Paid to get Windows 11 installed. They also installed their virus software. My computer worked a few days then started shutting down after that. They did something to fix it but it didn't work. They have no guarantee. They refused to try to fix it. I don't think they are advanced level repair. So they broke my computer. read more

My Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 Tablet had been acting strange since I dropped it in a tub. Finally, the tablet was charging but not turning on. Computer Medics explained their diagnostic charge was $25. I left the tablet and got a call 2 days later saying the issue was a power button which needed replacing (@ $35). They ordered the part and called me 3 days later to say I could pick it up. The store is clean and organized. The staff is direct and straightforward with explaining charges and route to repairs and diagnostics. It was a very good experience and I would not hesitate to have them do additional work on other devices and computers. read more

Sold me a Dell XT2 with a insanely corrupted drive that the owner wouldn't replace because the unique 1.8" 120GB drive would've costed $50 and "that cuts into the profits he made off of a $75 laptop." I was offered a 32GB mSATA, which i declined because it can't hold much at all; a laptop that "costed more" but was a laptop and not a tablet like I purchased; or a $75 refund... not willing to honor his 90day warranty one bit. He stared at me blankly and asked what should he do? He suggested he call the cops which I agreed. I'm cited for trespassing even though I was never told to leave. The cops gave me $50 to go get my own drive... ...I'm taking this to small claims, bud. Warranties mean nothing here and he's quicker to call the the police on customers than honor your contract. read more

I brought in my tower computer, it would not boot up because of a fan error. All 3 fans were showing a fault so I assumed it was a mother board failure. Computer Medics called me the next day to say I was good to go, come pick it up. The fans were extremely dirty, instead of inflating the repair bill and replace all the fans they cleaned them and only charged me a grand total of $65, $30 diagnostics and $25 to clean. These guys treat people extremely fair while being honest and quickly repairing things. If your looking to get electronics fixed, take it here! read more

I am amazed by the service I received from Dave at Computer Medics. I needed to establish a two-screen set up with the ability to switch between two connected laptops. The configuration was complicated, however, Dave took the time to figure out exactly how the components needed to be set up. Blessedly the system works PERFECTLY!!! He was SO patient and polite, kindly setting up me up with a "cheat sheet" and labeling the connections and menu buttons. I cannot recommend Dave and Computer Medics enough!!! read more

