I'll just begin by saying I worked in the retail industry for over 45 years before retiring last…read moreJanuary. So, I have a unique perspective on the customer experience and what it takes for a business to provide consistent excellence in service. The Microcenter store in Westmont is beyond exceptional! The commitment showed by the staff to treat their guests well goes far beyond most typical retail locations. I visit often and feel so valued as a customer. Having been in the industry for so long, most in multi store management, I observe different aspects of the experience when I'm personally shopping stores. And at Micro Center Westmont, I observe a clean, well-organized store with friendly, helpful and knowledgeable team members who have a genuine interest in ensuring their guests are treated well. Far too many positive personal examples from my many visits to share, but the consistency is truly admirable. Now do they occasionally make a mistake or does something not go as planned? Of course! If it didn't they wouldn't be human beings as we all make mistakes, right? But I am so impressed with how hard the team works to correct those issues, big or small. The prices are fair, the price matching policy is very good and the return policies are exceptional. Micro Center is ALWAYS my first choice for tech and it's due mainly to the dedicated staff at the store who go above and beyond. If you've never been to a Micro Center, I'd highly suggest the Westmont location. Like me, you'll probably become a customer for life!

So I start looking around for someone to help me. 5 min passed and not one employee was available to help. Not one. So I decided I'll go find the splitters in the meantime, found one that I needed but other one was evading me. This time I go around the store looking for someone to help me out. Finally gave up and asked an employee to help me out after they finished with their current customer. The kid wasnt even looking in my direction just nodded his head. I had every single item i needed in my Amazon cart, but I still chose to drive here to give them my business. A few minutes of waiting, I just put back whatever I picked up and left. Ordered it on Amazon instead right there in the store. Employees here don't want to help, you can walk miles in that store before anyone will even bat an eye. I don't recommend this place at all. Far from what it used to be.

I can't say enough great things about Matt. He absolutely saved me this week…read more My Lenovo laptop completely failed to boot after a graphics driver cleanup utility corrupted the Windows boot configuration and recovery environment. The system was stuck in a recovery loop, BitLocker was triggered, and Windows wouldn't load or even reliably enter repair mode. Multiple shops I called said it would take several days just to diagnose the issue. Matt turned it around in essentially one day. He was able to manually access the system, unlock BitLocker, repair the corrupted boot configuration, rebuild the necessary Windows files, and get the machine fully operational again -- without wiping my data. That was critical, as I had local files that weren't backed up to the cloud. Beyond the technical expertise, what impressed me most was: * Clear communication * Fast turnaround * Extremely reasonable pricing * No upselling, no unnecessary "reinstall everything" approach He diagnosed the real issue quickly and fixed it correctly the first time. If you're an independent contractor who depends on your machine daily, or you run a small to mid-sized business and need reliable, competent IT support, Matt is exactly who you want on your side. Look no further. Highly, highly recommend.

Jaime is awesome and my own personal hero…read more Last year while I was finishing my master's degree, my relatively new PC laptop was dying slowly but surely. (Clearly it couldn't handle all the awesome I was churning out on it.) As a graduation present to myself I bought a Mac and sure enough, a mere week after I bought a new laptop my PC laptop died. Less than two years old and it was toast. (And this is exactly why once you go mac, you never go back.) One of the IT guys at my last job offered to fix it for me, but then I quit that job and felt awkward taking him up on his offer. So, no more PC for me. I was lucky that I had a brand new laptop so my PC dying wasn't the end of the world, but it had everything I did for my master's degree on there, except my capstone/thesis. No, I am not a total idiot and I DO use Dropbox, but all of my research filled it up so if it wasn't capstone related it got kicked out of my dropbox folder. Fast forward a year later, and it sat collecting dust. I kept meaning to try to fix it myself, but that never happened. It was also eating away at me that I lost *everything* I did in grad school, and considering I am actually using my degree it sucked not being able to go back and reference things I did. I kept weighing the cost of having it repaired vs. just letting it go, but one day I finally decided to take it in. I did a quick Yelp search for computer repair, and Techlife popped up first. I read the reviews about him being so amazing and the great prices, and I packed up my laptop and drove over there. I was actually expecting parking to be a nightmare given its proximity to Wrigley, but both times I came here it was super easy and I got rockstar parking right in front. I dropped it off and as promised, Jaime called me a few hours later with the diagnosis - my hard drive was bad. He could install a new one and attempt data recovery on my old one. This all went down on a Friday afternoon, and by Monday morning everything was done and... *drumroll please* By some miracle, he was able to recover EVERYTHING. It's all there, every last paper and important/sentimental photos that I forgot I had that I am SUPER happy he recovered. The best part is the price - it was so good! I got his amazing service, a new hard drive, Windows installed, data recovery, etc. for a price so low I was convinced he forgot to invoice me for something. Even the data recovery was cheap, though he did admit if he would have had to send it off it would have been hundreds of dollars. Jaime, you rock. I'm hoping all of my computers stay in working order so I don't need your services again, but if I do, I will be knocking on your door.
