Couldn't answer a a basic question about inventory. Said the airport cards are kept in a random bin. So instead of telling me which they have kept telling me to bring in the computer to pay for the diagnostics. I just wanted a new Airport card or wifi dongle. The exchange: Me: do you have the replacement airport cards? Them: We do have airport cards but depending on which machine you have there are different cards Me: Mac Pro 2010 Them: We do have airport cards but depending on which machine you have there are different cards. We won't know until we open it up and test it Me: okay can you tell me which ones you have? Them: Unfortunately we do not have a breakdown of which ones we have in stock Me: ugh. why? then how would you know you have the parts? Spring Street Mac is legit. I bought a used MacBook Pro from them and saved huge. I did a ton of research online checked eBay and Craigslist for used computers in Los Angeles and contacted a couple of people but felt more comfortable dealing with an actual store that was giving me a warranty. The sales guy knew what he was taking about and I left with all my data transferred to the new computer same day. I called Spring Street Mac and spoke with Mike. Mike was very cordial and professional, both on the phone and in the store. I needed my computer fixed right away because I am working on my graduate school thesis. I visited two Mac stores prior to calling and going to Spring Street Mac. At the first Mac store I was told that I would have to wait 3 hours (a few hours before closing time) to possibly see a rep or make an appointment for 4 days later. The second store's rep, in a rude manner, told me that I could not see a repair person but I could make an appointment for a week later. The following day I called Spring Street Mac and spoke with Mike. I took my computer in to be repaired. Upon arriving to Spring Street Mac, Mike took my computer in immediately, even without an appointment. Mike had my computer repaired within two hours. Spring Street Mac is def DTLA's best option but to be honest, have they done more harm then good? In all honestly I only went because I was their neighbor and it was easy not even cheap, and when my iPad screen got replaced the iPad totally freaked/fritzed out way worse then the problem the screen was giving me. They refused to fix it further or take any accountability. But I did break my iPhone screen more recently and ask for a replacement and they did that the next day in like a 2-4 hour span. It seemed liked they had a solid line of long term dudes that worked there so that made me think higher of them, though how far can that go? read more

Great store not far from my work! Mike, and Jason in service, took care of my Mac Book air. Changed the battery and offered for free the replacement of one of my keyboard buttons. Can't say enough good things about these guys. I took in my 27 inch iMac, a late 2013 model, and ask them to install a solid-state hard drive. They did so in under a day, were extremely reasonable in terms of pricing, and your genuinely very friendly. read more

After leaving the store, one of the owners, Mike, found out about my experience and made it his personal mission to turn it around. He, and the entire team at Spring Street Mac made a commitment to doing whatever they could to help...and they did just that. Mike and his staff were proactive and moved mountains to get my MAC repaired, even when Apple tried to make it difficult. I haven't had a business screw me this badly in YEARS. A week and a half, 2 phones and almost $300 later, I walked out their door empty handed, NO PHONE, and they could have cared less. Nice looking guys who are apparently good at replacing smashed glass and little else; read on-- I took my dead iPhone in one afternoon, hoping they could help me. I like to keep business in my neighborhood and decided to give them a try. Without checking my phone out at all, Kyle said it was hopeless and offered to sell me a 3GS 32g iPhone for $350. I told him I didn't have that kind of money and couldn't he have a look and tell me if he couldn't fix my phone? Suddenly he decided he could fix it. He said he'd charge me $45 that I'd have to pay even if he couldn't fix my phone. I said fine, walking out the door, my phone in their um...capable hands. He called me telling me he had to replace some parts but he could fix it. The next day, I picked it up. It worked, $180 total for inspection, parts and labor. I skipped out the door, happy as could be. My joy was short lived. The phone died again. I took the phone back in, Kyle saying "there's no part I could replace that would restore this phone," saying this had never happened to him before. Kinda like a gigolo saying he'd never had trouble getting it up. He gave me a great quote, "what did you do, slap a baby?" So I let them sell me a jailbroken iPhone 3G, trading in my old phone they'd fixed and put new parts in. And the 3G NEVER worked right. I asked Kyle if I could update the OS and he said I could but it wouldn't be jailbroken anymore and if I wanted it re-jailbroken, I'd have to bring it back in. After trying to live with the un-workable phone for 3 or so days, I downloaded and installed the new OS. And it died. When I took it back in, Kyle said "you never should have done this to a jailbroken phone." Funny, he told me I could. His partner, whose name escapes me took over at this point, assuring me that I was a dumbass and that there was nothing he could do but sell me yet another phone. In summary, I walked out the door poorer and empty handed. The last comment was truly insulting, "I'd give you a first-generation iPhone if I had one, but...I don't." The final solution to my problem was to get my husband to upgrade to a 4S and give me his old phone. My mission now is to tell as many people as possible in my neighborhood how dreadful these guys are. I believe I've steered quite a few people away from them. Kyle is a nice looking fellow, you can see his picture in his ads he puts on craigslist. He should ditch the phone repair and become a gigolo. read more

