I would not recommend this place to anyone. I am so glad they are closed. I took my laptop in because of a shortage in the power cord. The guy had my laptop days after he said it would be ready. When I went in on a Thursday, he told me he needed to order the part and it wouldn't be in until the following Monday. Ten minutes after I left the store he called and told me it was ready. When I went back to pick up the laptop , he gave me a new power cord and told me the cost was $250. Well, I paid for it, and once I got home the same problem starting happening. I could never get ahold of him by phone and every time I went back they were closed. He also installed remote access on computer, which would allowed Tech Shield to access my computer. The guy is a lying crook. He did not fix my laptop, only charged me $250 for a power cord. Again, so glad that place is closed. read more

I don't know how they managed to get any positive reviews for this business but I'm here to tell you to run from them. I have never left any negative reviews before but this one deserves to be served. If you need your device fixed, go to Apple. I brought in a Macbook in the beginning of November 2023. The laptop wouldn't turn on and I told the guy that no one else could fix it. He reassured me and told me that he was the best at this and he could fix it for the right price. Therefore, I paid him the full repair price on the spot. He told me to come pick up the laptop within a week or two which was fair. Well after 2 months, I went back to the shop and he told me that he was still waiting for some "parts". I clearly knew something was off and called his BS... I asked him to put back my Macbook together and to refund me for service not delivered. He promised to refund me the next day but I have never received any refund. After my research I realized that this guy has been running the same script for years: 1. He tells you that he can fix your device in a timely manner and at a reasonable price. 2. He blames the long delay on "parts" that never arrived. Keep in mind these Godsend "parts" can take up to a year to come in... 3. Unfortunately, after waiting for so long, most people give up on the repair and take the loss of the money that they paid upfront or they just forget about it. (That in fact explains the abundance of computer debris on the floor inside of the shop. I hope this review helps anyone that has been dealing with Techshield or thinking of working with them. read more

I took both my sisters Mac and mine to get fixed. Hers got taken care of which was a removal of an extra solid state since we were told it could not be repaired. That Mac no longer functions. My Mac which was a 2012 MacBook Pro needed a new logic board. We received the laptop after being "fixed" and it would not start. He apologized and said he would get it fixed. Two weeks later we were told he couldn't fix the laptop and offered a refund. After taking my laptop back for the second time I opened it only to find it stripped of parts. My brand new battery from OWC, was replaced with a 2012 Mac battery on its way out. As well as my fan was removed and replaced with one that doesn't work and multiple screws from the internal system were missing. If you can't do the job say that from a start. Granted my laptop is a few years old.... and the comma gave out. I knew actually who to contact regarding this issue. After describing the situation, he knew what the problem was and asked for me to bring the laptop in for a thorough check up. The motherboard needed to be replaced which he had to order it. He had called me when the board came in as he had promised. He had replace the motherboard within 15 - 20 minutes or so and I was out the door. The owner is very professional and friendly. I am this kind of person who like to try different places for service. Well , it didn't turn out well... Avoid this place. I went there with my liquid damage keyboard and the whole process was a pain. First of all , he charged me more then we agreed over the phone. Second , it took more then he promised. Next , keyboard wasn't installed properly so some of the keys are lower then the other. Backlight light not working. Touchpad is sticky and not working properly ( probably he forgot to take clean it as well ). My computer feels much slower then before , not sure if he installed proper parts. read more

