicken sandwich. We get our meals without bread so the pictures may not be representing what you would get. Another great lunch at Bonfire Grill yesterday. I love that the menu tells you which items are gluten-free. Very helpful for me when trying to figure out what to eat. My party started out with the frickles (fried pickles) which they said were delicious. They had an assortment of burgers and I had the poblano and black bean burger on a gluten free bun with no cheese (still sticking to my New Year's resolution). We frequent Bonfire Grille at least every other week. The location is perfect and they have an interesting variety of menu options. However, we have noticed a significant decline in the kitchen staff. The food is not the same quality it used to be and they often forget ingredients in our dishes. If this was a one time occurrence I would chalk it up to a bad night, but almost every time we order from here this happens. We have reached out to share this concern but never heard back from management. I guess they are too busy now to care about customer service. I decided to try this place after hearing from friends about it. I went there with my wife and two kids on Labor Day. We got there around 6:30 and the host greeted us and seated us quickly. We chose the patio since it was such a nice day. It did take a little while for someone to come to our table and when the waitress finally took our order it took almost an hour for us to get our food. During that whole time our waitress did apologize for the delay several times while assuring us that we would get our food soon, all while other tables that had gotten there at the same time or after us got their food first. The food was good, but it shouldn't have taken that long, specially since it wasn't a big or special order, we had the popcorn chicken which is an appetizer, a small order of garlic Parmesan wings, a kid's cheeseburger and an order of tacos. What a wonderful place for lunch! Right across from the water this was a very welcoming place the minute we opened the door. Lunch on a beautiful Saturday in November. We snagged a comfortable booth by the window and settled in for good food and catching up. I noticed a many with lots of choices! Despite that my friend and I both had the Cauliflower Bowl (one with Chicken and one with Shrimp). Serving size was large (I took 1/4 home to reheat later). We tried this restaurant for the first time as takeout. I'd really want to give them a 3.5 stars based on below review. Food was ready earlier than our time estimate, which in theory was good but in practice it wasn't. We drove to the restaurant which was 6 minutes from our location and picked up and drove 6 minutes home. When we got home, all of our food was Luke warm or cold which was extremely disappointing. Since it was for my sisters birthday and it wasn't a cheap meal, we ate it anyway. We shared the twin lobster rolls, which were full of lobster but I missed the clarified butter that they normally come with. The fries were well seasoned and crispy but still cold. The truffle Mac and cheese was extra saucy and the truffle flavor came through. The buffalo chicken Mac and cheese not pictured was full of chicken and had good heat flavor. While we were extremely disappointed in the temperature of our food, we will consider going back but only for dine in when it is truly safe to do so. read more

I will start with this is probably a millennial's happy hour dream come true. We ordered fish tacos (not fried they only offer grilled) & fish and chips. I don't even think if I was pressed to count how many times I've had fish tacos in my life I would be able to give you a number. But I can say I've had them literally all over the country, (IMO the best are in San Diego) as well as Mexico. I did not care for these fish tacos at all. The presentation looked enticing. But they were so overloaded with stuff that you could barely taste the grilled cod. And they were very very soggy! I don't care for flour tortillas, traditional fish tacos are served on corn tortillas. The the side of rice tasted & looked OLD. The fish and chips was the stand out for sure. Beer battered, golden crunch, solid portion, average fries, good coleslaw. If you can deal with the noise and you want to sit at the bar, this could be an option. The interior was very pleasant and modern with a coastal vibe. Bathroom was fairly clean but could have certainly used some attention. Our server was friendly enough. But he forgot a few things so we had to remind him. I left him a solid traditional tip despite that. Location near the water doesn't mean you actually see the water. And the outdoor seating is along the street so it's ultra noisy, like motorcycle & traffic noise. Attempting to have a conversation over a meal was rather impossible. Between the screaming kids and the really loud other patrons, it didn't make for a relaxing, leisurely dinner. So many other stellar options in the area, I'd skip this one. read more
