SCAM ARTISTS!!!If I could give zero stars I would. This company is a SCAM. They quoted my mother 400.00 and then on the day of the move, the owner calls and demands 300.00 more, claiming it took 3 hours to pack a bedroom set and table. My mother refused bc that was nearly double the price but he then threatened to hold the furniture. Then when the movers got to my house they tried to force her to sign a paper stating she received a brochure called "important notice" but he had no brochure !! We should have called the police. Save your money and time, I filed a complaint against them at the BBB and division of consumer affairs. I can't even find a NJ movers and warehousemen license for them! Finally bc my mother wanted her furniture she paid the additional money and signed their fraudulent papers. BEWARE!!! Check the Internet this company was caught in a sting for unlicensed movers in 2011, Lahzar Berkat the owner is a criminal for the way he's defrauding consumers. He will pack, load, move, and unpack all in one day if that is what you need. He is inexpensive, trustworthy, and careful with your belongings. They moved my 4 bedroom home in NJ to Virginia. They started on a Saturday morning and I was sleeping in my new house late that night. Nothing was missing or broken. Everything was carefully put back together and placed in the rooms where they belonged. I can actually say that moving was a good experience, due to the fact that Lahzar was with me every step of the way. VERY EASY - NO STRESS! He will come to your home and look at your belongings and quote you on a price. No haggling and no upcharging - just a reasonable price. Once you do the comparisons, you will be happy with what he quotes you. The quote does not change, there is no funny business. Once the job is done and your items are in your new house - then you pay him. There were no credit card or deposits at all. I was moving three dogs and a cat - and I work from home, so I needed my stuff moved in one day so that I could be in my home and operational the very next day. A successful move! The guys worked really quick and were extremely polite. Not just to me but the other tenants in my building. There was a callout within the company on the morning of my move so they ran late but kept me up to date with everything while I waited and sent extra guys (5 total) for no extra charge. They even wrapped some glass cabinets for free due to the wait. Told me exactly what they were going to do, how they were going to charge (hourly) and left no stone unturned. Professional, courteous, responsive, affordable and efficient describe my recent experience with Van Express. I was contacted very quickly and given a quote the same day. I am not an experienced mover and contacted John several times with questions and concerns over the quoted price changing. John was always pleasant and reassuring. Maddy was my friendly scheduler and worked with my preferred date/time. The moving team arrived when she said they would. The movers where friendly, professional, swift and careful with my belongings. Luis, Omar and Carlos were able to break down, load, drive to my new location, unload and set up within 3 hours. Not bad for a 1 bedroom apartment and no elevator in the first residence. Most importantly my price never changed!! I have to say, I went into this service not expecting the best. I found Van express through Yelp. I read the reviews... However, I was last minute finding a mover and the other company couldn't move me for 2 weeks. Through the messaging system on Yelp I received a quick response and a reasonable quote. David in the office was great on the phone and sent me emails promptly to send an estimate and a text to follow up that I received it. I was able to get moved 2 days later. Then on moving day Mark and his guys show up on time (they actually were set to be early, but I was not). They never stopped working and gave me tips on moving for future use. We went over the estimate slightly due to trying to find close parking, but that was my error. They did our move broke an EXPENSIVE antique mirrored table and hid the broken pieces in the truck - until during move I came downstairs and saw pieces of glass everywhere and made them unwrap table that was already in truck. I was able to work with Lazhur, the owner directly, who smartly came to my studio apartment and gave me a quote to move. He was fair, honest, timely and affordable. The most important part of the move were the movers themselves. His team were professional, gracious, and on time, both for pickup and delivery. They did every thing they promised. This is a very difficult review to write. On one hand, this company in not deserving of a bad rating. There were a few things they got right and did well. However, there were quite a few things that were "questionable" business practices. Quite typical for many businesses in the tri-state area of New York. On the day of booking and up to the day before the scheduled move, the salesman Ben, was terrific. He called, was responsive, communicated with me via text message; the whole nine-yards. However, the day before the move and the day of, no one from the office could be reached. ( I can only describe the experience of trying to speak to someone from Van Express Moving & Storage as someone trying to reach you, but you have blocked their number. ) Not, until a few hours before the scheduled move time, was I able to speak to anyone from the company. The workers/movers arrived on-time, were professional (meaning not rude) but, tried to increase the price by $200. The job took them 54 minutes from the time they walk in to the time the completed work. That includes 10 minutes of calling supervisors and reviewing my documentation of the estimate and original price quote. I ended up paying $300 for about 45 mins of actual work, but they tried to get me for $500! I'm not sure if I would use this company or recommend them to others. They did good work, which I was happy with. But they tried to get me to pay more than the verbal agreement. I guess I would say, if you use this company, document EVERYTHING. Perhaps, even go as far as recording your conversation with whomever the salesperson is. Also, obtain a "real number", the someone from the company can be reached. Not the automated, fake answering service, that is activated after the company has received your security deposit. It's a shame that this is the advice I would give and that this was my experience with this company. I truly believe, that had I needed to put items on their truck, I would have received those items until I gave into paying the additional $200. read more

