Everyone that I knew told me I was insane for paying that kind of money for a repair when TV's of the same size (and a fraction of the weight, lugging this thing to his shop twice was NO fun) could be bought new. What stopped me from sending this TV to the junkyard was his assurance (and some research) that it was a great TV that could be made good as new. Considering its original price tag, I agreed to repairing it instead of replacing. He could very well be the Rain Man of television repair, but in this day and age, a hand-scribbled receipt, gruff demeanor, and cash-only approach is not what I look for in a 5 star experience.