Follow Up My C: Drive failed. They replaced it and reinstalled windows. A short time later, I encountered unusual errors I've never seen before on any of my PCs. I took it back in thinking it would be no issue getting it fixed, failing so soon after their repairs. They said I'd have to pay again to have Windows reinstalled, and even if it had problems right away again, I'd have to pay again. And that they'd have to wipe the C: drive in the process. When I suggested that reinstalling it for me once, after having had unusual errors, just after the work they did on it, Dave rudely said "Just come get it!", and hung up on me. I had my wife pick it up. As soon as I got it back, I went on Google and entered, Windows 10 Reinstall. It took me directly to Microsoft and options to reset, reinstall or clean reinstall Windows 10. It showed how to easily download the windows 10 install tool on a USB. Then, when reinstalling, I had the option to retain any apps or info. It worked. My pc was now fixed, and it did not cost me a penny. Now that I know how easy it is to reinstall windows 10, that's it's free, and it all happens automatically, with just a few clicks, it makes their unwillingness to stand behind their work a total embarrassment. It would have been so effortless just to reinstall it, to make a repeat customer happy. The fact that a layman like me was able to do it so easily, and without wiping the drive, which they said was necessary, shows that they really, don't even know the basics of what they're doing. In the summer of 2011 I purchased a Sony laptop from best buy. The thing was great until the charging port stopped working. I called Sony originally but they said they since it's been over a year the warranty expired and I was pretty much out of luck. I pass by this place everyday going to work and I figured I would give it a try. I came in on a Monday and I spoke to amir. He tested it in front of me and said that the issue is a very common one with this type of Sony laptop and he would have it ready in a couple days. I received a call from them on Wednesday and my laptop now works great! They customer service was excellent and the price was reasonable. I highly recommend this place. A friend tried to back up all our most precious files for us on two hard drives and no matter what we did, we couldn't access them. It was so frustrating and disappointing! Im writing this review to tell my story so that others don't fall into the same situation. I don't normally write reviews but people should know what kind of business this company provides. I brought in a Gateway MA7 about a month ago for a faulty power jack which is a very common and simple problem to fix with these laptops. The representative quoted me @ $80 to give you an idea of its mildness. I originally paid $1200 for it back in 2006 so I felt this very reasonable price and brought it in. Two weeks later I called them back because I was concerned with what was taking them so long to fix it. I was told it would take a week at most. They said they "forgot to call" and to come in tomorrow since it was getting late. So, I did. I had to pick it from the Computer Medic shop in Villa Park even though I had dropped it off at their CRC-PC store in Carol Stream, which was an inconvenience in itself but I didnt feel the need to mention it. When I got home I couldn't turn on the computer. The power button wouldn't light up and the machine didn't respond. I called them the next day and they said to bring it back in. Another week goes by and I called again. They said they were "very busy" but they had it fixed. This time I requested to pick it up from CRC-PC since Carol Stream ismuch closer to my home. When I went in tobretrieve it I tested it this time first in front of the employee. The same problem was present. The power button wouldn't turn on and the employee called Emir whobis the owner of thevComputer Medis shop. They took my laptop yet again, after which point I began getting very frustrated. Almost a month has passed by this point and a completely different problem had arose apart from the one I brought it in for. After a few days Emir calls me and says they cant fix it and they're refunding my money. Yet now I have a whole new problem to deal with, the power button. After much arguing about them creating another problem I finally was able to get Emir to see the circuit board. At first he refused but after threatening his craftmanship and legal action he obliged. The circuit board was burnt out at the power jack insert which was right next to the power button and he attempted to draw a line of solder between it to make a connection instead of replacing the whole board which was now faulty from his work. Much arguing, and legal threatening on my part, ensued. Afterall, this was an expensive laptop and he burned out the motherboard replacing a power jack. He refused to fix the motherboard and said he would only refund my money. Obviously this isnt right and so I fought back with legality. Finally, he said he would replace my laptop with a Dell Lattitude 360 which he insisted was superior in memory and function and would warranty it for 3months. I thought this was reasonable and did so without realizing he was lying. In fact, the laptop he rplaced it with had 50gb of memory less, a screen that was 3in.sq. smaller and a video card that was unable to handle a netfix vidoe wwithout freezing. On top of that I paid another $80 for the Dell 360. He didnt give it to me for free. He took the money I paid for repars on my Gateway and applied it to the Dell price tag after he dropped it by $75. So I paid $160 for it when he usually sells it for $235. I needed a working laptop for school and work however and felt backed into a corner when agreeing to it. I thought he was being honest the way he spoke up this laptops features. I soon found out that this laptop is in no way better to my old gateway. Since then it has refused to start up leaving only a flashing underscore. I called Emir back about the problem recently and he said it was a hard drive issue. When I brought up the three month warranty he hung up the phone and said "I don't give warranties". This shop and its counterpart are criminals. Emir is a dishonest theif and sold my gateway for parts while charging me for the repair on top of another $80$ for a replacement laptop. When the laptop refused to start up a month later he refused to stand by his warranty. I caution anyone who is considering his service and I hope my story can help those doing so. Emir caused more damage and disrepair to my laptop and my wallet than I've ever encountered before. This business will fix your computer and is probably fairly competent. They will do sloppy work, and they will be rude if you have any problems with that. I would recommend having them start the computer in front of you in the store when you pick it up, in order to confirm they properly did whatever they said they'd do, even if they only did diagnostics. I brought my very much functioning computer in for a relatively minor and nonessential hardware repair. When I returned to pick it up, I was told they found no problems and had done nothing to it. That's fine - they don't charge to have a computer looked at, which is nice. However, when I got home and turned my computer on, it failed to start. I really had no idea why, but I suspected a software problem. Why had they changed anything with my software? They obviously didn't check to make sure that they returned my computer in the same condition they received it in. I brought it back the next day. I was told this was my fault and they had no proof that I hadn't caused this problem. I asked what they had done previously and he opened it up to see the problems I was having. After about 20 minutes he had found the problem and changed a bios setting. I certainly hadn't touched the bios settings but I know they did for testing purposes the day before. I would not recommend this business. read more

I would never hire this company again. My computer would not let me connect to the internet. They came out and fixed the problem, but a week or two later the same problem happened again, so they came back out and fixed it again. Now yesterday I had the same problem, and this company claims that since the computer was working when they left that "they fixed the problem." Obviously if the problem keeps reoccurring they did not fix the problem, and a reputable and competent company would stand by their work. This company will not. And I agree with Jasmine that they are also rude. read more