VanExpress moved my one bedroom apartment from Old Bridge, NJ to (outside) Indianapolis. I dealt with Lazhar (the "CEO" of the company) directly. He was able to give me an estimate very quickly via e-mail. Later, he came to see the place, but the price did not change. Dates and price were negotiated. You will need to work together with Lazhar a bit to find a move-in and move-out that will work for both you and his small operation. Ultimately, once he quoted me a price and guaranteed my move-in and move-out dates, he delivered on both. After receiving estimates from several large moving companies, all wanted to charge more and estimated something like 2 weeks for delivery. VanExpress delivered my stuff 700 miles in 3 days. That means out of all the companies I looked into, VanExpress was both the cheapest and the fastest. Your experience may vary---if I had been able to move out on a different date, the price would have been higher or lower, and I may have been able to get an even quicker delivery. Three movers moved me out and did good work. Two moved me in. Importantly for my peace of mind, one of the move-in guys also drove the truck out and moved me in. It's nice to have that sort of door to door delivery, which you won't get with the bigger companies who may store your stuff for weeks and load/unload your stuff many times. There was only very minimal damage to any of my belongings. Movers accepted tips graciously, and did not act as though they expected a tip, or a tip of any particular size. We did have a small misunderstanding with the walk-through date, but overall this seemed like a trustworthy company acting in good faith at each step. read more

We had a small move from one town to another. David was very accommodating. The move took place the same week that I called which I thought was amazing. Paperwork process was very easily done via email. The movers were all very professional and was very careful moving the furniture to the second floor. Everything was wrapped up. This company moved me from North Jersey to Central Jersey in July 2013, I guess not everyone has a positive experience....... while Lazar is professional, the staff he hires are not professional movers, they broke several furniture pieces which I am unable to replace. When they arrived all was going to plan, they were careful but Lazar had to be present every step of the way and when he wasn't overseeing that's when things went wrong from packing to handling. Since the move was done in one day when they arrived at the new location Lazar realized that they were not good on time and the men started working very fast and sloppy. I ordered before the move a day bed which came prepacked and needed to be assembled, they did not want to assemble stating it was not their responsibility, I am sure Lazar would of accommodated me, but he had a medical emergency with one of the movers and had to rush him to the hospital. What I feel was a nice gesture was that one of the guys who was hanging around waiting for Lazar offered to help my husband assemble the day bed, this was greatly appreciated. I guess with moving companies it's hit and miss, overall the move was good, I think if Van Express did not break my pieces I would of given this company 5 stars. Overall Lazar tries to do a good job and is pleasant, so my review should not prohibit anyone from hiring this company, I would most likely hire them again if I need to move since they know my stuff and honestly nothing else left to break so I should be OK for next time :) read more

Had a very bad experience. I hired them after seeing the prior reviews but was totally disappointed with their performance. They don't even have uniforms and except the foreman other crew members were either trainees or just laymen. They didn't know how to pack or load. Took close to 7 hours for a job of not more than 5 hours. Basically students and not professional movers. They would just stand if you are not watching . Won't ever hire them again. Very shabby job of unpacking and they couldn't even fix a bed they had dismantled. I advise not hiring them, especially for weekend moves. I ended up paying much more than expected. read more

Having moved twice in the past 2 years with horrible experiences of hung over weekend kids showing up an hour late and one man a no-show, Van Express and Moving Company was AWESOME. I was contacted twice, the week before the move; once to go through the inventory and the day before to confirm arrival time. The crew showed up 30 mins early, with the confirmed 3 crew members and these guys had the system down! The crew leader confirmed any existing scratches etc, clearly provided guidance to his team AND assured nonone sat around or was on the cell phones waiting for direction. Top notch company. A worst experience for me and my friends. A guy from Uzbekistan who promised us that they will do it on time but for some reason they just disappointed us and came next day morning. But the worst thing happened to us. Three Uzbekistan men came to my house and force us to sign "contract" included CASH ONLY. And furniture protection which forced us to buy 3 boxes for 45$ cash. Till they finished they forced us to pay at least 20% tips for these 3 guys. read more

