Spring Street MAC would rather steal your money than make it right. I bought this DP to VGA cable ($24.95) from my local shop, Spring Street Mac (shop small, right?) day before yesterday (4/1/19) in anticipation of purchasing a projector on Craigslist the next day. Well, the deal fell through, and I no longer needed the cable. Went back today (4/3/19) to return. Yes, the manager did warn me the other day that they "normally" don't do any refunds unless the item is defective. But having worked years in retail, I thought that, of course, they would take good care of their customer considering my extenuating circumstance, the fact that the package was unopened, and it was less than 72 hours since original purchase. I was even willing to accept a store credit seeing as their policy was pretty clear. The manager took a hard stance and said absolutely not. They offer NO returns and NO store credit. Whatsoever. He said if there was something else I needed in the store that he would exchange it. I originally settled on a $39.95 iPhone case, but frankly I didn't like it and it put me in the hole to them for another $7.98 (after he reluctantly gave me 20% off the sticker price). In the end, I decided just to eat the cost of the cable instead of paying even more for a phone case that I didn't want. Over the course of these transactions, the manager, Jason, was firm, then frustrated, then flat-out rude to me. And I don't envy his position, to be honest. What a terrible policy. Had I bought this at Amazon, Best Buy, Target or Walmart, I'd have cash back in my hands right now. The policy is CLEARLY in place to prevent people from price checking and then returning. Which honestly isn't what happened here at all. I asked for a simple bit of customer service and was refused. I'll never go back. And I suggest no one else does either. read more

FINALLY! An Apple Store in Downtown Los Angeles. Okay, it's an outlet, but it's still something. I would alway have to drive to the Grove to get anything Apple and most of the time, it was a hassle to get there. I need a USB cord and didn't have the time to make to the Grove. I was hoping to find some sort of outlet the might sell Apple products and BAM!... there it was: Spring Street Mac. The guys in there were pretty nice and they had what I was looking for and not only did I get my USB cord, but I got it at half the price of retail. Don't Go To This Apple Store! I brought my Mac in for a simple battery change & now every time I'm working on something it restarts. It happens everyday! I went back to them, they charged me another 45 dollars to tell me they couldn't find the problem. I also got into a verbal argument about it of course because they're claiming "we didn't harm your Mac". I 100% sure they did & even if they didn't, they weren't able to fix the damn problem. This place rules! They have now done two repairs for me. The first time my laptop would not turn on and they got it to work and cleaned up the logic board. They charge 45 and then apply it to the repair. Second time they replaced a fan that was making my lappy insane. Great job it's working as new read more

I recently bought an iPhone 5 charger from Spring Street Mac Store and it stopped working. I did not have a receipt, invoice number, or original box, and the staff generously helped me by providing me with another charger under my one year warranty after showing them the billing statement from my bank. Their kindness and understanding was beyond inspiring for me and made me feel valued as a customer. I will be sure to not throw away this box and always go to Spring Street Mac. $15 attempt fee, they "attempted" by doing the same thing I did to try to fix it. I researched the problem before hand and they agreed they would take the phone apart and fix it, they did not. They wasted my time, and did not fix my phone. Update- Mike the owner refunded my money and apologized then said they change their policy and will not charge you an attempt fee. Thanks mike. When I came in for help configuring it, which they had said they would be happy to do (when I purchased it) they treated me with utter disdain and disrespect. Greg would not even come out of the back to say" Hello" Ray would not listen to what I needed and kept doing the wrong things. Finally, I gave up ,left and called the Apple Support Number. I really wanted to like these guys. The service was good and the people were nice. The parts however were not (and that's what counts). I had my iPhone screen replaced and it stopped working 2 weeks outside of their warranty. They would not replace the dud screen without me paying for another one that they'd "give me a good deal on". The original person I dealt with told me to come back if I had any problems with the parts, I didn't realize there was a 30 day limit on that service. Don't go here if you want a screen that will work consistently. Also a 30 day warranty on dubious Shenzhen parts is just asking for trouble. read more

I have purchased (on two separate occasions) an iPhone charger from this store and within a matter of DAYS they both didn't work. I thought the first one was something I did so I didn't trip out but the same thing with the second one, it doesn't work. I would not be surprised if they're bootleg cords from the wholesale district. Even though they're the only place to buy a cord in a hurry in the neighborhood, don't waste your twenty whatever dollars on a janky cord that just stops working. read more

So far so good. I live across the street, and the charger for my 2011 macbook pro just gave out. I called ahead to see if the had it, they quoted me $65 out the door. I walked right over, bought the charger, its refurbished, but in new seal and works fine and was indeed $65 out the door. Buying a new one at apple would have been about $90 after taxes. And you get a 30 day warranty here. No complaints. for accessories i highly recommend Spring Street Mac. It also helps they are close, and apple stores are pretty far from here without a car. read more

