We found this restaurant last week, based on a coworker's recommendation. I've now eaten here twice. Once with my husband, and once with a colleague. The food was really good on both occasions. I had the fusili with pesto on my first trip, and lasagna the second. My dining companions had the pork Milanese, gnocchi, and several of the bruschettas. We came here on a Saturday night with a reservation for 7:15. It was very busy- we ended up having to wait ten mins or so to even be seated. When we were finally taken to our table , it was a four top separated to make two separate tables- however were basically still next to each other. The server had to actually move the chairs of the front table to even let us in to get seated. (We would not even be able to leave only if the people next to us actually got up and moved there seats to let us out). To say this was uncomfortable was an understatement and honestly at that point we should have just walked out. Five minutes later they sat two people right next to us. The waitress couldn't even access our table- so we had to literally shout over the table next to us for her to take our order. We even had to pass our water glasses down the table for her to fill them. I'm sure this caused the table next to us to also have a poor experience. We put in an app, and after 40 mins we still did not receive it, however the table next to us who came in after got theirs within ten minutes. They actually even left before we got any food! We noticed they were clearing the table to again sit two more people there- we had enough and asked for our food (which we were still waiting on over an hour) to be wrapped up to taken home. We waited by the bar another 15 minutes just to receive our food- when it came we noticed our app wasn't even in the bag- however we were charged for it! We waited an additional ten mins for them to go back and make it. Honestly, the bus boy who came out with our food seemed the most apologetic of everyone! We were VERY disappointed in this entire experience. Did not receive any sort of apology from a manager what so ever- clearly they did not care. We will never come back based on this- and the food was not even up to par when we finally ate when we came home. Stay away from this place unless you want poor customer experience!! read more

It was good, but the service was slow and the dessert was disappointing. We started off with the caprese tower. It's hard to go wrong with a caprese salad and I loved that they added a fried tomato. It was perfect, so tasty. This is my second time here and I've never been disappointed with their wine selection or my choice. Definitely my favorite spot for ordering a glass of wine! My husband ordered the filet, which of course was amazing. I was surprised by the mashed potatoes. I snuck a bite and almost wished I could eat them all! Creamy and so much flavor. I'm not sure what's in them, but I love it! I ordered the penne alla vodka. It was ok. The sauce & noodles were tasty, but it lacked any other flavor. I honestly could count the number of peas & prosciutto. It was definitely lacking both, so much that it seemed like a joke. We were hoping to enjoy dessert, but once we received our food we seemed to lose our server. My husband ordered a second glass of wine and was literally half way through his meal before we decided to ask someone else for it. We waited again for our server to bring us a dessert menu, but it took so long I had to order it to go. Once I got home to enjoy the chocolate cake I wanted to cry - it was the worst this chocolate lover has ever had. It lacked that thick, moist consistency I expect and even more important, the chocolate taste I long for. I'm not sure if it was a healthy version, but just don't order it. Cake isn't meant to be healthy. Load it up! the frosting was thick and tasty, so that saved it, but despite this I had two bites and left the rest. It was that bad. We chose to eat here for our wedding anniversary. Although I will most likely consider eating here again. Today was my first time there. Went there for a lunch meeting. The restaurant is an old firehouse that was converted into this nice eatery. There are two separate dining areas. They have outdoor seating and an upstairs banquet room as well. Since I was there for lunch I really didn't look at the entire menu. My order consisted of the veggie panini with curly fries. The focaccia bread was very fresh and nicely toasted with grilled zucchini, roasted pepper, artichoke, mushroom, kalamata olive. I loved the fact that I could barely taste the mushrooms. Went here expecting a Latin restaurant as someone had mentioned it in connection with "tapas". They must have been mixed up - this turned out to be an Italian restaurant, and the only small plates really available would have been plate after plate of different bruschettas as they have a bunch. Lots of large pasta dishes, risotto, veal etc. We had a fruit/ cheese prosciutto appetizer which was really good, a pasta and sausage entree which was great (very good sausage), and a risotto which was a tad overcooked and more the consistency of veggie chili. Service was OK, though I'd note we happened to stop by at a pretty un-busy time. You can eat outside on the street here but we elected not to do that because the tables outside are very small and jammed together. Inside is more spacious, and also the bar and accompanying decor including a number of very artistic light fixtures is several notches above average for this type of restaurant. There's an extensive wine list as well as many beers and mixed drinks. Although I don't tend to consume a lot of Italian food, this would be an awesome place to have drinks and bruschetta in an atmosphere that's stylish, non-stodgy, and more adult than most bars in West Chester which cater more to a college crowd. read more