I am in my second dealing with this store, and I am a fan. I was actually referred to them BY THE APPLE STORE. I like the ease, location and simplistic nature of the store, its very straight forward. I think the hours could grow a bit as people live all over dtla now and need things done after work. Not everyone in LA is an actor/model! As with any tech or tech repair store, you are dealing with people from the tech field----which can always be a bit--distant if you don't speak that language of come from that tribe of people----which I don't. Other than that, I like the place, I think the prices are super fair and the service is fast, which for me is very important! read more

Well I love these guys. Deff my go to for any computer issues from now on. I walked up from my job to check about a broke hard drive. They told me best and worse case scenario. I had to leave a deposit which is normal. Dreading the worse I had already prepared myself mentally. Yes, they replaced my screen (it was cracked) and rear camera (it had broke when I dropped my phone) but when I got my phone back, I noticed that the display now has an extremely blue tint- super recognizable especially if you compare your phone to a friend's phone. For someone who works in social media, this is extremely unacceptable and I wish I had never gone to them in the first place. For the repairs, it was $200 in total. read more

Hard drive on same laptop was on the way out. I rely on my computer like so many of us and was reluctant to leave my baby out of sight so I brought it here for a little look-see. I think it was Mike who took it in the back and it was confirmed that it needed a new hard drive. It was 4 in the afternoon and they said it may be 2 days before it could be complete, which is a lifetime without a Mac these days. The next morning, less than 20 hours after dropping it off, I got a call telling me it was complete and ready for pick-up, and at the low price they originally quoted me. My old MacBook Pro stopped charging, and these guys did a great job of fixing it in very little time. They are busy, which means communication about time/heads up for setbacks aren't always initiated. The computer is running like new and they even cleaned it for me. Convenient, yes. But the return policy and pricing are utter BS. Make sure you are 100% sure you need exactly what they're selling, because they only accept returns for store credit within 7 days, and to make it even worse, charge a 15% restocking fee. Hi everyone, I haven't written a review in years ...and the only reviews I've written in the past were positive. I was so shocked by the customer service I received by the owner (Mike) that I was compelled to give everyone a heads up on the way you will be treated if you are sold a faulty product. For the short story: They sold me a faulty product and refused to refund me. Beyond that, the owner literally raised his voice and hung up on me multiple times when I tried to make my case. For the long story: -I bought a wall charger and cable for my Macbook from the store, I left mine at home that day and desperately needed one. I had reason to believe it actually would not work, since I had bought that same set before (and it didn't work), but this is the only store with a wall charger/USB-C cable in the area. I asked both of the customer service reps very clearly: "Will this set work? It did not work last time. And if it does not work, will I be able to receive a refund?" They both said yes and that it didn't work last time because the cable was probably faulty. Taking them at their word, I bought it. -I went back to my office, plugged in the set - it didn't work. I lost pretty much my entire work day and my own small business lost a bunch of orders. Needless to say, that made me pretty upset. -I walked back in the store to return the set. The customer service reps agreed to refund the cable AND the wall charger, but said they were not able to process the refund themselves. They said the manager would call and refund me the next day. -Two or three days later I got a call from the manger. He frankly had no idea what was going on and abruptly ended the call when I tried to explain the situation. -Two days after that I got a call from Mike, the owner. Before even allowing me to explain the story, he got defensive and said he would absolutely not refund me. He did offer to replace the cable, which I explained I no longer needed. He offered a credit, which I said I didn't want. And I repeatedly explained the exact story - that the product was faulty, that the reps at the store told me I would get a refund if it was faulty, and that I just wanted a refund for a product that simply didn't work. He took a really aggressive tone with me, claimed that it was my MacBook that had the problem, and actually hung up on me ...which I can't say has happened to me in years and especially not from a store where I've purchased a product. To add insult to injury, he calls me back 3 minutes later, tells me that I now have store credit (as if I'll ever shop there after this experience), and hangs up on me again. I'm sure he'll reply with some commentary, which he is welcome to do. Though I have to say that all the other IT professionals I've talked to in DTLA say that this store simply sucks when it comes to service and pricing. I really do wish anyone that shops here has less regret than I do. read more

ZERO customer service. Bought a firewire 800 cable, which for one costs nearly 30 dollars. Then I realized that I already had one, and wanted to return not more than 10 minutes after I bought it. They wanted a 15% restocking fee, and after that no refund, just store credit. Fuck that. APPLE STORE REJECT MOTHERFUCKERS. Gotta hold onto every penny because they're going out of business soon. read more

It was my first time here and my new phone wasn't even turning on so we established that it was an internal issue due to a possible virus in my backup storage but the guy suggested I get my phone looked at anyway and all he had to do was just connect my phone to a computer and try to restore it, but they charged me anyway. I understand that here's no guarantee and you're paying for the labor but if I'm a first time customer and this is an issue that can be looked at for free at an Apple Store or something I can do at home, they should've waived the charges. I feel like they just made money off of me by suggesting I try getting it looked at by them when they had already diagnosed the issue from the start and were well aware that only apple can fix this or replace my phone.