I came here to sell my old iphone 4 after upgrading my phone. I easily sold my phone, but also ended up shopping for a screen protector and case sticker for my new phone. The employee, David, was amazing. After I purchased my items, he offered to put the screen protector and case sticker on for me. It was great for me, because... air bubbles. I can't say enough good things about this place!!! They saved my life and my computer from a freak water bottle explosion in my bag. I wiped as much water as I could off but when I went to power it on I was greated with a distinct POP sound and then nothing.... My heart literally sank. A couple days later I brought it to Spring Street Mac via the recomendation of a friend. They said liquid damage is a very tricky process of cleaning and repairing which I understand (water and electricity don't mix). It would be a $70 "cleaning attempt fee" and if they were able to get my computer working again it would be a flat rate of $350 including the original $70. My life is literally on this computer so I was happy to pay whatever I took to get it up and running again. They said their process takes about 1-2 business days for a call. Hoping for the best The next day I got a call around 5 clock saying my computer was ready for pickup!! WOW THAT WAS FAST!! They were able to get everything up and running with one exception. One of my ram chips was compromised from the water but they had replaced it for no addional cost. THANK YOU SO MUCH SPRING STREET MAC!! YOU SAVED MY LIFE!! I will be telling all my friends to come here now for all their Mac needs. They even buy/sell and trade computers!! I will definitely be back for an SSD upgrade soon! read more

Great, professional, quick service. My iPhone 4s stopped charging and went dead. Apple's Genius Bar tested the phone and determined that the charging dock was not passing power to the battery; unfortunately Apple doesn't offer a repair service. Spring Street Mac does and did a fine job of repairing my phone this morning for a reasonable price. The shop is neat and clean; repair area appeared so as well. Staff was professional, helpful and friendly. Location in DTLA is convenient to transit and has multiple coffee shops and restaurants within a block to grab a snack while you wait. read more

My first experience with Spring Street Mac was a little shaky, so i posted as such on yelp. I was shocked when i was contacted by Mike to come back in and allow them to fix the problem. I took my iPad mini back to them and they fixed the screen, they also added a screen protector. I was pleased with the service I received, and the speediness of the work that was done. Mike called me everyday to let me know what was going on with the Mini. I welcomed the calls, I really felt like i was in the knowing at all time when i could expect my Mini back. Here is the long and the skinny of it, yes they do have a 15% restocking fee ... MAKE SURE the item you purchase either fits or works to your liking before you exit the store. This should help with any confusion people may have when bringing back a item. Also after reading more reviews it might be best to spend a little more money and get the MAC connectors. I will go to them again, their store is walking distance from my loft which makes it very convenient for me. They have many staff members to answer any of your tech question, and at the end of they day they seem like honest people that are just trying to run a business. read more

Whenever I think about computer problems/questions, something regarding a Mac or PC, and anything to do with an iPhone or Mac product, I know exactly where to go and where to send my friends. This place is definitely the best and Mike really knows what he is talking about! I have come a few times for miscellaneous things but this time I needed a Macbook. The main problem is that the employees are incompetent. I expected to go to a place that has quality service, but Spring Street Mac is not a place like that. I ended up paying over $200 and they didn't fix what I told them to fix. One of the employees told me something was wrong with the computer, and said they needed to reinstall the operating system. When I picked it up, they had charged me for a "tune-up" and had not reinstalled the operating system. (Their "tune-up," by the way, is clicking a couple buttons in Disk Utility, which is something I had done before bringing the computer in, but they still charged $60 for it without my permission.). This is the equivalent of going to an auto-shop for an oil change because they say you need an oil change, and then when you check-out, they say they didn't change the oil, but they gave you a tune-up for $60... It's ridiculous. I asked for a refund and instead they give me $10 back---still not doing the work they said they would do. The employee also denied responsibility, denied he made a mistake, which is a sure sign of incompetence (inability to do something successfully). Also, they said they were going to call when the Mac was fixed, but didn't call. I had to call them and ask about the computer (which is quite annoying when I need my computer for work, and I'm waiting on them for it). I regret having gone to the store, and strongly recommend going to an Apple Store to fix your Mac (where they have smart technicians and considerate service). Here's the thing that makes me most mad though---I'm currently Googling how to fix my computer because I still need it fixed! After spending $200, losing a day of productivity, putting up with incompetent and annoying employees, I still have to figure out what's going on with my computer and how to fix it. That is why they get 1-star and not 2-stars. read more

Stopped in one day last year and was very pleased to see the friendly faces. All the guys are very knowledgable in the Mac products and they have a verity of apple accessories. I have had several apple products fixed and was very pleased with the service and price. I have been to places that use aftermarket parts and it shows. I needed to get my computer upgraded and was referred by a friend to go to Spring Street Mac in Downtown. It was easy to get to, and when I walked in I was really impressed with the feel of the store and the friendliness of the staff. They were able to do my upgrade with ease and my apple works so well now! I am now a repeat customer; although one of these days I'll have to customize my iPhone since both times I've been there I've seen plenty of customers phones and they look amazing!