Yikes. The only stars I am giving are because FOH is great, the hostess was sweet and our waitress was attentive and helpful. But the food, this is the first time in my life I actually sent something back, I think my exact words were "I don't feel comfortable eating that". We were served mussels that were definitely a few hours away from being inedible, I could smell them the second they were put down on the table.. and we were sitting outside! My husband tried a few and finally said nope, they shouldn't be eaten. I have seen better looking mortadella from acme, the burrata was ok. A far cry from a good, fresh burrata. Entrees were ok, but the 'spicy' san marzano sauce had zero heat. I was happy with that as I am sensitive to it, but if you are looking for spice (as my husband was, who ordered it), you wouldn't be happy. I got a fish special that was so bland, major bummer considering the price on it! Such a shame because the place itself is nice! This was a shot in the dark to try Teca as we were not familiar with too many restaurants in West Cheater because we are not from the area but based on reviews we gave it a shot. The restaurant was nicely decorated for the Holidays and the staff who greeted us at the door were very nice. The waitress was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and specials. The Lasagna and the Seafood Risotto special were delicious. The ambiance was great, noise level was moderate. The restaurant is bigger than it looks from the outside so there are many seating options. The dining area to the left of the main room had a nice oval shaped bar which was pretty popular on this particular night. We had 5:00 reservations which was apparently a good time because as the night went on the restaurant was very crowded and their appeared to be a wait by the time we were finished. I would recommend reservations for sure, even the main bar was packed with patrons. The pricing for drinks and the food was a little on the high side but the food was very good so I guess it's hard to complain about that. Parking is tricky, you may be lucky to get a spot on the street but you will have to feed a meter which has a 3 hour limit after 5pm. Or you can find a nearby parking lot which will cost you $7.00 minimum. Overall the restaurant was a hit for us and I would recommend it to others. read more

I had my Sweet 16 here a few year ago and I have to say that Teca made it a truly special event! They have a gorgeous event area upstairs and the staff was very accommodating! They allowed me to choose three hors d'oeuvres (which were all excellent) and they even provided a security guard for the event! The whole evening ran very smoothly and I would definitely recommend Teca for any big upcoming events you may have. They were awesome! read more

Came in sat at the bar, sticky bar and heat pouring down from a light that was burning to touch, on a 60 degree day in April, I'm told it's nice to have during the winter, it's the end of April? Told that there's a really nice wine special, it's very green, that's the strangest way I've heard gruner described, maybe green apple, peppery...lime.. green pepper..: but oh yea it's kinda green. My husband and I just moved to WC from Brooklyn, so we've been spoiled when it comes to good food. He took me here for my birthday dinner this month, and it was fabulous. We ate outside. I had the grilled calamari salad with a side of expertly cooked broccoli rabe, and he had the pork Milanese. I have been to Teca several times and have yet to have a bad meal. I really love their lunch menu. The salmon salad I had the other day was amazing. I have had several of their paninis and each were delicious in their own way. I particularly love the cheese they use. I also highly recommend their brochette. I've been visiting West Chester for business regularly for almost a year now, trying different restaurants every time, but always coming back to Teca at least once every single time. It's my favorite place in town, because they have the best wine selection, and some great food. I haven't read other reviews, but Teca deserves a much higher rating than 3.5 so I'm trying to help. I really like Teca for dinner and drinks with friends. Just be ready for a HUGE menu! I've been here for both dinner and done the small plates and drinks thing. Everything I've had has been top notch! I especially recommend the lasagna. 2 negatives - Our last time there, we had the private room in the wine closet reserved. The atmosphere was awesome, however we were a little disappointed when they squeezed a 4 top in the room with us - not so private anymore! They lost another point with me when we asked to the waiter for wine recommendations, he comes with a $200+ magnum! All in all, the place is cool and the food is solid. read more