Well, we got our stuff delivered, and I couldn't have asked for better service. Here are a couple of highlights: -Louis and Lester showed up promptly (actually 15 minutes early!) -We had boxes and boxes of heirloom crystal glassware and not a single piece was broken (Anthony's crew did a great job packing). -I also had a 7-foot piece of plate glass that covers an antique sideboard -- arrived in one piece. Perfect! -I'm pretty sure Louis and Lester are some sort of furniture assembly wizards, because they put together two cribs and our queen bed without instructions. What?!?! -All of our antique furniture traveled well-wrapped in blankets and tape or plastic wrap. Not a scratch. Now for the complaints: -None. These guys are top-notch. I have no interest in moving again anytime soon, but when I have to, I'm calling these guys. read more

We had a great experience with Van Express moving! I have used movers before, but none as efficient, quick, and easy to deal with like Van Express. They made my moving process so easy. I will definitely be using them again for my next move. To go into detail on our actual move... We made two stops - one at my boyfriend's place, the next at my place, with the final stop being Manhattan. The whole process only took a little over 3 hours. They were in and out of all three places and were done an hour earlier than anticipated! We had everything pre-packed and ready to go before Van Express came with the exception of our assembled furniture. They disassembled, packed, and moved all of the big furniture so quickly and so efficiently. We were impressed. Our other roommate was using another moving company since she was coming from a different area, and her movers were in the apartment for 7-8 hours. None of her items were packed securely...some of her stuff ended up bent/broken. Total opposite of our moving experience with Van Express. Van Express made sure everything was securely packed. NONE of our belongings were broken, bent, or scratched. I can't say anything bad about Van Express because they made my moving experience 110% POSITIVE. read more

I have mixed feelings about this company. On the one hand, the movers themselves were great. It was a 100 degree day, on a Sunday, and the three guys showed up on time and really toughed it out through all of it. Also their rate of $139 an hour is (sadly) about as cheap as you will find in this area. On the other hand, there's really poor communication with the company itself. I made a point to contact them (multiple times) and tell them that the original estimate of 15 boxes was way low, and yet the movers were expecting that amount. I told them that my girlfriend and I needed three wardrobe boxes and the movers weren't aware of that. Luckily they had two in their truck (which we had to pay extra for). But my biggest issue is that their estimate was way low. I was told 4 hours. I even asked the guy if they wanted to come to the place and do an estimate and I was told "Oh it's fine. I got it, it's a one bedroom." It took them 5 hours. Then they charged us 6 hours for "travel time". I was confused since we only moved less than 20 minutes away and they finished within 5 hours including that time. I was then told that they included the travel time from their office. I did look later and it does say within the contract that they tack on an hour of travel time. But I was under the impression that the one hour of travel time listed on the estimate was between homes, not from their place and back. If they automatically tack on an hour for travel, why would they estimate that the job itself would only take 3 hours? Long story short, good movers but just know that they will add an hour to the time that they're with you and that whatever you tell the company over the phone might not be relayed to the workers themselves. read more

ZERO STARS ... The worst experience I've ever had. Quoted $700 to move a 10 x 30 storage unit and a 600 sq ft store front from Bloomfield to Little Falls. Everything was boxed and ready to move. Shows up with an insufficiently sized U-Hail truck and two movers, with NO hand carts. He had to use my handcart and furniture dollies, which made the job insanely time consuming. He loaded a van with a lot of my personal stuff but left it behind at the storage facility. I found out later just why. They ran over 8 hrs, so he charged me $1,100. I only had $800, which was to include a $50 tip for each of the workers, which I'm sure he kept for himself. Of course, we never even went to my store front, which I had to pay to move at a later date. He then telephoned me and emailed me regarding the remaining $300 balance and how he had found someone who would purchase my personal items (that he had purposely held back in his van) for that much. I just let him keep them - I never wanted to see him again - but have come to deeply regret it and should have contacted the police. This person is a manipulative, lying thief and a shakedown artist. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! You want me to remove this review? Good luck, thief! Maybe you should have thought about how dishonesty might affect your business. Hope the extra $300 of belongings you stole from me were worth it. read more