The computer was never brought anywhere else first, it still worked fine(it was just a pain to turn on), the computer case had never been opened before they got it so missing pieces is impossible, they never once tried to contact me and actively avoided my calls(checked my phone records and I called them over 50 times and they only called me once including call backs for messages I left), I was not happy with the "new laptop" but was told it would work better when I updated the drivers, and I was never out of the country until after I received the "new laptop." It literally sat on a desk never being moved since I got it from them. Is he suggesting it could be broken just by being opened? I ended up going to Tech Shield partly because it was close and partly because they were one of only two who said they actually had the parts on hand. Turnaround time was a couple of hours (same day for a hardware repair!) and the cost ended up being lower than anywhere else's quote for the same task. After I picked up my laptop I talked shop with the purveyor, smart guy, very personable and no nonsense. My wife's 2014 MacBook Pro screen went completely dead a few weeks back. No warning, just went totally dark. Brought it to Tech Shield, they diagnosed the issue, we ordered a replacement screen, it was just installed yesterday and is good as new. Took my less than two year old laptop in for a battery swap and, after about five trips to and from the store, ended up with a bricked device. These folks have absolutely no clue what they are doing. If you want an idea about how you will be treated there, scroll past all their fake 5 star reviews on here and on Google and you will get an idea of what kind of service you can actually expect. To top it all off, the owner texted me after the fact and blamed me for ruining my $1400 laptop because I "rushed them." Unless you're in the mood to gift this company some cash and then turn around and buy a new computer, I'd recommend taking your business elsewhere. This place is a joke. Edit 9/17: I can assure you all that this review is more authentic than the service you will get from Tech Shield. This 5 star review is a mixed bag: I paid 250+ tax ( including labor) to get a solid state drive I was told it was fixed I was misinformed and my computer continued to not be able to find the drive I go back. I am told the battery is dying, but everything should now be fine I was again misinformed. On what becomes my third visit to the store, I was angry. How has such a simple thing turned into such a hassle ? why has no one offered me anything more than a half hearted apology? I ask Spencer, who works closely with the owner, and he acknowledges my frustration and says the cord connecting my drive and my computer has likely gone bad. He fixes it free of charge. I however am too mad at the inconvenience to let this go. So I come back to explain my frustration directly to the owner. Poor Spencer again had to absorb the brunt of my frustration as the owner never seemed to appear. I again leave irritated, but both my mood and my rating would improve. That night i got a call from Spencer, who was able to fix my actual problem, saying he had discussed my concerns with the owner and would like to offer me a free service. FINALLY. Some acknowledgment that there had been a mistake. For all my complaining they do care if you are happy with their service and want it right. You may have to ruffle a few feathers in the event you are unhappy, but I was given excellent compensation for the issue, great service by Spencer and a second life for my Macbook read more

Highly recommend trying Tech Shield if you are an apple user. I called to try and troubleshoot some of my connectivity issues on my MacBook and the gentleman was very patient with me --- and proceeded to extend his services in person and said would provide me a more in-depth analysis. Repair was fairly quick and double-checked that everything worked once I came to pick it up. Overall from phone call to appointment I'm very satisfied with the speed and professionality. They misrepresented what they were going to do to my laptop completely, then after I had paid for something I didn't authorize (and wouldn't have), the owner (or someone who said he was the owner) talked over and talked down to me and actually laughed in my face while arguing that the repair he made was better than the one I had agreed too. First off, I arrived while they were helping another costumer and after messing around with their phone without avail, they gave this costumer a full refund because they weren't able to fix the problem! Amazing... Secondly, they completely restored my MacBook Pro that sustained a mind bogglingly panic inducing amount of water damage. I thought that it was beyond repair, but they were able to get me back in computing action in less then 3 hours! Runaway from this store as fast as you can!!! Go to an authorized Apple Computer Repair Shop (most likely Lapin Systems) instead. The owner doesn't know what he's doing and has employed a jerk as a manager named Lofty. Lofty is EXTREMELY rude and short with customers. Lofty cuts you off when talking, doesn't listen and he doesn't have any people skills whatsoever. Lofty is also inexperienced when it comes to handling customer issues as well as fixing technical issues. I had my MacBook Pro for 8 years and took it to Tech shield, after having initial problems with the battery life. Tech Shield sold me a faulty battery, which didn't work from day one. They gave me the runaround, and unfortunately let the warranty on the supposedly "new battery" laps and expire, to where I wasn't able to get it fix or a replacement battery instead. This is a Shim Sham store that needs to be shut down IMMEDIATELY!!!!! What a scam and a waste of time of $100 for a supposedly new battery. Not only is the expertise in computers, etc. clearly evident, but the owner is charming, intelligent and humble. I recently returned from an extended trip to Egypt and inquired if in fact he is from Egypt. While the old adage, never discuss religion or politics with someone, we did both - initiated by me. My MacBook would not turn on so I went into Apple and they told me I had to send it in for a flat fee of $497 which does not include the price for them to fix it. This would've taken 3-10 days. I made the mistake of leaving my coffee cup sitting next to my MBP laptop and knocked it over. It was just a small amount, but the keyboard stopped working within minutes and I started panicking (I stupidly made the same mistake in college, but with an entire bowl of water) thinking I'd have to buy a whole new computer. I googled the nearest computer repair shop, called in, and a quick 10 minute walk later, I handed my laptop off to the crew at Tech Shield for a (free!) diagnostic test. They called me back an hour later saying they could replace the keyboard by the end of the day. I definitely wasn't happy about my $200 mistake, but the price was completely fair for how fast I got it back - from the time I called to the time I picked up my fixed laptop was only 3 hours!!