My boyfriend and I LOVE Teca! The food is always on point, especially the meat and cheese plates, and such a great selection of wine, however there are a few flaws that have disappointed us each time. Both my boyfriend and I have worked multiple years in the food industry and we are well aware of the right/wrong. Cons 1) When they are busy the serving staff is never able to keep up. We are always waiting on a server (20 minutes and no drink order?) 2) They will ask about additional items that may accompany a meal (olives/ peppers) and not tell you they are extra. This is no big deal for us, but it add up pretty quickly. Hey, just let me know! 3) My boyfriend is full Italian, they claim to have "the best" cannolis, if you think they are "the best" you have not had an authentic cannoli. 4) If you have a hard time seeing in the dark, bring a flashlight. It doesn't both us, but it can get dark inside. Pros 1) gnocchi entree is DELICIOUS!!!! 2) The bar staff is so nice and they always greet you right away. Teca has been a favorite of ours for years. I want to support our local independently owned restaurants especially during this difficult time. So we ordered pick up dinners on line. The food was ready on time. But that was the only good thing about this whole experience. We ordered the calamari appetizer. It was cold, rubbery and absolutely tasteless. We also ordered two Teca Tonatta entree salads, which was to include "imported tuna" , mixed greens, hard boiled egg, olives, and estate grown olive oil and vinegar. What we got in each salad was maybe three puny olives, an egg, oil and vinegar and..........wait for it........canned tuna spread across the top of the greens. Canned tuna. And it wasn't even solid white tuna which would still not be acceptable for this place and this price. I've had better grab and go salads at the airport. Even Wawa. Shame on you. If this is the new Teca trying to survive this difficult time, we wont be helping you. read more

Where should I start? First, we had a large party upstairs and the management obviously doesn't care about great service only providing us with one server for over 15 guest. Then it took 35 minutes (not exaggerating) to get drinks from the bar, probably explains why my beer was not cold; I didn't drink it and did not waste time asking for another drink knowing how long it would take. Then salads came out and I had no silverware. When I asked for some, I was only given a fork; are you kidding me? This takes the prize for horrible service. Meals came out over 10 minutes apart from the first to the last one, and they didn't even know where to place them. We also had dessert included, but not everyone ordered one. I personally did, and never received it. This place needs serious help if this was one of your stronger servers, which is the case for large parties. I did 15 years in the industry and this might be my new number 1 for worst service. If gratuity wasn't included, this would have been a 5-10% tip; it was that bad. Oh, and as I read on OpenTable, your wine prices are ridiculous for the bottles you offer. You have some really good ones, but even they do not warrant the asking price, and yes I know what they should be based on what you paid; you markup is lofty. Never Again! read more

I was a guest at a special event last night. I felt so bad for the people who organized it. It was a jewelry and fashion show fundraiser and the room was so dark you couldn't see what the models were wearing. They tried to bring in lights of their own and make the most of it, but it seemed odd that there was no room lighting. The servers and bartenders were awesome and super friendly. It was a really fun event but I felt bad for the ladies who organized it. Maybe the room is best for daytime events or parties where you only need candles for lighting. read more

This will be the top of my list from our trip to West Chester, PA. Our waiter was adorable and I wish I had gotten his name! WeI had the cheese plate to start which was very nicely done with the perfect condiments. For my entree I had the Tagliata. Strip steak on bed of arugula... was perfection and the dressing was just enough to add the perfect flavor! Hi, I went to Teca Saturday night and when I went to let the hostess know I was there a gentleman I later found out was the owner Rob, told me to stand away from the doorway in a rude manner. If I didn't have guest with me I would have walked to another restaurant given how ignorant he was. After being seated, the service was outstanding and the food we had was enjoyable. Soon we were forced to take cover by driving rain storms which were unfortunate to cut the night short. We headed inside to see if we could get a drink at the bar, but dick head Rob was there to yell at the servers for even considering to help us given the storm. In all my years I've never witnessed a more angry, pathetic asshole than Rob in the restaurant business. He is the complete asshole and I will never spend a dime in his establishment again. I frequent Mercato, Limoncello and Pietro's which have great food and treat you like a million bucks. - Good luck Rob.... read more

Less than great. Prices are high for what you get. Wine pours were small- maybe 5 oz. Bruschetta was underwhelming. It was served on large slices of toast and not very easy to cut so you end up balancing the thing as you eat. It wasn't very flavorful - could have used more oil. I got the chicken parm for my entree. For an Italian restaurant I was hoping the pasta would be their selling point, but it appeared to be store bought. My fiancé's gnocchi was good, but the portion was fairly small. Our waitress was really nice though. All in all stick to Teca for those spring and summer days when you can enjoy their sidewalk seating in the borough, other than that I wouldn't recommend. read more