We had a bad set of circumstances to make our move (outside of Van Express) to make it stressful. Bottom line, the day of the move, the apartment we're moving into, was not ready to be moved into. The team of Van express, packed, 9 hours and stored our contents for 5 days until ready. David, the leader, Ishmael, the move supervisor, handled it professionally and with compassion. Van Express was recommended to me by a friend while I was searching for someone to help me pick up a cabinet that is located in NYC and have it move to my home in NJ. The price they quoted was reasonable so I signed an agreement two weeks prior to the actual moving date. About two days before the move, I received a reminder e-mail and was provided with a two hours window for when they will show up. They arrived at the pick up location within the window and I didn't even need to be at the pick up location to overlook the move. They arrived at my house promptly. The cabinet is quite heavy but they unloaded it into my garage very quickly. The entire move went smoothly without any issue. i will use them again, and would highly recommend them to anyone that is looking for a mover. read more

We moved from Morristown, NJ to Clinton, CT on August 14, 2018. They packed our furniture and household belongings and all seemed to be going smoothly. They arrived at our new house the next day and proceeded to unload our furniture and things into the house. When the dust settled and we started to look over things we began to notice damage. Grandfather clock is ruined, the weights were dropped and bent. Then a sandstone table top was chopped, coffee table had large piece of wood taken completely off, chip on tall dresser and patio table had large scrap which took paint off to the bare metal. The movers dropped the iron headboard and when we asked what happened, they said everything was okay. We found out later that if left a large gouge in the wall and hardwood floor. The two guys that came out to move my apartment were amazing. They arrived promptly, which is very important when you're having to work around a tight moving schedule. I lived on a four story walk up in Brooklyn, and the first guy was extremely nice and did his best to move almost all of the furniture down before the other driver was even able to find a parking space. The two were courteous and extremely nice. They even were able to arrive at the end destination before I was, and were sitting happily on the front porch ready to start work. They moved what took my roommate a full 12 hours to move in, less than 30 minutes to move out, and nothing at all was damaged along the way! If I have to move again, I will definitely use this company. I highly recommend them to anyone who needs a mover. read more

In general, the move was OK. We had problems because after we closed on our home we could not close on the new home until following day. Van Express was accommodating, they only charged us $200 for the overnight storage. Of course, we had to pay for another whole day's worth of moving on the following day. My biggest problem with them is that when we turned our 42" LG flat screen TV on, it was damaged in the corner and is ruined. When we contacted Van Express, they told us they would reimburse us $40 for a $450 TV. This is completely absurd considering the movers damaged the TV in the first place. We didn't even tell them about the damage to the corner of our kitchen table and the scratches on my dresser. I expected more considering they are insured and liable for damages. Would not recommend these movers for that reason!! read more

All in all this was a good moving experience. If the movers had showed up on -time I would have given them 5 stars. Originally I was told 1 pm, then it was between 1-3pm, they showed up at 4pm, but they had the courtesy to at least call to let me know. They worked quickly, did a great job moving my things nothing broke and they stayed with the price I was quoted. I don't go online and write reviews very often but I felt compelled to write this one. Everyone says moving is one of the most stressful things you can do and they're not wrong. If you're reading this review, it means you're trying to pick a moving company just like my wife and I were a couple of weeks ago. We reached out to Van Express because they were recommended to us by a friend and decided to use them based on that recommendation but also because they were available on the schedule we needed (pick up one day, hold everything and then deliver another day) and their estimate was very competitive but we all know how estimates can be! We felt confident in our decision but the process did not get off to a great start. On the day off the pickup, the job they had in the morning ran long and they were delayed two hours beyond their original arrival time. Loading did not start until 3pm and because the guys were already tired, they didn't finish until around 1030pm. The crew worked diligently though to get everything done even though they were clearly exhausted and we felt happy enough with the way they had worked and taken care of our possessions that we didn't care about the time. On Saturday morning, the crew called as promised to let us know they were 30 mins away and once they arrived, they worked quickly but carefully to get everything unloaded and placed in the correct rooms and all of the furniture reassembled. They worked so efficiently that despite the longer time required to load everything, they did not go over the estimated hours and we paid exactly what we had been quoted. The crew were all very professional, very polite and very courteous throughout the process. Special praise though is reserved for Omar. He was the foreman for both loading and unloading and he was unbelievable. He was calm, patient and in control of the whole process. He communicated any issues that came up very clearly and reviewed every detail with us throughout the move. I really can't say enough good things about him. We had another foreman, Mike, working as part of the crew during the unload too and he was excellent as well. I would recommend Van Express to anyone. If the other crews are anything like the crew we had, then you will be in good hands and if Omar or Mike happen to be the foreman on your move, then you can be assured that they will do anything and everything to make your move a success. read more
