i will try to make a very long and very ridiculous story as short as possible while letting people know the details of what happened here. i phoned Alan to ask about doing some work on my NAS (basically an online storage device) and some separate hard drives that had movies stored on them, including some home movies. i asked if he could load a NAS management program onto the NAS and transfer the movies onto the NAS from the separate hard drives. he said he would and told me to meet him at his shop, he said he lived up the street and would meet me there. when he opened the door to his shop, there was a tiny rickety table and a folding chair and every other inch of the shop was piled to the ceiling with boxes. i don't know if he is using this shop as a storage area or what, but not a great impression. he wrote down what i wanted and said he would work out a price for me for it and call me with it. he didn't call. this will become a theme, he almost never calls or texts you, you have to constantly call him. and every time i would call him he wouldn't remember who i was or what i wanted done, i would have to re-explain to him what he was supposed to be doing for me. so then i waited for him to start the job. i wasn't in a big hurry so i didn't mind at the time. until days turned into weeks. then months. after 3 or so months had gone by, during which time i would call him, try to get him on the phone, have to re-explain what he was supposed to be doing, etc. and every time there was some excuse that didn't make any sense about why he hadn't done anything yet. he was working late, he was sick, etc. etc. but he continued to tell me that it would be done in a matter of days. eventually i lost patience with him and said forget it. he then told me he didn't want to do the job and it was a mistake for him to accept it because his 'tech guy' doesn't do things like that? and wouldn't do it (ie he didn't know how to do it and needed someone else to). so when i told him to give me my stuff back, he told me... he lost one of the hard drives. which was $225 dollars. i told him that he would have to replace it, and he sent me a screen shot of him ordering it on amazon and said he would send tracking information. he didn't send tracking info. he never got the part. i called him multiple times again, and he said there was a problem with amazon but he would get it at best buy that weekend. again, he didn't. again, i never heard from him. when i called him again, and asked him what the hell was wrong with him, he said again he would again get if from best buy. he also was upset that i was angry and yelling at him and tried to lecture me on acting in his words "professional". which i informed him was laughable for him to be saying that. oh, and shockingly, he didn't get it from best buy again. now, on the fourth try, he actually got the part. i'm not sure at this point how long it took to get where i am today, which is back to square one, but it's been over 4 months of dealing with this. i am pretty sure he eventually got the part because he realized that it wasn't a good idea to jerk me around any more. so look, alan is not a terrible human being, he's actually kind of a nice guy. he just isn't really capable of running a business and SHOULDN'T be running a business. if he wants to repair computers then he needs to let someone else run it and he can just fix things. do not by any circumstances go here. read more

I had a broken light button on a nice but 13yr old range hood. Parts were no longer available so a comparable new one would have cost about $700 installed assuming the new one fit the same. About a year ago I bought online a low level MSI gaming laptop for my son. It was during a pre-holidays sale and it was super cheap. With 8 gigs of ram it was an update to what he had at the time but I knew I would eventually have to add more ram and space. I had seen some great reviews for Alan's One Stop Computer Repairs on another online platform so I went to their website and requested a quote. I received a call back shortly afterwards. He asked me to run scan on my son's computer to see what could be expanded. At this point I should add that my son is autistic and while super bright and awesome, he can have very little patience and needs concrete times and specifications. Because of this, I decided I would get my own hardware rather than wait for Alan to order and receive it. We made an appointment soon afterwards and we were well on our way! We had some bumps in the road like silly me didn't know that I needed to bring my son's power source (I thought they were all universal) and although I got the 64 gigs of ram I wanted, I got the size for desktops not for laptops. This caused some delays which my son had a really difficult time with. Alan went WAY above and beyond. I work full time so getting to a computer supply place and then to Alan when he is at his store would be tough so Alan offered to buy the correct ram for me. Alan's team tried to do the procedure without the power source hopping the battery would hold up but when it didn't, Alan and his wife (who reminds me of a swanky jazz singer) came and picked up the power cord from my house as I am not too far from his store. I have waited to do this review so that I could see how well the computer operates under the pressure of my son. So far, its excellent! Now, instead of hearing my son screaming from his room "Mom!!! Its Lagging!!", now I hear "Mom!!! Look at these graphics! Everything is so fast now!". So, if you have any computer issues or just want to upgrade, make an appointment and see Alan and his team! Not trustworthy. The bezel holding my daughter's laptop screen was loose, so the screen sometimes tipped out of the lid. We took it to Alan. He said they would epoxy the screen into the lid and quoted us a price. Alan called to say the screen broke as the tech. worked on it, and he said we would have to pay for a new screen. He said he was reducing the labor charge, and I asked for the receipt from the company selling him the screen. Instead, he only provided his hand-written receipt. A couple of days after getting the computer back and paying a huge bill, my daughter needed to use her camera. The tech. had jammed the screen in with the camera closed. I made her call Alan, who told her SHE would have to buy a camera to plug into the USB port, eliminating the port she needed for her numeric keypad, or, if his tech. took the screen out and it broke, we would have to pay for yet another screen. There is a reason he takes cash or cash apps. only: this place does not stand behind it's work and then threatens people they tricked out of money. I don't even know if the screen was actually ever replaced. Right after I posted a Google review recounting our problem, Alan sent my daughter a text threatening to sue us. Stay away. read more
